1Well-balanced numerical modelling of non-uniform sediment transport in alluvial rivers显示文摘The last two decades have witnessed the development and application of well-balanced numerical models for shallow flows in natural rivers.However,until now there have been no such models for flows with non-uniform sediment transport.This paper presents a 1D well-balanced model to simulate flows and non-capacity transport of non-uniform sediment in alluvial rivers.The active layer formulation is adopted to resolve the change of bed sediment composition.In the framework of the finite volume Slope Llmiter Centred(SLIC) scheme,a surface gradient method is incorporated to attain well-balanced solutions to the governing equations.The proposed model is tested against typical cases with irregular topography,including the refilling of dredged trenches,aggradation due to sediment overloading and flood flow due to landslide dam failure.The agreement between the computed results and measured data is encouraging.Compared to a non-well-balanced model,the well-balanced model features improved performance in reproducing stage,velocity and bed deformation.It should find general applications for non-uniform sediment transport modelling in alluvial rivers,especially in mountain areas where the bed topography is mostly irregular.Honglu Qian Zhixian Cao Gareth Pender Huaihan Liu Peng Hu 2015International Journal of Sediment Research2015,30,2:4
2Aging effect on the mobility and bioavailability of copper in soil显示文摘Aging effect on the mobility and bioavailability of copper(Cu) was investigated using a spiked soil with different incubation periods from 3 to 56 d.Wheat was planted and earthworms were cultured separately in the incubated soils.The mobility of Cu in soil was evaluated by a chemical fractionation scheme and the toxicity and bioavailability were assessed by measuring the biomass and Cu concentration in tissues.Results showed that aging had a significant effect on Cu fraction distribution,of which Cu tended to incorporate from the exchangeable into more stable fractions such as the reducible and oxidisable fractions.However,aging had little effect on Cu bioavailability to wheat and earthworm.Comparing the soil being incubated for 3 d and 56 d,Cu concentration in wheat roots decreased from 14.5 to 12.8 mg/kg,and no significant changes in Cu concentration were observed in both wheat shoots and earthworms.The Cu concentration was around 2.0 and 50 mg/kg for wheat shoots and earthworms,respectively,irrespective of soil incubation time.The CaCl2-extractable Cu had a linear relationship with Cu concentration in wheat roots(R2 = 0.65,P < 0.05),but no linear relationship can be found for wheat shoots and earthworms.Biological control may be more crucial for Cu accumulation in organism than the changes in soil Cu fraction caused by aging.LU Anxiang ZHANG Shuzhen QIN Xiangyang WU Wenyong LIU Honglu 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,2:3

4Anionic formulation of electrolyte additive towards stable electrocatalytic oxygen evolution in seawater splitting显示文摘Hydrogen generation through seawater electrolysis provides a promising,attractive pathway towards the utilization of sustainable energy.However,the catalytic activity and stability of oxygen evolution anode are severely limited by the chloride-induced corrosion and competitive oxidation reactions.In this work,we demonstrate an anion-assisted performance improvement strategy by quick and universal screening of electrolyte additive via correlating Cl-repellency with the anionic properties.Particularly,the addition of phosphate ions is found to enable highly stable alkaline seawater splitting at industry-level current density(0.5 A cm^(-2))over 500 h using transition metal hydroxides as anodic electrocatalysts.In situ experiments and theoretical simulations further reveal that the dynamic anti-corrosion behaviors of surface-adsorbed phosphate ions are attributed to three factors including repelling Cl-ions without significantly blocking OH-diffusion,preventing transition metal dissolution and acting as a local pH buffer to compensate the fast OH-consumption under high current electrolysis.Meng Yu Jinhan Li Fangming Liu Jiuding Liu Wence Xu Honglu Hu Xijie Chen Weichao Wang Fangyi Cheng 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,9:1
5Hybrid battery integrated by Zn-air and Zn-Co3O4 batteries at cell level显示文摘The construction of Zn based hybrid battery through the combination of Zn-air and Zn-Co3O4 batteries at cell level is a feasible strategy to integrate high voltage,specific capacity and energy density in one power supply equipment.For Zn based hybrid battery,an efficient cathode material with high specific capacitance and excellent ORR,OER activities is a vital component,which determines its performance in great extent.In this work,with Co based coordination polymer as precursor,oxygen vacancy-rich Co3 O4 based cathode material is synthesized.In this material Co3O4 particles with the size about 20 to 35 nm reside evenly in mesoporous carbon matrix doped by nitrogen atoms.In OER,the overpotential of this cathode material is merely 330 m V.Its ORR proceeds with a typical four electron process with half wave achieving 0.76 V.If charge/discharge at 1 A·g^-1,specific capacitance of this cathode material is 254.4 mAh·g^-1.As current density increases to 20 A·g^-1,the specific capacitance still arrives at 122.5 mAh·g^-1 with nearly 50%retained.Based on attractive performance of this cathode material,Zn based hybrid battery is assembled.When discharge at 1 m A·cm-2,it presences two voltage platforms at 1.71 and 1.14 V.In this situation,specific capacitance reaches 790 m Ah·g^-1 with energy density 928 Wh·kg^-1.Hybrid battery shows promising stability after 300-cycle continuous test.Ning Liu Honglu Hu Xinxin Xu Qiang Wang 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,10:1
