| 2 | Cystatin C is a biomarker for predicting acute kidney injury in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘AIM:To investigate serum cystatin C level as an early biomarker for predicting acute kidney injury(AKI)in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF).METHODS:Fifty-six consecutive patients with hepatitis B virus-related ACLF who had normal serum creatinine(Cr)level(<1.2 mg/dL in men,or<1.1 mg/dL in women)were enrolled in the Liver Failure Treatment and Research Center of Beijing 302 Hospital between August 2011 and October 2012.Thirty patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)and 30 healthy controls in the same study period were also included.Measurement of serum cystatin C(CysC)was performed by a particle-enhanced immunonephelometry assay using the BN Prospec nephelometer system.The ACLF patients were followed during their hospitalization period.RESULTS:In the ACLF group,serum level of CysC was 1.1±0.4 mg/L,which was significantly higher(P<0.01)than those in the healthy controls(0.6±0.3mg/L)and CHB patients(0.7±0.2 mg/L).During the hospitalization period,eight ACLF patients developed AKI.Logistic regression analysis indicated that CysC level was an independent risk factor for AKI development(odds ratio=1.8;95%CI:1.4-2.3,P=0.021).The cutoff value of serum CysC for prediction of AKI in ACLF patients was 1.21 mg/L.The baseline CysC-based estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR CysC)was significantly lower than the creatinine-based eGFR(eGFR CG and eGFR MDRD)in ACLF patients with AKI,suggesting that baseline eGFR CysC represented early renal function in ACLF patients while the Cr levels were still within the normal ranges.CONCLUSION:Serum CysC provides early prediction of renal dysfunction in ACLF patients with a normal serum Cr level. | Zhi-Hong Wan Jian-Jun Wang Shao-Li You Hong-Ling Liu Bing Zhu Hong Zang Chen Li Jing Chen Shao-Jie Xin | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,48: | 20 |
| 3 | Clinical characteristics and corticosteroid therapy in patients with autoimmune-hepatitis-induced liver failure显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinical features,response to corticosteroids,and prognosis of autoimmune hepatitis(AIH)-induced liver failure in China.METHODS:A total of 22 patients(19 female and 3male;average age 51±15 years)with AIH-induced liver failure treated in our hospital from 2004 to 2012were retrospectively analyzed.Clinical,biochemical and pathological characteristics of the 22 patients and responses to corticosteroid treatment in seven patients were examined retrospectively.The patients were divided into survivor and non-survivor groups,and the clinical characteristics and prognosis were compared between the two groups.The t test was used for data analysis of all categorical variables,and overall survival was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method.RESULTS:At the time of diagnosis,mean IgG was2473±983 mg/dL,with three(18.8%)patients showing normal levels.All of the patients had elevated serum levels of antinuclear antibody(≥1:640).Liver histology from one patient showed diagnostic pathological changes,including massive necrosis and plasma cell infiltration.Four patients survived(18.2%)and 18died(81.8%)without liver transplantation.The results showed that patients with low admission Model for End-Stage Liver Disease(MELD)scores(21.50±2.08vs 30.61±6.70,P<0.05)and corticosteroid therapy(100%vs 16.7%,P<0.05)had better prognosis.A total of seven patients received corticosteroid therapy,of whom,four responded and survived,and the other three died.Survivors showed young age,shorter duration from diagnosis to corticosteroid therapy,low MELD score,and absence of hepatic encephalopathy at the time of corticosteroid administration.Six patients who were administered corticosteroids acquired fungal infections but recovered after antifungal therapy.CONCLUSION:Early diagnosis and corticosteroid therapy are essential for improving the prognosis of patients with AIH-induced liver failure without liver transplantation. | Bing Zhu Shao-Li You Zhi-Hong Wan Hong-Ling Liu Yi-Hui Rong Hong Zang Shao-Jie Xin | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,23: | 10 |
| 4 | Microstructure and wear-resistant properties of NiCr–Cr_3C_2 coating with Ni45 transition layer produced by laser cladding显示文摘NiCr–Cr3C2 metal–ceramic composite coating is commonly produced on metal substrate by laser cladding to be used as wear-resistant coating under medium- or high-temperature working conditions.The coating has high hardness, generally over three times that of the substrate.In order to make the hardness increase gradually from substrate to coating surface, the nickel-based alloy Ni45 was chosen as the transition layer and Ni Cr–Cr3C2 coating was indirectly cladded on 20Cr2Ni4 A substrate.Microstructure and composition of the coating were characterized by scanning electron microscope(SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Microhardness of the cross section of the coating was measured.Friction and wear behavior of Ni Cr–Cr3C2coating and substrate were investigated through sliding against the Si C ball at 20, 100 and 300 °C.The morphologies of worn surfaces were analyzed by SEM and EDS.The results show that the hardness of Ni45 transition layer is between that of the substrate and Ni Cr–Cr3C2coating, which avoids hardness jump and stress concentration of the coating.Ni Cr–Cr3C2coating contains hard phases of Cr3C2 and Cr7C3which enhance the wear resistance.With thetemperature increasing, friction coefficient and wear rate of the substrate increase significantly.Compared with the substrate, Ni Cr–Cr3C2coating has lower friction coefficient and wear rate at 100 and 300 °C, which verifies the good wear resistance of NiCr–Cr3C2 coating. | Chun-Cheng Zang Yan-Zhong Wang Yi-Du Zhang Jin-Hua Li Hong Zeng De-Qiang Zhang | 2015 | Rare Metals2015,34,7: | 9 |

