1Use of Biochar as an Amendment for Remediation of Heavy Metal-Contaminated Soils:Prospects and Challenges显示文摘Biochar(BC), known as the new black gold, is a stable, novel carbonaceous by-product that is synthesized through pyrolysis of biological materials in the absence of O_2.Recently, an emerging interest in the application of BC as a robust soil amendment has given rise to a broad research area in science and technology.It is considered a promising remediation option for heavy metal(HM)-contaminated soils to reduce HM bioavailability to plants.Remediation efficacy of BC depends on the porosity, composition,pyrolysis temperature, feedstock, and residence time of pyrolysis.This review article aimed to present an overview of BC use in the immobilization of HMs, i.e., Cd, As, Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu, Mn, Cr, and Sb, in contaminated soils.The remaining uncertain factors, including the specific soil HM immobilization mechanisms, long-term beneficial effects, and potential environmental risks associated with BC application are analyzed.Future research must be conducted to ensure that the management of environmental pollution is in accord with ecological sustainability and adaptation of the black gold biotechnology on a commercial basis for immobilization of HMs in contaminated soils.Altaf Hussain LAHORI GUO Zhanyu ZHANG Zengqiang LI Ronghua Amanullah MAHAR Mukesh Kumar AWASTHI SHEN Feng Tanveer Ali SIAL Farhana KUMBHAR WANG Ping JIANG Shuncheng 2017Pedosphere2017,27,6:28
2Shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle underneath the Tianshan orogenic belt显示文摘From April, 2003 to September, 2004, a passive broadband seismic array consisting of 60 stations was deployed over the Tianshan orogenic belt by State Key Laboratory of Earthquake Dynamics, Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration. Among them, 51 stations make up an about 500-km-long profile across the Tianshan Mountains from Kuytun to Kuqa. The receiver function profile and S-wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle down to 100 km deep are obtained by using the re-ceiver function method (Liu et al. 1996, 2000). The main results can be summarized as follows: (1) A clear mountain root does not exist beneath the Tianshan Mountains, and the crust-mantle boundaries underneath the stations mostly have transitional structures. This implies that the material differentia-tion between the crust and mantle is not yet accomplished and the orogenic process is still going on. (2) The crust beneath the Tianshan Mountains has laterally blocked structures in direction perpendicular to the mountain strike, and the crust-mantle boundary has a clear dislocation structure. Both of them correspond to each other. (3) The offsets of the Moho discontinuity are highly correlated to the tectonic borders on the surface and that corresponding to the frontal southern Tianshan fault reaches to 14 km. This manifests that large vertical divergent movement took place between different blocks. This sup-ports the discontinuous model of the Tianshan orogeny, and the Tarim block subduction is restricted only to the southern side of the South Tianshan. (4) Inside the upper and middle crust of the Tianshan Mountains exist several low-velocity bodies correlated with high seismicity located on the moun-tain-basin jointures on both sides of the mountain and between different blocks, and the low-velocity bodies on the mountain-basin jointures are inclined obviously to the mountain. 3Crustal structure beneath the Qilian Orogen Zone from multiscale seismic tomography显示文摘The Qilian Orogen Zone(QOZ), located in the north margin of the Tibetan Plateau, is the key area for understanding the deformation and dynamics process of Tibet. Numerous geological and geophysical studies have been carried out on the mechanics of the Tibetan Plateau deformation and uplift; however, the detailed structure and deformation style of the Qilian Orogen Zone have remained uncertain due to poor geophysical data coverage and limited resolution power of inversion algorithms. In this study, we analyze the P-wave velocity structure beneath the Qilian Orogen Zone, obtained by applying multi-scale seismic tomography technique to P-wave arrival time data recorded by regional seismic networks. The seismic tomography algorithm used in this study employs sparsity constraints on the wavelet representation of the velocity model via L1-norm regularization. This algorithm can deal efficiently with uneven-sampled volumes, and can obtain multi-scale images of the velocity model. Our results can be summarized as follows:(1) The crustal velocity structure is strongly inhomogeneous and consistent with the surface geological setting. Significant low-velocity anomalies exist in the crust of northeastern Tibet, and slight high-velocity anomalies exist beneath the Qaidam Basin and Alxa terrane.