1Characteristics of microbial community functional structure of a biological coking wastewater treatment system显示文摘Nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds are key pollutants in coking wastewater; however, the functional potential of microbial communities for biodegradation of such contaminants during biological treatment is still elusive. Herein, a high throughput functional gene array(Geo Chip 5.0)in combination with Illumina Hi Seq2500 sequencing was used to compare and characterize the microbial community functional structure in a long run(500 days) bench scale bioreactor treating coking wastewater, with a control system treating synthetic wastewater. Despite the inhibitory toxic pollutants, Geo Chip 5.0 detected almost all key functional gene(average61,940 genes) categories in the coking wastewater sludge. With higher abundance, aromatic ring cleavage dioxygenase genes including multi ring1,2 diox; one ring2,3 diox; catechol represented significant functional potential for degradation of aromatic pollutants which was further confirmed by Illumina Hi Seq2500 analysis results. Response ratio analysis revealed that three nitrogenous compound degrading genes-nbz A(nitro-aromatics), tdn B(aniline), and scn ABC(thiocyanate) were unique for coking wastewater treatment, which might be strong cause to increase ammonia level during the aerobic process. Additionally, Hi Seq2500 elucidated carbozole and isoquinoline degradation genes in the system. 3PrP mutants with different numbers of octarepeat sequences are more susceptible to the oxidative stress显示文摘One of the physiological functions of cellular prion protein(PrP C )is believed to work as a cellular resistance to oxidative stress,in which the octarepeats region within PrP plays an important role.However,the detailed mechanism is less clear.In this study,the expressing plasmids of wild-type PrP (PrP-PG5)and various PrP mutants containing 0(PrP-PG0),9(PrP-PG9)and 12(PrP-PG12)octarepeats were generated and PrP proteins were expressed both in E.coli and in mammalian cells.Protein aggregation and formation of carbonyl groups were clearly seen in the recombinant PrPs expressed from E.coli after treatment of H2O2.MTT and trypan blue staining assays revealed that the cells expressing the mutated PrPs within octarepeats are less viable than the cells expressing wild-type PrP.Statistically significant high levels of intracellular free radicals and low levels of glutathione peroxidase were observed in the cells transfected with plasmids containing deleted or inserted octarepeats.Remarkably more productions of carbonyl groups were detected in the cells expressing PrPs with deleted and inserted octarepeats after exposing to H2O2.Furthermore,cells expressing wild-type PrP showed stronger resistant activity to the challenge of H2O2 at certain extent than the mutated PrPs and mock. 4Impacts of produced water origin on bacterial community structures of activated sludge显示文摘The purpose of this study was to reveal how activated sludge communities respond to influent quality and indigenous communities by treating two produced waters from different origins in a batch reactor in succession. The community shift and compositions were investigated using Polymerase Chain Reaction–denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(PCR–DGGE) and further16 S ribosomal DNA(r DNA) clone library analysis. The abundance of targeted genes for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon(PAH) degradation, nah Ac/phn Ac and C12O/C23 O, was tracked to define the metabolic ability of the in situ microbial community by Most Probable Number(MPN) PCR. The biosystem performed almost the same for treatment of both produced waters in terms of removals of chemical oxygen demand(COD) and PAHs. Sludge communities were closely associated with the respective influent bacterial communities(similarity > 60%), while one sludge clone library was dominated by the Betaproteobacteria(38%) and Bacteriodetes(30%)and the other was dominated by Gammaproteobacteria(52%). This suggested that different influent and water quality have an effect on sludge community compositions. 5Feasibility assessment of up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket treatment of sulfamethoxazole pharmaceutical wastewater显示文摘Treatment of sulfamethoxazole pharmaceutical wastewater is a big challenge.In this study,a series of anaerobic evaluation tests on pharmaceutical wastewater from different operating units was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of using anaerobic digestion,and the results indicated that the key refractory factor for anaerobic treatment of this wastewater was the high sulfate concentration.A laboratory-scale up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket(UASB)reactor was operated for 195 days to investigate the effects of the influent chemical oxygen demand(COD),organic loading rate(OLR),and COD/SO_(4)^(2-) ratio on the biodegradation of sulfamethoxazole in pharmaceutical wastewater and the process performance.The electron flow indicated that methanogenesis was still the dominant reaction although sulfidogenesis was enhanced with a stepwise decrease in the influent COD/SO_(4)^(2-) ratio.For the treated sulfamethoxazole pharmaceutical wastewater,a COD of 4983 mg/L(diluted by 50%),OLR of 2.5 kg COD/(m^(3)·d),and COD/SO_(4)^(2-) ratio of more than 5 were suitable for practical applications.The recovery performance indicated that the system could resume operation quickly even if production was halted for a few days.Yi Chen Shilong He Mengmeng Zhou Tingting Pan Yujia Xu Yingxin Gao Hengkang Wang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:1

