The biological effect of recombinant humanized collagen on damaged skin induced by UV-photoaging:An in vivo study显示文摘The application of medical devices to repair skin damage is clinically accepted and natural polymer enjoys an important role in this field, such as collagen or hyaluronic acid, etc. However, the biosafety and efficacy of these implants are still challenged. In this study,a skin damage animal model was prepared by UV-photoaging and recombinant humanized type Ⅲ collagen(rhCol Ⅲ)was applied as a bioactive material to implant in vivo to study its biological effect, comparing with saline and uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid(HA).Animal skin conditions were non-invasively and dynamically monitored during the 8 weeks experiment.Histological observation, specific gene expression and other molecular biological methods were applied by the end of the animal experiment. The results indicated that rhCol Ⅲ could alleviate the skin photoaging caused by UV radiation, including reduce the thickening of epidermis and dermis, increase the secretion of Collagen Ⅰ(Col Ⅰ)and Collagen Ⅲ(Col Ⅲ)and remodel of extracellular matrix(ECM).Although the cell-material interaction and mechanism need more investigation, the effect of rhCol Ⅲ on damaged skin was discussed from influence on cells, reconstruction of ECM,and stimulus of small biological molecules based on current results. In conclusion, our findings provided rigorous biosafety information of rhCol Ⅲ and approved its potential in skin repair and regeneration.Although enormous efforts still need to be made to achieve successful translation from bench to clinic, the recombinant humanized collagen showed superiorities from both safety and efficacy aspects.Jing Wang He Qiu Yang Xu Yongli Gao Peijie Tan Rui Zhao Zhanhong Liu Yajun Tang Xiangdong Zhu Chongyun Bao Hang Wang Hai Lin Xingdong Zhang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,5:7
Identification of an endogenous glutamatergic transmitter system controlling excitability and conductivity of atrial cardiomyocytes显示文摘As an excitatory transmitter system, the glutamatergic transmitter system controls excitability and conductivity of neurons.Since both cardiomyocytes and neurons are excitable cells,we hypothesized that cardiomyocytes may also be regulated by a similar system.Duanyang Xie Ke Xiong Xuling Su Guanghua Wang Qiang Ji Qicheng Zou Lingling Wang Yi Liu Dandan Liang Jinfeng Xue Luxin Wang Xueting Gao Xingdong Gu Hongyu Liu r Xiaoyu He Li Li Jian Yang Youming Lu Luying Peng Yi-Han Chen 2021Cell Research2021,31,9:5
Comparisons of plant calcium fraction between two different vegetation zones in semi-arid region显示文摘To explore the characteristics of plant calcium(Ca) fraction, we analyzed 91 plant species in the Ningxia Habahu National Nature Reserve in Yanchi County of Ningxia and 84 plant species in Zhenglan Banner of Inner Mongolia. Results show that, for the two regions, there is no significant difference between Ca fraction for the same growth type, and between water soluble Ca content or between hydrochloric acid soluble Ca content for plants of the same ecosystem and between hydrochloric acid soluble Ca content for plants of the same family. In similar vegetation zones, there is a significant difference among hydrochloric acid soluble Ca content for different growth types in Yanchi County and Zhenglan Banner, which was the highest for annual herbs and the lowest for perennial herbs. There is a significant difference between acetic acid soluble Ca content and between hydrochloric acid soluble Ca content for sandy land and grassland ecosystems in Yanchi County. There is a significant difference among the same Ca fraction of different families in the same region. Thus, the characteristics of plant Ca fraction are results of long-term adaptation to the environment.MengQi Li XingDong He XiangXiang Yang YueDan Zhao YuBao Gao 2018Research in Cold and Arid Regions2018,10,4:2
