2Escherichia coli inactivation by pressurized CO_2 treatment methods at room temperature: Critical issues显示文摘This study aims to increase the inactivation efficiency of CO_2 against Escherichia coli under mild conditions to facilitate the application of pressurized CO_2 technology in water disinfection. Based on an aerating-cycling apparatus, three different treatment methods(continuous aeration, continuous reflux, and simultaneous aeration and reflux) were compared for the same temperature, pressure(0.3–0.7 MPa), initial concentration, and exposure time(25 min). The simultaneous aeration and reflux treatment(combined method) was shown to be the best method under optimum conditions, which were determined to be 0.7 MPa, room temperature, and an exposure time of 10 min. This treatment achieved 5.1-log reduction after 25 min of treatment at the pressure of 0.3 MPa and 5.73-log reduction after 10 min at 0.7 MPa. Log reductions of 4.4 and 5.0 occurred at the end of continuous aeration and continuous reflux treatments at 0.7 MPa, respectively.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images suggested that cells were ruptured after the simultaneous aeration and reflux treatment and the continuous reflux treatment. The increase of the solubilization rate of CO_2 due to intense hydraulic conditions led to a rapid inactivation effect. 3A novel integrated non-targeted metabolomic analysis reveals significant metabolite variations between different lettuce (Lactuca sativa. L) varieties显示文摘Lettuce is an important leafy vegetable that represents a significant dietary source of antioxidants and bioactive compounds.However,the levels of metabolites in different lettuce cultivars are poorly characterized.In this study,we used combined GC×GC-TOF/MS and UPLC-IMS-QTOF/MS to detect and relatively quantify metabolites in 30 lettuce cultivars representing large genetic diversity.Comparison with online databases,the published literature,standards as well using collision cross-section values enabled putative identification of 171 metabolites.Sixteen of these 171 metabolites(including phenolic acid derivatives,glycosylated flavonoids,and one iridoid)were present at significantly different levels in leaf and head type lettuces,which suggested the significant metabolomic variations between the leaf and head types of lettuce are related to secondary metabolism.A combination of the results and metabolic network analysis techniques suggested that leaf and head type lettuces contain not only different levels of metabolites but also have significant variations in the corresponding associated metabolic networks.The novel lettuce metabolite library and novel non-targeted metabolomics strategy devised in this study could be used to further characterize metabolic variations between lettuce cultivars or other plants.Moreover,the findings of this study provide important insight into metabolic adaptations due to natural and human selection,which could stimulate further research to potentially improve lettuce quality,yield,and nutritional value.Xiao Yang Shiwei Wei Bin Liu Doudou Guo Bangxiao Zheng Lei Feng Yumin Liu Francisco A.Tomás-Barberán Lijun Luo Danfeng Huang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:3
4Path analysis of sap flow of tomato under rain shelters in response to drought stress显示文摘The physiological characters and growth of tomato(Solanum lycopersicum L.)were recorded to be largely affected by different levels of irrigation.The objectives of this research were to determine the effects of deficit irrigation and rain shelters on sap flow,relative water content and the relationship between sap flow and environmental parameters.Experiments under rain shelters conditions were conducted in southern China during the growing seasons in 2012.The threshold of irrigation was designed at 80%field capacity during the whole period(T1,the control),and 30%,40%and 50%decreased water of T1 were applied as the treatments of T2,T3 and T4.The plants subjected to water stress exhibited a decrease in the values of sap flow rate and relative water content.Calculation of 95%confidence level revealed a significant difference of sap flow rate in T4 and T3 as well as the control on sunny and rainy days.The diurnal variation of the sap flow showed a single peak curve on sunny day,while it demonstrated irregular multi-peak variation on rainy days.The study also showed that the most sensitive environmental indicator affecting sap flow was solar radiation,followed by air temperature and vapour pressure deficit.Direct path coefficient was basically consistent with the coefficient of correlation,but there was slight difference between the total contribution R2 and that of variable factors.Shao Guangcheng Huang Doudou Cheng Xi Cui Jingtao Zhang Zhenhua 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,2:2

7Environmental surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater systems and related environments in Wuhan:April to May of 2020显示文摘Wastewater-based epidemiology(WBE)has emerged as an effective environmental surveillance tool in monitoring fecal-oral pathogen infections within a community.Congruently,SARS-Co V-2,the etiologic agent of COVID-19,has been demonstrated to infect the gastrointestinal tissues,and be shed in feces.In the present study,SARS-Co V-2 RNA was concentrated from wastewater,sludge,surface water,ground water,sediment,and soil samples of municipal and hospital wastewater systems and related environments in Wuhan during the COVID-19 middle and low risk periods,and the viral RNA copies quantified using reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR).From the findings of this study,during the middle risk period,one influent sample and three secondary effluents collected from waste water treatment plant 2,as well as two samples from Jinyintan Hospital wastewater system influent were SARS-Co V-2 RNA positive.One sludge sample collected from Guanggu Branch of Tongji Hospital,which was obtained during the low risk period,was also positive for SARS-Co V-2 RNA.These study findings demonstrate the significance of WBE in continuous surveillance of SARS-Co V-2 at the community level,even when the COVID-19 prevalence is low.Overall,this study can be used as an important reference for contingency management of wastewater treatment plants and COVID-19 prevention and control departments of Wuhan.Lu Zhao Evans Atoni Raphael Nyaruaba Yao Du Huaiyu Zhang Oscar Donde Doudou Huang Shuqi Xiao Nanjie Ren Teng Ma Zhu Shu Zhiming Yuan Lei Tong Han Xia 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:1

