Macro to nanoscale deformation of transformation-induced plasticity steels:Impact of aluminum on the microstructure and deformation behavior显示文摘This work aims to elucidate the impact of aluminum-content on microstructure and deformation mechanisms of transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP) steels through macroscale and nanoscale deformation experiments combined with post-mortem electron microscopy of the deformed region. The solid-state transformation-induced mechanical deformation varied with the Al contents, and influenced tensile strength-ductility combination.Steels with 2–4 wt% Al were characterized by TRIP effect. In contrast to 2 Al-TRIP and 4 Al-TRIP steels,twinning-induced plasticity(TWIP) was also observed in conjunction with strain-induced martensite in 6 Al-TRIP steel. This behavior is attributed to the increase in stacking fault energy with the increase of Al content and stability of austenite, which depends on the local chemical variation. The study addresses the knowledge gap with regard to the effect of Al content on austenite stability in medium-Mn TRIP steels. This combination is expected to potentially enable cost-effective alloy design with high strength-high ductility condition.V.S.Y.Injeti Z.C.Li B.Yu R.D.K.Misra Z.H.Cai H.Ding 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,5:7
DSC AND TEM STUDY OF ULTRA HIGH STRENGTH ALUMINUM ALLOY显示文摘In this paper, the effect of RRA treatment on the microstructure evolution of a high strength aluminum alloy was investigated using DSC, TEM and SADP technology. The results show that the precipitation resulting from RRA is extremely fine and distributed homogeneously in the grains, being slightly coarser and more stable than that of T6 temper. While, the grain-boundary precipitation is very close to that of the alloy at T73 temper, being coarse and discontinuous. High retrogression temperature and long retrogression time leads to a more stable microstructure after re-aging.G.S.Xie Y.Zeng H.Ding 2004Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2004,17,4:2
Enhancing strength and ductility of AlSi10Mg fabricated by selective laser melting by TiB_(2)nanoparticles显示文摘In the metallic components fabricated by the emerging selective laser melting(SLM)technology, most strategies used for strengthening the materials sacrifice the ductility, leading to the so-called strengthductility trade-off.In the present study,we report that the strength and ductility of materials can be enhanced simultaneously by introducing nanoparticles, which can break the trade-off of the metallic materials. In the case of in-situ nano-TiB_(2)decorated AlSi10Mg composites, the introduced nanoparticles lead to columnar-to-equiaxed transition, grain refinement and texture elimination. With increasing content of nanoparticles, the strength increases continually.Significantly, the ductility first increases and then decreases. Our results show that the ductility is controlled by the competition between the crack-induced catastrophic fracture and ductile fracture associated with dislocation activities. The first increase of ductility is mainly attributed to the suppression of crack-induced catastrophic fracture when TiB_(2)nanoparticles present. With the further increase of TiB_(2)nanoparticles,the subsequent decrease of ductility is mainly controlled by dislocation activities. Thus, the materials will exhibit the optimum strength and ductility combination in a certain range of TiB_(2)nanoparticles.This study clarifies the physical mechanism controlling ductility for nano-TiB_(2)decorated Al Si10Mg composites, which provides the insights for the design of structural materials.Y.K.Xiao H.Chen Z.Y.Bian T.T.Sun H.Ding Q.Yang Y.Wu Q.Lian Z.Chen H.W.Wang 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,14:2
A STUDY OF EXPERT SYSTEM FOR SECTION EXTRUSION PROCESS BASED ON FINITE ELEMENT METHOD SIMULATION显示文摘The samples obtained by Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation for section extrusion process have been trained on BP Neural Networks. The mapping relationsbetween die’s geometrical parameters and energetic parameters, such as stress and strain generated in the die are established. The extrusion process model and its expert system are also determined. The excellent expansibility this system possesses provides a new prospect for the future development of expert system for section extrusion dies.H.W.Liu 1) , H.Ding 2) and J.Z.Cui 2) 1) School of Mechanical Engineering, Shenyang University, Shenyang 110044, China 2) School of Materials & Metallurgy, Northeastern University, Shenyang 110006, China 1999Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)1999,12,5:1
A APPLICATION OF ANSYS ON A SECTION EXTRUSION DIE显示文摘Porthole dies are important tools in extrusion process to produce hollow sections and the life of the dies counts for the cost of products. In this work, the finite element method was adopted to analyze a particular porthole die to produce hollow rectangle sections which are widely used in construction. The upper die was mainly studied. Because it is symmetrical, a quarter of the die was analyzed. The upper die was divided into 2199 elements with 3018 nodes. Elements were produced by four steps and the geometric shape of the die could be well simulated. The boundary condition was given according to the shape of the welding chamber and an empirical average extrusion stress was adopted, which was 210N/mm 2. Three-dimensional equivalent stresses were received. The original porthole die studied had obvious stress concentration and the stress distribution was very inhomogeneous, which would heavily affect the die life. A new design was proposed in which the portholes were rearranged and their shape and dimension were changed. According to the finite element analysis, the stress distribution of the improved die was quite homogeneous and the stress concentration was lessened.H.W.Liu 1) ,H.Ding 2) and J.Z.Cui 2) 1) School of Mechanical Engineering, Shenyang University, Shenyang 110044, China 2) School of Materials & Metallurgy, Northeastern University, Shenyang 110006, China 1999Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)1999,12,5:1
Simulation of Incompressible Viscous Flows by Local DFD-Immersed Boundary Method显示文摘A local domain-free discretization-immersed boundary method(DFDIBM)is presented in this paper to solve incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the primitive variable form.Like the conventional immersed boundary method(IBM),the local DFD-IBM solves the governing equations in the whole domain including exterior and interior of the immersed object. The effect of immersed boundary to the surrounding fluids is through the evaluation of velocity at interior and exterior dependent points. To be specific, the velocity at interior dependent points is computed by approximate forms of solution and the velocity at exterior dependent points is set to the wall velocity. As compared to the conventional IBM,the present approach accurately implements the non-slip boundary condition. As a result, there is no flow penetration, which is often appeared in the conventional IBM results. The present approach is validated by its application to simulate incompressible viscous flows around a circular cylinder. The obtained numerical results agree very well with the data in the literature.Y.L.Wu C.Shu H.Ding 2012Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2012,4,3:0
