| 5 | Interaction of HIV-1 fusion peptide and its mutant with lipid membrane显示文摘HIVWT and HIVV2E represent the 23 amino acids fusion peptide of HIV-1 gp41 N terminus and its position 2 mutant (Val→Glu). We have studied the structure-function relationship of HIVWT and HIVV2E when they interact with acidic and neutral lipid membranes. The results show that HIVWT and HIVV2E have the same conformational characteristics and tendencies of conformational transition but definitely different functions: HIVWT destabilizes membrane and induces fusion by adopting predominant α-helix conformation when interacting with acidic POPG membrane, its phenylalanine residues can penetrate into the hydrophobic core of POPG bilayer; HIVV2E also adopts predominant α-helix when interacting with POPG membrane, but it cannot destabilize POPG membrane and induce fusion, the phenylalanine residues of it are located near the surface of POPG bilayer. | 9 | Plasma exchange therapy for acute necrotizing encephalopathy of childhood显示文摘Importance Acute necrotizing encephalopathy(ANE)is a rare disease with high mortality.Plasma exchange(PLEX)has recently been reported to treat ANE of childhood(ANEC),but its efficacy is uncertain.Objective This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of PLEX on ANEC.Methods A retrospective study was conducted in four pediatric intensive care units from December 2014 to December 2020.All patients who were diagnosed with ANEC were included;however,these patients were excluded if their length of stay was less than 24 h.Participants were classified into PLEX and non-PLEX groups.Results Twenty-nine patients with ANEC were identified,10 in the PLEX group and 19 in the non-PLEX group.In the PLEX group,C-reactive protein,procalcitonin,alanine aminotransferase,and aspartate aminotransaminase levels were significantly lower after 3 days of treatment than before treatment(13.1 vs.8.0,P=0.043;9.8 vs.1.5,P=0.028;133.4 vs.31.9,P=0.028;282.4 vs.50.5,P=0.046,respectively).Nine patients(31.0%,9/29)died at discharge,and a significantly difference was found between the PLEX group and non-PLEX group[0 vs.47.4%(9/19),P=0.011].The median follow-up period was 27 months,and three patients were lost to follow-up.Thirteen patients(50.0%,13/26)died at the last follow-up,comprising three(33.3%,3/9)in the PLEX group and ten(58.8%,10/17)in the non-PLEX group,but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P=0.411).Three patients(10.3%,3/29)fully recovered.Interpretation PLEX may reduce serum C-reactive protein and procalcitonin levels and improve liver function in the short term.PLEX may improve the prognosis of ANEC,and further studies are needed. | Kechun Li Tao Zhang Gang Liu Ping Jin Yeqing Wang Lijie Wang Meixian Xu Chunyi Liu Yingchao Liu Tao Zhou Yan Xu Ying Yang Boliang Fang Xin Yang Chunfeng Liu Suyun Qian | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,2: | 0 |
| 10 | Evaluating the Effects of Aquaculture Wastewater Irrigation with Fertilizer Reduction on Greenhouse Tomato Production,Economic Benefits and Soil Nitrogen Characteristics显示文摘The utilization of aquaculture wastewater as irrigation is an effective way to recycle and reuse water and nitrogen fertilizer resources because it contains numerous nutrients.However,it is still unclear that the pattern of substituting aquaculture wastewater irrigation for fertilizer supplementing is conducive to improving the soil nitrogen status,fruit yield and water-fertilizer use efficiency for tomato production.In this context,the experiment was intended to establish the appropriate irrigation regime of aquaculture wastewater in tomato production for freshwater replacement and fertilizer reduction to ensure good yields.Pot experiments were conducted with treatments as farmers accustomed to irrigation and fertilization used as control(CK),1.75 L aquaculture wastewater with base fertilizer(W1),2 L aquaculture wastewater with base fertilizer;and 2.25 L aquaculture wastewater with base fertilizer(W3).We examined the effects of aquaculture wastewater irrigation on soil nitrogen distribution,Nrelated hydrolases,tomato yield,and economic benefits.The results showed that the control treatment had the highest N input,about 24.68%higher than the W3 treatment,while the yield was only about 7.81%higher than W3.This indicated that the overuse of chemical fertilizer was present in the current tomato production.Although the reduction of fertilizer in aquaculture wastewater irrigation caused a decrease in tomato production,this economic loss can be compensated by cost savings in the wastewater disposal.Among aquaculture wastewater treatments,the W3 treatment had the highest overall benefit,achieving 62.63%freshwater savings,37.50%fertilizer input reduction,and an economic return of approximately 19,466 Yuan per hectare higher than the control.Additionally,increasing the irrigation volume of aquaculture wastewater could provide more available nutrients to the soil,which were more prevalent in the form of organic nitrogen.The lower soil nitrate reductase activities(NR)under aquaculture wastewater treatments after harvesting also proved that this pattern was beneficial to reduce soil nitrate nitrogen residues.Overall,the results demonstrate that aquaculture wastewater irrigation alleviates the soil nitrate residues,improves nutrient availability,and results in more economic returns with water and fertilizer conservation for the greenhouse production of tomatoes. | Hang Guo Linxian Liao Zhenhao Zheng Junzeng Xu Qi Wei Peng Chen Kechun Wang | 2023 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2023,92,12: | 0 |
| 11 | Effect of Ab_(1-40) on membrane permeability and intracellular free Ca^(2+) of nerve cells显示文摘The effects of soluble and fibrillar Ab1-40 on membrane permeability and intracellular free Ca2+ of nerve cells were investigated by the laser confocal microscopy. Results indicate that: i) Effects of soluble and fibrillar Ab1-40 on cell membrane permeability are both concentration-de- pendent. Soluble Ab1-40 increases membrane permeability only at concentration of 3 mmol/L, while the toxic effect of fibrillar Ab1-40 is much stronger, its evident effect begins from 1 mmol/L. When its concentration rose to 3 mmol/L, not only the membrane permeability increased, but also the nuclear membrane broke seriously. ii) Both soluble and fibrillar Ab1-40 at high concentrations increased the intracellular free Ca2+, and the increased amplitudes are concentration-dependent. However, the fibrillar one induces the increase of intracellular Ca2+ much quicker and synchronously.
