1Environmental changes reflected by n-alkanes of lake core in Nam Co on the Tibetan Plateau since 8.4 kaB.P.显示文摘The n-alkanes are extracted from NMLC-1 core that was drilled in the Nam Co, central Tibet. They are measured by using Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) for componential and quantitative analyses. According to the constructed depth-age model, the component and concentration of n-alkanes, together with total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN) and carbonate are used to elu- cidate palaeoenvironmental changes of Nam Co during the past 8.4 ka. The results indicate that Holo- cene environment performs three stages in the lake area. In the stage of 8.4―6.7 kaB.P., it was warmer while precipitation slightly increased. This stage was ended by an obvious cold/dry event. During 6.7― 5.8 kaB.P., temperature increased rapidly and reached its maximum values at about 6.0 kaB.P. The environments were warm/wet optimum for the blooming of terrestrial plants and submerged aquatic plants. After that, temperature decreased continuously and showed the lowest values at about 3.0 kaB.P. From 2.9 kaB.P. to the present, temperature rose again but alternated with cold and warm. The lake area tended to be dry after 1.4 kaB.P. 2Climatic and lake environmental changes in the Serling Co region of Tibet over a variety of timescales显示文摘The Serling Co region is located at the transitional zone of the interaction between the Indian monsoon and the westerlies over the Tibetan Plateau. The Serling Co lake covers a water area of2,389 km2(June 2017) in a 45,530 km2drainage basin. 3The spatial distribution and sedimentary processes of organic matter in surface sediments of Nam Co,Central Tibetan Plateau显示文摘In this study,67 surface sediment samples collected from Nam Co in central Tibet were analyzed for total carbon,total organic carbon and total nitrogen,and 51 of these samples were also analyzed for n-alkanes.The origin and spatial distribution of organic matter were then investigated using these proxies,and the control factors responsible for the spatial distribution patterns and paleolimnological significance were discussed.The results indicated that the origin of organic matter in surface sediment of Nam Co is consistent with the sources of n-alkanes,which were primarily submerged plants,followed by terrestrial plants,and then aquatic algae and bacteria.The organic matter in surface sediments of the lake showed typical spatial variability.Because of the great influence of underwater topography,river inputs and water quality,the spatial distribution of organic matter is enriched from the source to the deposit center.This spatial variability of organic matter in the lake indicates that the sediments in different areas have different sensitivities to environmental changes,which is important to reconstruction of paleoenvironments and paleoclimate using lake sediment cores.WANG Yong ZHU LiPing WANG JunBo JU JianTing LIN Xiao 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,36:9

5Pollen-inferred Holocene vegetation and climate histories in Taro Co,southwestern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘A 310-cm-long sediment core,covering the last10,200 years,was collected from Taro Co on the southwestern Tibetan Plateau and analyzed for pollen,grain size and total inorganic carbon content.The pollen data showed that vegetation changed from alpine steppe to alpine meadow during 10,200–8,900 cal a BP,to alpine steppe dominated by Artemisia during 8,900–7,400 cal a BP,to alpine meadow during 7,400–3,300 cal a BP and to alpine steppe after 3,300 cal a BP.Correspondingly,the pollen,grain size and total inorganic carbon content results revealed climatic change in this area over four stages.The initial stage was from 10,200 to 8,900 cal a BP,during which the climate changed from cold-dry to warm-humid.The second stage(8,900–7,400 cal a BP)was characterized by a warm and dry climate.However,at approximately7,400 cal a BP,the climate began to become cold and humid,which continued until 3,300 cal a BP.The last stage,from 3,300 cal a BP to present,was characterized as cold and increasingly arid.Climatic events of the early and mid-late Holocene showed that the area was significantly affected by the westerlies.However,the mid-Holocene climate in Taro Co was controlled by the Indian monsoon.The mid-late Holocene depositional environment record of Taro Co was very important to further elaborate the degree of influence by the westerlies or Indian monsoon.Qingfeng Ma Liping Zhu Xinmiao L Yun Guo Jianting Ju Junbo Wang Yong Wang Lingyu Tang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,31:7
6Hydrodynamic process of Tibetan Plateau lake revealed by grain size:Case study of Pumayum Co显示文摘Under the background of global warming,some lakes on the Tibetan Plateau(TP) are potentially sensitive to temperature change.With a case study of Pumayum Co,where glacier meltwater is important to supply(we call this a glacier-fed lake hereafter),we analyze the sensitivity of lake sediment grain size to temperature change.This is done by resolving the modern hydrodynamic process,coupled with comparison of paleoclimatic proxies.According to the spatial distributions of parameters,percentage of grain size and the grain size frequency distribution curve,hydrodynamic processes are analyzed.Five clastic sedimentation types are thereby discriminated.In the open lake area,suspended load transport is the main transport agent.Grain Size Trend Analysis(GSTA),a sediment dynamics model,reveals a trend toward eastward transport.This indicates that the largest and glacier-fed river,the Jiaqu River,influences the entire lake(not just the subsurface alluvial fan),and that lake sediment grain size may serve as a temperature indicator.Time series comparison between grain size of a short core from the central lake and meteorological data confirms this temperature indication,which in turn shows reliability of the method discriminating the hydrodynamic process.This case study will improve the ability of paleoclimatic reconstruction using lake sediment in glacier-fed lakes on the Tibetan Plateau.JU JianTing ZHU LiPing FENG JinLiang WANG JunBo WANG Yong XIE ManPing PENG Ping ZHEN XiaoLin LÜXinMiao 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,19:7

