| 3 | Study of cyanide removal from contaminated water using zinc peroxide nanomaterial显示文摘The present study highlights the potential application of zinc peroxide(ZnO_2)nanomaterial as an efficient material for the decontamination of cyanide from contaminated water. A process patent for ZnO_2 synthesis has been granted in United States of America(US Patent number 8,715,612; May 2014),South Africa,Bangladesh, and India. The ZnO_2 nanomaterial was capped with polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)to control the particle size. The PVP capped ZnO_2nanomaterial(PVP-ZnO_2)before and after adsorption of cyanide was characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope,X-ray diffractometer,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and time of flight-secondary ion mass spectrometry. The remaining concentration of cyanide after adsorption by PVP-ZnO_2 was determined using ion chromatograph. The adsorption of cyanide over PVP-ZnO_2 was also studied as a function of p H,adsorbent dose, time and concentration of cyanide. The maximum removal of cyanide was observed in p H range 5.8–7.8 within 15 min. The adsorption data was fitted to Langmuir and Fruendlich isotherm and it has been observed that data follows both the isotherms and also follows second order kinetics. | Himani Uppal S. | 4 | Combination immunotherapy with Survivin and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone fusion protein in murine breast cancer model显示文摘AIM To investigate the therapeutic potential of two recombinant proteins, Survivin and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) fusion protein [LHRH(6 leu)-LTB] for immunotherapy of breast cancer.METHODS Murine 4 T-1 breast cancer model was used to evaluate the efficacy of recombinant proteins in vivo. Twenty four Balb/c mice were divided into 4 groups of 6 mice each. Recombinant Survivin and LHRH fusion protein, alone or in combination, were administered along with immunomodulator Mycobacterium indicus pranii (MIP) in Balb/c mice. Unimmunized or control group mice were administered with phosphate buffer saline. Each group was then challenged with syngeneic 4 T-1 cells to induce the growth of breast tumor. Tumor growth was monitored to evaluate the efficacy of immune-response in preventing the growth of cancer cells.RESULTS Preventive immunization with 20 μg recombinant Survivin and MIP was effective in suppressing growth of 4 T-1 mouse model of breast cancer (P = 0.04) but 50 μg dose was ineffective in suppressing tumor growth. However, combination of Survivin and LHRH fusion protein was more effective in suppressing tumor growth (P = 0.02) as well as metastasis in vivo in comparison to LHRH fusion protein as vaccine antigen alone.CONCLUSION Recombinant Survivin and MIP suppress tumor growth significantly. Combining LHRH fusion protein with Survivin and MIP enhances tumor suppressive effects marginally which provides evidence for recombinant Survivin and LHRH fusion protein as candidates for translating the combination cancer immunotherapy approaches. | Himani Garg Rohit Singh Hada Jagdish C Gupta G P Talwar Shweta Dubey | 2018 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2018,9,8: | 2 |

| 6 | Gender prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in the geriatric population of India: A meta-analysis using R显示文摘BACKGROUND Population ageing is an important challenge for developed as well as developing countries due to the downward trends in mortality rates. The elderly population is increasing worldwide.Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are one of the most common diseases in the geriatric population. These diseases involve the heart or blood vessels and include hypertension, rheumatic heart disease, heart failure, and heart attack. An estimated 17.7 million people in India will die from CVDs representing 31%of all global deaths.AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the gender prevalence of CVDs in the geriatric population of India.METHODS In the present study,we searched databases such as Google Scholar,PubMed and MEDLINE from the year 2003 to 2019 to identify the prevalence of CVDs in the Indian geriatric population.A meta-analysis was conducted using the statistical software R version 3.4.3 and the random effect model was used to determine the pooled estimate of the prevalence of CVDs in the geriatric population of India along with the 95%confidence interval rather than using the fixed effect model. The random effect model takes into consideration the heterogeneity across the various studies.RESULTS The prevalence of CVDs in the Indian geriatric population was determined in 6586 male subjects from 32 studies and 8164 female subjects from 32 studies, respectively. The overall prevalence of CVDs in the Indian geriatric population was 36.6%(95%CI:31.9%-41.3%).In addition, calculation of the various heterogeneity statistics(Cochran’s Q=3836.85,I2=98.6%,P<0.0001)indicated heterogeneity in the prevalence of CVDs in the elderly Indian population in these studies. The prevalence of CVDs in elderly males was 38.0%(95%CI:33.0%-43.0%)and the prevalence of CVDs in elderly females was 40.9%(95%CI:35.5%-46.2%).CONCLUSION The results indicate that the prevalence of CVDs in the female geriatric population was relatively higher than that in the male geriatric population.Policy makers must take immediate steps to prevent CVDs and improve geriatric health care services in India. | Himani Nanda Vijay Kumar Shivgotra | 2020 | World Journal of Meta-Analysis2020,8,1: | 1 |

| 13 | Removal of aflatoxin M1 from milk and aqueous medium by indigenously isolated strains of W.confusa H1 and L.plantarum S2显示文摘Employing LAB and/or their metabolites to reduce aflatoxins from food products is one of the fascinating areas of research. Therefore,in the present work an attempt was made to study the effect of isolated lactic acid bacteria(LAB)on the reduction of aflatoxin M1(AFM1)from phosphate buffer saline(PBS)and reconstituted skim milk(RSM).Out of 68 isolates, nine strains of LAB isolated from food products were examined to bind and reduce AFM1.The isolates were incubated with AFM1 at different time and temperature(24 h,48 h,and 72 h at 37℃ and 4℃)and later the residual toxin in the supernatant was determined. The preliminary results through thin layer chromatography(TLC)revealed that all isolates were able to bind AFM1 in PBS.However, based on the intensity of spots observed in TLC sheets,it was indicated that two isolates,H1 and S2 genotypically identified as W.confusa and L.plantarum shown better AFM1 binding ability as compared to other isolates.Further, the heat treated cells of both the selected strains did not show significant difference to AFM1 binding ability as compared to live cells. Results of high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)observed that W.confusa H1 and L.plantarum had shown 78% and 72%AFM1 binding in PBS at 37℃ after 72 h.There was a significant difference(P<0.05)in AFM1 binding ability of L.plantarum S2 at 37℃&4℃,but such difference was not observed for W.confusa H1.Moreover,these isolates also observed reduction of naturally present AFM1 in 10%RSM.This is the first study reporting the AFM1 binding capability of the genus Weissella(strain W.confusa H1)and Enterococcus durans. These results showed that indigenous strains of LAB are able to bind AFM1 effectively. | Himani J.Chaudhary Ami R.Patel | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,45,1: | 1 |

| 19 | Correlation between bioactive lipids and novel coronavirus:constructive role of biolipids in curbing infectivity by enveloped viruses, centralizing on EPA and DHA显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)belongs to the family coronaviridae. It is spherical and possesses proteins called spikes, which can clamp onto the human cells.Once in close interaction with the human cells, these viruses undergo structural change and can fuse with the cell membrane. The virus enters the host and starts the process of translation and transcription in the cells and uncoated genome, respectively.Due to the rapid transmittable nature of the virus, extant actions should be taken. The fatty acids administrated orally,or intravenously, could help us gear things up in providing resistance and preventing infection.Hence, the multiplication of the virus could be hindered by arachidonic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid(EPA),and docosahexaenoic acid(DHA).In that context, the current review highlights the role of these unsaturated fatty acids and their derivatives such as lipoxins and resolvins in the inactivation of the enveloped coro-navirus disease 2019(COVID-19). | Himani Aryan Abhishek Saxena Archana Tiwari | 2021 | Systems Microbiology and Biomanufacturing2021,1,2: | 1 |
