Temporal and spatial dynamical simulation of groundwater characteristics in Minqin Oasis显示文摘Application scope of geostatistics has been gradually extended from original geologic field to soil science and ecological field, etc. and its successful application results have been widely demonstrated. But little information is reported as to the direct use of geostatistical method to work out the distribu- tion map of groundwater characteristics. In this paper the semivariogram of geostatistics, in combina- tion with GIS, was used to quantitatively study the spatial variation characteristics of groundwater table depth and mineralization degree and their relation to the landuse changes. F test of the used spherical model reached a very significant level, and the theoretical model can well reflect the spatial structural characteristics of groundwater table depth and mineralization degree and achieve an ideal result. This shows that the application of the method in the dynamical simulation of groundwater is feasible. And this paper also provides useful reference for the application of geostatistics in the study of the dy- namical variations of groundwater resources in the oasis. | XIAO DuNing LI XiaoYu SONG DongMei YANG GuoJing | 2007 | Science China Earth Sciences2007,50,2: | 7
Bone tissue regeneration:The role of finely tuned pore architecture of bioactive scaffolds before clinical translation显示文摘Spatial dimension of pores and interconnection in macroporous scaffolds is of particular importance in facilitating endogenous cell migration and bone tissue ingrowth. However,it is still a challenge to widely tune structure parameters of scaffolds by conventional methods because of inevitable pore geometrical deformation and poor pore interconnectivity. Here, the long-term in vivo biological performances of nonstoichiometric bioceramic scaffolds with different pore dimensions were assessed in critical-size femoral bone defect model. The 6%Mg-substituted wollastonite(CSi-Mg6)powders were prepared via wet-chemical precipitation and the scaffolds elaborately printed by ceramic stereolithography, displaying designed constant pore strut and tailorable pore height(200,320,450,600μm),were investigated thoroughly in the bone regeneration process.Together with detailed structural stability and mechanical properties were collaboratively outlined.BothμCT and histological analyses indicated that bone tissue ingrowth was retarded in 200μm scaffolds in the whole stage(2-16 weeks)but the 320μm scaffolds showed appreciable bone tissue in the center of porous constructs at 6-10 weeks and matured bone tissue were uniformly invaded in the whole pore networks at 16 weeks.Interestingly, the neo-tissue ingrowth was facilitated in the 450μm and 600μm scaffolds after 2 weeks and higher extent of bone regeneration and remodeling at the later stage. These new findings provide critical information on how engineered porous architecture impact bone regeneration in vivo.Simultaneously, this study shows important implications for optimizing the porous scaffolds design by advanced additive manufacture technique to match the clinical translation with high performance. | Ronghuan Wu Yifan Li Miaoda Shen Xianyan Yang Lei Zhang Xiurong Ke Guojing Yang Changyou Gao Zhongru Gou Sanzhong Xu | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,5: | 5
3D printing of Mg-substituted wollastonite reinforcing diopside porous bioceramics with enhanced mechanical and biological performances显示文摘Mechanical strength and its long-term stability of bioceramic scaffolds is still a problem to treat the osteonecrosis of the femoral head.Considering the long-term stability of diopside(DIO)ceramic but poor mechanical strength,we developed the DIO-based porous bioceramic composites via dilute magnesium substituted wollastonite reinforcing and three-dimensional(3D)printing.The experimental results showed that the secondary phase(i.e.10%magnesium substituting calcium silicate;CSM10)could readily improve the sintering property of the bioceramic composites(DIO/CSM10-x,x=0-30)with increasing the CSM10 content from 0%to 30%,and the presence of the CSM10 also improved the biomimetic apatite mineralization ability in the pore struts of the scaffolds.Furthermore, the flexible strength(12.5 -30 MPa)and compressive strength(14-37 MPa)of the 3D printed porous bioceramics remarkably increased with increasing CSM10 content, and the compressive strength of DIO/CSM10-30 showed a limited decay(from 37 MPa to 29 MPa)in the Tris buffer solution for a long time stage(8 weeks). These findings suggest that the new CSM10-reinforced diopside porous constructs possess excellent mechanical properties and can potentially be used to the clinic, especially for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head work as a bioceramic rod. | Dongshuang He Chen Zhuang Sanzhong Xu Xiurong Ke Xianyan Yang Lei Zhang Guojing Yang Xiaoyi Chen Xiaozhou Mou An Liu Zhongru Gou | 2016 | Bioactive Materials2016,1,1: | 5
