1Fine structure of Pn velocity beneath Sichuan-Yunnan region显示文摘We use 23298 Pn arrival-time data from Chinese national and provincial earthquake bulletins to invert fine structure of Pn velocity and anisotropy at the top of the mantle beneath the Sichuan-Yunnan and its adjacent region. The results suggest that the Pn velocity in this region shows significant lateral variation; the Pn velocity varies from 7.7 to 8.3 km/s. The Pn-velocity variation correlates well with the tectonic activity and heat flow of the region. Low Pn velocity is observed in southwest Yunnan , Tengchong volcano area, and the Panxi tectonic area. These areas have very active seismicity and tectonic activity with high surface heat flow. On the other hand, high Pn velocity is observed in some stable regions, such as the central region of the Yangtze Platform; the most pronounced high velocity area is located in the Sichuan Basin, south of Chengdu. Pn anisotropy shows a complex pattern of regional deformation. The Pn fast direction shows a prominent clockwise rotation pattern from east of the Tibetan block to the Sichuan-Yunnan diamond block to southwest Yunnan, which may be related to southeastward escape of the Tibetan Plateau material due to the collision of the Indian Plate to the Eurasia Plate. Thus there appears to be strong correlation between the crustal deformation and the upper mantle structure in the region. 2Comparison of four techniques for estimating temporal change of seismic velocity with passive image interferometry显示文摘Passive image interferometry (PII) is becoming a powerful tool for detecting the temporal variations in the Earth's structure,which applies coda wave interferometry to the waveforms from the cross-correlation of seismic ambient noise.There are four techniques for estimating temporal change of seismic velocity with PII:moving-window cross-correlation technique (MWCCT),moving-window cross-spectrum technique (MWCST),stretching technique (ST) and moving-window stretching technique (MWST).In this paper,we use the continuous seismic records from a typical station pair near the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake fault zone and generate three sets of waveforms by stacking cross-correlation function of ambient noise with different numbers of days,and then apply four techniques to processing the three sets of waveforms and compare their results.Our results indicate that the techniques based on moving-window (MWCCT,MWCST and MWST) are superior in detecting the change of seismic velocity,and the MWCST can give a better estimate of velocity change than the other moving-window techniques due to measurement error.We also investigate the clock errors and their influences on measuring velocity change.We find that when the clock errors are not very large,they have limited impact on the estimate of the velocity change with the moving-window techniques.Zhikun Liu Jinli Huang Jiaojiao Li 2010Earthquake Science2010,23,5:6
3The stable isotope geochemical characteristics of dissolved inorganic carbon in northern South China Sea显示文摘The isotopic composition of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) in marine and estuarine environments has been studied in some detail because of its role in determining the isotopic composition of inorganic/organic matter and its applications to the study of various natural processes. The δ13CDIC values of sea water are controlled by the sources and sinks of carbon and the results from isotope fractionation among solid, dissolved and gaseous phases. In this paper, based on the description of the stable isotope geochemical characteristics of dissolved inorganic carbon in northern South China Sea, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) the δ13CDIC values of natural waters are controlled by the sources and sinks of carbon and the results from isotope fractionation among solid, dissolved and gaseous phases. And the low seawater δ13CDIC values of northern South China Sea are accompanied by a low level of sea primary productivity in this region; 2) according to the parameter relationship (δ13CDIC-1.1 PO4) between δ13CDIC and PO4, it is indicated that northern South China Sea is the source of atmospheric CO2; and 3) nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are the elements which are the basis for phytoplankton growth. 