Quantifying Responses of Winter Wheat Physiological Processes to Soil Water Stress for Use in Growth Simulation Modeling显示文摘A deep understanding of crop-water eco-physiological relations is the basis for quantifying plant physiological responses to soil water stress. Pot experiments were conducted to investigate the winter wheat crop-water relations under both drought and waterlogging conditions in two sequential growing seasons from 2000 to 2002, and then the data were used to develop and validate models simulating the responses of winter wheat growth to drought and waterlogging stress. The experiment consisted of four treatments, waterlogging (keep 1 to 2 cm water layer depth above soil surface), control (70%-80% field capacity), light drought (40%-50% field capacity) and severe drought (30%-40% field capacity) with six replicates at five stages in the 2000-2001 growth season. Three soil water content treatments (waterlogging, control and drought) with two replicates were designed in the 2001-2002 growth season. Waterlogging and control treatments are the same as in the 2000-2001 growth season. For the drought treatment, no water was supplied and the soil moisture decreased from field capacity to wilting point. Leaf net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, predawn leaf water potential, soil water potential, soil water content and dry matter weight of individual organs were measured. Based on crop-water eco-physiological relations, drought and waterlogging stress factors for winter wheat growth simulation model were put forward. Drought stress factors integrated soil water availability, the sensitivity of different development stages and the difference between physiological processes (such as photosynthesis, transpiration and partitioning). The quantification of waterlogging stress factor considered different crop species, soil water status, waterlogging days and sensitivity at different growth stages. Data sets from the pot experiments revealed favorable performance reliability for the simulation sub-models with the drought and waterlogging stress factors. | HUJi-Chao CAOWei-Xing ZHANGJia-Bao JIANGDong FENGJie | 2004 | Pedosphere2004,14,4: | 42
Early screening and diagnosis strategies of pancreatic cancer:a comprehensive review显示文摘Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant digestive system tumor with a poor prognosis. Most pancreatic cancer patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage or even metastasis due to its highly aggressive characteristics and lack of typical early symptoms. Thus,an early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is crucial for improving its prognosis.Currently, screening is often applied in high-risk individuals to achieve the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.Fully understanding the risk factors of pancreatic cancer and pathogenesis could help us identify the high-risk population and achieve early diagnosis and timely treatment of pancreatic cancer.Notably, accumulating studies have been undertaken to improve the detection rate of different imaging methods and the diagnostic accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration(EUS-FNA)which is the golden standard for pancreatic cancer diagnosis. In addition, there are currently no biomarkers with sufficient sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis ofpancreatic cancer to be applied in the clinic. As the only serum biomarkerapproved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, carbohydrateantigen 19-9 (CA19-9) is not recommended to be used in the early screeningof pancreatic cancer because of its limited specificity. Recently, increasingnumbers of studies focused on the discovering of novel serum biomarkersand exploring their combination with CA19-9 in the detection of pancreaticcancer. Besides, the application of liquid biopsy involving circulating tumor cells(CTCs), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), microRNAs (miRNAs), and exosomesin blood and biomarkers in urine, and saliva in pancreatic cancer diagnosis aredrawing more and more attention. Furthermore, many innovative technologiessuch as artificial intelligence, computer-aided diagnosis system, metabolomicstechnology, ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) associated technologies, and novelnanomaterials have been tested for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer andhave shown promising prospects. Hence, this review aims to summarize therecent progress in the development of early screening and diagnostic methods, including imaging, pathological examination, serological examination, liquidbiopsy, as well as other potential diagnostic strategies for pancreatic cancer. | Jinshou Yang Ruiyuan Xu Chengcheng Wang Jiangdong Qiu Bo Ren Lei You | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,12: | 23