Elusive cats in our backyards:persistence of the North Chinese leopard(Panthera pardus japonensis)in a human-dominated landscape in central China显示文摘The North Chinese leopard(Panthera pardus japonensis),the least-known big cat, disappeared in most historical range for decades, following the development of modern civilization.Unfortunately,we have scarce knowledge about the status of this big cat so far, apart from anecdotal reports. In this study,we investigated density, distribution, and habitat use of the leopard, the apex predator,in a complex forest landscape in the Loess Plateau. We used a camera-trapping network to obtain population estimates for leopards over 2 years through spatially explicit capture-recapture models. Our results, based on maximum likelihood and Bayesian/MCMC methods, reveal that the largest wild population of the leopard was found widely distributed in remnant forests in central Loess plateau. The population is increasing in our study area, and the density of leopards(1.70(SE=0.48)−2.40(SE=0.67)/100 km^(2))is higher than other areas of China.According to the analysis of 2 seasonal occupancy models, prey species drive partially the leopard habitat use, predicting that the big cat thrives from the recovery of prey community. However, human disturbances, especially oil wells, seem to have negative impacts on the habitat use of leopards.Specifically,it is necessary to have joint efforts by the government and researchers to improve human disturbances management and prey species population density,as well as strengthen the investment in research on the North Chinese leopard, which could all further strengthen protection ability and ensure the long-term survival of this species. | Haitao YANG Bing XIE Guojing ZHAO Yinan GONG Pu MOU Jianping GE Limin FENG | 2021 | Integrative Zoology2021,16,1: | 3
The hydrological linkage of mountains and plains in the arid region of northwest China显示文摘Mountain regions supply a large amount of fresh water for the people in arid and semiarid regions, however, there is great uncertainty of the water quantification from mountains to lower areas. In order to assess the hydrological significance of mountains and the hydrological linkage of mountains and plains, the measured and simulated hydrological data of the arid region in northwest China were used in the present research which followed a catchment-based approach. Firstly, the Heihe River Basin, a well-documented area, was selected as a specific watershed to reveal the hydrological relationship between highlands (mountains) and lowlands (plains); and then, the significance and disproportion of mountain runoff of 8 river basins as cases in the arid region of northwest China were analyzed and compared following the above analysis. The results of the study showed that the proportion of mountain runoff in total basinal runoff (PMR) of most rivers is above 50%. The PMR are between 50%-95% in the rivers originated in the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains where the aqueous vapor is relatively sufficient. And that, almost all the flow of the rivers originating from the Qilian Mountains, the southern slope of the Tianshan Mountains, and the northern slope of the Kunlun Mountains come from mountain regions. Also the PMR gradually increases from west to east in northwest China. The hydrological significance and disproportion of mountains water in the arid region of northwest China were given a systematic and thorough assessment, and the results could give potential guides for the scientific utilization of water resources in these regional areas for relieving the more and more serious shortage of water resources due to climate warming and population expansion. | QIN Jia DING YongJian YANG GuoJing | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,25: | 3
Quantitative Analysis of Natural and Human Factors of Oasis Change in the Tail of Shiyang River over the Past 60 Years显示文摘The human and natural factors complicit in the driving forces of oasis change have always received considerable interest from the international research community. In this study, we used principal component analysis of natural and socio-economic statistical factors to quantitatively analyze the causal relationships and their contributions to the observed periodic expansion or shrinkage of the Minqin Oasis over almost 60 years. Our results show that human factors were the dominant factors governing expansion or shrinkage, with average contributions of 69.38% and 76.16%, respectively. Moreover, policy decisions have been the pivotal human factors. Under the influence of various policies, we have found that water resource utilization, land reclamation, population explosion, ecological protection and economic development have each played leading roles in different periods. This study provides a scientific basis for modelling the dynamics of an oasis for sustainable management. | CHEN Yong YANG Guojing ZHOU Lihua LIAO Jie WEI Xuan | 2020 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2020,94,3: | 2