(2)The Qilian Orogen Zone can be divided into two main parts by the Laji Shan Faults: the northwestern part with a low-velocity feature, and the southeastern part with a high-velocity feature at the upper and middle crust.(3) Our tomographic images suggest that northwestern and southeastern Qilian Orogen Zones have undergone different tectonic processes. In the northwest Qilian Orogen Zone, the deformation and growth of the Northern Tibetan Plateau has extended to the Heli Shan and Beida Shan region by northward overthrusting at the upper crust and thickening in the lower crust. We speculate that in the southeast Qilian Orogen Zone the deformation and growth of the Northern Tibet Plateau were of strike-slip style at the upper crust; in the lower crust, the evidence suggests ductile shear extrusion style and active frontage extension to the Alxa terrane.(4) The multi-scale seismic tomography technique provides multiscale analysis and sparse constraints, which has allowed to us obtain stable, high-resolution results.Biao Guo JiuHui Chen QiYuan Liu ShunCheng Li 2019Earth and Planetary Physics2019,3,3:5
4Oxygen vacancy-engineered BaTiO_(3)nanoparticles for synergistic cancer photothermal,photodynamic,and catalytic therapy显示文摘With the rapid development of photo-responsive nanomaterials,photo-triggered therapeutic strategies such as photothermal therapy(PTT)and photodynamic therapy(PDT)have been new alternatives to current cancer therapeutic methods.Herein,we have fabricated oxygen vacancy-engineered BaTiO_(3)(BTO-Ov)nanoparticles(NPs)for near-infrared(NIR)light-triggered PTT,PDT,and catalytic therapy cooperatively for significantly improving cancer therapy.Compared to pristine BaTiO_(3)nanoparticles,BTO-Ov has stronger NIR light absorption and narrower band gap structure,which results in superior photothermal conversion and superoxide radical generation capabilities through PTT and PDT.Meanwhile,due to the existence of Ti^(3+),BTO-Ov also exhibits peroxidase(POD)-like activity to produce hydroxyl radical under tumor environment,which can be further improved under 808 nm light irradiation.Both in vitro and in vivo results demonstrate that such a multifunctional therapeutic nanoplatform can achieve a high therapeutic efficacy triggered by a single NIR light irradiation.The defect engineering strategy can be used as a general approach to fabricate multifunctional cancer therapeutic nanoplatform.Yiming Ding Zhuo Wang Zeyu Zhang Yunchao Zhao Shangyu Yang Yalong Zhang Shuncheng Yao Shaobo Wang Tian Huang Yang Zhang Linlin Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,8:3
5Recent Progress in Nanoscale Covalent Organic Frameworks for Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy显示文摘Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)as a type of porous and crystalline covalent organic polymer are built up from covalently linked and periodically arranged organic molecules.Their precise assembly,welldefined coordination network,and tunable porosity endow COFs with diverse characteristics such as low density,high crystallinity,porous structure,and large specific-surface area,as well as versatile functions and active sites that can be tuned at molecular and atomic level.These unique properties make them excellent candidate materials for biomedical applications,such as drug delivery,diagnostic imaging,and disease therapy.To realize these functions,the components,dimensions,and guest molecule loading into COFs have a great influence on their performance in various applications.In this review,we first introduce the influence of dimensions,building blocks,and synthetic conditions on the chemical stability,pore structure,and chemical interaction with guest molecules of COFs.Next,the applications of COFs in cancer diagnosis and therapy are summarized.Finally,some challenges for COFs in cancer therapy are noted and the problems to be solved in the future are proposed.Shuncheng Yao Zhirong Liu Linlin Li 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11:1

