| 1 | Polarisation optics for biomedical and clinical applications:a review显示文摘Many polarisation techniques have been harnessed for decades in biological and clinical research,each based upon measurement of the vectorial properties of light or the vectorial transformations imposed on light by objects.Various advanced vector measurement/sensing techniques,physical interpretation methods,and approaches to analyse biomedically relevant information have been developed and harnessed.In this review,we focus mainly on summarising methodologies and applications related to tissue polarimetry,with an emphasis on the adoption of the Stokes-Mueller formalism.Several recent breakthroughs,development trends,and potential multimodal uses in conjunction with other techniques are also presented.The primary goal of the review is to give the reader a general overview in the use of vectorial information that can be obtained by polarisation optics for applications in biomedical and clinical research. | Chao He Honghui He Jintao Chang Binguo Chen Hui Ma Martin J.Booth | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,11: | 4 |
| 2 | Regulating the d band in WS_(2)@NC hierarchical nanospheres for efficient lithium polysulfide conversion in lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The performance of lithium-sulfur batteries is deteriorated by the inferior conductivity of sulfur,the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs),sluggish redox kinetics of polysulfide intermediates and serious volumetric expansion of sulfur.To overcome these challenges,we report a versatile route to prepare multi-functional nanocomposites with tuable hierarchical structure via ammonium hydroxide(NH_(3)·H_(2) O)induced self-assembly.The versatility of the system has been demonstrated that the organization of the hierarchical structure can be regulated by adding different amounts of NH_(3)·H_(2) O,and WS_(2) and Co_(9)S_(8) with nitrogen-doped carbon coating(denoted as WS_(2)@NC and Co_(9)S_(8)@NC)can be prepared by adding different precursor salts.When the as-prepared materials are applied for Li-S batteries,the WS_(2)@NC composite exhibits a reversible capacity of 1107.4 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C after 500 cycles and even 728.9 mAh g^(-1) at2 C for 1000 cycles,which is significantly better than the Co_(9)S_(8) counterpart and other reported WS_(2) sulfur hosts.Experimentally,the advantageous performance of WS_(2) could be attributed to its higher surface area and total pore volume,giving rise to the easier access to electrolyte and better ability to buffer the volume change during the charge/discharge process.Theoretically,the density function theory(DFT)calculation reveals that the as-prepared WS_(2) has a higher binding energy towards LiPSs as well as a lower energy barrier for Li^(+)diffusion on the surface than Co_(9)S_(8).More significantly,the density of states(DOS)analysis further confirms that the superior performance is mainly ascribed to the more prominent shifting and the more charge compensation from d band of W than Co,which increase electronic concentration and give more hybridization of d-p orbitals in the Fermi level of the adsorbed Li2 S4 to accelerate the lithium polysulfide interfacial redox and conversion dynamics in WS_(2).By proposing this mechanism,this work sheds new light on the understanding of catalytic conversion of lithium polysulfides at the atomic level and the strategy to develop advanced cathode materials for high-performance lithium-sulfur batteries. | Jintao Liu Shuhao Xiaoa Le Chang Long Lai Rui Wu Yong Xiang Xingquan Liu Jun Song Chen | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,5: | 2 |

| 8 | Clinical safety and efficacy of allogenic human adipose mesenchymal stromal cells-derived exosomes in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease:a phaseⅠ/Ⅱclinical trial显示文摘Background There have been no effective treatments for slowing or reversing Alzheimer’s disease(AD)until now.Growing preclinical evidence,including this study,suggests that mesenchymal stem cells-secreted exosomes(MSCs-Exos)have the potential to cure AD.Aims The first three-arm,drug-intervention,phase I/II clinical trial was conducted to explore the safety and efficacy of allogenic human adipose MSCs-Exos(ahaMSCs-Exos)in patients with mild to moderate AD.Methods The eligible subjects were assigned to one of three dosage groups,intranasally administrated with ahaMSCs-Exos two times per week for 12 weeks,and underwent follow-up visits at weeks 16,24,36 and 48.Results No adverse events were reported.In the medium-dose arm,Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale–Cognitive section(ADAS-cog)scores decreased by 2.33(1.19)and the basic version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment scores increased by 2.38(0.58)at week 12 compared with baseline levels,indicating improved cognitive function.Moreover,the ADAS-cog scores in the medium-dose arm decreased continuously by 3.98 points until week 36.There were no significant differences in altered amyloid or tau deposition among the three arms,but hippocampal volume shrank less in the medium-dose arm to some extent.Conclusions Intranasal administration of ahaMSCs-Exos was safe and well tolerated,and a dose of at least 4×10^(8)particles could be selected for further clinical trials. | Xinyi Xie Qingxiang Song Chengxiang Dai Shishuang Cui Ran Tang Suke Li Jing Chang Ping Li Jintao Wang Jianping Li Chao Gao Hongzhuan Chen Shengdi Chen Rujing Ren Xiaoling Gao Gang Wang | 2023 | General Psychiatry2023,36,5: | 0 |