Causes and statistical characteristics of bridge failures:A review显示文摘Bridge failure, which is generally associated with serious economic and life losses, is defined as the incapacity of a constructed bridge or its components to perform as specified in the design and construction requirements. This paper presents an overview of current researches on the typical characteristics and causes of bridge failures based on 10 former investigations. Principal causes can be divided into internal causes and external causes or natural factors and human factors. Design error, construction mistakes, hydraulic, collision, and overload are the top 5 leading causes of bridge failures, resulting in more than70% of the bridge failures. Causes of bridge failures are closely related to regional economy, structural type, type of use, material type, and service age. The failure rate is very high for steel bridges, which is inseparable from excessive emphasis on structure strength but lack of consideration on structure stability and fatigue in early years. Researchers need to strengthen their research on the stability and fatigue of steel bridges, as well as inspection and maintenance. Extreme loads such as flood, collision, and overload contribute to a large number of bridge failures because of the lack of extreme loads data and design theory defects. It is critical for such bridges to have sufficient redundancy and capacity protection measures to reduce the probability of bridge failure due to extreme loads. Previous statistical methods and classification methods for the characteristics and causes of bridge failures lack unified standards, and a more scientific method needs to be established. A comprehensive electronic database on bridge damage and failures needs to be developed to establish damage models and conduct forensic studies to improve the design theory and specifications. | Guojing Zhang Yongjian Liu Jiang Liu Shiyong Lan Jian Yang | 2022 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2022,9,3: | 2
Osteosarcoma cell proliferation and migration are partly regulated by redox-activated NHE-1显示文摘Background:Osteosarcoma(OS)is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in children and adolescents.OS is associated with locally aggressive growth and high metastatic potential. The mechanisms that underlie these processes are currently elusive.Reactive oxygen species(ROS)and Na+/H+exchanger 1(NHE1)have been suggested to regulate proliferation and migration of tumor cells. However, the relationship between NHE1 and ROS in OS proliferation and migration has not been investigated before.Aim:To investigate the role of NHE1 and ROS in the proliferation and migration of OS.Methods:ROS levels and NHE1 expression were studied in cultured human OS cells and human OS xenografts in nude mice.In vitro,OS cells were treated with different doses of tert-butyl hydroperoxide(tBHP),a ROS inducer, and cariporide,an NHE1 inhibitor,to study the effect on cell proliferation and migration. In vivo, nude mice bearing OS cells were administrated with NHE1 inhibitor or antioxidant and the tumor weights were measured. Results:This study reported for the first time that the expression of NHE1 and intracellular ROS level were both increased in OS tissues and cells.Exposure of OS cell to ROS derived from tBHP was able to accelerate cell proliferation and migration and also up-regulate NHE1 protein expression. Moreover,tBHP significantly increased intracellular pH(pHi),decreased extracellular pH(pHe)and induced upregulation of ERK,MMP2,and MMP9.Lowering of ROS levels with the anti-oxidant DMTU or inhibiting NHE1 activity via cariporide abolished the stimulatory effect of tBHP.However, there cariporide did not affect intracellular ROS levels. In vivo study we further confirmed that cariporide could inhibit tumor growth in the nude mouse xenografts of OS cells. Conclusions:The data demonstrate that up-regulation of NHE1 was induced by low concentrations of ROS contributes to the regulation of tumor proliferation and invasion of OS.Relevance for patients:There is potential application for cariporide as an effective antitumor agent during the development of human osteosarcoma. In addition, redox modulation on proton transport may represent a novel target of osteosarcoma prevention, and open a new avenues for future research. | Hua Bai Guojing Chen Congwen Fang Xuekang Yang Sixun Yu Chunxu Hai | 2015 | Journal of Clinical & Translational Research2015,1,3: | 2

