| 1 | In-situ U-Pb dating of uraninite by fs-LA-ICP-MS显示文摘In this study,the Pb/U fractionation between zircon and uraninite during femtosecond Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry(fs-LA-ICP-MS)analysis was studied in detail.The results show significant Pb/U fractionation between zircon and uraninite during fs-LA-ICP-MS analysis that when calibrated against the zircon standard M257,the obtained U-Pb age of the Chinese national uraninite standard GBW04420 is 17%older than the recommended value.Thus,the accurate in-situ U-Pb dating of uraninite by LA-ICP-MS requires matrix-matched external standards for calibration.Uraninite in thin sections of two U-mineralized leucogranite from the Gaudeanmus in Namibia was analyzed by a fs-LA-ICP-MS equipped with a Signal Smooth Device(SSD),using laser spot and frequency of 10μm and 1 Hz,respectively.When calibrated using GBW04420 as the external standard,two samples give weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages of 504±3 Ma(2σ,n=21)and503±3 Ma(2σ,n=22),and only one of two samples yields a concordia U-Pb age of 507±1 Ma(2σ,n=21).These results are consistent with ID-TIMS U-Pb ages of 509±1 and 508±12 Ma and are also indistinguishable from zircon U-Pb upper intercept ages of 506±33 Ma(2σ,n=29)and 501±51 Ma(2σ,n=29).The present study shows that in-situ U-Pb dating of uraninite can deliver more reliable formation ages of the deposit than dating coeval high-U zircon because the latter commonly suffer significant Pb loss after formation.Our results confirm that GBW04420 is an ideal matrix matching standard for in-situ U-Pb dating of uraninite. | ZONG KeQing CHEN JinYong HU ZhaoChu LIU YongSheng LI Ming FAN HongHai MENG YanNing | 2015 | Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,10: | 22 |

| 3 | Near-diffraction-limited linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser with record kilowatt output显示文摘In this paper, we propose and experimentally investigate a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser(RFL) operating at 1080 nm and boost the output power to kilowatt level with near-diffraction-limited beam quality using a master oscillation power amplifier. The RFL based on a half-opened cavity, which is composed of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth fiber Bragg grating and a 500 m piece of polarization-maintained Ge-doped fiber, generates a 0.71 W seed laser with an 88 pm full width at half-maximum(FWHM) linewidth and a 22.5 dB polarization extinction ratio(PER) for power scaling. A two-stage fiber amplifier enhances the seed laser to the maximal 1.01 k W with a PER value of 17 dB and a beam quality of M_x^2=1.15 and M_y^2=1.13. | 4 | Sediment provenance discrimination in northern Okinawa Trough during the last 24 ka and paleoenvironmental implication:rare earth elements evidence显示文摘Rare earth elements(REE) compositions and discriminant function were successfully used to examine high resolution sediment source changes in the northern Okinawa Trough over the last 24.1 ka,especially for the influence from the Yellow River and the Tsushima Warm Current(TWC) that has not been well solved.Variations of these parameters were clearly divided into three distinct depositional units.During Interval 1(24.1-16.0 ka BP),the paleo-Yellow River and the paleo-Yangtze River mouths were situated near the studied area and could have played major roles in the sedimentation therein.In Interval 2(16.0-7.3 ka BP),these river mouths gradually retreated with global sea-level rise,leading to less fluvial inputs from them to the northern Okinawa Trough.Meanwhile,formation of the TWC could carry some sediment loads of Taiwan to the studied core,especially during its late phase(8.0-7.3 ka BP).Modern oceanographic conditions,with a predominance of the TWC,were finally established since the beginning of Interval 3,causing more terrigenous contribution from Taiwan to the studied area.Sub-sequently,modern depositional environments mainly influenced by the Yellow River,the Yangtze River,and the TWC were finally formed. | 徐兆凯 李铁刚 常凤鸣 CHOI Jinyong LIM Dhongil 徐方建 | 2012 | Journal of Rare Earths2012,30,11: | 12 |
