1Diaphragm disease compared with cryptogenic multifocal ulcerous stenosing enteritis显示文摘As the use of drugs such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) increases,so too do gastrointestinal ulcers,bleeding,perforation and obstruction.Diaphragm disease of the small intestine is formed by submucosal fibrosis and destruction of lamina muscularis due to chronic ulceration,which corresponds to the most severe stage of NSAID enteropathy.It may lead to stricture of the small intestine.If such ulcerations and strictures in the small intestine are multiple,differential diagnosis is between diaphragm disease and cryptogenic multifocal ulcerous stenosing enteritis (CMUSE),because the gross findings of diaphragm disease are similar to those of CMUSE.We report a rare case of diaphragm disease caused by NSAID.It has been finally confirmed by capsule endoscopy and the origin of chronic obscure gastrointestinal bleeding was found to be multiple ulcers and strictures in the small intestine.After operation,we diagnosed the patient with diaphragm disease rather than CMUSE.Sook Hee Chung Yunju Jo Sang Ryol Ryu Sang Bong Ahn Byoung Kwan Son Seong Hwan Kim Young Sook Park Young Ok Hong 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,23:5
2Analysis on sports and recreation activity-related eye injuries presenting to the Emergency Department显示文摘AIM:To investigate the incidence and general characteristics of sports-related eye injuries in patients visiting the Emergency Department. METHODS: A cross-sectional,multi-center,observational study.Patients with an injured eye who visited the Emergency Department at one of nine hospitals in Korea were enrolled.All data were prospectively collected between March and September 2010 using a questionnaire.Eye injuries that occurred during risky sports were examined by gender and age.Additionally,the rate of open globe injuries that occurred with and without protective eyewear was examined for each activity.Continuous variables were compared using Student's t-test and categorical variables were compared using Chi-square test.RESULTS: A total of 446 patients had sports-related eye injuries.Teenagers(10-19 years old) and young adults(20-29 years old) had the most eye injuries.Eye injuries accounted for 0.2% of Emergency Department patients.Baseball was the most common cause of sports-related eye injuries,followed by soccer and hiking.Protective gear was worn by 9.4% of all patients.Patients that were 30-39 years of age had the highest rate of protective gear use,followed by patients that were 40-49 years of age.The proportion of sports-related eye injuries that were open-globe injuries was highest for soccer and hiking.CONCLUSION: Although injuries were most common in patients below the age of 10 years,these patients had the lowest rate of protective eyewear use.Injuries in adults over 40 years of age most commonly occurred during hiking,but the rate of protective eyewear use was low.Young athletes should be educated on and provided with protective eyewear and policies protective gear use should be established.For older adults,eye protection should be encouraged,especially during hiking.Sungbae Moon Hyun Wook Ryoo Jae Yun Ahn Jung Bae Park Kang Suk Seo Sang Do Shin Kyoung Jun Song Kang Hyun Lee In Sool Yoo Jin Seong Cho Hyun Ho Ryu Tae Oh Jeong Seok Ran Yeom Young Taek Kim Sung Ok Hong 2016International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,10:3
3Ethanol extract of Kalopanax septemlobus leaf inhibits HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cell proliferation via inducing cell cycle arrest at G_1 phase显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of an ethanol extract of Kalopanax septemlobus(Thunb.)Koidz.leaf(EEKS) on cell proliferation in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells and its mechanisms of action.Methods:Cells were treated with EEKS and subsequently analyzed for cell proliferation and flow cytometry analysis.Expressions of cell cycle regulators were determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction analysis and Western blotting,and activation of eyclin-associaled kinases studied using kinase assays.Results:The EEKS suppressed cell proliferation in both HepG2 and Hep3 B cells,but showed a more sensitive anli-proliferative activity in HepG2 cells.Flow cytometry analysis revealed an association between the growth inhibitory effect of EEKS and with G_1 phase cell cycle arrest in HepG2 cells,along with the dephosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein(pRB) and