1Visual tracking based on transfer learning of deep salience information显示文摘In this paper,we propose a new visual tracking method in light of salience information and deep learning.Salience detection is used to exploit features with salient information of the image.Complicated representations of image features can be gained by the function of every layer in convolution neural network(CNN).The characteristic of biology vision in attention-based salience is similar to the neuroscience features of convolution neural network.This motivates us to improve the representation ability of CNN with functions of salience detection.We adopt the fully-convolution networks(FCNs)to perform salience detection.We take parts of the network structure to perform salience extraction,which promotes the classification ability of the model.The network we propose shows great performance in tracking with the salient information.Compared with other excellent algorithms,our algorithm can track the target better in the open tracking datasets.We realize the 0.5592 accuracy on visual object tracking 2015(VOT15)dataset.For unmanned aerial vehicle 123(UAV123)dataset,the precision and success rate of our tracker is 0.710 and 0.429.Haorui Zuo Zhiyong Xu Jianlin Zhang Ge Jia 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,9:2
2Implementation of the Incremental Analysis Update Initialization Scheme in the Tropical Regional Atmospheric Modeling System under the Replay Configuration显示文摘In traditional simulations of heavy rainfall events, the regional model is often initialized by using a global reanalysis dataset and a cold start method. An alternative to using global analysis data is to gradually introduce the analysis field via an incremental analysis update(IAU) method under the replay configuration. We found substantial differences in the forecast of a heavy rainfall event in southern China between a precipitation forecast using the traditional method and a forecast using the IAU method in the Tropical Regional Atmospheric Modeling System(TRAMS),based on the ECMWF global analysis. The IAU method is efficient in removing spurious high-frequency gravity wave noise, especially when the relaxation time is more than 90 min. The regional model needs to be pre-integrated for about 12 h to warm up the convective system in the background field. The improvement by the IAU method is supported by verification of simulations over 1 month(1–30 April 2019). 3Phosphorus-doped NiS_(2)electrocatalyst with a hybrid structure for hydrogen evolution显示文摘In this article,P-NiS_(2)/Ni_(x)P electrocatalysts were synthesized by dealloying the Ni-Al precursor followed by phosphosulfide treatment.We found that the hybrid structure of P-NiS_(2)/Ni_(x)P provides rich active sites for the surface hydrogen evolution reaction (HER),and the doping of P enhances the electronic conductivity of electrodes.In particular,the obtained electrode shows a low overpotential of 196 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and a small Tafel slope of only 110 mV dec^(-1)in the HER.Meanwhile,longterm constant current electrolysis test experiments indicate that P-NiS_(2)/Ni_(x)P has good service stability.This research will help to open a new window on the design and fabrication of HER electrocatalysts.ZHOU Qi LIU HaoRui JIAO SunZhi FENG ChenChen 2022Science China(Technological Sciences)2022,65,7:1

9Empowered Stakeholders: Female University Students’ Leadership During the COVID-19-Triggered On-campus Evictions in Canada and the United States显示文摘The study of disaster-specific leadership of female university students has been largely neglected,especially during on-campus emergency eviction and evacuation.Based on the COVID-19-triggered,on-campus evictions across Canada and the United States,this cross-national partnership examined the out-of-province/state and international female university students’leadership during the entire eviction process.Through in-depth interviews,this study revealed the female university students’leadership behaviors during three stages:(1)pre-eviction:their self-preparedness formed an emotional foundation to support others;(2)peri-eviction:their attitude and leadership behavior enabled them to facilitate(psychologically and physically)their peers’eviction process;and(3)post-eviction:they continued to support their peers virtually and raised the general public’s awareness regarding the plight of vulnerable and marginalized populations.This article argues that the female university students’leadership that emerged during the eviction process became complementary to and even augmented the universities’official efforts and beyond.This leadership represents empirical evidence that contributes to the existing literature on gender and leadership by demonstrating female youth as empowered stakeholders rather than as merely passive victims.Future studies could develop detailed stratification of gender and age dimensions in order to portray a more comprehensive picture of the younger generation’s leadership in hazards and disaster research and practice.Haorui Wu Marla Perez-Lugo Cecilio Ortiz Garcia Frances Gonzalez Crespo Adriana Castillo 2021International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2021,12,4:1
10Human-Animal Interactions in Disaster Settings:A Systematic Review显示文摘This systematic review aimed to assess the current knowledge of human-animal interactions(HAIs)in disaster settings and identify areas for future research.A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses search was conducted on three multidisciplinary databases,identifying English-language journal articles published between January 2000and February 2022 that explored the benefits of and challenges associated with HAI in disasters and emergencies.The review analyzed 94 articles using both quantitative and qualitative methods.The review found a paucity of universal terminology to describe the bidirectional relationship between humans and animals during disasters and a failure to include all animal types in every stage of disaster and emergency management.Additionally,research predominantly focused on the health and well-being benefits of HAI for humans rather than animals.Efforts to promote social and environmental justice for humans and their co-inhabitants should support the welfare of both humans and animals in disaster settings.Four recommendations were developed based on these findings to increase the inclusion of HAI in research,policy,and practice.Limitations of the review included the exclusion of pre-2000 articles and all grey literature,limited research examining different combinations of animal and disaster types,and limited research outside of North America.Haorui Wu Lindsay K.Heyland Mandy Yung Maryam Schneider 2023International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2023,14,3:0