| 5 | Urban expansion in China and its effect on cultivated land before and after initiating'Reform and Open Policy'显示文摘Urbanization in China has expanded at an unprecedented speed since the declaration of 'Reform and Open Policy'and presented many challenges. Unbalanced regional development, appearance of super megacities and concomitant problems,and conflicts between urbanization and cultivated land protection are three critical problems that Chinese urbanization has to face. To develop new plans for foreseeable future urbanization in China, it is critical to understand the evolving history of cities across China. This study maps urban expansion of 60 typical Chinese cities based on large amount of remote sensing data and the labor-intensive image interpretation method, in order to understand the history of urban expansion from the 1970 s to 2013.Results showed that area of cities expanded 5.23 times compared to their area in the 1970 s. Urban expansion in China accelerated three times(1988–1996, 1999–2006, and 2009–2011) and decelerated three times(1997–1998, 2007–2008, and 2012–2013) over the 40 years. The urban area of South China expanded most significantly 9.42 times, while the urban area in Northeast China expanded only 2.37 times. The disparity among different administrative ranks of cities was even greater than(3.81 times) the differences among different regions. Super megacities have been continuously expanding at a fast rate(8.60-fold), and have not shown obvious signs of slowing down. The proportion of cultivated land among the land sources for urban expansion decreased to a small extent in the 1990 s, but cultivated land continues to be the major land source for urban expansion. | 6 | Geochemistry of rare earth elements in the mid-late Quaternary sediments of the western Philippine Sea and their paleoenvironmental significance显示文摘Based on a δ18O chronology,rare earth elements(REE) and other typical elements in sediments from core MD06-3047 in the western Philippine Sea were analyzed to constrain the provenances of the sediments and investigate quantitative changes in the Asian eolian input to the study area over the last 700 ka.Among the competing processes that might affect REE compositions,sediment provenance is the most important one.Provenance analysis suggests that the study sediments have two provenance end-members;local volcanic sources are dominant,and eolian dust from the Asian continent has a smaller contribution.During glacial periods,eolian input to the western Philippine Sea was enhanced.In contrast,material supply from local volcanics increased during interglacial periods.Changes in eolian input to the study area were probably related to the strength of the East Asian winter monsoon(EAWM) as well as aridity in the Asian continent on an orbital time scale,and were partly influenced by local control factors on shorter time scales.Therefore,we propose that the present study expands the application of the REE-based method for quantitatively estimating the eolian component from the mid-latitude northern Pacific to the low-latitude western Pacific.Additionally,the study preliminarily confirms the influence of EAWM-transported eolian material on sedimentation in the western Philippine Sea since 700 ka. | XU ZhaoKai LI TieGang WAN ShiMing YIN XueBo JIANG FuQing SUN HanJie JinYong CHOI DhongIl LIM | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4: | 10 |

The TiC layer is coated as the first layer in the multiple film, the change of growth rate of the film on the 316L Stainless steel is not same as the one on carbides substrates, while the mole ratio of CRi to TiCLi (mCH/TiCl4) is changed from 1.2 to 2.0. The Ti [C, N], as a kind of inter-layer between TiC and TiN layers, is helpful to improve the adhesion between the TiC and TiN layer. | 8 | Spatial and temporal variations of coastlines in northern China (2000-2012)显示文摘This study examined the spatial distribution of the continent coastline in northern China using remote sensing and GIS techniques,and calculated the fractal dimension of the coastline by box-counting method,with a time span from 2000 to 2012.Moreover,we analyzed the characteristics of spatial-temporal changes in the coastline's length and fractal dimension,the relationship between the length change and fractal dimension change,and the driving forces of coastline changes in northern China.During the research period,the coastline of the study area increased by 637.95 km,at a rate of 53.16 km per year.On the regional level,the most significant change in coastline length was observed in Tianjin and Hebei.Temporally,the northern China coastline grew faster after 2008.The most dramatic growth was found between 2010 and 2011,with an increasing rate of 2.49% per year.The fractal dimension of the coastline in northern China was increasing during the research period,and the most dramatic increase occurred in Bohai Rim.There is a strong-positive linear relationship between the historical coastline length and fractal dimension(the correlation coefficient was 0.9962).Through statistical analysis of a large number of local coastline changes,it can be found that the increase(or decrease) of local coastline length will,in most cases,lead to the increase(or decrease) of the whole coastline fractal dimension.Civil-coastal engineering construction was the most important factor driving the coastline change in northern China.Port construction,fisheries facilities and salt factories were the top three construction activities.Compared to human activities,the influence of natural processes such as estuarine deposit and erosion were relatively small. | XU Jinyong ZHANG Zengxiang ZHAO Xiaoli WEN Qingke ZUO Lijun WANG Xiao YI Ling | 2014 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2014,24,1: | 10 |

