160 Years of Development of the Journal of Integrative Plant Biology显示文摘In celebration of JIPB's 60 th anniversary, this paper summarizes and reviews the development process of the journal. To start,we offer our heartfelt thanks to JIPB's pioneer Editors-in-Chief who helped get the journal off the ground and make it successful.Academic achievement is the soul of academic journals, and this paper summarizes JIPB's course of academic development by analyzing it in four stages:the first two stages are mostly qualitative analyses, and the latter two stages are dedicated to quantitative analyses.Most-cited papers were statistically analyzed.Improvements in editing, publication, distribution and online accessibility-which are detailed in this paper-contribute to JIPB's sustainable development. In addition,JIPB's evaluation index and awards are provided with accompanying pictures. At the end of the paper,JIPB's milestones are listed chronologically. We believe that JIPB's development, from a national journal to an international one, parallels the development of the Chinese plant sciences.Jinzhong Cui Ping He Fenghong Liu Jingjing Tan Lingfeng Chen Joshua Fenn 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,10:5
2Surfactant-Encapsulated Polyoxometalate Complex as a Cathode Interlayer for Nonfullerene Polymer Solar Cells显示文摘An alcohol-soluble,environmentally friendly, and low-cost surfactant-encapsulated polyoxometalate complex[(C8H17)4N]4[SiW_(12)O40](TOASiW_(12))as a cathode interlayer(CIL)has exhibited excellent universality for various active layers and cathodes in nonfullerene polymer solar cells(NF-PSCs).In particular, incorporating TOASiW_(12) as the CIL enhanced power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)of the PM6:Y6-based NF-PSCs with Al or Ag cathode to 16.14%and 15.89%,respectively,and the PCEs of PM6:BTP-BO4Cl-based NF-PSCs with Al or Ag cathode to 17.04%and 17.00%,respectively.More importantly, the performances of the devices with TOASiW_(12) were insensitive to the TOASiW_(12) thickness from 3 to 33 nm.Furthermore, the NF-PSCs with TOASiW_(12) exhibited better device stability.Combined characterization of the photocurrent density versus effective voltage, capacitance versus voltage and electron mobility demonstrated that TOASiW_(12) as the CIL effectively promoted exciton dissociation,charge-carrier extraction,built-in potential,charge-carrier density, and electron mobility in the NF-PSCs.These findings suggest that TOASiW_(12) is a promising, competitive CIL for NF-PSCs fabricated by roll-to-roll processing.Jing Qiu Yue Zhang Yan Liu Huiru Liu Dongdong Xia Fan Yang Chaowei Zhao Weiwei Li Lixin Wu Fenghong Li 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,3:3
3Free fatty acids profiling in cold-pressed rapeseed oil pretreated by microwave显示文摘This study proposed a strategy based on simple chemical derivatization coupled with neutral loss scan tandem to electrospray ionization source of mass spectrometer (NLS-ESI-MS/MS) for rapid and sensitive detection of free fatty acids (FFAs) in coldpressed rapeseed oils without sample purification and enrichment. The method was applied to investigate contents of FFAs and their changes in cold-pressed rapeseed oil pretreated by microwave. Results showed that main FFAs in rapeseed oil control samples were myristic acid (C14:0), palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), oleic acid (C18:1), linoleic acid (C18:2) and linolenic acid (C18:3). The highest content of C18:1 was 7163.69 nmol/g and C18:2 was 5221.18 nmol/g among 8 oil samples. FFAs generally increased after microwave pretreatment except C14:0 in oil sample of ‘Xinyou 17’ and ‘Suyou 6’. C18:1 and C18:2 significantly changed (P<0.05) after microwave pretreatment. With this established simple, practical and reliable analysis approach, changes of FFAs would be monitored to ensure safety and quality of edible oils. A powerful tool is provided for thermal degradation mechanism research of edible oils.Ming Liu Chang Zheng Pingmei Guo Xuyan Dong Fang Wei Hong Chen Fenghong Huang 2017Oil Crop Science2017,2,2:2
4The FAIR Principles:First Generation Implementation Choices and Challenges显示文摘“FAIR enough”?...A question asked on a daily basis in the rapidly evolving field of open science and the underpinning data stewardship profession. After the publication of the FAIR principles in 2016,they have sparked theoretical debates, but some communities have already begun to implement FAIR-guided data and services.No-one really argues against the idea that data,as well as the accompanying workflows and services should be findable, accessible under well-defined conditions, interoperable without data munging, and thus optimally reusable.Being FAIR is not a goal in itself;FAIR Data and Services are needed to enable data intensive research and innovation and(thus)have to be“AI-ready”(=future proof for machines to optimally assist us). However, the fact that science and innovation becomes increasingly“machine-assisted”and hence the central role of machines,is still overlooked in some cases when people claim to implement FAIR.Barend Mons Erik Schultes Fenghong Liu Annika Jacobsen 2020Data Intelligence2020,2,1:2
