1Surface properties of bacteria from activated sludge in relation to bioflocculation显示文摘Two bacterial stains were isolated from the activated sludge and identified as Leucobacter sp.and Alcaligenes faecalis by 16S rDNA sequencing.Pure cultures of these two strains,representing well or poorly settled bacteria,were used to investigate the mechanism of bioflocculation in activated sludge.Based on the analyses of the characteristics of cells hydrophobicity,ζ-potential,flocculation ability and extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) composition under different growth stages,it was found that the ratio of cell EPS protein had the highly influence on ζ-potential and hydrophobicity,which were important factors to bioflocculation.Cellulase and Proteinase K could destroy the extracellular biopolymer and resulted in a decrease in the hydrophobicity and ζ-potential.However,in our study,the flocculation characteristics exhibited differently in relation to cellulase and Proteinase K.Flocculation of cells treated with cellulase and Proteinase K decreased sharply,and then recovered quickly in cellulase treatment,while cells treated with Proteinase K showed no sign of recovery.This reveals that the presence of protein in extracellular biopolymer plays an important role to the bioflocculation of cells.Bing Xie Jidong Gu Jun Lu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12:12
2La-EDTA coated Fe_3O_4 nanomaterial:Preparation and application in removal of phosphate from water显示文摘La-EDTA-Fe3O4 was prepared by a chemical co-precipitation method. The magnetic composite was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Furthermore, the adsorption properties of La-EDTA-Fe3O4 toward phosphate in water were investigated. The uptake rate of phosphate in water by La-EDTA-Fe3O4 was 3-1000 times than that of EDTA-Fe3O4 , and reached 97.8% at 7 hr. The adsorption process agreed well with the Freundlich model and kinetics studies showed that the adsorption of phosphate proceeds according to pseudo second-order adsorption kinetics. The maximum removal rate was achieved at pH 6.0-7.0. The La-EDTA-Fe3O4 had good adsorption properties and could be separated well from aqueous solution by a permanent magnet. 3Fe-doped TiO_2/SiO_2 nanofibrous membranes with surface molecular imprinted modification for selective photodegradation of 4-nitrophenol显示文摘In this study, Fe-doped TiO_2/SiO_2(Fe@TS) nanofibrous membranes with molecular imprinted modification, were fabricated by a combination of sol-gel process, electrospinning, calcination and liquid phase deposition techniques. The precursor sol was prepared from one-pot condensation of poly(vinylpyrrolidone), ferric chloride hexahydrate, tetraethyl orthosilicate and titanium n-butoxide in the mixture solvents of N,N-dimethylformamide and ethyl alcohol. Fibrous membrane wasthen fabricated by electrospinning, followed by calcination to form the Fe@TS composite. The physicochemical properties of Fe@TS were characterized. Thereafter, 4-nitrophenol(4 NP) was used as the template to deposit onto nanofibrous Fe@TS membranes, with a thin layer of molecular imprinted polymer in liquid phase. The photodegradation capabilities of 4 NP and methyl orange wereexamined in both single and binary systems. 4Osteogenic and antibacterial dual functions of a novel levofloxacin loaded mesoporous silica microspheres/nano-hydroxyapatite/ polyurethane composite scaffold显示文摘Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU has been proved to be a novel scaffold material to treat bone defect caused by chronic osteomyelitis.We have previously identified that this material can effectively treat chronic osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus in vivo.However,the potential mechanisms of antibacterial and osteogenic induction properties remain unclear.Thus,for osteogenesis property,immunohistochemistry,PCR,and Western blot were performed to detect the expression of osteogenic markers.Furthermore,flow cytometry and TUNEL were applied to analyze MC3T3-E1 proliferation and apoptosis.For antibacterial property,the material was co-cultivated with bacteria,bacterial colony forming units was counted and the release time of the effective levofloxacin was assayed by agar disc-diffusion test.Moreover,scanning electron microscope was applied to observe adhesion of bacteria.In terms of osteogenic induction,we found BMSCs adherently grew more prominently on Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU.Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU also enhanced the expression of osteogenic markers including OCN and COL1a1,as well as effectively promoted the transition from G1 phase to G2 phase.Furthermore,Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU could reduce apoptosis of MC3T3-E1.Besides,both Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU and n-HA/PU materials could inhibit bacterial colonies,while Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU possessed a stronger antibacterial activities,and lower bacterial adhesion than n-HA/PU.These results illustrated that Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU composite scaffold possess favorable compatibility in vitro,which induce osteogenic differentiation of MSCs,promote proliferation and differentiation of MC3T3-E1,and inhibit apoptosis.Moreover,clear in vitro antibacterial effect of Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU was also observed.In summary,this study replenishes the potential of Lev/MSNs/n-HA/PU composite scaffold possess dual functions of anti-infection and enhanced osteogenesis for future clinical application.Zhiping Kuang Guangming Dai Ruijie Wan Dongli Zhang Chen Zhao Cheng Chen Jidong Li Hongchen Gu Wei Huang 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,2:4

10Technical measures to achieve a cleaner production mode for recycled paper mills显示文摘China’s paper production reached 79.8×10^(6) t in 2008 and ranked number one in the world.Because of its high consumption of water,energy and materials and its serious pollution,the present processes are not likely to be sustainable.An alternative,the closed Water Loop-Papermaking Integration(WLPI)method,is put forward in this paper.The WLPI method can be realized in a recycled paper mill by adding technologies and using recycled water.Many industrial case studies have shown that a large quantity of water,energy and materials can be saved,and the quantity of waste sludge and wastewater discharge was minimized by using the WLPI method.The design of the water reuse system,control of calcium hardness,water recycling and minimal waste sludge are discussed.Anaerobic technology plays an important role in the WLPI method to lower cost,energy use and waste.In the brown paper and coated white board production,zeroeffluent discharge can be realized.Fresh water consumption is only 1-2m^(3)·t^(-1).For the paper mills with deinking and bleaching processes,about 10 m^(3)·t^(-1) of fresh water and a similar amount of effluent discharge are needed.Power saving using anaerobic technology is 70%when recycled water is used in comparison with the conventional activated sludge process.Waste sludge can be decreased to about 5%of the initial process due to reuse of the waste sludge and the lower bio-sludge production of the anaerobic process.Chao HE Zhaolin GU Shucheng YANG Jidong LIANG Weina DAI Yanling HE 2010Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2010,4,4:1

20Assessment of biochemical concentrations of vegetation using remote sensing technology显示文摘The main biochemicals (such as lignin, protein, cellulose, sugar, starch, chlorophyll and water) of vegetation are directly or indirectly involved in major ecological processes, such as the functions of terrestrial ecosystems (i.e., nutrient-cycling processes, primary production, and decomposition). Remote sensing techniques provide a very convenient way of data acquisition capable of covering a large area several times during one season, so it can play a unique and essential role provided that we can relate remote sensing measurements to the biochemical characteristics of the Earth surface in a reliable and operational way. The application of remote sensing techniques for the estimation of canopy biochemicals was reviewed. Three methods of estimating biochemical concentrations of vegetation were included in this paper: index, stepwise multiple linear regression, and stepwise multiple linear regression based on a model of the forest crown.
