Modeling study of regional severe hazes over mid-eastern China in January 2013 and its implications on pollution prevention and control显示文摘The Nested Air Quality Prediction Model System(NAQPMS)was used to investigate the temporal and spatial variations of PM2.5over tropospheric central eastern China in January 2013.The impact of regional transport and its implications on pollution prevention and control were also examined.Comparison between simulated and observed PM2.5showed NAQPMS was able to reproduce the evolution of PM2.5during heavy haze episodes. The results indicated that regional transport of PM2.5played an important role in regional haze episodes in the city cluster including Hebei,Beijing and Tianjin(HBT).The cross-city clusters transport outside HBT and transport among cities inside HBT contributed 20%–35%and 26%–35%of PM2.5as compared with local emission,in HBT respectively. To meet the Air Quality Standards for Grade II,90%,90%and65%of emissions would have to be cut down in Hebei,Tianjin and Beijing,if non-control strategy was taken in the surrounding city clusters of HBT.This implicated that control of emissions in one city cluster is not sufficient to reduce regional haze events, and joint efforts among city clusters are essential.Besides regional transports,two-way feedback between boundary-layer evolution and PM2.5also significantly contributed to the formation of heavy hazes, which contributed 30%of monthly average PM2.5concentration in HBT. | WANG ZiFa LI Jie WANG Zhe YANG WenYi TANG Xiao GE BaoZhu YAN PinZhong ZHU LiLi CHEN XueShun CHEN HuanSheng WAND Wei LI JianJun LIU Bing WANG XiaoYan WAND Wei ZHAO YiLin LU Ning SU DeBin | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,1: | 106
Cyber-physical-social-thinking space based science and technology framework for the Internet of Things显示文摘The Internet of Things(Io T)as an emerging network paradigm is bringing the next scientific and technological revolution for ubiquitous things’interactions in cyber-physical-social spaces. The Io T influences the current science and technology system by enabling its relatively stable interrelations for an inevitable architecture reconfiguration. In this paper,we aim to explore an updated science and technology framework for the Io T.Particularly,a novel cyber-physical-social-thinking(CPST)space is established by involving an attractive concept of the Internet of Thinking(Io Tk),and a science and technology framework is accordingly proposed referring to both scientific aspect(i.e.,cyber-physical,social,and noetic sciences)and technological aspect(i.e.,fundamental,physical,cyber,and social technologies).According to the perspective of the traditional Chinese culture,we explain the established science and technology framework,in which the'Five Elements'(i.e.,wood,fire,earth,metal,and water)have common properties with the restructured cyber-physical science in the Io T.Moreover,we introduce a scenario of smart city to identify the technological aspect in the Io T,and discuss the key enabling technologies, including resource management, energy management, data management, session management, security and privacy, loop control,space-time consistency, nanotechnology, and quantum technology. It turns out that the established science and technology framework will launch an innovation for academia and industry communities. | NING HuanSheng LIU Hong | 2015 | Science China(Information Sciences)2015,58,3: | 15

Security and privacy issues of physical objects in the IoT:Challenges and opportunities显示文摘In the Internet of Things(IoT),security and privacy issues of physical objects are crucial to the related applications. In order to clarify the complicated security and privacy issues, the life cycle of a physical object is divided into three stages of pre-working,in-working,and post-working.On this basis,a physical object-based security architecture for the IoT is put forward.According to the security architecture, security and privacy requirements and related protecting technologies for physical objects in different working stages are analyzed in detail.Considering the development of IoT technologies, potential security and privacy challenges that IoT objects may face in the pervasive computing environment are summarized. At the same time, possible directions for dealing with these challenges are also pointed out. | Xuanxia Yao Fadi Farha Rongyang Li Ismini Psychoul Liming Chen Huansheng Ning | 2021 | Digital Communications and Networks2021,7,3: | 3
Recent advancements in surface plasmon polaritons-plasmonics subwavelength structures in microwave and terahertz regimes显示文摘This paper presents a review of recent investigational studies on exciting Surface Plasmon Polaritous (SPPs)in MicroWave (MW)and TeraHertZ (THz)regimes by using subwavelength corrugated patterns on conductive or metal surfaces. This article also describes SPP Microstrip (MS)structures at microwave and terahertz frequencies, and compares their significance with that of conventional MS Transmission Lines (TL),in order to tackle the key challenges of high gain, bandwidth size, compactness,TL losses, and signal integrity in high-end electronic de- vices.Because they have subwavelength properties, surface plasmon polaritous are gaining attention for their improved performance and ability for miniaturization in high-speed dense circuits. They possess comparably minuscule wavelength compared to incident light (photons).Consequently, they can demonstrate stronger spatial confinement and higher local field intensity at optical frequencies. In addition to engineering spoof SPP waveguides, which are created by engraving grooves and slits on metal surfaces to allow operation on at low frequencies (microwave and terahertz),semiconductors with smaller permittivity values and thus lower free charge carrier concentration have been demonstrated as a potential candidate in plasmonic devices. If necessary, further tuning of semiconductor-based SPP structures is aided by controlling the charge carrier concentration through doping,or by external stimuli such as optical illumination or thermal excitation of charge carriers from valence to conduction bands. This article conclusively covers previously elucidated perspectives on manipulating SSPPs in the MW and THz ranges, and emphasizes how these could steer next-generation plasmonic devices. | Rana Sadaf Anwar Huansheng Ning Lingfeng Mao | 2018 | Digital Communications and Networks2018,4,4: | 3