11Effects and related mechanisms of Huang's SiYu pills on Leydig cell function in kidney-yin deficiency rat models显示文摘The prescription“Huang's SiYu Pill”(HSYP)was founded by professor Huang Haibo,a famous traditional Chinese medicine in Inner Mongolia,based on long-term clinical experience.In this study we observed the effects of HYSP on sperm quality,hormone level and the expression level of reproductive related genes and proteins in testicular stromal cells of rats with kidney-yin deficiency to explore the therapeutic mechanism of HSYP in the treatment of infertility with kidney-yin deficiency,Liuwei Dihuang Pill group(LDP)and Tamoxifen Citrate Tablets combined with Pancreatic Kallidinogenase Enteric Coated Tablets were used to be the positive control drug.After 25 days of medicine administration,the animals were anesthetized and killed,the serum and testicular tissues were retained for further experiments.The ELISA results showed that HSYP had a better effect on increasing serum FSH level than the conventional Chinese medicine or western medicine,while there was no remarkable difference in the regulation of serum LH in each administration group.The results of RT-qPCR showed that the transcription levels of Cyp11a1,Hsd3b1,Lhcgr and Star genes in the medium and high dose groups of HSYP were significantly upregulated compared with the model group of kidney-yin deficiency,while the expression of Nr5a1 gene was not significantly affected.The results of HE and immunohistochemistry showed that HSYP significantly improved the development level of testicular stromal cells and promoted the expression levels of CYP11A1 and HSD11B1 in testicular stromal cells,compared with the model group of kidney-yin deficiency.Together,our results showed that Huang's SiYu Pills can significantly improve the development and function of Leydig cells in SD rats with kidney-yin deficiency model,which provided a good research basis for deep research on relevant pharmacological mechanisms of the medicine.Aomen Wei Doudou Huang Shanyao Wei Zhihui Li Meijuan Chen Zhenzhou Huang 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,3:0

13Influence of dissolved organic matter on methylmercury transformation during aerobic composting of municipal sewage sludge under different C/N ratios显示文摘Current knowledge about the transformation of total mercury and methylmercury(Me Hg) in aerobic composting process is limited. In this study, the composition and transformation of mercury and dissovled organic matter(DOM) in aerobic composting process of municipal sewage sludge were were comprehensively characterized, and the differences among the three C/N ratio(20, 26 and 30) were investigated. The main form of mercury in C/N 20 and 26 was organo-chelated Hg(F3, 46%-60%);while the main form of mercury in C/N 30 was mercuric sulfide(F5, 64%-70%). The main component of DOM in C/N 20 and 26 were tyrosine-like substance(C1, 53%-76%) while the main fractions in C/N 30 were tyrosine-like substance(C1, 28%-37%) and fulvic-like substance(C2, 17%-39%). The mercury and DOM varied significantly during the 9 days composting process. Compared to C/N 20 and 26, C/N 30 produced the less Me Hg after aerobic composting process, with values of 658%(C/N 20), 1400%(C/N 26) and 139%(C/N 30) of the initial, respectively. Meanwhile, C/N 30 produced the best compost showed greater degree of DOM molecular condensation and humification. Hg fraction had been altered by DOM, as indicated by a significant correlation between mercury species and DOM components. 14Experimental study on the anti-inflammatory effect of Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction on mice with psoriasis显示文摘Psoriasis is a chronic papulosquamous skin disease occurring worldwide caused by varieties of factors.The recipe of Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction was recorded in“The Pleasure of the Viewer”compiled by Jigwood Danjinzhamusu.Mongolian medicine clinical experience proved that Sendeng Decoction had good antipyretic,analgesic,anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatism effect.However,the mechanism of this drug in psoriasis is still unclear.In this study,imiquimod cream(IMQ)was used to construct psoriasis model in 8-week-old male BALB/c mice,and Sendeng Decoction was used to treat the mice with psoriasis.The results showed that PASI score and spleen index decreased after Sendeng Decoction treatment.Meanwhile,HE staining showed that the pathological structure was improved,flow cytometry results showed that the proportion of Treg cells increased and Th17 cells decreased,and results of Western blot showed that the level of p38 MAPK,p-p38 MAPK,p-STAT3 and p-JAK1 decreased observably.More importantly,the above results were most significant in Sendeng's M group,which was similar to MTX group.Our results indicated that Mongolian medicine Sendeng Decoction can effectively relieve the symptoms of psoriasis mice induced by IMQ,mainly by regulating the ratio of Th17/Treg cells through the JAK/STAT and p38 MAPK pathways to reduce the inflammatory state in mice,thereby improving the symptoms of dermatitis.Li Sun Guanyu Yu Huiming Jiang Kun Shi Doudou Huang Hashen Bao Yanping Huang Limuge Che Meijuan Chen 2022Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2022,,4:0