Effects of soil stoichiometry of the CaCO_3/available phosphorus ratio on plant density in Artemisia ordosica communities显示文摘In soil, CaCO3 can reduce the availability of phosphorus in arid and semi-arid regions, thereby influencing plant growth. However, the effects of soil stoichiometry of the CaCO3/available phosphorus ratio (CaCO3/AP ratio) on plant density are unknown. In this study, we examined 4 Artemisia ordosica communities located in arid and semi-arid regions, and performed a pot experiment with an orthogonal design to examine the relationships between the soil CaCO3/AP ratio and plant density. The results showed that the soil stoichiometry of the CaCO3/AP ratio had a greater effect on growth of A. ordosica than either CaCO3 or AP as single factor. The influence of the soil CaCO3/AP ratio on density of A. ordosica was related to the climatic zone and the types and/or amplitudes of increases in the soil CaCO3/AP ratio. When the soil CaCO3/AP ratio was within the same amplitude and was less than 2.5, the A. ordosica density increased in the semi-arid region, whereas the density decreased with increasing soil CaCO3/AP ratios in the arid region. In the semi-arid region, when the soil CaCO3/AP ratio was within the same amplitude and the increase in the soil CaCO3 content was greater than the increase in soil AP, the A. ordosica density increased with increasing soil CaCO3/AP ratios. This means that the relationship between the soil CaCO3/AP ratio and the A. ordosica density remained the same. In the arid region, an increase in the soil CaCO3/AP ratio as a result of increased soil CaCO3 content and decreased soil AP resulted in increased density of A. ordosica. Therefore, the relationship between soil CaCO3/AP ratios and density of A. ordosica was altered by these changes in soil chemistry. Thus, the soil stoichiometry of the CaCO3/AP ratio is an important factor affecting the density of A. ordosica in arid and semi-arid regions.ZHAO XueLai HE XingDong XUE PingPing ZHANG Ning WU Wei LI Rong CI HuaCong XU JingJing GAO YuBao ZHAO HaLin 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,5:2
Wet-spinning fabrication of shear-patterned alginate hydrogel microfibers and the guidance of cell alignment显示文摘Native tissue is naturally comprised of highly-ordered cell-matrix assemblies in a multi-hierarchical way,and the nano/submicron alignment of fibrous matrix is found to be significant in supporting cellular functionalization. In this study,a self-designed wet-spinning device appended with a rotary receiving pool was used to continuously produce shear-patterned hydrogel microfibers with aligned submicron topography. The process that the flow-induced shear force reshapes the surface of hydrogel fiber into aligned submicron topography was systematically analysed.Afterwards, the effect of fiber topography on cellular longitudinal spread and elongation was investigated by culturing rat neuron-like PC12 cells and human osteosarcoma MG63 cells with the spun hydrogel microfibers, respectively. The results suggested that the stronger shear flow force would lead to more distinct aligned submicron topography on fiber surface, which could induce cell orientation along with fiber axis and therefore form the cell-matrix dual-alignment.Finally,a multi-hierarchical tissue-like structure constructed by dual-oriented cell-matrix assemblies was fabricated based on this wet-spinning method. This work is believed to be a potentially novel biofabrication scheme for bottom-up constructing of engineered linear tissue, such as nerve bundle, cortical bone, muscle and hepatic cord. You Yang Jing Sun Xiaolu Liu Zhenzhen Guo Yunhu He Dan Wei Meiling Zhong Likun Guo Hongsong Fan Xingdong Zhang 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,5:2
Impacts of grazing and mowing on reproductive behaviors of Stipa grandis and Stipa krylovii in a semi-arid area显示文摘Disturbance can affect biomass allocation of plants, but can it influence plant reproductive behavior? To address this issue,we performed field plant community investigations and explored the reproductive behaviors of Stipa grandis and Stipa krylovii in response to grazing and mowing treatments at Maodeng pasture of Xilinguole League of Inner Mongolia,China during 2007–2009.The results showed that, with a similar niche width for the two plant species under mowing and grazing treatments, mowing significantly increased the ratio of ramet to genet number of S.krylovii and the carbon to nitrogen ratio of S.grandis, and grazing significantly decreased the ratio of vegetative to reproductive tiller biomass of S.grandis and increased the ratio of vegetative to reproductive tiller number of S.krylovii.Regression analysis showed that the significantly positive effect of root to shoot biomass ratio was stronger on the ratio of vegetative to reproductive tiller number of S.grandis than on that of S.krylovii.These results indicated that grazing and mowing influenced the reproductive manner and the process of sexual reproduction of S.grandis and S.krylovii.Hui GAO YuBao GAO XingDong HE 2014Journal of Arid Land2014,6,1:2