Convergence of computing, communication, and caching in internet of things显示文摘Internet of Things(IoTs)is a big world of connected objects, including the small and low-resources devices, like sensors,as well as the full-functional computing devices, such as servers and routers in the core network. With the emerging of new IoT-based applications, such as smart transportation, smart agriculture, healthcare, and others, there is a need for making great efforts to achieve a balance in using the IoT resources, including Computing,Communication, and Caching. This paper provides an overview of the convergence of Computing,Communication, and Caching(CCC)by covering the IoT technology trends. At first,we give a snapshot of technology trends in communication, computing, and caching. As well,we describe the convergence in sensors, devices, and gateways.Addressing the aspect of convergence,we discuss the relationship between CCC technologies in collecting, indexing, processing, and storing data in IoT.Also,we introduce the three dimensions of the IoTs based on CCC.We explore different existing technologies that help to solve bottlenecks caused by a large number of physical devices in IoT.Finally,we propose future research directions and open problems in the convergence of communication, computing, and cashing with sensing and actuating devices. | Mohammed Amine Bouras Fadi Farha Huansheng Ning | 2020 | Intelligent and Converged Networks2020,1,1: | 2
Dataflow Management in the Internet of Things: Sensing,Control, and Security显示文摘The pervasiveness of the smart Internet of Things(IoTs) enables many electric sensors and devices to be connected and generates a large amount of dataflow. Compared with traditional big data, the streaming dataflow is faced with representative challenges, such as high speed, strong variability, rough continuity, and demanding timeliness, which pose severe tests of its efficient management. In this paper, we provide an overall review of IoT dataflow management. We first analyze the key challenges faced with IoT dataflow and initially overview the related techniques in dataflow management, spanning dataflow sensing, mining, control, security, privacy protection, etc. Then, we illustrate and compare representative tools or platforms for IoT dataflow management. In addition, promising application scenarios, such as smart cities, smart transportation, and smart manufacturing, are elaborated, which will provide significant guidance for further research. The management of IoT dataflow is also an important area, which merits in-depth discussions and further study. | Dawei Wei Huansheng Ning Feifei Shi Yueliang Wan Jiabo Xu Shunkun Yang Li Zhu | 2021 | Tsinghua Science and Technology2021,26,6: | 2
Electromagnetic spectrum chipless radio frequency identification:A review显示文摘Over the past few years,Radio Frequency IDentification(RFID)has stridden significantly due to its adoption in many business and daily life activities.RFID empowers end-to-end and item-by-item visibility, letting the customers or decision-makers effectively trail the personnel and resources for improved management.Significant research and development in this area have transformed the inexpensive, miniaturized technology of RFIDs without chip inside.Chipless Radio Frequency IDentification(CRFID)is a unique wireless technology based on radar principle to sense, identify, and track the objects.CRFIDs are simplified and miniaturized tags of traditional RFID,which can widely be used in small and cheap objects/applications in our daily life. This paper reviews the definition, principle, and most recent development in CRFIDs.Based on the reported researches, the ElectroMagnetic Spectrum(EMS)method is typical, which has been concerned by many RFID researchers. Therefore, this paper reviews different types of EMS CRFID tag and classifies these tags based on structure design emphasizing their significant geometries in comparison with performance parameters.Antenna and coding methods of the EMS CRFID are also elaborated, contrasting the tag capacity and coding performance. Finally,we briefly summarize the challenges and limitations in this emerging field and look forward to the prospects of future CRFID. | Qingjuan Li Rana Sadaf Anwar Huansheng Ning Jun Wang Lingfeng Mao | 2020 | Digital Communications and Networks2020,6,3: | 2

CDCAT: A Multi-Language Cross-Document Entity and Event Coreference Annotation Tool显示文摘A tool for the manual annotation of cross-document entity and event coreferences that helps annotators to label mention coreference relations in text is essential for the annotation of coreference corpora. To the best of our knowledge, CROss-document Main Events and entities Recognition(CROMER) is the only open-source manual annotation tool available for cross-document entity and event coreferences. However, CROMER lacks multi-language support and extensibility. Moreover, to label cross-document mention coreference relations, CROMER requires the support of another intra-document coreference annotation tool known as Content Annotation Tool, which is now unavailable. To address these problems, we introduce Cross-Document Coreference Annotation Tool(CDCAT), a new multi-language open-source manual annotation tool for cross-document entity and event coreference, which can handle different input/output formats, preprocessing functions, languages, and annotation systems. Using this new tool, annotators can label a reference relation with only two mouse clicks. Best practice analyses reveal that annotators can reach an annotation speed of 0.025 coreference relations per second on a corpus with a coreference density of 0.076 coreference relations per word. As the first multi-language open-source cross-document entity and event coreference annotation tool, CDCAT can theoretically achieve higher annotation efficiency than CROMER. | Yang Xu Boming Xia Yueliang Wan Fan Zhang Jiabo Xu Huansheng Ning | 2022 | Tsinghua Science and Technology2022,27,3: | 0
