| 2 | Status and distribution changes of the endangered Green Peafowl (Pavo muticus) in China over the past three decades (1990s-2017)显示文摘Background: Understanding the changes in population dynamics, including demographics, distribution and threats, is essential for species status assessing. The endangered Green Peafowl(Pavo muticus) has experienced sharp population declines and distribution range diminishing both in China and Southeast Asia. Field population surveys have not been conducted in China since the 1990 s, which hindered conservation planning and decision-making.Methods: With interview and line transects methods, we figured out the population and distribution changes of Green Peafowl across its historical ranges over the past three decades in China during 2014-2017.Results: The Green Peafowl once habituated in 54 counties in China. Nearly 60% of the distribution counties were lost in the past three decades, with the left 22 counties distributed in central, southern and western Yunnan, SW China. Population decrease detected in all distribution areas except for Shuangbai and Xinping county where more than 60% of the total population is located. Only about 30% of the former bird population were recorded with the same interviewing method as 20 years ago. Three birds, 1 carcass, 6 calls and 12 footprints were detected along the 865 km line transects, indic-ating extremely low encounter rate of Green Peafowl in field. Sharp decreases in flock sizes were also detected, from 820 birds per flock in the 1990 s to 3-5 birds at present. Poaching and habitat conversion are two widespread and long-lasting threats, while poisoning caused mortality in the past and hydropower construction affect regional population's survival. Large flocks of 18–27 birds were discovered in the field, which increases our confidence of population recovery of this endangered pheasant in China.Conclusions: Only interviewed bird number and counts based on line transects were presented in this study, without further population estimation due to limitation of the data sets. | 3 | Optimized design and experiment on ring mold pelletizer for producing biomass fuel pellets显示文摘The forming process of biomass fuel pellets using a ring mold pelletizer was analyzed,optimized,tested and evaluated in this study.The effects of stress amplitude and the stress ratio on the fatigue failure of the ring mold under 4-,3-,and 2-roller designs were investigated.Depending on the calculation of stress amplitude acting on the ring mold,the 4-roller design was chosen for having the smallest value of stress amplitude in this condition.After determining the main design parameters,a three-dimensional model of the ring mold pelletizer was established based on the Pro/Engineer software,and the model was transferred into ADAMS software through Mechanism/Pro which is a dedicated interface software.The ADAMS software was used to run simulations.In order to obtain the highest efficiency and the lowest power consumption,the optimal result was the 4-roller design.Finally,a prototype of the ring mold pelletizer with four rollers was designed and manufactured for biomass fuel pellet production.Corn stover biomass was used as material for experimental manufacturing of fuel pellets.Test and evaluation showed that the optimized pellet durability was 99.79%with ground corn stover particles passing a screen size of 1.97 mm,moisture content of 21.2%w.b.and a material moisture conditioning time of 3.82 h.Pellets formed in the prototype ring mold pelletizer using corn stover had acceptable durability according to European standards. | Gao Wei Lope G Tabil Zhao Rongfei Liu Dejun | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,3: | 3 |
| 4 | Assessing Drought Conditions in Cloudy Regions Using Reconstructed Land Surface Temperature显示文摘Temperature vegetation dryness index(TVDI)in a triangular or trapezoidal feature space can be calculated from the land surface temperature(LST)and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),and has been widely applied to regional drought monitoring.However,thermal infrared sensors cannot penetrate clouds to detect surface information of sub-cloud pixels.In cloudy areas,LST data include a large number of cloudy pixels,seriously degrading the spatial and temporal continuity of drought monitoring.In this paper,the Remotely Sensed Daily Land Surface Temperature Reconstruction model(RSDAST)is combined with the LST reconstructed(RLST)by the RSDAST and applied to drought monitoring in a cloudy area.The drought monitoring capability of the reconstructed temperature vegetation drought index(RTVDI)under cloudy conditions is evaluated by comparing the correlation between land surface observations for soil moisture and the TVDI before and after surface temperature reconstruction.Results show that the effective duration and area of the RTVDI in the study area were larger than those of the original TVDI(OTVDI)in 2011.In addition,RLST/NDVI scatter plots cover a wide range of values,with the fitted dry–wet boundaries more representative of real soil moisture conditions.Under continuously cloudy conditions,the OTVDI inverted from the original LST(OLST)loses its drought monitoring capability,whereas RTVDI can completely and accurately reconstruct surface moisture conditions across the entire study area.The correlation between TVDI and soil moisture is stronger for RTVDI(R=-0.45)than that for OTVDI(R=-0.33).In terms of the spatial and temporal distributions,the R value for correlation between RTVDI and soil moisture was higher than that for OTVDI.Hence,in continuously cloudy areas,RTVDI not only expands drought monitoring capability in time and space,but also improves the accuracy of surface soil moisture monitoring and enhances the applicability and reliability of thermal infrared data under extreme conditions. | Shiqi YANG Dejun ZHANG Liang SUN Yongqian WANG Yanghua GAO | 2020 | Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,2: | 3 |