11Fine-grained phosphors for red-emitting mini-LEDs with high efficiency and super-luminance显示文摘Mini-LED backlights,combining color conversion materials with blue mini-LED chips,promise traditional liquid crystal displays(LCDs)with higher luminance,better contrast,and a wider color gamut.However,as color conversion materials,quantum dots(QDs)are toxic and unstable,whereas commercially available inorganic phosphors are too big in size to combine with small mini-LED chips and also have strong size-dependence of quantum efficiency(QE)and reliability.In this work,we prepare fine-grained Sr_(2)Si_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)-based red phosphors with high efficiency and stability by treating commercially available phosphors with ball milling,centrifuging,and acid washing.The particle size of phosphors can be easily controlled by milling speed,and the phosphors with a size varying from 3.5 to 0.7 mm are thus obtained.The samples remain the same QE as the original ones(~80%)even when their particle size is reduced to 3.2-3.5 mm,because they contain fewer surface suspension bond defects.More importantly,SrBaSi_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)phosphors show a size-independent thermal quenching behavior and a zero thermal degradation.We demonstrate that red-emitting mini-LEDs can be fabricated by combining the SrBaSi_(5)N_(8):Eu^(2+)red phosphor(3.5 mm in size)with blue mini-LED chips,which show a high external quantum efficiency(EQE)of above 31%and a super-high luminance of 34.3 Mnits.It indicates that fine and high efficiency phosphors can be obtained by the proposed method in this work,and they have great potentials for use in mini-LED displays.Yu KANG Shuxing LI Rundong TIAN Guangzhu LIU Haorui DONG Tianliang ZHOU Rong-Jun XIE 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,9:0
12Electrochromism and photoelectrochemical performance of WO_(3)/Au composite film electrodes显示文摘WO_(3)/Au composite film electrode was prepared by hydrothermal combined electrodeposition method.The samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD),and the results showed that WO_(3)/Au composite film was synthesized.Electrochemical and spectral measurements were carried out to obtain the electrochromic response time,reversibility,coloration efficiency(CE) and transmittance of the WO_(3)/Au composite film.The photoelectrochemical properties of the samples were characterized by measuring photocurrent and photocatalytic degradation efficiency.The results show that compared with pure WO_(3) nanoblocks,WO_(3)/Au composite film improves the electrochromic property,photocurrent and photoelectric catalysis activity.Among them,WO_(3)/Au composite film prepared by depositing Au nanoparticles in 80 s showed the highest electrochromic property,photocurrent and photoelectric catalysis activity.Meanwhile,compared with direct photocatalysis(DP) and electrocatalysis(EC),the photoelectrocatalysis(PEC) activity of the composite film is the highest.LIU Chunlei YANG Jikai LIU Haorui ZHAO Yiming 2023Optoelectronics Letters2023,19,11:0
13Synthesis and Flocculation of Polyacrylamide with Low Water Absorption for Non-dispersible Underwater Concrete显示文摘The polyacrylamide which is directly added into concrete shows strong water absorption property.Thus the construction of underwater constructure would demand high amount of water,resulting in poor workability of concrete and strength shrinkage after hardening.Herein,a kind of anionic polyacrylamide(APAM)grafted with water reducing functional group(-COOH)was synthesized at low temperatures by partial factor design and response surface design.The structure and morphology of APAM were characterized by UV,FTIR and SEM methods.The experimental results show that the molecular weight of the synthesized APAM could reach 11 million,under the condition that the temperature was 35℃,the pH value was 8,the monomer concentration was 27wt%,the initiator dosage was 0.6wt%,and the monomer ratio(n(AM):n(AA))was 3.When the APAM was applied into the underwater slurry,it presented good flocculation and low water demand.When the dosage was 1%of the mass of the cement,the water demand increased by 12%,which could meet the self-leveling and anti-dispersity of the underwater slurry at the same time.This technology provides technical guidance for the large-scale industrial production of polyacrylamide for underwater concrete construction while achieving environmental protection during production.LI Hongling YAN Na SUN Guowen ZHENG Haorui YANG Xinyu 2023Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2023,38,6:0
14Quick Responses of Canadian Social Scientists to COVID-19:A Case Study of the 2020 Federal COVID-19-Specific Grant Recipients显示文摘COVID-19 prompted an abundance of independent and collaborative quick response disaster research(QRDR)initiatives globally.The 2020 federal COVID-19-driven granting opportunities initiated the first official QRDR effort in Canadian history,engaging social scientists to rapidly address the pandemic-related societal influences.This study aims to portray the landscape of this nascent social science QRDR workforce through the first round of federal COVID-19-specific grant recipients.A case study approach was employed to analyze 337 social science projects with 1119 associated researchers,examining the demographic structure of these COVID-19-driven social science researchers and their research projects'characteristics.Accordingly,the findings are presented through the following two streams:(1)From a researcher perspective,this case study describes researcher typology,geographic location,primary discipline,and educational background,highlighting the diverse characteristics of social sciences researchers,and uneven research development across Canada.(2)From a research project perspective,this case study identifies and synthesizes research project subjects,themes,collaborations,and Canadian distinctions,emphasizing the need for galvanizing cooperation and focusing on uniquely Canadian contexts.The case study illustrates challenges associated with data curation that pose barriers to developing a nuanced understanding of the Canadian social science community COVID-19 research landscape.Consequently,the case study develops three recommendations to improve QRDR development in Canada:promoting information transparency,dissemination,and updates;improving hazards and disaster research workforce evaluation;and enhancing multi-stakeholder cooperation.Haorui Wu Adele Mansour 2022International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2022,13,4:0
