| 1 | Toward Wisdom-Evolutionary and Primitive-Concise 6G:A New Paradigm of Semantic Communication Networks显示文摘The sixth generation(6G)mobile networks will reshape the world by offering instant,efficient,and intelligent hyper-connectivity,as envisioned by the previously proposed Ubiquitous-X 6G networks.Such hyper-massive and global connectivity will introduce tremendous challenges into the operation and management of 6G networks,calling for revolutionary theories and technological innovations.To this end,we propose a new route to boost network capabilities toward a wisdom-evolutionary and primitive-concise network(WePCN)vision for the Ubiquitous-X 6G network.In particular,we aim to concretize the evolution path toward the WePCN by first conceiving a new semantic representation framework,namely semantic base,and then establishing an intelligent and efficient semantic communication(IE-SC)network architecture.In the IE-SC architecture,a semantic intelligence plane is employed to interconnect the semantic-empowered physical-bearing layer,network protocol layer,and application-intent layer via semantic information flows.The proposed architecture integrates artificial intelligence and network technologies to enable intelligent interactions among various communication objects in 6G.It features a lower bandwidth requirement,less redundancy,and more accurate intent identification.We also present a brief review of recent advances in semantic communications and highlight potential use cases,complemented by a range of open challenges for 6G. | Ping Zhang Wenjun Xu Hui Gao Kai Niu Xiaodong Xu Xiaoqi Qin Caixia Yuan Zhijin Qin Haitao Zhao Jibo Wei Fangwei Zhang | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,1: | 28 |
| 2 | Malus-metasurface-assisted polarization multiplexing显示文摘Polarization optics plays a pivotal role in diffractive,refractive,and emerging flat optics,and has been widely employed in contemporary optical industries and daily life.Advanced polarization manipulation leads to robust control of the polarization direction of light.Nevertheless,polarization control has been studied largely independent of the phase or intensity of light.Here,we propose and experimentally validate a Malus-metasurface-assisted paradigm to enable simultaneous and independent control of the intensity and phase properties of light simply by polarization modulation.The orientation degeneracy of the classical Malus’s law implies a new degree of freedom and enables us to establish a one-to-many mapping strategy for designing anisotropic plasmonic nanostructures to engineer the Pancharatnam–Berry phase profile,while keeping the continuous intensity modulation unchanged.The proposed Malus metadevice can thus generate a near-field greyscale pattern,and project an independent far-field holographic image using an ultrathin and single-sized metasurface.This concept opens up distinct dimensions for conventional polarization optics,which allows one to merge the functionality of phase manipulation into an amplitudemanipulation-assisted optical component to form a multifunctional nano-optical device without increasing the complexity of the nanostructures.It can empower advanced applications in information multiplexing and encryption,anti-counterfeiting,dual-channel display for virtual/augmented reality,and many other related fields. | Liangui Deng Juan Deng Zhiqiang Guan Jin Tao Yang Chen Yan Yang Daxiao Zhang Jibo Tang Zhongyang Li Zile Li Shaohua Yu Guoxing Zheng Hongxing Xu Cheng-Wei Qiu Shuang Zhang | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 7 |

| 4 | Experimental Research on Temperature Sensing of Seawater Based on Three Interferometers Incorporated With Bow Tie Fiber显示文摘Three interferometers(the Sagnac sensor,the linear polarization interferometer,and the reflecting polarization interferometer)incorporated with the bow tie fiber are proposed to detect the seawater temperature.Bow tie fiber,a kind of polarization maintaining fiber,has stress induced birefringence.The three interferometers are categorized as transmission and reflection types to analyze the sensing principles.Related experiments are performed to explore the influence of the wavelength and length of the bow tie fiber on the sensitivity and free spectral range(FSR).The sensitivity and FSR both increase with the wavelength increasing.The sensitivity fluctuates in a small range and FSR decreases with the length increasing.The reflecting polarization interferometer has the bigger sensitivity of–1.19 nm/℃than the other two.And it has the advantages of easy fabrication,simple operation,and good stability,so it is applicable in real ocean exploration.Our work can provide a reference to researchers who do oceanographic research. | Changxin ZHAI Yu LI Shanshan WANG Jibo XU Zheng WEN Jing WANG | 2023 | Photonic Sensors2023,13,4: | 0 |
| 5 | Identification of twist-angle-dependent excitons in WS^(2)/WSe_(2) heterobilayers显示文摘Stacking atomically thin films enables artificial construction of van der Waals heterostructures with exotic functionalities such as superconductivity,the quantum Hall effect,and engineered light-matter interactions.In particular,heterobilayers composed of monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides have attracted significant interest due to their controllable interlayer coupling and trapped valley excitons in moirésuperlattices.However,the identification of twist-angle-modulated optical transitions in heterobilayers is sometimes controversial since both momentum-direct(K–K)and-indirect excitons reside on the low energy side of the bright exciton in the monolayer constituents.Here,we attribute the optical transition at~1.35 eV in the WS_(2)/WSe_(2) heterobilayer to an indirectΓ–K transition based on a systematic analysis and comparison of experimental photoluminescence spectra with theoretical calculations.The exciton wavefunction obtained by the state-of-the-art GW-Bethe-Salpeter equation approach indicates that both the electron and hole of the excitons are contributed by the WS_(2) layer.Polarization-resolved k-space imaging further confirms that the transition dipole moment of this optical transition is dominantly in-plane and is independent of the twist angle.The calculated absorption spectrum predicts that the so-called interlayer exciton peak coming from the K–K transition is located at 1.06 eV,but with a much weaker amplitude.Our work provides new insight into the steady-state and dynamic properties of twist-angle-dependent excitons in van der Waals heterostructures. | Ke Wu Hongxia Zhong Quanbing Guo Jibo Tang Jing Zhang Lihua Qian Zhifeng Shi Chendong Zhang Shengjun Yuan Shunping Zhang Hongxing Xu | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,6: | 0 |
| 6 | Molecular crystals based on 9,10-distyrylanthracene derivatives with high solid state fluorescence efficiency and uniaxial orientation induced by supramolecular interactions显示文摘Two 9,10-distyrylanthracene (DSA) derivatives CNDSA and t-BUDSA were designed and synthesized, and their photophysical properties and crystal structures were investigated. Compared to DSA, the maximum emission peaks of the two compounds showed red-shift not only in THF solution, but also in crystals, because the introduction of electron-withdrawing substituents to DSA leads to more dispersion of the electrons in the molecules. The two crystals of CNDSA and t-BUDSA show strong fluores- cence with the efficiency F of 45% and 33%, respectively, which may be resulted from no obvious-interactions between molecules inside the crystal due to the large distance between the two adjacent molecules and nearly no overlap between the central anthracene planes.
