2uSensing:a Universal Platform to Support Smartphones Accessing Wireless Sensor Networks显示文摘This paper presents a universal platform 'uSensing' to support smartphones to communicate with sensor nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs).Since phones have different CPU processers and operating systems,it is a challenge to merge these heterogeneities and develop such a universal platform.In this paper,we design both hardware and software to support the 'universal' feature of uSensing:1) 'uSD' card:an IEEE 802.15.4 physical communication card with SD interface;2) 'uSinkWare':a WSNs middleware running on smartphones.Integrated with uSD card and uSinkWare,phones become mobile data sinks to access into WSNs and parse messages from sensor nodes.We demonstrate the proposed uSensing platform in a commercial smartphone to connect with our WSNs testbed,and validate that the smartphone has the same WSNs functions as commercial fixed sink.Additionally,we evaluate the performance of uSensing platform through measuring phone's CPU load and power consumption,and analyze the performance of these metrics theoretically.The results suggest that the phone-based mobile sink has enough capability to serve as a mobile sink of WSNs and can work up to twenty hours due to low power consumption.He Nengqiang Jiang Chunxiao Dong Yuhan Ren Yong Chen Canfeng 2012China Communications2012,9,4:0
3Joint video adaptation and erasure code for video broadcast in wireless networks显示文摘Advances in wireless access technologies such as WiMax and LTE have accelerated the development of wireless video applications.Though existing erasure codes are designed for wireless data broadcasting,their potential can only be realized for wireless video broadcasting if the distortions associated with video packets and their complex decoding dependency are taken into consideration.In this paper,we propose the greedy video erasure code(GVEC)to minimize average video distortion by accounting for the temporal scalable decoding dependency among video frames e.g.I,P and B frames in MPEG.GVEC is a greedy algorithm and sufers from high computational complexity.For practical implementation,we have designed the joint video adaptation and erasure code(JVEC)with lower complexity,which can generate erasure codes on the fly to guarantee the decoding of important video frames.Simulation results show that the performance of JVEC is very close to that of GVEC,and is superior to that of existing erasure codes.Our results also show the existence of a performance tradeof between video distortion and video packet throughput.HE NengQiang ZHANG XueDan LI YiPeng CAO JianNong LI Zhu REN Yong 2013Science China(Information Sciences)2013,56,10:0
4Atmospheric Pressure-Aware Seamless 3-D Localization and Navigation for Mobile Internet Devices显示文摘This paper describes a seamless three-dimensional (3-D) localization and navigation system for smartphones.The smartphone includes an atmospheric pressure sensor to measure the user's altitude that is combined with the outdoor Global Positioning System (GPS) and indoor WiFi-APs localization systems in a seamless 3-D localization system.The smartphone software also provides seamless navigation services by updating map information for both indoor and outdoor locations through the mobile Internet.The indoor floor information calculated from the altitude information is used to project localization anchor nodes,e.g.,WiFi-AP,on different floors onto the user's floor with an indoor 3-D localization algorithm using projection distances based on a Received Signal Strength (RSS) algorithm.Tests show that the 3-D method reduces systematic errors and achieves much higher accuracy than the traditional two-dimensional localization method.Nengqiang He Jinhai Huo Yuhan Dong Yipeng Li Yang Yu Yong Ren 2012Tsinghua Science and Technology2012,17,2:0
