2Health impacts of air pollution in China显示文摘The health effects of air pollution have attracted considerable attention in China.In this review,the status of air pollution in China is briefly presented.The impacts of air pollution on the health of the respiratory system,the circulatory system,the nervous system,the digestive system,the urinary system,pregnancy and life expectancy are highlighted.Additionally,China’s actions to control air pollution and their effects are briefly introduced.Finally,the challenges and perspectives of the health effects of air pollution are provided.We believe that this review will provide a promising perspective on the health impacts of air pollution in China,and further elicit more attention from governments and researchers worldwide.Fengping Hu Yongming Guo 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,4:2
3Towards enriching and isolation of uncultivated archaea from marine sediments using a refined combination of conventional microbial cultivation methods显示文摘The archaea that can be readily cultivated in the laboratory are only a small fraction of the total diversity that exists in nature.Although molecular ecology methods,such as metagenomic sequencing,can provide valuable information independent of cell cultivation,it is only through cultivation-based experiments that they may be fully characterized,both for their physiological and ecological properties.Here,we report our efforts towards enriching and isolation of uncultivated archaea from marine sediments using a refined combination of conventional microbial cultivation methods.Initially,cells were retrieved from the sediment samples through a cell extraction procedure and the sediment-free mixed cells were then divided into different size-range fractions by successive filtration through 0.8µm,0.6µm and 0.2µm membranes.Archaeal 16S rRNA gene analyses indicated noticeable retention of different archaeal groups in different fractions.For each fraction,supplementation with a variety of defined substrates(e.g.,methane,sulfate,and lignin)and stepwise dilutions led to highly active enrichment cultures of several archaeal groups with Bathyarchaeota most prominently enriched.Finally,using a roll-bottle technique,three co-cultures consisting of Bathyarchaeota(subgroup-8)and a bacterial species affiliated with either Pseudomonas or Glutamicibacter were obtained.Our results demonstrate that a combination of cell extraction,size fractionation,and roll-bottle isolation methods could be a useful protocol for the successful enrichment and isolation of numerous slow-growing archaeal groups from marine sediments.Haining Hu Vengadesh Perumal Natarajan Fengping Wang 2021Marine Life Science & Technology2021,3,2:2

5The late Archaean to early Proterozoic origin and evolution of anaerobic methane-oxidizing archaea显示文摘Impact statement Microorganisms,called anaerobic methane-oxidizing archaea(ANME),can reduce a large amount of greenhouse gas methane and therefore have the potential to cool the Earth.We collected nearly all ANMEs genomes in public databases and performed a comprehensive comparative genomic analysis and molecular dating.Our results show that ANMEs originated in the late Archaean to early Proterozoic eon.During this period of time,our planet Earth was experiencing the Great Oxygenation Event and Huronian Glaciation,a dramatic drop in the Earth's surface temperature.This suggests that the emergence of ANMEs may contribute to the reduction of methane at that time,which is an unappreciated potential cause that led to the Huronian Glaciation.Yinzhao Wang Ruize Xie Jialin Hou Zhenbo Lv Liuyang Li Yaoxun Hu Hungchia Huang Fengping Wang 2022mLife2022,1,1:1
6Yield criterions of metal plasticity in different stress states显示文摘Five types of tensile tests were conducted to study the yield behavior of 2A12-T4 aluminum alloy.Parallel finite element models were built for each test and solved with ABAQUS with different yield criterions.The result shows that any of the four criterions:von Mises yield criterion,Tresca criterion,Twin-Shear criterion and von Mises criterion with hydrostatic pressure correction,overestimates the yield strengths of the specimens.Rather than hydrostatic pressure,Lode stress parameter is the key factor that affects the differences between experimental and simulation results.Based on this concept,a new yield model with Lode dependence modified from von Mises criterion is postulated.Although one more parameter needs to be confirmed,the simulation results of this yield model are better than those of other criterions.Fengping YANG Qin SUN Wei HU 2009Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2009,22,2:1

8Widespread Bathyarchaeia encode a novel methyltransferase utilizing lignin-derived aromatics显示文摘Lignin degradation is a major process in the global carbon cycle across both terrestrial and marine ecosystems.Bathyarchaeia,which are among the most abundant microorganisms in marine sediment,have been proposed to mediate anaerobic lignin degradation.However,the mechanism of bathyarchaeial lignin degradation remains unclear.Here,we report an enrichment culture of Bathy-archaeia,named Candidatus Baizosediminiarchaeum ligniniphilus DL1YTT001(Ca.B.ligniniphilus),from coastal sediments that can grow with lignin as the sole organic carbon source under mesophilic anoxic conditions.Ca.B.ligniniphilus possesses and highly expresses novel methyltransferase 1(MT1,mtgB)for transferring methoxyl groups from lignin monomers to cob(I)alamin.MtgBs have no homology with known microbial methyltransferases and are present only in bathyarchaeial lineages.Heterologous expression of the mtgB gene confirmed O-demethylation activity.The mtgB genes were identified in metagenomic data sets from a wide range of coastal sediments,and they were highly expressed in coastal sediments from the East China Sea.These findings suggest that Bathyarchaeia,capable of O-demethylation via their novel and specific methyltransferases,are ubiquitous in coastal sediments.Tiantian Yu Haining Hu Xianhong Zeng Yinzhao Wang Donald Pan Longhui Deng Lewen Liang Jialin Hou Fengping Wang 2023mLife2023,2,3:0