Seasonal dynamics of N:P ratio stoichiometry and Ca fraction for four dominant plants in the Alxa Desert显示文摘Desert plants take on unique physiologically adaptive mechanisms in response to an adverse environment. In this study, we determined the concentrations of leaf nitrogen(N), phosphorus(P), and calcium(Ca) fraction for dominant species of Artemisia ordosica, A. frigida, Calligonum mongolicum, and Oxytropis aciphylla in the Alxa Desert and discussed seasonal changes of their leaf N:P ratio and Ca fraction. The results showed that, from May to September, the N:P ratios of A. ordosica and C. mongolicum gradually and significantly increased, while those of A. frigida, and O. aciphylla had an increase trend that was not significant; the physiologically active Ca of A. ordosica and A. frigida increased significantly, while that of C. mongolicum and O. aciphylla decreased significantly. The physiologically inert calcium of C. mongolicum increased extremely significantly, while that of others was not significant. There was a significantly positive correlation between the N:P ratio and physiologically active Ca for A. ordosica, and the N:P ratio was significantly and negatively correlated with physiologically active Ca for O. aciphylla. These findings revealed that the physiological regulation mechanism was different for the plants either in earlier stage or later stage of plant-community succession.JianTan Guo XingDong He HongJuan Jing YuTing Liang 2018Research in Cold and Arid Regions2018,10,4:1
Effects of N:P ratio of Artemisia ordosica on growth influenced by soil calcium carbonate显示文摘Soil calcium carbonate(CaCO_3) has a strong solid phosphorus effect, and high content of CaCO_3 can significantly reduce the effectiveness of soil phosphorus. To reveal the limiting effect of soil CaCO_3 on the growth of plants on sand land and its mechanism of plant physiology, we performed pot experiments with a two-factor randomized block design and a three-factor orthogonal design for different soil CaCO_3 content treatments using Artemisia ordosica seedlings. In the experiments, we surveyed plant height, aboveground biomass, root length and root weight and analyzed N, P concentrations and RNA content of the seedlings, and discussed the relationships between relative growth rate(RGR) of the seedlings and N:P ratio as well as RNA. Results show that, the RGRs of plant height and above-ground biomass of the seedlings decreased significantly with the increase of soil CaCO_3 content, and those for root length and root weight decreased. The RGRs of plant height and above-ground biomass of the seedlings were significantly negatively correlated with leaf N:P ratios, but significantly positively correlated with leaf RNA content and leaf P concentrations. It can be seen that soil CaCO_3 is a stress factor for the growth of A. ordosica seedlings, and the growth response of the seedlings under the influence of soil CaCO_3 is in line with the Growth Rate Hypothesis.YuTing Liang XingDong He JianTan Guo HongJuan Jing 2018Research in Cold and Arid Regions2018,10,4:1