7Metformin capped Cu_(2)(OH)_(3)Cl nanosheets for chemodynamic wound disinfection显示文摘Recently,the development of chemodynamic therapy(CDT)offers a potential approach for fighting bacteria and treating infectious diseases,in which those CDT nanoagents can catalyze the generation of hydroxyl radicals(·OH)to destroy bacteria.In this work,to improve the efficiency of CDT,we have designed a new kind of metformin(Met)-capped two-dimensional Cu_(2)(OH)_(3)Cl nanosheets(CuOHCl-Met NSs)with good monodispersity,highly positive charge,and good biocompatibility for improving antibacterial effect and accelerating wound healing.With the capped Met,CuOHCl-Met NSs can effectively kill bacteria under a low concentration(6μg·mL^(−1))and a short treatment time(in 15 min),showing great advantages over the counterpart without Met.In vivo results demonstrated that CuOHCl-Met NSs accelerated the tissue regeneration of staphylococcus aureus-infected dermal wounds.This study provides a new pathway for improving efficiency of CDT nanoagent through using old drug.Xueyu Wang Shaobo Wang Jiao Gao Shuncheng Yao Teng Xu Yunchao Zhao Zeyu Zhang Tian Huang Shu Yan Linlin Li 2023Nano Research2023,16,3:0

12Comparing kernel damage of different threshing components using high-speed cameras显示文摘Grain damage research has been a focus of many experts in the agriculture machinery industry.A threshing test-bed was developed to investigate the movement and influence of different threshing and separating units on maize grains.The damage to maize grains was analyzed with a high-speed camera to observe the movement and damage received by the maize grains.The results showed that the threshing and separating effects of the perforated concave plate were obviously lower than that of the round steel concave plate,the threshing effects of the rigid rasp bar and polyurethane rasp bar were similar,and the damage ratio of the polyurethane rasp bar was relatively low.It also indicated that moisture content has a significant effect on the damage ratio and damage type of maize grains.The different threshing component types used in this study had an obvious effect on the degree of damage to high moisture content maize grains and the damage to high-moisture kernels during threshing could be further identified.The results can provide a reference for the design of threshing and separating devices in the maize combine harvesting machinery.Zheng Ma Min Han Yaoming Li Shuncheng Yu Farman Ali Chandio 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,6:0

The laser cooling of relativistic C3+ ion beams at the experimental coolerstorage ring (CSRe) is being currently prepared at Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) in Lanzhou. An electroncyclotron resonance ion source (ECRIS) will be used to produce C3+ ion beams. Meanwhile, O4+ ions could alsobe produced due to residual gas because of the same mass-to-charge ratio. Therefore, both C3+ and O4+ ion beamswill be injected and circulate in a storage ring during the laser cooling experiment at the same time. 18Self-powered electrochemical water treatment system for pollutant degradation and bacterial inactivation based on high-efficient Co(OH)_(2)/Pt electrocatalyst显示文摘Electrochemical system with electro-Fenton reaction is an effective pathway for oxidative degradation of refractory organic pollutants for water treatment.However,the method is limited by the low catalytic efficiency and high electrical cost in practical applications.This work presents a self-powered and high-efficient electrochemical system for water treatment including pollutant degradation and bacterial inactivation,which is composed of a self-powered triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)converting mechanical energy into electrical energy,a power management circuit integrated with a supercapacitor to store the harvesting electrical energy temporarily,and an electrochemical setup integrated with two-dimentional Co(OH)_(2)/Pt nanosheet as electrocatalyst.The nanocatalyst,ultrafine Pt nanoparticles(Pt NPs)loaded on Co(OH)_(2) nanosheet(Co(OH)_(2)/Pt),is synthesized by a facile one step hydrothermal reaction without any surfactant,which can improve H_(2)O_(2)and hydroxyl radical production via redox reaction.This self-powered electrocatalytic system is able to degrade nearly 100%of organic pollutant within 100 min,and efficiently kill bacteria.This work shows great potential to develop high-efficient and self-powered electrochemical water treatment system through integrating TENG and nanocatalyst.Zhuo Wang Xi Liang Zhirong Liu Tian Huang Shaobo Wang Shuncheng Yao Yiming Ding Jiaming Zhang Xingyi Wan Zhong Lin Wang Linlin Li 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:0