Combination of eddy current and heat treatment for crack healing and mechanical-property improvement in magnesium alloy tube显示文摘The continuous eddy current pulse treatment(ECPT)combined with heat treatment was employed to heal the microcracks in spin formed Mg alloy tubes and improve their mechanical properties in this study. The results show that all the microcracks in different tube specimens were almost healed after different continuous ECPT schemes up to 15 cycles. The schemes with less cooling intervals exhibited better healing effect and increased the strength and elongation of Mg alloy tubes more obviously. After aging treatment, the strength improvement of the specimens with ECPT was more remarkable than that of the specimens without ECPT,and the elongation decrease of the specimens with ECPT was less evident than that of specimens without ECPT due to the segregation of RE elements on the crack surface.Besides, after solution treatment, the strength reduction and ductility improvement of the specimens with ECPT were more pronounced than that of the specimens without ECPT owing to the notable decrease of dislocation density of the specimens with ECPT.Both narrowed cracks induced by ECPT and the segregation of precipitates in the vicinity of microcrack surface during aging treatment contributed to the maximum strength in the as-spun specimens with ECPT followed by aging treatment. | Wenchen Xu Chuan Yang Haiping Yu Xueze Jin Guojing Yang Debin Shan Bin Guo | 2021 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,5: | 1
Phosphorus-induced electronic structure reformation of hollow NiCo_(2)Se_(4) nanoneedle arrays enabling highly efficient and durable hydrogen evolution in all-pH media显示文摘With practical electrocatalytic hydrogen production frequently involving the splitting of water in various pH media, there is an urgent need but still a technical challenge to develop low-cost,highly active, and stable electrocatalysts for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).We report herein the adoption of a hydrothermal reaction combined with a post gas-phase doping strategy to fabricate P-doped NiCo_(2)Se_(4) hollow nanoneedle arrays on carbon fiber paper(i.e.,P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP).Notably,the optimal arrays(P8.71-NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP)can afford an outstanding pH-universal HER performance, with an overpotential as low as 33,57,and 69 mV at 10 mA·cm^(−2) and corresponding Tafel slopes down to 52,61,and 72 mV·dec^(−1) in acidic, alkaline, and neutral media, respectively, outperforming most state-of-the-art nonprecious catalysts and even the commercial Pt/C catalyst in both neutral and alkaline media at large current densities.Impressively,P_(8.71-)NiCo_(2)Se_(4)/CFP also displays good durability toward long-time stability testing in harsh acidic and alkaline electrolytes.Experimental and theoretical studies further reveal that the doping of P atoms into NiCo_(2)Se_(4) can simultaneously optimize its H*adsorption/desorption energy, water adsorption energy, and water dissociation energy by adjusting the local electronic states of various active sites, thus accelerating the rate-determining step of HER in different pH media to endow P-NiCo_(2)Se_(4) with an outstanding pH-universal HER performance. This work provides atomic-level insights into the roles of active sites in various electrolysis environments, thereby shedding new light on the rational design of highly efficient pH-universal nonprecious catalysts for HER and beyond. | Guojing Wang Yuzhuo Sun Yidan Zhao Yang Zhang Xiaohong Li Louzhen Fan Yunchao Li | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,10: | 1
Bioceramic scaffolds with triply periodic minimal surface architectures guide early-stage bone regeneration显示文摘The pore architecture of porous scaffolds is a critical factor in osteogenesis, but it is a challenge to precisely configure strut-based scaffolds because of the inevitable filament corner and pore geometry deformation. This study provides a pore architecture tailoring strategy in which a series of Mg-doped wollastonite scaffolds with fully interconnected pore networks and curved pore architectures called triply periodic minimal surfaces(TPMS),which are similar to cancellous bone, are fabricated by a digital light processing technique. The sheet-TPMS pore geometries(s-Diamond,s-Gyroid)contribute to a 3‒4-fold higher initial compressive strength and 20%-40%faster Mg-ion-release rate compared to the other-TPMS scaffolds, including Diamond,Gyroid, and the Schoen’s I-graph-Wrapped Package(IWP)in vitro. However,we found that Gyroid and Diamond pore scaffolds can significantly induce osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs).Analyses of rabbit experiments in vivo show that the regeneration of bone tissue in the sheet-TPMS pore geometry is delayed;on the other hand,Diamond and Gyroid pore scaffolds show notable neo-bone tissue in the center pore regions during the early stages(3-5 weeks)and the bone tissue uniformly fills the whole porous network after 7 weeks.Collectively, the design methods in this study provide an important perspective for optimizing the pore architecture design of bioceramic scaffolds to accelerate the rate of osteogenesis and promote the clinical translation of bioceramic scaffolds in the repair of bone defects. | Miaoda Shen Yifan Li Fengling Lu Yahui Gou Cheng Zhong Shukun He Chenchen Zhao Guojing Yang Lei Zhang Xianyan Yang Zhongru Gou Sanzhong Xu | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,7: | 1