One-step co-doping of ZnO and Zn^(2+)in osteoinductive calcium phosphate ceramics with synergistic antibacterial activity for regenerative repair of infected bone defect显示文摘How to endow bone grafts with long-term antibacterial activity and good bone regenerative ability to achieve the regenerative repair of infected bone defects has been the focus of the clinical treatment of osteomyelitis. The present study introduced a novel one-step route to realizing the co-doping of zinc oxide(ZnO)and zinc ion(Zn^(2+))in biphasic calcium phosphate(BCP)ceramics to utilize their synergistic antibacterial.Compared with the conventional BCP ceramics(BCP-Ca),the ZnO/Zn^(2+)co-doping ones(BCP-Zn)possessed strong antibacterial ability on E.coli and S.aureus as well as stimulated the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)effectively. The synergistic antibacterial mechanism of ZnO and Zn^(2+)was also investigated.BCP-Zn showed excellent osteoinductivity and angiogenesis at three months postoperatively in the canine intramuscular implantation model.Moreover,BCP-Zn exhibited excellent anti-infective ability and bone regenerative repair compared to BCP-Ca and control groups in the infected bone defect model of rat femur.Collectively, these findings suggest that the simultaneous introduction of ZnO/Zn^(2+)could have immense potential to expand the application of osteoinductive BCP ceramics in the regenerative repair of infected bone defects.Tinghan He Hongxu Chen Puxin Liu Hao Shi Xiujuan Xu Cong Feng Yuyi Wang Xiangfeng Li Ning Lei Yumei Xiao Xiangdong Zhu Jianguo Xu Xingdong Zhang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,32:1
Effects of soil nitrate:ammonium ratio on plant carbon:nitrogen ratio and growth rate of Artemisia sphaerocephala seedlings显示文摘Can soil nitrate: ammonium ratios influence plant carbon: nitrogen ratios of the early succession plant? Can plant carbon: nitrogen ratios limit the plant growth in early succession? To address these two questions, we performed a two-factor (soil nitrate: ammonium ratio and plant density) randomized block design and a uniform-precision rotatable central composite design pot experiments to examine the relationships between soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, the carbon: nitrogen ratios and growth rate of Artemisia sphaerocephala seedlings. Under adequate nutrient status, both soil nitrate: ammonium ratios and plant density influenced the carbon: nitrogen ratios and growth rate of A. sphaerocephala seedlings. Under the lower soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, with the increase of soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, the growth rates of plant height and shoot biomass of A. sphaerocephala seedlings decreased significantly; with the increase of plant carbon: nitrogen ratios, the growth rates of shoot biomass of A. sphaerocephala seedlings decreased significantly. Soil nitrate: ammonium ratios affected the carbon: nitrogen ratios of A. sphaerocephala seedlings by plant nitrogen but not by plant carbon. Thus, soil nitrate: ammonium ratios influenced the carbon: nitrogen ratios of A. sphaerocephala seedlings, and hence influenced its growth rates. Our results suggest that under adequate nutrient environment, soil nitrate: ammonium ratios can be a limiting factor for the growth of the early succession plant.Rong Li XingDong He PingPing Xue HuaCong Ci Wei Wu YuBao Gao HaLin Zhao 2010Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,5:1

Effects of soil nitrogen:phosphorus ratio on growth rate of Artemisia ordosica seedlings显示文摘To address how the ratios of nitrogen and phosphorus (N:P ratios) in soil affect plant growth, we performed a two-factor (soil available N:P ratios and plant density) randomized block pot experiment to examine the relationships between soil N:P ratios, and the N:P ratios and growth rate of Artemisia ordosica seedlings. Under moderate water stress and adequate nutrient status, both soil N:P and plant density influenced the N:P ratios and growth rates of A. ordosica. With the increase of soil N:P ratios, the growth rates of A. ordosica seedlings decreased significantly. With the increase of soil N:P ratios, N:P ratios in A. ordosica seedlings increased significantly. While the nitrogen concentrations in the plant increased slightly, the phosphorus concentrations significantly decreased. With the increase of plant density, the shoot N:P ratios and growth rates significantly decreased, which resulted from soil N:P ratios. Thus, soil N:P ratios influenced the N:P ratios in A. ordosica seedlings, and hence, influenced its growth. Our results suggest that, under adequate nutrient environment, soil N:P ratios can be a limiting factor for plant growth.Wei Wu XingDong He HuaCong Ci Rong Li PingPing Xue YuBao Gao HaLin Zhao 2010Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,4:1
