| 3 | Counter-Rotating Type Tidal Stream Power Unit Boarded on Pillar(Performances and Flow Conditions of Tandem Propellers)显示文摘The authors have invented the unique counter-rotating type tidal stream power unit composed of the tandem propellers and the double rotational armature type peculiar generator without the traditional stator. The front and the rear propellers counter-drive the inner and the outer armatures of the peculiar generator, respectively. The unit has the fruitful advantages that not only the output is sufficiently higher without supplementary equipment such as a gearbox, but also the rotational moment hardly act on the pillar because the rotational torque of both propellers/armatures are counter-balanced in the unit. This paper discusses experimentally the performances of the power unit and the effects of the propeller rotation on the sea surface. The axial force acting on the pillar increases naturally with the increase of not only the stream velocity but also the drag of the tandem propellers. Besides, the force vertical to the stream also acts on the pillar, which is induced from the Karman vortex street and the dominant frequencies appear owing to the front and the rear propeller rotations. | 9 | Do Macroeconomic Determinants of Non-Performing Loans Vary with the Income Levels of Countries?显示文摘This paper explores the macroeconomic determinants of non-performing loans(NPL) in 19 Asian countries(low to high income economies) using the Generalized Method of Moments estimation approach based on the economic data for the period between 1998 and 2015. The categorization of the economies is based on the average gross national income per capita as set by the World Bank.Specifically, the paper aims to evaluate if the determinants of NPL vary with the income levels of the countries. The results indicate that the NPL is strongly influenced by the inflation rate. The effect is,however, negative in the high-income and the middle-income countries and positive in the low-income countries. The GDP per capita has a dynamic negative relationship with the NPL in the high-income and the low-income countries. The remittance has a significant positive association in the high-income and a significant negative association in the low-income countries. Similarly, the unemployment rate has a positive effect on NPL in the middle-income and the low-income countries. With the rise in the official exchange rate, the NPL level increases in the low-income countries. The overall estimation results suggest that the NPL in Asian banking system depend on some key macroeconomic variables,such as unemployment rate, inflation rate, official exchange rate, remittance received and gross domestic product per capita, and these associations vary with the income level of the countries. | 18 | Cointegration and Causality Relationship Between Stock Market,Money Market and Foreign Exchange Market in Pakistan显示文摘This paper examines the relationship between stock market(KSE-100), money market(M2 and 180 days T-bill rate), and foreign exchange market(ER: PKR/USD) in Pakistan by using monthly data covering the period from 2000:M1 to 2015:M12. The study investigates long-run equilibrium relationship between these three financial markets by employing Johansen and Juselius[1]cointegration tests. Long-run and short-run causality relationship between stock market and other macroeconomic variables is also established by employing vector error correction model(VECM) and pairwise granger causality tests. The results of multivariate cointegration test(trace test) indicate a one cointegrating vector, and the significant normalized cointegrating coefficients are evident of long run equilibrium relationship between all the selected variables. Negative and significant ECT(-1) for all variables during full sample period witness the presence of long-run causality connection among variables, while during the military regime and democratic regime, significant difference of long-run causal connections are identified across the regimes. Moreover, the results of granger causality test also indicate that there are significant variations in the causality relationship among variables across the regimes. | 20 | Comparisons of Supine Roll Test and Alternative Positional Tests in HC-BPPV Lateralization显示文摘Objective The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of the supine roll test(SRT)and alternative positional tests(APTs)including the bow and lean test(BLT),pseudo-spontaneous nystagmus(PSN),and lying down nystagmus(LDN)to identify the affected side in horizontal canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(HC-BPPV).Methods In our prospective study,we performed a testing profile(PSN,BLT,LDN,SRT)on 59 HC-BPPV patients using videonystagmography.We compared the accuracy and sensitivity of these tests in HC-BPPV lateralization.Data from 30 healthy patients were collected as the control group.Results When performing positional tests,the elicited nystagmus coinciding with Ewald’s second law was defined as a“positive response”.In 44 patients with geotropic nystagmus,the rates of positive response in LDN,PSN,and BLT were 22/44(50%),19/44(43%),and 18/44(41%),respectively,while in 15 patients with apogeotropic nystagmus,the positive response rates of these three tests were 10/15(66.7%),9/15(60%),and 4/15(27.00%),respectively.The sensitivity of LDN(54.38%)was higher than that of PSN(47.37%)and BLT(38.60%)but lower than that of SRT(89.47%).Notably,the accuracy rate of PSN(71.8%)was higher than that of the other APTs.In 6 patients with symmetrical nysgtamus during the roll test,5 patients showed a positive response in both LDN and BLT(83.34%),whereas 4 patients showed a positive response in PSN(66.67%).Conclusion All positional tests are helpful for determining the affected side of HC-BPPV,but SRT carries the highest accuracy of lateralization followed by PSN. | Geeta KOJU Dan BING Liang-qiang ZHOU Zhong-yao MAO Yan-ling TAO Qing-guo CHEN Jin CHEN Yun LIU Ting TONG Han-qi CHU | 2022 | Current Medical Science2022，42，3： | 0 |