STUDY ON THE INTERACTION BETWEEN NDVI PROFILE AND THE GROWING STATUS OF CROPS显示文摘Daily and ten-day Normalized Difference Vegetation Index( NDVI) of crops were retrieved from meteorological satellite NOAA AVHRR images. The temporal variations of the NDVI were analyzed during the whole growing season, and thus the principle of the interaction between NDVI profile and the growing status of crops was discussed. As a case in point, the relationship between integral NDVI and winter wheat yield of Henan Province in 1999 had been analyzed. By putting integral NDVI values of 60 sample counties into the winter wheat yield-integral NDVI coordination, scattering map was plotted. It demonstrated that integral NDVI had a close relation with winter wheat yield. These relation could be described with linear, cubic polynomial, and exponential regression, and the cubic polynomial regression was the best way. In general, NDVI reflects growing status of green vegetation, so crop monitoring and crop yield estimation could be realized by using remote sensing technique on the basis of time serial NDVI data together with agriculture calendars. | JIANGDong WANGNai-bin YANGXIao-huan WANGJi-hua | 2003 | Chinese Geographical Science2003,13,1: | 16
Efficient emission of InGaN-based light-emitting diodes:toward orange and red显示文摘Indium gallium nitride(InGaN)-based light-emitting diodes(LEDs)are considered a promising candidate for red-green-blue(RGB)micro displays.Currently, the blue and green LEDs are efficient, while the red ones are inefficient for such applications. This paper reports our work of creating efficient InGaN-based orange and red LEDs on silicon(111)substrates at low current density.Based on the structure of InGaN yellow LEDs,by simply reducing the growth temperature of all the yellow quantum wells(QWs),we obtained 599 nm orange LEDs with peak wall-plug efficiency(WPE)of 18.1%at 2 A/cm^2.An optimized QW structure was proposed that changed two of the nine yellow QWs to orange ones.Compared with the sample containing nine orange QWs,the sample with two orange QWs and seven yellow QWs showed similar emission spectra but a much higher peak WPE up to 24.0%at 0.8 A/cm^2 with a wavelength of 608 nm.The improvement of peak WPE can be attributed to the improved QW quality and the reduced active recombination volume.Subsequently,a series of efficient InGaN-based orange and red LEDs was demonstrated. With further development, the InGaN-based red LEDs are believed to be attainable and can be used in micro LED displays. | Shengnan Zhang Jianli Zhang Jiangdong Gao Xiaolan Wang Changda Zheng Meng Zhang Xiaoming Wu Longquan Xu Jie Ding Zhijue Quan Fengyi Jiang | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,11: | 10
MiR-135a biogenesis and regulation in malignancy:a new hope for cancer research and therapy显示文摘MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are evolutionarily conserved small non-coding RNAs that affect posttranscriptional regulation by binding to the 3′-untranslated region of target messenger RNAs.MiR-135a is a critical miRNA that regulates gene expression, and many studies have focused on its function in cancer research.MiR-135a is dysregulated in various cancers and regulates cancer cell proliferation and invasionvia several signaling pathways, such as the MAPK and JAK2/STAT3 pathways.MiR-135a has also been found to promote or inhibit the epithelial-mesenchymal transition and chemoresistance in different cancers.Several studies have discovered the value of miR-135a as a novel biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. These studies have suggested the potential of therapeutically manipulating miR-135a to improve the outcome of cancer patients.Although these findings have demonstrated the role of miR-135a in cancer progression and clinical applications,a number of questions remain to be answered, such as the dual functional roles of miR-135a in cancer. In this review,we summarize the available studies regarding miR-135a and cancer, including background on the biogenesis and expression of miR-135a in cancer and relevant signaling pathways involved in miR-135a-mediated tumor progression. We also focus on the clinical application of miR-135a as a biomarker in diagnosis and as a therapeutic agent or target in cancer treatment, which will provide a greater level of insight into the translational value of miR-135a. | Zhe Cao Jiangdong Qiu Gang Yang Yueze Liu Wenhao Luo Lei You Lianfang Zheng Taiping Zhang | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,3: | 4
One-step Condensation/copolymerization of VTES and DVB for Self-assembly Bionic Superhydrophobic Surface Coating and Study on Oil-water Separation显示文摘Mimicry of nature drives the development of bionic materials.Bionic superhydrophobic materials are a kind of high-efficiency materials to handle oil spills and water pollution. However, the stability of surface coatings of the superhydrophobic materials remains a challenge.Herein,a new category of self-assembly bionic superhydrophobic surface coating was prepared via one-step condensation/copolymerization of vinyltriethoxysilane(VTES)and divinylbenzene(DVB),which realized the close combination of covalent bonds between organic(e.g.DVB)and inorganic matter(e.g.VTES),and avoided the swelling of polydivinylbenzene(PDVB)in the process of collection of oil from water. This organic-inorganic hybrid polymer could self-assembly deposit on the surface of sponge even other substrates. For example,P(VTES-DVB)-Si0_(2)/MS obtained by assembling P(VTES-DVB)-Si0_(2)on the surface of Melamine Sponge(MS)exhibited superhydrophobicity with a Water Contact Angle(WCA)of 157.3,the optimal adsorption capacity of 77 g g 136 g g-1 for diverse oils, and an excellent separation efficiency of 99.3%.Besides,the excellent acid and alkali resistance of P(VTES-DVB)-Si0_(2)/MS suggested the potential value in practical oil-water separation.P(VTES-DVB)-Si0_(2)showed the outstanding hydrophobic performance by using as coating on different substrates. This work provided a new idea about the stable combination of organic and inorganic matter in the surface modification. | Ruilong Zhang Zhiping Zhou Yi Wang Xiaohui Dai Li Chen Jiangdong Dai | 2021 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2021,18,3: | 3
