| 1 | Graphene-based membranes for molecular and ionic separations in aqueous environments显示文摘Graphene-based laminar materials open up to new applications for molecular and ionic separations in aqueous environments due to the atomic thickness, mechanical strength, chemical stability and other fantastic properties.Recent advances on controlling the structure and chemical functionality of graphene-based membranes can potentially lead to new classes of tools for desalination, dehydration, toxicant rejection, specific ionic separation and so on. The recent developments of graphene-based membranes prepared by using a concept to form interlayer space between graphene sheets and creating nanoscale or sub-nanoscale pores in a graphene lattice, together with their mass-transfer mechanisms and potential applications in aqueous environments are reviewed. | 3 | Genetic and Antibiotic Resistance Characteristics ofCampylobacterjejuni Isolated from Diarrheal Patients,Poultry and Cattle in Shenzhen显示文摘Objective To investigate genetic and antibiotic resistance characteristics of Campylobacter jejuni(C. jejuni) isolated from Shenzhen. Methods Multilocs sequence typing and agar dilution methods were used to define the genotype and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni, respectively. Results In total, 126 C. jejuni strains were isolated. The prevalence of C. jejuni was 5.3% in diarrheal patients. The prevalence in poultry meat(36.5%) was higher than that in cattle meat(1.1%). However, the prevalence in poultry cloacal swabs(27.0%) was lower than that in cattle stool(57.3%). Sixty-two sequence types were obtained, among which 27 of the STs and 10 alleles were previously unreported. The most frequently observed clonal complexes were ST-21(11.9%), ST-22(10.3%), and ST-403(7.1%). ST-21, ST-45, ST-354, ST-403, and ST-443 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and cattle, whereas ST-45 and ST-574 complexes overlapped between isolates from patients and poultry. All C. jejuni were resistant to at least one antibiotic. The highest resistance rate was toward ciprofloxacin(89.7%), followed by tetracycline(74.6%), and nalidixic acid(69.0%). Conclusion This is the first report of the genotypes and antibiotic resistance of C. jejuni in Shenzhen. | 4 | Mineralization of flue gas CO_2 with coproduction of valuable magnesium carbonate by means of magnesium chloride显示文摘CO2 mineralization and utilization is a new area for reducing the CO2 emissions.By reacting with natural mineral or industrial waste,CO2 can be transformed into valuable solid carbonate(such as calcium carbonate or magnesium carbonate)with recovery of some products simultaneously.In this paper,a novel method was proposed to mineralize CO2 by means of magnesium chloride with small energy consumption.In this method,magnesium chloride was firstly transformed into magnesium hydroxide by electrolysis.The formed magnesium hydroxide showed high reactivity to mineralize CO2.In our study,even at low concentration,CO2 can be effectively mineralized by this method,which makes it possible to directly mineralize flue gas CO2,avoiding the expensive process of CO2capture and purification.Moreover,valuable products such as hydromagnesite and nesquehonite can be recovered by this method.Because of the wide distribution of magnesium chloride in nature,large-scale CO2mineralization is potential by means of magnesium chloride. | Heping Xie Yufei Wang Wei Chu Yang Ju | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,23: | 5 |
| 5 | An easily recoverable thermo-sensitive polyelectrolyte as draw agent for forward osmosis process显示文摘As a potential solution to the crises of energy and resources, forward osmosis(FO) has been limited by the development of draw agents. An ideal draw agent should be able to generate high osmotic pressure and can be easily recovered. In this study, a thermo-sensitive polyelectrolyte of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid)(PNA)is developed as an efficient draw agent, and two easy and simple methods are proposed to effectively recover the polyelectrolytes. After adjusting the pH value of polyelectrolyte solutions to around 6.0, the polyelectrolyte can generate relatively high osmotic pressure, and induce average water fluxes of 2.09 and 2.95 L·m^(-2)·h^(-1) during12 h FO processes when the polyelectrolyte concentrations are 0.20 and 0.38 g·ml^(-1) respectively. After acidifying and heating to 70 °C, the PNA-10 polyelectrolyte can aggregate together because of hydrophobic association and separate from water, so it can be easily recovered by either simple centrifugation or gravitational sedimentation. The recovery ratios of PNA-10 polyelectrolyte in both methods are as high as 89%, and the recovered polyelectrolytes can be reused with almost the same FO performance as fresh ones.