enhanced binding of pRB with the E2 F transcription factor family proteins.Treatment with EEKS also increased the expression of cyclin-dependent kinase(CDK) inhibitors,such as p21WAF1/CIP1 and p27KIP1.without any noticeable changes in G_1 cyclins and CDKs(except for a slight decrease in CDK4).Treatment of HepG2 cells with EEKS also increased the binding of p21 and p27 with CDK4 and CDK6.which was paralleled by a marked decrease in the cyclin D- and cyclin E-associated kinase activities.Conclusions:Overall,our findings suggest that EEKS may be an effective treatment for liver cancer through suppression of cancer cell proliferation via G_1,cell cycle arrest Further studies arc required to identify the active compounds in EEKS.Cheol Park Ji-Suk Jeong Jin-Woo Jeong Sung Ok Kim Yong-Joo Kim Gi-Young Kim Su-Hyun Hong Yung Hyun Choi 2016Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2016,9,4:3
4Whole-genome,transcriptome,and methylome analyses provide insights into the evolution of platycoside biosynthesis in Platycodon grandiflorus,a medicinal plant显示文摘Triterpenoid saponins(TSs)are common plant defense phytochemicals with potential pharmaceutical properties.Platycodon grandiflorus(Campanulaceae)has been traditionally used to treat bronchitis and asthma in East Asia.The oleanane-type TSs,platycosides,are a major component of the P.grandiflorus root extract.Recent studies show that platycosides exhibit anti-inflammatory,antiobesity,anticancer,antiviral,and antiallergy properties.However,the evolutionary history of platycoside biosynthesis genes remains unknown.In this study,we sequenced the genome of P.grandiflorus and investigated the genes involved in platycoside biosynthesis.The draft genome of P.grandiflorus is 680.1 Mb long and contains 40,017 protein-coding genes.Genomic analysis revealed that the CYP716 family genes play a major role in platycoside oxidation.The CYP716 gene family of P.grandiflorus was much larger than that of other Asterid species.Orthologous gene annotation also revealed the expansion ofβ-amyrin synthases(bASs)in P.grandiflorus,which was confirmed by tissue-specific gene expression.In these expanded gene families,we identified key genes showing preferential expression in roots and association with platycoside biosynthesis.In addition,wholegenome bisulfite sequencing showed that CYP716 and bAS genes are hypomethylated in P.grandiflorus,suggesting that epigenetic modification of these two gene families affects platycoside biosynthesis.Thus whole-genome,transcriptome,and methylome data of P.grandiflorus provide novel insights into the regulation of platycoside biosynthesis by CYP716 and bAS gene families.Jungeun Kim Sang-Ho Kang Sin-Gi Park Tae-Jin Yang Yi Lee Ok Tae Kim Oksung Chung Jungho Lee Jae-Pil Choi Soo-Jin Kwon Keunpyo Lee Byoung-Ohg Ahn Dong Jin Lee Seung-il Yoo In-Gang Shin Yurry Um Dae Young Lee Geum-Soog Kim Chang Pyo Hong Jong Bhak Chang-Kug Kim 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:2

20Plasmonic Ag‑Decorated Few‑Layer MoS2 Nanosheets Vertically Grown on Graphene for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting显示文摘A controllable approach that combines surface plasmon resonance and twodimensional(2D)graphene/MoS2 heterojunction has not been implemented despite its potential for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting.In this study,plasmonic Ag-decorated 2D MoS2 nanosheets were vertically grown on graphene substrates in a practical large-scale manner through metalorganic chemical vapor deposition of MoS2 and thermal evaporation of Ag.The plasmonic Ag-decorated MoS2 nanosheets on graphene yielded up to 10 times higher photo-to-dark current ratio than MoS2 nanosheets on indium tin oxide.The significantly enhanced PEC activity could be attributed to the synergetic effects of SPR and favorable graphene/2D MoS2 heterojunction.Plasmonic Ag nanoparticles not only increased visible-light and near-infrared absorption of 2D MoS2,but also induced highly amplified local electric field intensity in 2D MoS2.In addition,the vertically aligned 2D MoS2 on graphene acted as a desirable heterostructure for efficient separation and transportation of photo-generated carriers.This study provides a promising path for exploiting the full potential of 2D MoS2 for practical large-scale and efficient PEC water-splitting applications.Dong‑Bum Seo Tran Nam Trung Dong‑Ok Kim Duong Viet Duc Sungmin Hong Youngku Sohn Jong‑Ryul Jeong Eui‑Tae Kim 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,12:1