| 10 | High power all-fiberized and narrow-bandwidth MOPA system by tandem pumping strategy for thermally induced mode instability suppression显示文摘An all-fiberized and narrow-bandwidth master oscillator power amplification(MOPA) system with record output power of 4 kW level and slope efficiency of 78% is demonstrated. Tandem pumping strategy is tentatively introduced into the narrow-bandwidth MOPA system for thermally induced mode instability(TMI) suppression. The stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) effect is balanced by simply using one-stage phase modulation technique. With different phase modulation signals, SBS limited output powers of 336 W, 1.2 kW and 3.94 kW are respectively achieved with spectral bandwidths accounting for 90% power of ~0.025, 0.17 and ~0.89 nm. Compared with our previous 976 nm pumping system, TMI threshold is overall boosted to be >5 times in which tandem pumping increases the TMI threshold of >3times. The beam quality(M~2 factor) of the output laser is well within 1.5 below the TMI threshold while it is ultimately saturated to be 1.86 with the influence of TMI at maximal output power. Except for SBS and TMI, stimulated Raman scattering(SRS) effect will be another challenge for further power scaling. | 12 | Preparation of polypropylene/montmorillonite nanocomposites by intercalative polymerization:Effect of in situ polymer matrix functionalization on the stability of the nanocomposite structure显示文摘The copolymerization of propylene and 5-hexenyl-9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (5-hexenyl-9-BBN) has been conducted with an MgCl2/TiCl4 catalyst intercalated in an organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) with triethylaluminum (AlEt3) cocatalyst and diphenyldimethoxysilane (DDS) external donor. This polymerization process simultaneously results in both the exfoliation of MMT layers to realize the preparation of polypropylene (PP)/MMT nanocomposites and the implantation of reactive borane groups in the formed PP matrix. The polymer-borne borane groups have been able to undergo an effi-cient hydrolysis process under very mild reaction conditions (40℃, 3 h, in THF), introducing hydroxy groups into PP without sacrificing the polymerization-formed nanocomposite structure (the exfoliation of MMT). | 13 | Tandem pumping architecture enabled high power random fiberlaser with near-diffraction-limited beam quality显示文摘In this contribution, we present the tandem pumping avenue leveraged performance scaling of random fiber laser to record 3 kW level with inherent temporal stability and near-diffraction-limited beam quality. The high power system employs a four-stage master oscillator power amplifier chain. The master oscillator is a half-opened cavity structured random distributed feedback fiber laser centered at 1080 nm and pumped by incoherent amplified spontaneous emission source. Narrowband random laser seed is selected by employing a spectral filtering module with a maximum output power of 1.08 W, full width at half maximum linewidth of 0.47 nm and spectral optical-signal-to-noise ratio of about 42 dB. As to the main amplification stage, for given 104 W pre-amplified random laser seed and 3.61 kW pump laser, an ultimate output power of 3.03 kW can be obtained,corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 81.05%. Nearly single-transverse-mode amplified random laser can be achieved even at full power level for inherent high thermal modal instability threshold enabled by tandem pumping and inducing bending loss for high-order transverse-mode. | 14 | Genesis and Uranium Sources of Leucogranite-hosted Uranium Deposits in the Gaudeanmus Area, Central Damara Belt, Namibia: Study of Element and Nd Isotope Geochemistry显示文摘This paper presents a systematic study of major and trace elements and Sm-Nd isotopes in leucogranites closely related to uranium mineralization in the Gaudeanmus area, Namibia. The results illustrate that the uraniferous leucogranites possess high Si_O_2(68.8 wt%–76.0 wt%, average 73.1 wt%) and K(4.05 wt%–7.78 wt%, average 5.94 wt%) contents, and are sub-alkaline and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous, as reflected by A/CNK values of 0.96–1.07 with an average of 1.01. The leucogranites are rich in light rare earth elements(LREE/HREE = 2.53–7.71;(La/Yb)N = 2.14–10.40), have moderate