| 1 | Fine-Tuning of MiR528 Accumulation Modulates Flowering Time in Rice显示文摘In plants,microRNA (miRNA) functions in the post-transcriptional repression of target mRNAs have been well explored.However,the mechanisms regulating the accumulation of miRNAs remain poorly under.stood.Here,we report that distinct mechanisms regulate accumulation of a monocot-specific miRNA,rice (Oryza sativa) miR528.At the transcriptional level,miR528 accumulated to higher levels in older plants than in young seedlings and exhibited aging-modulated gradual accumulation and diurnal rhythms in leaves;at the post-transcriptional level,aging also modulated miR528 levels by enhancing pri-miR528 alter.native splicing.We found that miR528 promotes rice flowering under long-day conditions by targeting RED AND FAR-RED INSENSITIVE2 (OsRFI2).Moreover,natural variations in the MIR528 promoter region caused differences in miR528 expression among rice varieties,which are correlated with their different binding affinities with the transcription factor OsSPL9 that activates the expression of miR528.Taken together,our findings reveal rice plants have evolved sophisticated modes fine-tuning miR528 levels and provide insight into the mechanisms that regulate MIRNA expression in plants. | Rongxin Yang Pingchuan Li Hailiang Mei Dong Wang Jing Sun Chao Yang Lili Hao Shouyun Cao Chengcai Chu Songnian Hu Xianwei Song Xiaofeng Cao | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,8: | 12 |

| 5 | The superiority of multi-trait models with genotype-by-environment interactions in a limited number of environments for genomic prediction in pigs显示文摘Background: Different production systems and climates could lead to genotype-by-environment(G × E) interactions between populations, and the inclusion of G × E interactions is becoming essential in breeding decisions. The objective of this study was to investigate the performance of multi-trait models in genomic prediction in a limited number of environments with G × E interactions.Results: In total, 2,688 and 1,384 individuals with growth and reproduction phenotypes, respectively, from two Yorkshire pig populations with similar genetic backgrounds were genotyped with the PorcineSNP80 panel.Single-and multi-trait models with genomic best linear unbiased prediction(GBLUP) and BayesC π were implemented to investigate their genomic prediction abilities with 20 replicates of five-fold cross-validation.Our results regarding between-environment genetic correlations of growth and reproductive traits(ranging from 0.618 to 0.723) indicated the existence of G × E interactions between these two Yorkshire pig populations. For single-trait models, genomic prediction with GBLUP was only 1.1% more accurate on average in the combined population than in single populations, and no significant improvements were obtained by BayesC π for most traits. In addition, single-trait models with either GBLUP or BayesC π produced greater bias for the combined population than for single populations. However, multi-trait models with GBLUP and BayesC π better accommodated G × E interactions,yielding 2.2% – 3.8% and 1.0% – 2.5% higher prediction accuracies for growth and reproductive traits, respectively,compared to those for single-trait models of single populations and the combined population. The multi-trait models also yielded lower bias and larger gains in the case of a small reference population. The smaller improvement in prediction accuracy and larger bias obtained by the single-trait models in the combined population was mainly due to the low consistency of linkage disequilibrium between the two populations, which also caused the BayesC π method to always produce the largest standard error in marker effect estimation for the combined population.Conclusions: In conclusion, our findings confirmed that directly combining populations to enlarge the reference population is not efficient in improving the accuracy of genomic prediction in the presence of G × E interactions, while multi-trait models perform better in a limited number of environments with G × E interactions. | Hailiang Song Qin Zhang Xiangdong Ding | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,1: | 6 |

| 9 | The effect of continuous Ni(Ⅱ) exposure on the organic degradation and soluble microbial product(SMP) formation in two-phase anaerobic reactor显示文摘A two-phase anaerobic reactor fed with glucose substrate(3 g chemical oxygen demand(COD)/L) was used to investigate the effects of toxic metals on the degradation of organics and the soluble microbial product(SMP) formation. Low concentrations of Ni(II)(5 and10 mg/L) promoted the acid phase, whereas high concentrations(15, 20, and 25 mg/L)exhibited an inhibitory effect on, but did not alter the fermentative method, which mainly involved the fermentation of propionic acid. The methanogenic microorganism exhibited a strong capability adapting constantly increased Ni(II) levels. The acid phase was an accumulation stage of SMP. In the absence of Ni(II), the high-molecular-weight material in the effluent SMP mainly contained polysaccharide, tryptophan, and casein. Methanogens metabolized most of the polysaccharide, the whole tryptophan content, and part of the casein, leading to the presence of humic acid and protein in effluent. After Ni(II) dosage, the protein and polysaccharide of the acid phase increased, and tryptophan changed, while casein remained stable. More protein than polysaccharide was produced, suggesting the prominent function of protein when addressing the negative effect of toxic metals. Irrational utilization of water and land resources results in eco-environmental deterioration in the Tarim River. In May 2000, the local government carried out the water conveyances project in the Tarim River. The influence of water conveyance on desertification reversion is analyzed and discussed according to the monitoring data in the past three years. Based on monitored data of the nine observed sections, along the channel of conveyance, the intensity and scope of desertification reversion in the upper reaches are larger than those in the lower reaches. Dynamic changes of desertification reversion are more obvious from the channel of conveyance to its two sides. However, the range of influence and intensity of desertification reversion is limited at present.