Inducible expression of Wnt7b promotes bone formation in aged mice and enhances fracture healing显示文摘There remain unmet clinical needs for safe and effective bone anabolic therapies to treat aging-related osteoporosis and to improve fracture healing in cases of nonunion or delayed union. Wnt signaling has emerged as a promising target pathway for developing novel bone anabolic drugs. Although neutralizing antibodies against the Wnt antagonist sclerostin have been tested,Wnt ligands themselves have not been fully explored as a potential therapy. Previous work has demonstrated Wnt7b as an endogenous ligand upregulated during osteoblast differentiation, and that Wnt7b overexpression potently stimulates bone accrual in the mouse. The earlier studies however did not address whether Wnt7b could promote bone formation when specifically applied to aged or fractured bones. Here we have developed a doxycycline-inducible strategy where Wnt7b is temporally induced in the bones of aged mice or during fracture healing. We report that forced expression of Wnt7b for 1 month starting at 15 months of age greatly stimulated trabecular and endosteal bone formation, resulting in a marked increase in bone mass. We further tested the effect of Wnt7b on bone healing in a murine closed femur fracture model. Induced expression of Wnt7b at the onset of fracture did not affect the initial cartilage formation but promoted mineralization of the subsequent bone callus. Thus, targeted delivery of Wnt7b to aged bones or fracture sites may be explored as a potential therapy. | Deye Song Guangxu He Fangfang Song Zhepeng Wang Xiaochen Liu Lele Liao Jiangdong Ni Matthew JSilva Fanxin Long | 2020 | Bone Research2020,8,1: | 3
Differential involvement of Wnt signaling in Bmp regulation of cancellous versus periosteal bone growth显示文摘Bone morphogenetic proteins(Bmp) are well-known to induce bone formation following chondrogenesis, but the direct role of Bmp signaling in the osteoblast lineage is not completely understood. We have recently shown that deletion of the receptor Bmpr1 a in the osteoblast lineage with Dmp1-Cre reduces osteoblast activity in general but stimulates proliferation of preosteoblasts specifically in the cancellous bone region, resulting in diminished periosteal bone growth juxtaposed with excessive cancellous bone formation.Because expression of sclerostin(SOST), a secreted Wnt antagonist, is notably reduced in the Bmpr1 adeficient osteocytes, we have genetically tested the hypothesis that increased Wnt signaling might mediate the increase in cancellous bone formation in response to Bmpr1 a deletion. Forced expression of human SOST from a Dmp1 promoter fragment partially rescues preosteoblast hyperproliferation and cancellous bone overgrowth in the Bmpr1 a mutant mice, demonstrating functional interaction between Bmp and Wnt signaling in the cancellous bone compartment. To test whether increased Wnt signaling can compensate for the defect in periosteal growth caused by Bmpr1 a deletion, we have generated compound mutants harboring a hyperactive mutation(A214 V) in the Wnt receptor Lrp5. However, the mutant Lrp5 does not restore periosteal bone growth in the Bmpr1 a-deficient mice. Thus, Bmp signaling restricts cancellous bone accrual partly through induction of SOST that limits preosteoblast proliferation, but promotes periosteal bone growth apparently independently of Wnt activation. | Guangxu He Yu Shi Joohyun Lim Teresita Bellido Jiangdong Ni Fanxin Long | 2017 | Bone Research2017,5,3: | 3
Design and optimization of an integrated MEMS gas chamber with high transmissivity显示文摘Non-Dispersive InfraRed(NDIR)gas sensor is widely used for gas detection in collieries and the gas chemical industry, etc. The performance of the NDIR gas sensor depends on the volume, optical length and transmittance of the gas chamber. However, the existing gas sensor products have problems of large volume, high cost and incapable of integration, which need to develop towards the miniaturized sensor. This paper first presents the theoretical background of the NDIR gas sensor and the novel structure of a fully integrated infrared gas sensor and its micro-machined gas chamber structure. Then, the light structure and the gas flow of the gas chamber are optimized on Tracepro software and Ansys workbench, respectively, and the technological process for preparing the Micro-Electro-Mechanical System(MEMS)gas chamber is designed. Finally,we produce a gas chamber with a small volume and good transmissivity, which would be the most important part of producing the miniaturized NDIR gas sensor. | Yang Jing Cheng Yuhua Yuan Yupeng Li Xiaofei Zhang Zuwei Xu Ming Wang Dengpan Mu Jiangdong Mei Yong Zhang Yuzhe | 2021 | Digital Communications and Networks2021,7,1: | 2