9Comparison of surface water chemistry and weathering effects of two lake basins in the Changtang Nature Reserve,China显示文摘The geochemistry of natural waters in the Changtang Nature Reserve,northern Tibet,can help us understand the geology of catchments,and provide additional insight in surface processes that influence water chemistry such as rock weathering on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.However,severe natural conditions are responsible for a lack of scientific data for this area.This study represents the first investigation of the chemical composition of surface waters and weathering effects in two lake basins in the reserve(Lake Dogaicoring Qiangco and Lake Longwei Co).The results indicate that total dissolved solids(TDS)in the two lakes are significantly higher than in other gauged lakes on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau,reaching 20–40 g/L,and that TDS of the tectonic lake(Lake Dogaicoring Qiangco)is significantly higher than that of the barrier lake(Lake Longwei Co).Na+and Cl-are the dominant ions in the lake waters as well as in the glacier-fed lake inflows,with chemical compositions mainly affected by halite weathering.In contrast,ion contents of inflowing rivers fed by nearby runoff are lower and concentrations of dominant ions are not significant.Evaporite,silicate,and carbonate weathering has relatively equal effects on these rivers.Due to their limited scope,small streams near the lakes are less affected by carbonate than by silicate weathering.Rui Wang Zhaofei Liu Liguang Jiang Zhijun Yao Junbo Wang Jianting Ju 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:1

11Effect of casting speed on microstructure,corrosion behaviour and in vivo bone reaction of Mg-rare earth alloys显示文摘In this study,two casting speeds of 10 and 30 r/min were used in vertical twin-roll casting(TRC)to obtain Mg-rare earth(Mg-RE)alloys,and their microstructures,corrosion behaviours and in vivo bone reactions were investigated in detail.The results indicated that the roll-castings of TRC-30 r/min exhibited a finer grain size and higher volume fraction of non-crystallization than those in castings of TRC-10 r/min.Moreover,the results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and potentiodynamic polarization indicated that the castings of TRC-30 r/min displayed a higher corrosion resistance compared with those in the castings of TRC-10 r/min.Animal tests showed that a higher degree of newly formed bone tissues was achieved by implants of TRC-30 r/min.Additionally,in vivo tests displayed that degradation properties of the TRC-30-r/min implants were better than those of the TRC-10-r/min implants;furthermore,the degradation layer was a two-layer structure,and P and Ca were enriched in the outer degradation layer.In summary,these findings elucidated that casting speed has a substantial effect on the microstructure and degradation property of Mg-based implants,and the degradation property performs better with increased casting speed.WANG HaiJian WANG HaiWei KUMAZAWA Takashi JU DongYing CAO JianTing 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,2:0
12The decrease of salinity in lakes on the Tibetan Plateau between 2000 and 2019 based on remote sensing model inversions显示文摘Salinity is an essential factor of lake water environments and aquatic systems.It is also sensitive to climatic changes and human activities based on concentration variations of solved minerals.However,there are few consecutively temporal studies on lake salinity variations on the Tibetan Plateau because the harsh environmental conditions make it diffcult to carry out in-situ observations for several lakes.In this study.we constructed a remote sensing retrieval model for lake salinity based on 87 in-situ lake investigations;moreover,interannual lake salinity and associated variations from 152 lakes larger than 50 km2 were analyzed on the Tibetan Plateau.A significant decreasing trend in lake salinity was observed between 2000 and 2019(p<0.01).The spatial variation of lake salinity was negatively correlated with lake area changes,and the optical characteristics of salt mineral solutions were generally positively correlated with mineral concentration based on the absorption coefficients of ionic solutions.The decreasing trend of lake salinity was not directly affected by the.precipitation,but was,potentially dominated by the expanding lake water volume.This study improves the understanding of regional water environmental changes and management efficacy of water resources.Chong Liu Liping Zhu Junbo Wang Jianting Ju Qingfeng Ma Qiangqiang Kou 2023International Journal of Digital Earth2023,16,1:0