9Rapid removal of polyacrylamide from wastewater by plasma in the gas–liquid interface显示文摘Due to the severe restrictions imposed by legislative frameworks, the removal of polyacrylamide(PAM) rapidly and effectively from produced wastewater in offshore oilfields before discharge is becoming an urgent challenge. In this study, a novel advanced oxidation process based on plasma operated in the gas–liquid interface was used to rapidly decompose PAM, and multiple methods including viscometry, flow field-flow fractionation multi-angle light scattering, UV–visible spectroscopy, and attenuated total reflectanceFourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the changes of PAM.Under a discharge voltage of 25 kV and pH 7.0, the PAM concentration decreased from 100 to 0 mg/L within 20 min and the total organic carbon(TOC) decreased from 49.57 to1.23 mg/L within 240 min, following zero-order reaction kinetics. Even in the presence of background TOC as high as 152.2 mg/L, complete removal of PAM(100 mg/L) was also achieved within 30 min. The biodegradability of PAM improved following plasma treatment for 120 min. Active species(such as O3 and H2O2) were produced in the plasma. Hydroxyl radical was demonstrated to play an important role in the degradation of PAM due to the inhibitory effect observed after the addition of an ·OH scavenger, Na2CO3. 10Surface segregation of hydrogen in free-standing Pd-H alloy nanofilms显示文摘The interaction between mechanics and chemistry plays an essential and critical role in the behaviors and properties of materials,especially in nanoscale alloys. Based on the classical Gibbs and Mc Lean adsorption isotherms, the present study takes the freestanding nanometer thick films of Pd-H solid solutions as a typic example to investigate surface segregation of hydrogen. The surface eigenstress model is further developed here to give analytic formulas, which have the capability to quantitatively predict the size-dependent surface segregation. Molecular dynamics(MD) simulations are conducted on free-standing Pd-H nanofilms.The MD simulations verify the theoretical analytic results and determine the values of parameters involved in the theoretical analysis. The integrated theoretical and numerical study exhibits that both surface excess H concentration and apparent biaxial Young’s modulus of Pd-H thin films depend on the nominal H concentration and the film thickness. The MD simulations determine the values of three parameters involved in the theoretical analysis. 13Event-based sliding mode control under denial-of-service attacks显示文摘This paper deals with the problem of estimator-based sliding mode control against denial-of-service(DoS)attacks and discrete events via a time-delay approach.A networked system is considered an uncertain dynamical system with matched and mismatched perturbations and exogenous disturbance in the network environment.A network-resource-aware event-triggering mechanism is designed with aperiodically releasing system measurements.Furthermore,to describe the DoS attack duration and inter-event time,a time-delay modeling approach considers the DOS attack duration and inter-event time as a“time delay”of the measurements between the sensor and controller over the network is proposed.Consequently,an intervaltime-delay system with uncertainties is formulated.A state-observer-based sliding mode controller,by which the ideal sliding mode can be achieved,is proposed against the DoS attacks.The resulting sliding motion is proved to be robust and stable with an L_(2)gain performance.Finally,the effectiveness and applicability of the present sliding mode control are validated in a simulated pendulum system.Yingxin TIAN Xiang LI Bo DONG Yabin GAO Ligang WU 2022Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,6:0
14Bio-immobilization and recovery of chromium using a denitrifying biofilm system: Identification of reaction zone, binding forms and end products显示文摘Chromium is an important resource in strategic metals.Different from most studies focusing on the bio-reduction of hexavalent chromium[Cr(VI)],this study aims to achieve the immobilization and recovery of chromium using a sequencing batch biofilm reactor.Results showed that Cr(VI) removal efficiency remained more than 99%,and 97%of reduced Cr(III) was immobilized in the biofilm.Immobilization zone,chromium forms and extracellular polymeric substances composition changes were combined to reveal the mechanism of Cr(VI) reduction and immobilization.The chromium distribution in biofilm demonstrated that intercellular layer was the main active zone with an immobilization amount of 891.70±126.32 mg/g-VSS.The reduced products analysis confirmed that trivalent chromium[Cr(III)]chelated with carboxyl,amino and other functional groups and immobilized in the form of organic Cr(III).The digestion method realized a chromium recovery efficiency of 74.59%.This study provides an alternative method for the bioremediation and resources recovery in chromium polluted wastewater.Yingxin Zhao Junzhi Gao Xu Zhou Zhouran Li Cailian Zhao Xulong Jia Min Ji 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,4:0