9Expanding Asgard members in the domain of Archaea sheds new light on the origin of eukaryotes显示文摘The hypothesis that eukaryotes originated from within the domain Archaea has been strongly supported by recent phylogenomic analyses placing Heimdallarchaeota-Wukongarchaeota branch from the Asgard superphylum as the closest known archaeal sister-group to eukaryotes. However, our understanding is still limited in terms of the relationship between eukaryotes and archaea, as well as the evolution and ecological functions of the Asgard archaea. Here, we describe three previously unknown phylum-level Asgard archaeal lineages, tentatively named Sigyn-, Freyr-and Njordarchaeota. Additional members in Wukongarchaeota and Baldrarchaeota from distinct environments are also reported here, further expanding their ecological roles and metabolic capacities. Comprehensive phylogenomic analyses further supported the origin of eukaryotes within Asgard archaea and a new lineage Njordarchaeota was supposed as the known closest branch with the eukaryotic nuclear host lineage. Metabolic reconstruction suggests that Njordarchaeota may have a heterotrophic lifestyle with capability of peptides and amino acids utilization, while Sigynarchaeota and Freyrarchaeota also have the potentials to fix inorganic carbon via the Wood-Ljungdahl pathway and degrade organic matters. Additionally, the Ack/Pta pathway for homoacetogenesis and de novo anaerobic cobalamin biosynthesis pathway were found in Freyrarchaeota and Wukongrarchaeota,respectively. Some previously unidentified eukaryotic signature proteins for intracellular membrane trafficking system, and the homologue of mu/sigma subunit of adaptor protein complex, were identified in Freyrarchaeota. 10Metal-organic frameworks based single-atom catalysts for advanced fuel cells and rechargeable batteries显示文摘The next-generation energy storage systems such as fuel cells,metal-air batteries,and alkali metal(Li,Na)-chalcogen(S,Se)batteries have received increasing attention owing to their high energy density and low cost.However,one of the main obstacles of these systems is the poor reaction kinetics in the involved chemical reactions.Therefore,it is essential to incorporate suitable and efficient catalysts into the cell.These years,single-atom catalysts(SACs)are emerging as a frontier in catalysis due to their maximum atom efficiency and unique reaction selectivity.For SACs fabrication,metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have been confirmed as promising templates or precursors due to their high metal loadings,structural adjustability,porosity,and tailorable catalytic site.In this review,we summarize effective strategies for fabricating SACs by MOFs with corresponding advanced characterization techniques and illustrate the key role of MOFs-based SACs in these batteries by explaining their reaction mechanisms and challenges.Finally,current applications,prospects,and opportunities for MOFs-based SACs in energy storage systems are discussed.Yifei Wu Peng Hu Fengping Xiao Xiaoting Yu Wenqi Yang Minqi Liang Ziwei Liang Aixin Zhu 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,5:0
11Enrichment of anchoring sites by introducing supramolecular halogen bonds for the efficient perovskite nanocrystal LEDs显示文摘Considering the multi-functionalization of ligands,it is crucial for ligand molecular design to reveal the landscape of anchoring sites.Here,a typical triphenylphosphine(TPP)ligand was employed to explore its effect on the surface of CsPbI_(3)perovskite nanocrystals(PNCs).Except for the conventionally considered P-Pb coordination,an P-I supramolecular halogen bonding was also found on the NC surface.The coexistence of the above two types of bonding significantly increased the formation energy of iodine vacancy defects and improved the photoluminescence quantum yield of PNCs up to 93%.Meanwhile,the direct interaction of P and I enhanced the stability of the Pb-I octahedra and dramatically inhibited the migration of I ions.Furthermore,the introduction of additional benzene rings(2-(Diphenylphosphino)-biphenyl(DPB))increased the delocalized properties of the PNC surface and significantly improved the charge transport of the PNCs.As a result,the DPB passivated CsPbI_(3)NCs based top-emitting LEDs exhibite a peak external quantum efficiency(EQE)of 22.8%,a maximum luminance of 15,204 cd m^(−2),and an extremely low-efficiency roll-off of 2.6%at the current density of 500 mA cm^(−2).Po Lu Ting Li Min Lu Cheng Ruan Siqi Sun Zhennan Wu Yuan Zhong Fujun Zhang Yanbo Gao Yaowei Huang Yang Wang Junhua Hu Fengping Yan Yu Zhang 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,10:0
12Interactivemedical image segmentation with self-adaptive confidence calibration显示文摘Interactive medical image segmentation based on human-in-the-loop machine learning is a novel paradigm that draws on human expert knowledge to assist medical image segmentation.However,existing methods often fall into what we call interactive misunderstanding,the essence of which is the dilemma in trading off short-and long-term interaction information.To better use the interaction information at various timescales,we propose an interactive segmentation framework,called interactive MEdical image segmentation with self-adaptive Confidence CAlibration(MECCA),which combines action-based confidence learning and multi-agent reinforcement learning.A novel confidence network is learned by predicting the alignment level of the action with short-term interaction information.A confidence-based reward-shaping mechanism is then proposed to explicitly incorporate confidence in the policy gradient calculation,thus directly correcting the model’s interactive misunderstanding.MECCA also enables user-friendly interactions by reducing the interaction intensity and difficulty via label generation and interaction guidance,respectively.Numerical experiments on different segmentation tasks show that MECCA can significantly improve short-and long-term interaction information utilization efficiency with remarkably fewer labeled samples.The demo video is available at http://gffzzb7e5c6aafd9a44e9scvpup906bqx06p6n.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/mecca-demo-video.Chuyun SHEN Wenhao LI Qisen XU Bin HU Bo JIN Haibin CAI Fengping ZHU Yuxin LI Xiangfeng WANG 2023Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2023,24,9:0
