| 11 | A Review of Recent Advances in Hybrid Natural Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites显示文摘Natural fiber reinforced polymer composites(NFRCs)have demonstrated great potential for many different applications in various industries due to their advantages compared to synthetic fiber-reinforced composites,such as low environmental impact and low cost.However,one of the drawbacks is that the NFRCs present relatively low mechanical properties and the absorption of humidity due to the hydrophilic characteristic of the natural fibre.One method to increase their performance is hybridization.Therefore,understanding the properties and potential of using multiple reinforcement’s materials to develop hybrid composites is of great interest.This paper provides an overview of the recent advances in hybrid natural fiber reinforced polymer composites.First,the main factors that affect the performance of hybrid fiber-reinforced composites were briefly discussed.The effect of hybridization on the mechanical and thermal properties of hybrid composites reinforced with several types of natural fibers(i.e.,sisal,jute,curauá,ramie,banana,etc.)or natural fibers combined with synthetic fibers is pre-sented.Finally,the water absorption behaviour of hybrid fiber-reinforced composites is also discussed.It was con-cluded that the main challenges that need to be addressed in order to increase the use of natural-natural or natural-synthetic hybrid composites in industry are the poor adhesion between natural fibers and matrix,thermal stability and moisture absorption of natural fibers.Some of these challenges were addressed by recent develop-ment in fibers treatment and modification,and product innovation(hybridization). | Jorge Neto Henrique Queiroz Ricardo Aguiar Rosemere Lima Daniel Cavalcanti Mariana Doina Banea | 2022 | Journal of Renewable Materials2022,10,3: | 0 |

| 14 | Multi-omics Analysis of Young Portulaca oleracea L.Plants’Responses to High NaCl Doses Reveals Insights into Pathways and Genes Responsive to Salinity Stress in this Halophyte Species显示文摘Soil salinity is among the abiotic stressors that threaten agriculture the most,and purslane(Portulaca oleracea L.)is a dicot species adapted to inland salt desert and saline habitats that hyper accumulates salt and has high phytoremediation potential.Many researchers consider purslane a suitable model species to study the mechanisms of plant tolerance to drought and salt stresses.Here,a robust salinity stress protocol was developed and used to characterize the morphophysiological responses of young purslane plants to salinity stress;then,leaf tissue underwent characterization by distinct omics platforms to gain further insights into its response to very high salinity stress.The salinity stress protocol did generate different levels of stress by gradients of electrical conductivity at field capacity and water potential in the saturation extract of the substrate,and the morphological parameters indicated three distinct stress levels.As expected from a halophyte species,these plants remained alive under very high levels of salinity stress,showing salt crystal-like structures constituted mainly by Na^(+),Cl^(−),and K^(+)on and around closed stomata.A comprehensive and large-scale metabolome and transcriptome single and integrated analyses were then employed using leaf samples.The multi-omics integration(MOI)system analysis led to a data-set of 51 metabolic pathways with at least one enzyme and one metabolite differentially expressed due to salinity stress.These data sets(of genes and metabolites)are valuable for future studies aimed to deepen our knowledge on the mechanisms behind the high tolerance of this species to salinity stress.In conclusion,besides showing that this species applies salt exclusion already in young plants to support very high levels of salinity stress,the initial analysis of metabolites and transcripts data sets already give some insights into other salt tolerance mechanisms used by this species to support high levels of salinity stress. | Vivianny Nayse Belo Silva Thalliton Luiz Carvalho da Silva Thalita Massaro Malheiros Ferreira Jorge Candido Rodrigues Neto AndréPereira Leão JoséAntônio de Aquino Ribeiro Patrícia Verardi Abdelnur Leonardo Fonseca Valadares Carlos Antônio Ferreira de Sousa Manoel Teixeira Souza Júnior | 2023 | Phenomics2023,3,1: | 0 |
| 15 | Conversion of Rapid Prototyping Models into Metallic Tools by Ceramic Moulding—an Indirect Rapid Tooling Process显示文摘A process to convert models made by rapid prototypi ng techniques like SL (stereolitography) and LOM (laminated object manufacturing) or by conventional techniques (silicones, resins, wax, etc.) into metallic mould s or tools has been developed. The main purpose of this technique is to rapidly obtain the first prototypes of parts, for plastics injection, forging or any oth er manufacturing process using the tools produced by casting a metal into a cera mic mould. Briefly, it can be said that the ceramic moulds are produced by mixing in variab le proportions, depending on the type of ceramics employed, strength and roughne ss desired, a ceramic mixture composed by alumina and/or zirconium silicates bon ded with silica coming from a liquid binder, based on ethyl silicate. A catalyst is added to the slurry in order to produce a sol-gel reaction. The liquid slur ry is poured into the box containing the mould to be reproduced. After a short p eriod of time, controlled by the amount of gelling agent, the ceramic mixture ac quires a rubber consistency. The pattern is removed from the ceramic mould, whic h is fired to stop the gelation reaction. After this stabilization the ceramic m ould is sintered at high temperatures in order to generate an inert mould wi th the desired strength in which almost all metallic alloys can be cast.
