| 1 | Netrin-1 works with UNC5B to regulate angiogenesis in diabetic kidney disease显示文摘Netrin-1,an axon guidance factor,and its receptor UNC5B play important roles in axonal development and angiogenesis.This study examined netrin-1 and UNC5B expression in kidneys with diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and investigated their roles in angiogenesis.Netrin-1 and UNC5B were upregulated in streptozotocininduced DKD Wistar rats,and their expression was compared with that in healthy controls.However,exogenous netrin-1 in UNC5B-depleted human renal glomerular endothelial cells (HRGECs) inhibited cell migration and tubulogenesis.This effect was likely associated with SRC pathway deactivation.Netrin-1 treatment also eliminated the pro-angiogenic effects of exogenous VEGF-165 on UNC5B-silenced HRGECs.These results indicate that UNC5B antagonizes netrin-1 and that UNC5B upregulation contributes partly to enhancing angiogenesis in DKD.Therefore,introducing exogenous netrin-1 and depleting endogenous UNC5B are potential strategies for reducing the incidence of early angiogenesis and mitigating kidney injury in DKD. | Xiaojing Jiao Dong Zhang Quan Hong Lei Yan Qiuxia Han Fengmin Shao Guangyan Cai Xiangmei Chen Hanyu Zhu | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,3: | 7 |
| 2 | Functional assembly of root-associated microbial consortia improves nutrient efficiency and yield in soybean显示文摘Root-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and nutrient acquisition. However, scant information exists on optimizing communities of beneficial root-associated microbes or the mechanisms underlying their interactions with host plants. In this report, we demonstrate that rootassociated microbes are critical influencers of host plant growth and nutrient acquisition. Three synthetic communities(SynComs) were constructed based on functional screening of 1,893 microbial strains isolated from root-associated compartments of soybean plants. Functional assemblage of SynComs promoted significant plant growth and nutrient acquisition under both N/P nutrient deficiency and sufficiency conditions.Field trials further revealed that application of SynComs stably and significantly promoted plant growth, facilitated N and P acquisition, and subsequently increased soybean yield. Among the tested communities, SynCom1 exhibited the greatest promotion effect, with yield increases of up to 36.1% observed in two field sites. Further RNA-seq implied that SynCom application systemically regulates N and P signaling networks at the transcriptional level, which leads to increased representation of important growth pathways, especially those related to auxin responses. | 13 | Pharmacodynamic advantages and characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine in prevention and treatment of ischemic stroke显示文摘Ischemic stroke(IS) is a severe cerebrovascular disease with a high incidence, mortality, and disability rate. The first-line treatment for IS is the use of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator(r-t PA).Regrettably, numerous patients encounter delays in treatment due to the narrow therapeutic window and the associated risk of hemorrhage. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has exhibited distinct advantages in preventing and treating IS. TCM enhances cerebral microcirculation, alleviates neurological disorders, regulates energy metabolism, mitigates infammation, reduces oxidative stress injuries, and inhibits apoptosis, thereby mitigating brain damage and preventing IS recurrence. This article summarizes the etiology, pathogenesis, therapeutic strategies, and relationship with modern biology of IS from the perspective of TCM, describes the advantages of TCM in the treatment of IS, and further reviews the pharmacodynamic characteristics and advantages of TCM in the acute and recovery phases of IS as well as in post-stroke complications. | 16 | INTERCROPPING TEA PLANTATIONS WITH SOYBEAN AND RAPESEED ENHANCES NITROGEN FIXATION THROUGH SHIFTS IN SOIL MICROBIAL COMMUNITIES显示文摘Intercropping with eco-friendly crops is a well-known strategy for improving agriculture sustainability with benefits throughout the soil community,though the range of crop impacts on soil microbiota and extent of feedbacks to crops remain largely unclear.This study evaluated the impacts of different intercropping systems on soil bacterial community composition,diversity,and potential functions in tea gardens.Intercropping systems were found to be significantly influenced soil microbiota.Within the three tested intercropping systems(tea-soybean,tea-rapeseed and tea-soybean-rapeseed),the teasoybean-rapeseed intercropping system had the most dramatic influence on soil microbiota,with increases in richness accompanied by shifts in the structure of tea garden soil bacterial networks.Specifically,relative abundance of potentially beneficial bacteria associated with essential mineral nutrient cycling increased significantly in the tea-soybean-rapeseed intercropping system.In addition,soil microbial functions related to nutrient cycling functions were significantly enhanced.This was in accordance with increasing relative abundance of nitrogen cycling bacteria,including Burkholderia spp.and Rhodanobacter spp.Based on these results,it is proposed that intercropping tea plantation with soybean and rapeseed may benefit soil microbiota,and thereby promises to be an important strategy for improving soil health in ecologically sound tea production systems. | Yongjia ZHONG Lini LIANG Ruineng XU Hanyu XU Lili SUN Hong LIAO | 2022 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2022,9,3: | 0 |

| 18 | Adsorption behavior of CO_(2) in magnesite micro-pores at high temperature and pressure显示文摘The fluid inclusions in mantle rocks and melt indicated that a large amount of CO_(2)fluid exists in the deep earth,which is of great significance for understanding the deep carbon cycle and the composition of mantle.However,it was also suggested that carbonate minerals were likely to be the main host of mantle carbon.At the same time,the distribution and behavior of carbon in the mantle still remain a puzzle.In this paper,the adsorption behavior and occurrence characteristics of supercritical CO_(2)in magnesite(MgCO3)pores were studied by the Grand Canonical Monte Carlo method(GCMC)under the different conditions of CO_(2)pressures(0–100 MPa),temperatures(350–1500 K)and the pore sizes(7.5–30Å).The simulated results showed that the adsorption of CO_(2)in magnesite was a physical adsorption,which was mainly controlled by the intermolecular force.The gas adsorption became more stable when the adsorption site shifted from the high energy site to the low energy site with increasing pressure(P)and decreasing temperature(T)and pore size.At the same time,the variations of excess adsorption amounts of CO_(2)in the pores of magnesite(Nexcess)under the different conditions were quantitatively calculated.It was found that the Nexcess decreased with increasing T,but increased with increasing P and pore size.The results favor understanding the CO_(2)migration,seismic precursor observations,and heat transfer process in the deep earth. | Longxing Yang Lei Liu Hong Liu Li Yi Xiaoyu Gu Haibo Liu Hanyu Wang | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,2: | 0 |