5Physicochemical properties and volatile components of hempseed oils in Bama region显示文摘A comparison study has been performed in hempseed oils (HSO) extracted from different cultivars in Bama region. Squeezing properties, chemical compositions, thermal stability and flavor profile of pressed HSO were determined in this study. Results indicated that there were no significant differences in crude fat, protein, fiber of different hempseeds and fatty acid composition in HSOs. Hempseeds with small size and dark-colored peel have lower squeezing oil yield than big ones. Average content of total phytosterol, tocopherol and phenol in HSO from small seeds were 872.0 mg/100 g, 124.1 mg/100 g and 15.5 mg SA/100 g respectively. Thermal oxidation by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) revealed three step oxidation of HSO with mean onset and oxidation temperature at 124oC and 135-315oC. Oxidation temperature of HSO from small seeds was higher than that from big seeds (big size and light-colored peel). Main volatile ingredients in HSO contained 11 kinds of monoterpene and 7 kinds of sesquiterpene. Volatile terpene content in HSO from small seeds was nearly 30% higher than that of big seeds. Quality of HSO with different peel feature has significant difference in squeezing yield, thermal stability and volatile flavors. This work may be useful to produce high quality hempseed oils through quality evaluation.Qi Zhou Fenghong Huang Chang Zheng Pingmei Guo Wenlin Li Changsheng Liu Chuyun Wan 2017Oil Crop Science2017,2,1:2

7Preparation and characterization of nanocellulose from rapeseed hull显示文摘Rapeseed hull, a by product in rapeseed processing, deserves deep research for extensive application to promote its limited value at present. The aim of this study was to explore utilization of rapeseed hull as a source of raw material for nanocellulose. On the basis of pretreatment with sodium hydroxide solution and peroxide solution, nanocellulose from rapeseed hull(NRH) was prepared by sulfuric acid hydrolysis. Samples of different pretreatment stages were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum and thermo-gravimetric analysis. Results showed that sodium hydroxide solution and peroxide solution pretreatment could significantly increase cellulose content of the material(p < 0.05). NRH prepared by sulfuric acid hydrolysis was of short rod structure, 50-250 nm in length with diameter of 5-25 nm. It had a typical type of celluloseⅠcrystal with 64.4% crystallinity. Initial thermal decomposition temperature of NRH was the lowest among all samples. NRH was expected to be applied in biodegradable composites. Therefore, this work will provide reference for further utilization of rapeseed hull as a low-cost source of nanocellulose.Weijun Wang Changsheng Liu Fenghong Huang Wenlin Li Chang Zheng 2019Oil Crop Science2019,4,1:1
8Ultrafine Fe/Fe3C decorated on Fe-N_(x)-C as bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for efficient Zn-air batteries显示文摘Efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for ORR and OER are fundamental to the development of high performance metal-air batteries.Herein,a facile cost-efficient two-step pyrolysis strategy for the fabrication of a bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst has been proposed. The efficient non-preciousmetal-based electrocatalyst,Fe/Fe_(3)C@Fe-N_(x)-C consists of highly curved onion-like carbon shells that encapsulate Fe/Fe_(3)C nanoparticles, distributed on an extensively porous graphitic carbon aerogel. The obtained Fe/Fe_(3)C@Fe-N_(x)-C aerogel exhibited superb electrochemical activity, excellent durability, and high methanol tolerance. The experimental results indicated that the assembly of onion-like carbon shells with encapsulated Fe/Fe_(3)C yielded highly curved carbon surfaces with abundant Fe-Nxactive sites,a porous structure, and enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards ORR and OER,hence displaying promising potential for application as an air cathode in rechargeable Zn-air batteries. The constructed Zn-air battery possessed an exceptional peak power density of~147 mW cm^(-2),outstanding cycling stability(200 cycles,1 h per cycle),and a small voltage gap of 0.87 V.This study offers valuable insights regarding the construction of low-cost and highly active bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for efficient air batteries.Lingbo Zong Xin Chen Siliang Liu Kaicai Fan Shuming Dou Jie Xu Xiaoxian Zhao Wenjun Zhang Yaowen Zhang Weicui Wu Fenghong Lu Lixiu Cui Xiaofei Jia Qi Zhang Yu Yang Jian Zhao Xia Li Yida Deng Yanan Chen Lei Wang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5:1