6Enhanced bed load sediment transport by unsteady flows in a degrading channel显示文摘Laboratory flume experiments were done to investigate bed load sediment transport by both steady and unsteady flows in a degrading channel. The bed, respectively composed of uniform sand, uniform gravel,or sand-gravel mixtures, always undergoes bulk degradation. It is found that both uniform and nonuniform bed load transport is enhanced greatly by unsteady flows as compared to their volumeequivalent steady flows. This enhancement effect is evaluated by means of an enhancement factor, which is shown to be larger with a coarser bed and lower discharges. Also, the fractional transport rates of gravel and sand in non-uniform sand-gravel mixtures are compared with their uniform counterparts under both steady and unsteady flows. The sand is found to be able to greatly promote the transport of gravel, whilst the gravel considerably hinders the transport of sand. 12Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis and Fatigue Study of Steep Wave Risers Under Irregular Loads显示文摘As a reliable alternative option for traditional steel catenary risers(SCRs),steep wave risers(SWRs)have been widely applied to deepwater oil and gas production.However,the nonlinear dynamic analysis of SWRs is more complicated than that of traditional SCRs due to their special configuration and significant geometric nonlinearity.Moreover,SWRs are highly susceptible to fatigue failure under the combined excitation of irregular waves and top floater motions(TFMs).In this study,considering irregular waves and TFMs,a numerical SWR model with an internal flow is constructed based on the slender rod model and finite element method.The Newmark-βmethod is adopted to solve the dynamic behavior of SWR.Moreover,the Palmgren-Miner rule,a specified S-N curve,and rainflow counting method are applied to estimate the fatigue damage.An efficient numerical computation procedure,i.e.,DRSWR,is programmed with MATLAB in this study.Calculation results are compared with those of OrcaFlex to verify the accuracy of the DRSWR.The nonlinear dynamic response and fatigue damage of an SWR under the combined excitation of irregular waves and TFMs are obtained,and a comprehensive parametric analysis is then conducted.The analysis results show that the buoyancy section undergoes the highest level of stress and fatigue damage under the combined excitation of irregular waves and TFMs.An internal flow with high velocity and high density produces a high level of fatigue damage.The buoyancy factor and length of the buoyancy section should be set moderately to reconcile the reduction of the top tension with increased fatigue life.These results are expected to provide some reference significance for the engineering design of SWR.GU Honglu GUO Haiyan LI Xiaomin LI Fuheng LIU Zhen 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,3:0

15Deformation and Stress Analysis of the Deepwater Steel Lazy Wave Riser Subjected to Internal Solitary Waves显示文摘The dynamic response of the steel lazy wave riser(SLWR)subjected to the internal solitary wave is a key to assessing its application feasibility.The innovation of this paper is to study the dynamic response properties of the SLWR with large deformation characteristics under internal wave excitation.A numerical scheme of the SLWR is constructed using the slender-rod theory,and the internal solitary wave(ISW)with a two-layer seawater model is simulated by the extended Korteweg-deVries equation.The finite element method combined with the Newmark-βmethod is applied to discretize the equations and update the time integration.The ISW excitation combined with vessel motion on the dynamic deformation and stress of the SLWR is investigated,and extensive simulations of the ISW parameters,including the interface depth ratio and density difference,are carried out.Case calculation reveals that the displacement of the riser in the lower interface layer increases significantly under the ISW excitation,and the stresses at a part of both ends grow evidently.Moreover,the mean value of riser responses under a combination of vessel motion and ISW coincides with the ISW-induced ones.Furthermore,the dynamic responses along the whole riser,including the displacement amplitudes,bending moment amplitudes,and stress amplitudes,almost increase with the increase in interface depth ratios and density differences.LI Fuheng GUO Haiyan GU Honglu LIU Zhen LI Xiaomin 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,2:0
16Evaluation of dual crop coefficient approach on evapotranspiration calculation of cherry trees显示文摘A simple way to estimate tree evapotranspiration is needed for orchard irrigation schedules and water management practice,and the dual crop coefficient(DCC)approach provides such a method.Plot experiments on cherry trees were conducted in an orchard of Beijing,China,from 2011 to 2013,to test the suitability and reliability of the DCC method.The calculated results from the DCC method were compared with those directly measured by water balance(WB)and sap flow(SF)methods.Results showed that total evapotranspiration in the whole growth period of cherry trees obtained by WB,SF and DCC methods was 560.0-569.3 mm,544.7-569.8 mm and 564.1-574.6 mm,respectively.The Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE)and the ratio of root-mean-square error to the standard deviation of measured data(RSR)showed that the calculated total evapotranspiration by DCC method was consistent to that measured by the WB method at above“Satisfactory”level(0.500.70)for the monthly evapotranspiration and as“Satisfactory”for the total evapotranspiration,respectively when compared with the WB and SF methods.Crop coefficients for the whole growth period were similar for all three methods,but the crop coefficient suggested by the DCC method was larger at the beginning and the late growth stages but smaller at the vigorous growth stage of cherry trees than those measured by using the WB and SF methods.It can be concluded that the DCC method is an effective tool to estimate total evapotranspiration in the whole growth period of cherry tree,but an improvement on accuracy of estimating monthly evapotranspiration of cherry trees is required.Tong Guodong Liu Honglu Li Fahu 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,3:0
