| 5 | Deep-learning-based gas identification by timevariant illumination of a single micro-LEDembedded gas sensor显示文摘Electronic nose(e-nose)technology for selectively identifying a target gas through chemoresistive sensors has gained much attention for various applications,such as smart factory and personal health monitoring.To overcome the crossreactivity problem of chemoresistive sensors to various gas species,herein,we propose a novel sensing strategy based on a single micro-LED(μLED)-embedded photoactivated(μLP)gas sensor,utilizing the time-variant illumination for identifying the species and concentrations of various target gases.A fast-changing pseudorandom voltage input is applied to the μLED to generate forced transient sensor responses.A deep neural network is employed to analyze the obtained complex transient signals for gas detection and concentration estimation.The proposed sensor system achieves high classification(~96.99%)and quantification(mean absolute percentage error~31.99%)accuracies for various toxic gases(methanol,ethanol,acetone,and nitrogen dioxide)with a single gas sensor consuming 0.53 mW.The proposed method may significantly improve the efficiency of e-nose technology in terms of cost,space,and power consumption. | Incheol Cho Kichul Lee Young Chul Sim Jae-Seok Jeong Minkyu Cho Heechan Jung Mingu Kang Yong-Hoon Cho Seung Chul Ha Kuk-Jin Yoon Inkyu Park | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,5: | 1 |

| 19 | Ruptured splenic artery aneurysms in pregnancy and usefulness of endovascular treatment in selective patients:A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND The rupture of a splenic artery aneurysm(SAA)in pregnancy is an uncommon condition.However,it is associated with high mortality rates in pregnant women and fetuses even after surgical treatment.Though the endovascular treatment of SAAs is currently preferred as it can improve the outcomes even in emergent cases,the endovascular treatment of a ruptured SAA during pregnancy has not been reported until date.CASE SUMMARY We report a case of a 33-year-old woman with the sudden onset of epigastric pain due to a ruptured SAA at the mid-portion of the splenic artery at 18 wk of pregnancy.After emergent initial resuscitation,the patient was diagnosed with a ruptured SAA through digital angiography.Immediately upon diagnosis,she underwent emergent endovascular embolization of the splenic artery for the rupture on the spot.Next,surgery was performed to remove the hematoma under stable conditions.Although the fetus was found to be dead during resuscitation,the woman recovered without complications and was discharged 15 d postoperatively.CONCLUSION Endovascular treatment might be a valuable alternative to surgery/lead to safer surgery for selected pregnant patients with ruptured SAAs. | Sang Hun Lee Songsoo Yang Inkyu Park Yeong Cheol Im Gyu Yeol Kim | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,25: | 0 |
| 20 | Inferior outcomes of liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma during early-COVID-19 pandemic in the United States显示文摘BACKGROUND Early in the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,there was a significant impact on routine medical care in the United States,including in fields of transplantation and oncology.AIM To analyze the impact and outcomes of early COVID-19 pandemic on liver transplantation(LT)for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in the United States.METHODS WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic on March 11,2020.We retrospectively analyzed data from the United Network for Organ Sharing(UNOS)database regarding adult LT with confirmed HCC on explant in 2019 and 2020.We defined pre-COVID period from March 11 to September 11,2019,and early-COVID period as from March 11 to September 11,2020.RESULTS Overall,23.5%fewer LT for HCC were performed during the COVID period(518 vs 675,P<0.05).This decrease was most pronounced in the months of March-April 2020 with a rebound in numbers seen from May-July 2020.Among LT recipients for HCC,concurrent diagnosis of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis significantly increased(23 vs 16%)and alcoholic liver disease(ALD)significantly decreased(18 vs 22%)during the COVID period.Recipient age,gender,BMI,and MELD score were statistically similar between two groups,while waiting list time decreased during the COVID period(279 days vs 300 days,P=0.041).Among pathological characteristics of HCC,vascular invasion was more prominent during COVID period(P<0.01),while other features were the same.While the donor age and other characteristics remained same,the distance between donor and recipient hospitals was significantly increased(P<0.01)and donor risk index was significantly higher(1.68 vs 1.59,P<0.01)during COVID period.Among outcomes,90-day overall and graft survival were the same,but 180-day overall and graft were significantly inferior during COVID period(94.7 vs 97.0%,P=0.048).On multivariable Coxhazard regression analysis,COVID period emerged as a significant risk factor of post-transplant mortality(Hazard ratio 1.85;95%CI:1.28-2.68,P=0.001).CONCLUSION During COVID period,there was a significant decrease in LTs performed for HCC.While early postoperative outcomes of LT for HCC were same,the overall and graft survival of LTs for HCC after 180 days were significantly inferior. | Inkyu S Lee Kenji Okumura Ryosuke Misawa Hiroshi Sogawa Gregory Veillette Devon John Thomas Diflo Seigo Nishida Abhay Dhand | 2023 | World Journal of Hepatology2023,15,4: | 0 |