12Metadata as Data Intelligence显示文摘1.INTRODUCTION Metadata,as a type of data, describes content, provides context, documents transactions, and situates data.Interest in metadata has steadily grown over the last several decades, motivated initially by the increase in digital information, open access, early data sharing policies, and interoperability goals. This foundation has accelerated in more recent times, due to the increase in research data management policies and advances in Al.Specific to research data management, one of the larger factors has been the global adoption of the FAIR(findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable)data principles[1,2],which are highly metadatadriven.Additionally, researchers across nearly every domain are interested in leveraging metadata for machine learning and other Al applications.Jane Greenberg Mingfang Wu Wei Liu Fenghong Liu 2023Data Intelligence2023,5,1:0
13Adsorption behavior of free fatty acids and micro-components in rapeseed oil on alkaline microcrystalline cellulose显示文摘Alkaline microcrystalline cellulose (AMC) was used as adsorption agent in deacidification in this paper. Changes of isothermal adsorption of free fatty acids (FFA) and micro-components (α-tocopherol and β-sitosterol) in rapeseed oil on AMC were investigated. The results showed that difference in initial micro-component contents would not change adsorption characteristics of AMC to FFA. Adsorption characteristics were always as the following: Langmuir equation was more suitable to static adsorption process of AMC to FFA than Freundlich equation; moderate temperature (30-40oC) was advantageous to adsorption; adsorption was a preferential one. The highest retention rate of α-tocopherol and β-sitosterol during absorptive deacidification by AMC were 99.5% and 91.5% respectively. Therefore, AMC was suitable for adsorption deacidification application of rapeseed oil.Weijun Wang Changsheng Liu Fenghong Huang Wenlin Li Bo Yang 2017Oil Crop Science2017,2,4:0
14Microwave pre-treatment improved antioxidant activities of Brassica seeds, cold-pressed oil and cake显示文摘In order to analyze microwaving effects on antioxidant activities of seeds, oil, pressed-cake, and defatted-meal in cold pressed process, 3 species of Brassica (B. napus, B. juncea and B. rapa) seeds were treated in microwave oven at 560 W for 7 min. Antioxidant activities of samples from untreated seeds and 7-min microwaved seeds were evaluated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) method, and β-carotene bleaching (BCB) test. Results showed that microwave pre-treatment increased free radical scavenging activities (RSA), total antioxidant activities (TAA), and coefficient of antioxidant activity (CAA). Antioxidant activities of 7-min microwave pre-treated cold pressed oil were significantly higher than those of untreated ones due to increasing canolol content. Furthermore, microwave enhanced antioxidant activities of B. napus seeds more effectively than those of the other 2 species. This research provided better understanding for microwave pre-treatment application in antioxidant activity improvement of cold pressed oil.Chang Zheng Miao Zhang Mei Yang Qi Zhou Wenlin Li Changsheng Liu Fenghong Huang 2017Oil Crop Science2017,2,4:0
15Effects of microwave pretreatment on oxidation of pressed rapeseed oil during accelerated storage显示文摘To investigate advantages of microwave pretreatment for oil storage, oxidative stability of pressed rapeseed oil with microwave pretreatment (M-RO) was evaluated, while pressed rapeseed oil (RO) and RO with 200 ppm tertiary butylhydroquinone added (T-RO) were used for comparison. Oil samples were collected after accelerated storage at 60oC in dark for 0-32 d. A total of 37 oxidized volatile compounds were identified and 9 typical key compounds were quantified by solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC/MS). Correlation analysis showed that lipid oxidation parameters and induction time (IP) had significant association with typical indicators of volatile oxidized compounds. Hexanal and (E,E)-2,4-heptadienal were most suitable for differentiating RO sample at different