4Temperature and silicate are significant driving factors for the seasonal shift of dominant diatoms in a drinking water reservoir显示文摘The individual or combined eff ect of water temperature and silicate on seasonal shift of dominant diatom species in a drinking water reservoir in China was studied in this paper. These eff ects were analyzed based on the field investigation of temporal dynamics in species composition and abundance of phytoplankton and environmental factors from September 2015 to August 2016. We firstly found that six dominant diatom species ( Fragilaria nanana , Achnanthidium catenatum , Aulacoseira ambigua , Ulnaria ulna , Cyclotella meneghiniana and Asterionella formosa (Class Bacillariophyceae)), which accounted for 98.7% of the total abundance of diatoms and 46.8% of the total abundance of phytoplankton, showed an obvious seasonal succession. Then significant driving factors for seasonal shift of the dominant diatom species were selected by Redundancy Analysis. The result showed that water temperature and silicate were the main environmental factors aff ecting the growth of diatoms on temporal scales. Next, the regressions of water temperature and silicate and dominant diatom abundance were fitted in Generalized Additive Model separately, and the smoothers of water temperature and diatom species suggested that the dominant diatom species adapted to diff erent optimum temperature ranges, which corresponded with the growth of seasonal changes. A positive linear correlation between silicate and diatom abundance was generated by Generalized Additive Model. Finally, the ordinal controls of water temperature and silicate on the growth of diatoms were analyzed on temporal scales specifically. We suggested that water temperature and silicate controlling the growth of diatoms in order. 6Magnetic resonance morphometry of the loss of gray matter volume in Parkinson's disease patients显示文摘Voxel-based morphometry can be used to quantitatively compare structural differences and functional changes of gray matter in subjects.In the present study,we compared gray matter images of 32 patients with Parkinson's disease and 25 healthy controls using voxel-based morphometry based on 3.0 T high-field magnetic resonance T1-weighted imaging and clinical neurological scale scores.Results showed that the scores in Mini-Mental State Examination and Montreal Cognitive Assessment were lower in patients compared with controls.In particular,the scores of visuospatial/executive function items in Montreal Cognitive Assessment were significantly reduced,but mean scores of non-motor symptoms significantly increased,in patients with Parkinson's disease.In addition,gray matter volume was significantly diminished in Parkinson's disease patients compared with normal controls,including bilateral temporal lobe,bilateral occipital lobe,bilateral parietal lobe,bilateral frontal lobe,bilateral insular lobe,bilateral parahippocampal gyrus,bilateral amygdale,right uncus,and right posterior lobe of the cerebellum.These findings indicate that voxel-based morphometry can accurately and quantitatively assess the loss of gray matter volume in patients with Parkinson's disease,and provide essential neuroimaging evidence for multisystem pathological mechanisms involved in Parkinson's disease.Jianguo Xia Juan Wang Weizhong Tian Hongbin Ding Qilin Wei Huanxin Huang Jun Wang Jinli Zhao Hongmei Gu Lemin Tang 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,27:1

9Optimal design of heat exchanger header for coal gasification in supercritical water through CFD simulations显示文摘Heat exchangers play an important role in supercritical water coal gasification systems for heating feed and cooling products.However,serious deposition and plugging problems always exist in heat exchangers.CFD modeling was used to simulate the transport characteristics of solid particles in supercritical water through the shell and tube of heat exchangers to alleviate the problems.In this paper,we discuss seven types of exchangers(A,B,C,D,E,F and G),which vary in inlet nozzle configuration,header height,inlet pipe diameter and tube pass distribution.In the modeling,the possibility of deposition in the header was evaluated by accumulated mass of particles;we used the velocity contour of supercritical water(SCW)to evaluate the uniformity of the velocity distribution among the tube passes.Simulation results indicated that the optimum heat exchanger had structure F,which had a rectangular configuration of tube pass distractions,a bottom inlet,a 200-mm header height and a 10-mm inlet pipe diameter.Lei Huang Lin Qi Hongna Wang Jinli Zhang Xiaoqiang Jia 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,8:1

14New ternary compound La_8Al_(13)Sn_3显示文摘A new ternary compound La8Al13Sn3 was synthesized and studied by means of X-ray powder diffraction technique. The compound La8Al13Sn3 crystallizes in a hexagonal AlB2-type structure with space group P6/mmm (No. 191) and the lattice parameters a = 0.44919(1) nm and c = 0.43835(1) nm. The Smith and Snyder figure of merit for index, FN, is F30 = 197.3(30). The Rietveld refinement for the crystal structure of the compound was carried out successfully. The liability R-factors of Rietveld refinement are Rp = 0.114 and Rwp = 0.148.
