1Intra-abdominal pressure:Time ripe to revise managementguidelines of acute pancreatitis?显示文摘AIM: To systematically review evidence on pathophysiology of intra-abdominal pressure(IAP) in acute pancreatitis(AP) with its clinical correlates. METHODS: Systematic review of available evidence in English literature with relevant medical subject heading terms on Pub Med, Medline and Scopus with further search from open access sources on internet as suggested by articles retrieved. RESULTS: Intra-abdominal hypertension(IAH) is increasingly gaining recognition as a point of specific intervention with potential to alter disease outcome and improve mortality in AP. IAH can be expected in at least 17% of patients presenting with diagnosis of AP to a typical tertiary care hospital(prevalence increasing to 50% in those with severe disease). Abdominal compartment syndrome can be expected in at least 15% patients with severe disease. Recent guidelines on management of AP do not acknowledge utility of surveillance for IAP other than those by Japanese Society of Hepato-BiliaryPancreatic Surgery. We further outline pathophysiologic mechanisms of IAH; understanding of which advances our knowledge and helps to coherently align common observed variations in management related conundrums(such as fluid therapy, nutrition and antibiotic prophylaxis) with potential to further individualize treatment in AP. 2Property mapping of polycrystalline diamond coatings over large area显示文摘Large-area polycrystalline diamond(PCD)coatings are important for fields such as thermal management,optical windows,tribological moving mechanical assemblies,harsh chemical environments,biological sensors,etc.Microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition(MPCVD)is a standard technique to grow high-quality PCD films over large area due to the absence of contact between the reactive species and the filament or the chamber wall.However,the existence of temperature gradients during growth may compromise the desired uniformity of the final diamond coatings.In the present work,a thick PCD coating was deposited on a 100-mm silicon substrate inside a 915-MHz reactor;the temperature gradient resulted in a non-uniform diamond coating.An attempt was made to relate the local temperature variation during deposition and the different properties of the final coating.It was found that there was large instability inside the system,in terms of substrate temperature(as high asΔT=212℃),that resulted in a large dispersion of the diamond coating’s final properties:residual stress(-15.8 GPa to+6.2 GPa),surface morphology(octahedral pyramids with(111)planes to cubo-octahedrals with(100)flat top surfaces),thickness(190μm to 245μm),columnar growth of diamond(with appearance of variety of nanostructures),nucleation side hardness(17 GPa to 48 GPa),quality(Raman peak FWHM varying from 5.1 cm^(-1) to 12.4 cm^(-1) with occasional splitting).This random variation in properties over large-area PCD coating may hamper reproducible diamond growth for any meaningful technological application.Awadesh Kumar MALLIK Sandip BYSAKH Monjoy SREEMANY Sudakshina ROY Jiten GHOSH Soumyendu ROY Joana Catarina MENDES Jose GRACIO Someswar DATTA 2014Journal of Advanced Ceramics2014,3,1:4

11Data-Driven Prediction of Mechanical Properties in Support of Rapid Certification of Additively Manufactured Alloys显示文摘Predicting the mechanical properties of additively manufactured parts is often a tedious process,requiring the integration of multiple stand-alone and expensive simulations.Furthermore,as properties are highly location-dependent due to repeated heating and cooling cycles,the properties prediction models must be run for multiple locations before the part-level performance can be analyzed for certification,compounding the computational expense.This work has proposed a rapid prediction framework that replaces the physics-based mechanistic models with Gaussian process metamodels,a type of machine learning model for statistical inference with limited data.The metamodels can predict the varying properties within an entire part in a fraction of the time while providing uncertainty quantification.The framework was demonstrated with the prediction of the tensile yield strength of Ferrium?PH48S maraging stainless steel fabricated by additive manufacturing.Impressive agreement was found between the metamodels and the mechanistic models,and the computation was dramatically decreased from hours of physics-based simulations to less than a second with metamodels.This method can be extended to predict various materials properties in different alloy systems whose processstructure-property-performance interrelationships are linked by mechanistic models.It is powerful for rapidly identifying the spatial properties of a part with compositional and processing parameter variations,and can support part certification by providing a fast interface between materials models and part-level thermal and performance simulations.Fuyao Yan Yu-Chin Chan Abhinav Saboo Jiten Shah Gregory BOlson Wei Chen 2018Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2018,,12:1