storage times while 1-hexanol, 1-heptanal and (E)-2-octenal were suitable for T-RO sample. To M-RO sample, 5 substances described above together can provide a guide for monitoring lipid oxidation. M-RO has better oxidation resistance than RO, with advantage of 4 d in accelerated conditions both in sensory evaluation and PCA analysis. However, it still produces more volatile oxidized compounds and has higher peroxide value (PV) and p-anisidine value (p-AV) than T-RO sample at any sampling point. Anti-oxidation efficiency of rapeseed oil can be promoted via microwave pretreatment. This work provid new clues of benefits about microwave pretreatment in oil storage.Qi Zhou Chang Zheng Chuyun Wan Pingmei Guo Wenlin Li Changsheng Liu Fenghong Huang 2017Oil Crop Science2017,2,3:0
16Responses of Hedysarum Laeve,a guerrilla clonal semi-shrub in the Mu Us Sandland,to local sand burial显示文摘In arid and semi-arid inland deserts, one of the environmental stresses for plants is recurrent sand burial, which can influence the physical and biotic microenviron-ments of the plants and soil.Previous studies have shown that different levels of sand burial have different effects on plants.Slight sand burial could increase the height increment, leaf biomass and the number of new ramets of the plants while heavy sand burial could impair the growth of the plants and even decrease their chances of survival. In other words, below a certain threshold level of burial, the growth of plants is stimulated probably because of multiple factors. However,as the level of burial increases, the positive response starts to decline until it becomes a negative value.Arid and semi-arid inland deserts are frequently colonized and stabilized by many rhizomatous clonal plants.Clonal physiological integration often helps clonal plants buffer local environmen-tal stress encountered by ramets.A rhizomatous clonal semi-shrub,Hedysarum laeve(H.laeve),is the dominant plant species and important for vegetation restoration in the Mu Us sandland. To investigate whether clonal integration can increase the threshold of sand burial and help rhizomatous H.laeve tolerate heavy sand burial,we conducted a field experiment. The results showed that slight sand burial could accelerate ramet growth and enhance leaf biomass, stem bio-mass and shoot biomass, while heavy sand burial reducesed the biomass of the plant and impairs survival and growth of the ramets.Clonal integration increased the threshold of sand burial.Under heavy sand burial, ramets connected to other ramets not buried in sand were more in terms of height increment, stem biomass, leaf biomass and shoot biomass compared to the ramets encountering sand burial but disconnected from other ramets. It suggested that clonal physiological integration could help H.laeve ramets tolerate relatively heavy sand burial. We also discussed that clonal integration plays a role in H.laeve presence in the Mu Us sandland.LIU Fenghong YE Xuehua YU Feihai DONG Ming 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,4:0
17Bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities of cold-pressed seed oil显示文摘Ten cold-pressed oil from 6 herb plant seeds(sesame, flax, safflower, pumpkin, tomato and hemp) and 4 woody plant seeds(camellia, almond, walnut and peony) were analyzed to determine bioactive compounds content, including tocopherols, phytosterols and phenolics, as well as their antioxidant activities. Total tocopherols content ranged from 161.11 mg/kg in camellia seed oil to 1,072.51 mg/kg in tomato seed oil. Tomato seed oil had the highest total phytosterols(708.89 mg/100 g) and phenolics content(20.27 mg SAE/100 g),whereas, safflower seed oil has the lowest total phytosterols(173.75 mg/100 g) and walnut kernel oil contained the lowest phenolics(2.32 mg SAE/100 g), respectively. Tomato seed oil exhibited the strongest ferric-reducing antioxidant power(FARP, 311.36 μmol/100 g) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radical scavenging activity(56.40 μmol/100 g), while camellia seed oil had the lowest FRAP value(34.83 μmol/100 g) and flax seed oil had the lowest DPPH value(2.75 μmol/100 g). Correlation coefficient was determined as 0.647 and 0.863 between FRAP value and total tocopherols and phenolics, and 0.673 and 0.711 between DPPH value and total tocopherols and phenolics(p < 0.05), respectively. This result indicated the antioxidant activities(FRAP and DPPH) were highly correlated with total tocopherols and phenolics content of oil. This study will be very useful for comprehensive utilization of all 10 cold-press oils.Chang Zheng Mei Yang Qi Zhou Fenghong Huang Wenlin Li Changsheng Liu 2018Oil Crop Science2018,3,3:0
