	1	A disease-relevant mutation of SPOP highlights functional significance of ATM-mediated DNA damage response显示文摘Dear Editor,Accumulating evidence supports that,as a critical genome guardian mechanism,the DNA damage response(DDR)is a barrier to early tumorigenesis.As a crucial DDR pathway,Ataxia Telangiectasia Mutated(ATM)-mediated phosphorylation of downstream targets is essential for activation of cell cycle checkpoints,DNA repair,and programed cell death in the presence of DNA damage.Despite extensive biochemical and cellular studies on ATM phosphorylation,these phosphorylation sites are rarely mutated in cancers,challenging the pathophysio-logical relevance of ATM-mediated phosphorylation in the disease setting.
