1Comparing the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil after different bioremediation approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities显示文摘A 120-day experiment was conducted to compare the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) from agricultural soil after natural attenuation(NA), phytoremediation(P), mycoremediation(M), and plant-assisted mycoremediation(PAM) approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities in soil. The NA treatment removed the total soil PAH content negligibly. The P treatment using maize(Zea mays) enhanced only the removal of low and medium molecular PAHs. The Pleurotus ostreatus cultivated on 30–50 mm wood chip substrate used in M treatment was the most successful in the removal of majority PAHs. Therefore,significantly(p < 0.05) highest total PAH removal by 541.4 μg/kg dw(dry weight)(36%) from all tested M treatments was observed. When using the same fungal substrate together with maize in PAM treatment, the total PAH removal was not statistically different from the previous M treatment. However, the maize-assisted mycoremediation treatment significantly boosted fungal biomass, microbial and manganese peroxidase activity in soil which strongly correlated with the removal of total PAHs. The higher PAH removal in that PAM treatment could be reflected in the following post-harvest time. 2Intravitreal stem cell paracrine properties as a potential neuroprotective therapy for retinal photoreceptor neurodegenerative diseases显示文摘Retinal degenerations are the leading causes of irreversible visual loss worldwide. Many pathologies included under this umbrella involve progressive degeneration and ultimate loss of the photoreceptor cells, with age-related macular degeneration and inherited and ischemic retinal diseases the most relevant. These diseases greatly impact patients' daily lives, with accompanying marked social and economic consequences. However, the currently available treatments only delay the onset or slow progression of visual impairment, and there are no cures for these photoreceptor diseases. Therefore, new therapeutic strategies are being investigated, such as gene therapy, optogenetics, cell replacement, or cell-based neuroprotection. Specifically, stem cells can secrete neurotrophic, immunomodulatory, and anti-angiogenic factors that potentially protect and preserve retinal cells from neurodegeneration. Further, neuroprotection can be used in different types of retinal degenerative diseases and at different disease stages, unlike other potential therapies. This review summarizes stem cell-based paracrine neuroprotective strategies for photoreceptor degeneration, which are under study in clinical trials, and the latest preclinical studies. Several diagnostic algorithms for discrimination of VT and SVT based on surface electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis have been proposed. 13Automated tree detection and crown delineation using airborne laser scanner data in heterogeneous East-Central Europe forest with different species mix显示文摘Identifying tree locations is a basic step in the derivation of other tree parameters using remote sensing techniques,particularly when using airborne laser scanning.There are several techniques for identifying tree positions.In this paper,we present a raster-based method for determining tree position and delineating crown coverage.We collected data from nine research plots that supported different mixes of species.We applied a rasterbased method to raster layers with six different spatial resolutions and used terrestrial measurement data as reference data.Tree identification at a spatial resolution of 1.5 m was demonstrated to be the most accurate,with an average identification ratio(IR) of 95% and average detection ratio of 68% being observed.At a higher spatial resolution of 0.5 m,IR was overestimated by more than 600%.At a lower spatial resolution of 3 m,IR was underestimated at less than 44% of terrestrial measurements.The inventory process was timed to enable evaluation of the time efficiency of automatic methods.Róbert Smreek Ivan Sakov Zuzana Michnová Ján Tuek 2017Journal of Forestry Research2017,28,5:1