| 5 | Optical fiber SPR biosensor complying with a 3D composite hyperbolic metamaterial and a graphene film显示文摘In the present study, an optical fiber surface plasmon resonance(SPR) biosensor was developed for measuring time-and concentration-dependent DNA hybridization kinetics. Its design complies with a 3D Au∕Al2O3 multilayer composite hyperbolic metamaterial(HMM), a graphene film, and a D-shaped plastic optical fiber.According to the numerical simulation and the experimental demonstration, the SPR peak of the designed biosensor can be effectively altered in the range of visible to near-infrared by varying the HMM structure. The sensitivity of the appliance was shown to achieve a value of up to 4461 nm/RIU, allowing its applicability for bulk refractive index sensing. | 6 | VlbZIP30 of grapevine functions in dehydration tolerance via the abscisic acid core signaling pathway显示文摘Drought stress limits the growth and development of grapevines,thereby reducing productivity,but the mechanisms by which grapevines respond to drought stress remain largely uncharacterized.Here,we characterized a group A bZIP gene from“Kyoho”grapevine,VlbZIP30,which was shown to be induced by abscisic acid(ABA)and dehydration stress.Overexpression of VlbZIP30 in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana enhanced dehydration tolerance.Transcriptome analysis revealed that a major proportion of ABA-responsive and/or drought-responsive genes are transcriptionally regulated by VlbZIP30 during ABA or mannitol treatment at the cotyledon greening stage.We identified an A.thaliana G-box motif(CACGTG)and a potential grapevine G-box motif(MCACGTGK)in the promoters of the 39 selected A.thaliana genes upregulated in the transgenic plants and in the 35 grapevine homologs,respectively.Subsequently,using two grapevine-related databases,we found that 74%(23/31)and 84%(21/25)of the detected grapevine genes were significantly upregulated by ABA and drought stress,respectively,suggesting that these genes are involved in ABA or dehydration stress and may be regulated by VlbZIP30 in grapevine.We propose that VlbZIP30 functions as a positive regulator of dehydration-responsive signaling in the ABA core signaling pathway. | Mingxing Tu Xianhang Wang Yanxun Zhu Dejun Wang Xuechuan Zhang Ye Cui Yajuan Li Min Gao Zhi Li Yuejin Wang Xiping Wang | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 2 |
| 7 | The coral grayness in northern South China Sea and its description of interdecadal variation of precipitation in south China显示文摘The interdecadal variation of coral grayness in northern South China Sea (SCS) is studied using the annual mean coral grayness in northern SCS from 1789 to 1992 and annual precipitation at Guangzhou from 1908 to 1992 by Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA), correlation analysis, Mann-Kendall’s abrupt change analysis and composite analysis. The interdecadal variation of south China precipitation as reflected by the series of Guangzhou precipitation rebuilt with the coral grayness is discussed. The results show that the variation of coral grayness in SCS has significant terms of tendency, much-weighted interdecadal variation and weak interannual variation. There was a century-scale abrupt change of coral grayness at the end of the 1880s that changed from positive anomalies to negative anomalies. The global field of SST difference corresponding to the point of abrupt change was negative anomalies over the SCS and neighboring northern Indian Ocean, most of central and western Pacific Ocean and coastal areas of the northern Atlantic Ocean. The large-scale distribution of SST anomalies is concomitant with the century-scale abrupt change of coral grayness in SCS. Negative correlation exists between the coralgrayness in SCS and precipitation in Guangzhou on the interdecadal scale and the interdecadal precipitation in Guangzhou as reflected by the interdecadaldata of SCS coral grayness shows that the interdecadal variation of south China precipitation changes significantly from phase to phase. | 14 | The fluctuation of acoustic field due to internal waveson the thermocline in typical shallow water显示文摘In this paper, the results of experiments concerning the fluctuations of internal waves on the thermocline and the fluctuations of acoustic amplitudes at different ranges in typical shallow water are presented. Recorded time is 48.96 h. Thickness of the thermocline is about 2 m-4 m. The deviation of temperature recorded at a fixed depth is 10℃-15℃. The vertical displacement of isotherm curves is about 5 m-6 m, which is mainly dominated by the lowest model. The measured spectrums of vertical displacement have obvious spectral packet within the range of 0.05 cpm (20 min) and 0. 143 cpm (7 min) besides the diurnal and semidiurnal tide frequency bands. Spectrum attenuation coefficients are between -1.5 and -1.7. Numerical calculation shows that phase velocity and group velocity of internal waves are equal to 0.329 m/s at lower frequencies. And with the increasing of frequency, the group velocity differs from phase velocity at about 0.03 cpm (33.33 min) and drops more quickly. The measured fluctuation of acoustic amplitude is about 8 dB-10 dB. With the increasing of range, the fluctuation trends to be faster and acoustic signals are declining. Spectrum attenuation coefficients are between -1.45 and -2.0.