| 6 | Variability in the composition and export of silica in the Huanghe River Basin显示文摘Concentrations of suspended particle material(SPM), dissolved silicate(DSi), biogenic silica(BSi), phytoliths(plant produced siliceous microscopic structures), and other parameters were analyzed to examine the influence of both natural processes and human activities on silica delivery to the estuary of the Huanghe River(Yellow River). Our results indicate that the concentrations of DSi in the river decreased significantly since 1986. Approximately 34% of dissolved silica was trapped in the basin between 1986 and 2010 due to a reduction of soil erosion. Phytoliths comprised 67.2%–96.3% of BSi, with the smoothing bar type being the dominant form. Concentrations of BSi are significantly higher in the Huanghe River compared to other major rivers throughout the world due to its high sediment yield. We also found that the ratios of BSi/(BSi+DSi) and BSi/SPM were approximately 0.5 and 0.003 at Lijin near the river mouth, indicating that BSi carried in suspension by the Huanghe River was an important component of the rivers silica load. Significant amounts of BSi were also composed of phytoliths in Bohai Sea sediments near the Huanghe River estuary with the smoothing bar form again being the most abundant. The relatively high specific fluxes of BSi in the Huanghe River reflect its high turbidity and high erosion rates in the basin. The high sediment load originating on the Loess Plateau is likely responsible for the higher BSi flux, in agreement with a general trend of increasing BSi flux with increasing sediment flux in global river systems. This study demonstrates that BSi transported by rivers can be composed largely of phytoliths originating from the erosion of topsoils. | 7 | Robust superhydrophobic polyurethane sponge functionalized with perfluorinated graphene oxide for efficient immiscible oil/water mixture, stable emulsion separation and crude oil dehydration显示文摘In recent years, graphene oxide(GO), prepared by the modified Hummers’ method, and its derivatives have become a focus of research owing to their outstanding physical and chemical properties and low cost. Drawing inspiration from the mussel protein,a facile and environmentally-friendly method was employed to fabricate superhydrophobic/superoleophilic reduced graphene oxide(rGO) derivative. The preparation comprises two steps: coating GO nanosheets with polydopamine(PDA) and subsequent reaction with 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorodecanethiol. Due to the excellent adhesive ability of PDA, the resulting f PDA modified rGO nanosheets(rGO-f PDA) were firmly immobilized onto polyurethane(PU) sponge skeleton by a simple drop-coating method. The as-prepared rGO-f PDA functionalized sponge exhibited superhydrophobic behavior with a water contact angle of 162°±2°, high organic adsorption capacity, recyclability and stable oil/water separation behavior under different acidic/alkaline conditions. | 8 | Effects of magnesium on the performance of sows and their piglets显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of supplemental magnesium(Mg) on the performance of gilts and parity 3 sows and their piglets.Fifty-six gilts(Trial 1) and 56 sows(Trial 2) were assigned to one of 4treatments according to their mating weight,respectively.The treatments comprised corn-soybean meal based gestation and lactation diets(0.21%magnesium) supplemented with 0,0.015,0.03,or 0.045%Mg from mating until weaning.The results showed that magnesium supplementation significantly(P < 0.05) reduced the weaning to estrus interval in both gilts and sows.There were significant effects(P < 0.05) of supplemental magnesium on the total number of piglets born,born alive and weaned in sows.In late gestation and lactation,the digestibility of crude fiber(quadratic effects,P< 0.05),and crude protein(P< 0.05),were significantly influenced by magnesium in gilts and sows,respectively.There were differences among the 4 groups in terms of the apparent digestibility of dry matter and crude fiber in sows(P< 0.05) during both early and late gestation.The apparent digestibility of gross energy was increased for sows in late gestation(P< 0.05),and lactation(quadratic effects,P< 0.05).At farrowing and weaning,serum prolactin levels and alkaline phosphate activities linearly increased in sows as the Mg supplementation increased(P < 0.05).Serum Mg of sows at farrowing and serum urea nitrogen of sows at weaning was significantly influenced by Mg supplementation(P< 0.05).The Mg concentration in sow colostrum and the serum of their piglets were increased by supplemental magnesium(P < 0.05).In addition,growth hormone levels were linearly elevated(P< 0.05) in the serum of piglets suckling sows.Our data demonstrated that supplemental magnesium has the potential to improve the reproduction performance of sows,and the suitable supplemental dose ranged from 0.015%to 0.03%. | Jianjun Zang Jingshu Chen Ji Tian Aina Wang Hong Liu Shengdi Hu Xiangrong Che Yongxi Ma Junjun Wang Chunlin Wang Guanghua Du Xi Ma | 2015 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,1: | 3 |
| 9 | INFLUENCE OF THE SCORER PARAMETER PROFILE ON THE WAVELENGTH OF TRAPPED LEE WAVES显示文摘A three-layer theoretical model was established,in which the atmosphere is divided into three layers based on the Scorer parameter l2 ,which is large in the middle layer and small in the other two layers. The wave number formula of lee waves was deduced with this theoretical model,and a typical example for the lee wave was calculated. Thus,the influence of changes in the thickness of every layer and values of the Scorer parameter in every layer was examined. The results show that the wavelength decreases with an increase in the thickness of the lower and the middle layers and is more sensitive to the changes in the middle layer. Therefore,if the changes in these two layers are different,the changes in the middle layer will dominate the changes in the wavelength. The results also show that the wavelength decreases with the increase in the value of l2 in every layer,among which the sensitivity to the l2 in the upper layer is the most striking. The calculation results reasonably can explain the influence of diurnal changes on the wavelength. The example was simulated using Advanced Regional Prediction System model,and the sensitivity experiments were performed to confirm the effects of the Scorer parameter profiles on the wavelengths.