Eu depletion and high Rb/Sr ratios(2.03–5.50 with an average of 4.36); meanwhile, they are enriched in Rb, K, Th, U and Pb, and depleted in Ba, Nb, Ta, and Sr. The ε_(Nd)(t) values of uraninites range from -14.8 to -16.5, and the two-stage Nd model ages are 2.43–2.56 Ga. Detailed elemental and Sm-Nd isotopic geochemical characteristics suggest that the leucogranites were formed in a postorogenic extensional environment. | 17 | Microstructural evolution and corrosion behavior of directionally solidified FeCoNiCrAl high entropy alloy显示文摘The FeCoNiCrAl alloys have many potential applications in the fields of structural materials, but few attempts were made to characterize the directional solidification of high entropy alloys. In the present research, the microstructure and corrosion behavior of FeCoNiCrAl high entropy alloy have been investigated under directional solidification. The results show that with increasing solidification rate, the interface morphology of the alloy evolves from planar to cellular and dendritic. The electrochemical experiment results demonstrate that the corrosion products of both non-directionally and directionally solidified FeCoNiCrAl alloys appear as rectangular blocks in phases which Cr and Fe are enriched, while Al and Ni are depleted, suggesting that Al and Ni are dissolved into the NaCl solution. | 18 | Spatial Differences of Coastal Urban Expansion in China from 1970s to 2013显示文摘As the ′economic engines′ of China,coastal cities have developed and expanded considerably since the 1970 s.In this study,information on the urban expansion process of Chinese coastal cities from the 1970 s to 2013 was retrieved.Through the analysis of stage characteristics,spatial expansion modes,influences on land use,centroid shifts,and spatial morphological evolutions,the spatial differences of coastal urban expansion were revealed.Results indicate that 1) the expansion stages of southern coastal cities are more complex than those of northern coastal cities,and the expansion ranges and speeds of the former are far higher than those of the latter;2) the spatial expansion of southern coastal cities mostly adopt a single mode,whereas northern coastal cities mostly adopt a mixed mode;3) significant spatial differences in the occupations of different land sources exist between the south and the north along the coastline;4) the centroid of coastal cities tends to migrate toward the coastline,and the centroid shift distances of southern coastal cities are clearly higher than those of northern coastal cities;and 5) the spatial morphology of southern coastal cities tends to be compact,whereas that of northern coastal cities tends to be loose.Policies have a powerful significance in terms of guiding urban expansion and its spatial differences in coastal cities.Urban expansion in coastal cities will encounter new opportunities and challenges under the guidance of new types of urbanization strategies. | SHI Lifeng LIU Fang ZHANG Zengxiang ZHAO Xiaoli LIU Bin XU Jinyong WEN Qingke YI Ling HU Shunguang | 2015 | Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4: | 7 |

| 20 | Genetic control of flowering time in woody plants: Roses as an emerging model显示文摘Genetic control of the timing of flowering in woody plants is complex and has yet to be adequately investigated due to their long life-cycle and difficulties in genetic modification.Studies in Populus,one of the best woody plant models,have revealed a highly conserved genetic network for flowering timing in annuals.However,traits like continuous flowering cannot be addressed with Populus.Roses and strawberries have relatively small,diploid genomes and feature enormous natural variation.With the development of new genetic populations and genomic tools,roses and strawberries have become good models for studying the molecular mechanisms underpinning the regulation of flowering in woody plants.Here,we review findings on the molecular and genetic factors controlling continuous flowering in roses and woodland strawberries.Natural variation at TFL1 orthologous genes in both roses and strawberries seems be the key plausible factor that regulates continuous flowering.However,recent efforts suggest that a two-recessive-loci model may explain the controlling of continuous flowering in roses.We propose that epigenetic factors,including non-coding RNAs or chromatin-related factors,might also play a role.Insights into the genetic control of flowering time variation in roses should benefit the development of new germplasm for woody crops and shed light on the molecular genetic bases for the production and maintenance of plant biodiversity. | Xue Dong Xiaodong Jiang Guoqiang Kuang Qingbo Wang Micai Zhong Dongmin Jin Jinyong Hu | 2017 | Plant Diversity2017,39,2: | 6 |
