| 1 | Ozone source attribution during a severe photochemical smog episode in Beijing,China显示文摘Beijing,the capital of China,frequently suffers from the high levels of ozone in summer.A 3-D regional chemical transport model,the Comprehensive Air Quality Model with extensions(CAMx),has been used to simulate a heavy O3 pollution episode in Beijing during June 26―July 2,2000.Ozone Source Apportionment Technology(OSAT) and Geographic Ozone Assessment Technology(GOAT) were applied to quantify the contributions of the precursor emissions from different regions to O3 concentrations in Beijing,to identify the relative importance of different ways by which regional sources affected the O3 levels in Beijing urban areas,and to investigate the sensitivity of O3 formation to the precursors during the episode.The O3 pollution in Beijing showed a significant spatial distribution with strong regional contribution.The results suggested that the plume originating from Beijing urban areas greatly affected the O3 concentrations at the Dingling site,accounting for 55% of elevated O3 there,while O3 pollution in the Beijing urban areas resulted from both local emissions and those from Tianjin and the south of Hebei Province.Transport of O3 was responsible for about 70% of the regional O3 contribution to Beijing urban areas,while transport of O3 precursors accounted for the remainder.The formation of O3 was limited by volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in the urban areas of Beijing,while being more sensitive to NOx levels in the suburban and more remote areas.Therefore,it is necessary to consider a large number of factors,including impacts of emissions from different regions,the two modes of regional contribution as well as the sensitivity of O3 formation to precursors,in the design of emissions control strategies for O3 reduction in Beijing. | WANG XueSong LI JinLong ZHANG YuanHang XIE ShaoDong TANG XiaoYan | 2009 | Science China Chemistry2009,52,8: | 32 |
| 2 | Micro-Doppler characteristics of sliding-type scattering center on rotationally symmetric target显示文摘The feature of micro-motion is one of the most effective features used for radar recognition in midcourse phase.At present,the study of feature extraction and recognition is usually based on the assumption that the micro-motion of the scattering center and warhead itself is the same,and the radar echo is sinusoid-FM signal.However,this assumption ignores the fact that the scattering center would slide on the warhead with the change of the aspect angle.In this paper,a complete micro-motion model is set for the scattering centers of different positions on the warhead,and the mathematical expression of the micro-Doppler of the sliding-type scattering center is obtained for the first time.The approximation of Taylor expansion under the background of missile confrontation is studied subsequently.The curve of this micro-Doppler is not the generally assumed sinusoid.Dynamic measurement of a precessional target in microwave anechoic chamber is done to vividly observe the sliding feature of the scattering center.The measurement results agree with the theoretic analysis in this paper.This research on micro-Doppler characteristics of sliding-type scattering center provides a more accurate model for the micro-motion simulation and feature extraction of precessional warheads. | MA Liang LIU Jin WANG Tao LI YongZhen WANG XueSong | 2011 | Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,9: | 24 |
| 3 | Evaluation and intercomparison of ozone simulations by Models-3/CMAQ and CAMx over the Pearl River Delta显示文摘Ozone pollution over the Pearl River Delta (PRD) in October 2004 has been simulated using the regional air quality models Models-3/CMAQ and CAMx. The results from both models were evaluated and compared with the observed concentrations from 12 monitoring stations. By integrated process rate analysis, the influences of different physical and chemical processes were quantified, and the causes of the deviations between the two models were investigated. Both CMAQ and CAMx repro- duced the magnitudes and variations of ozone at most stations over the PRD. The correlation coefficients (R) between the sim- ulated results and monitoring data were 0.73 for CMAQ and 0.74 for CAMx. The normalized mean bias (NMB) for CMAQ and CAMx over the 12 sites was ?8.5% and 8.8% on average, respectively. The normalized mean error (NME) for CMAQ and CAMx was 36.7% and 37.9%, respectively. The correlation between the results of two models was very high (R = 0.92), and their simulated ozone spatial distributions exhibited common features. But the values obtained using CMAQ simulation were about 17% lower than those obtained using CAMx on average. The results of simulations using the two models were not identical in certain regions, or for different types of monitoring stations. The differences in dry deposition, reaction parameters and vertical transport near the Pearl River Estuary can account for the discrepancies in the results obtained using the two models. In the upwind areas, the discrepancy in the boundary concentration of the finest nest was the main cause of the higher values obtained using CAMx compared with those obtained using CMAQ. There is a need for CAMx to provide more choices of dry deposition algo- rithms. | 8 | An innovative integrated system utilizing solar energy as power for the treatment of decentralized wastewater显示文摘This article reports an innovative integrated system utilizing solar energy as power for decentralized wastewater treatment, which consists of an oxidation ditch with double channels and a photovoltaic (PV) system without a storage battery. Because the system operates without a storage battery, which can reduce the cost of the PV system, the solar radiation intensity affects the amount of power output from the PV system. To ensure that the power output is sufficient in all different weather conditions, the solar radiation intensity of 78 W/m 2 with 95% confidence interval was defined as a threshold of power output for the PV system according to the monitoring results in this study, and a step power output mode was used to utilize the solar energy as well as possible. The oxidation ditch driven by the PV system without storage battery ran during the day and stopped at night. Therefore, anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic conditions could periodically appear in the oxidation ditch, which was favorable to nitrogen and phosphate removal from the wastewater. | 9 | Efficient BoPDS Gene Editing in Cabbage by the CRISPR/Cas9 System显示文摘Genome editing offers great advantages in identifying gene function and generating agronomically important mutations in crops. Here,we report that the genome of cabbage(Brassica oleracea var. capitata), an important cruciferous vegetable, can also be precisely edited by a CRISPR/Cas9 system stacked with multiple single-guide RNA-expressing cassettes. When the phytoene desaturase Bo PDS gene was used as the target gene, an albino-phenotype transgenic shoot in T0 Basta-resistant lines was observed, and 37.5% of the transgenic cabbage shoots carried Bo PDS gene mutations as a result of nucleotide deletions at the expected position. Moreover, mutations were detected in sites with the same target sequence in gene Bol016089 which is paralogous to the Bo PDS gene. | 10 | Influence of Vehicle Parameters on Critical Hunting Speed Based on Ruzicka Model显示文摘While introducing foreign advanced technology and cooperating with Chinese famous research institutes,the high-speed vehicles are designed and take the major task of passenger transport in China.In high-speed vehicle,the characteristic of shock absorber is an important parameter which determines overall behavior of the vehicle.The most existing researches neglect the influence of the series stiffness of the shock absorber on the vehicle dynamic behavior and have one-sided views on the equivalent conicity of wheel tread.In this paper,a high speed passenger vehicle in China is modeled to investigate the effect of the parameters taking series hydraulic shock absorber stiffness into consideration on Ruzicka model.Using the vehicle dynamic model,the effect of main suspension parameters on critical speed is studied.In order to verify the reasonableness of shock absorber parameter settings,vibration isolation characteristics are calculated and the relationship between suspension parameters and the vehicle critical hunting speed is studied.To study the influence of equivalent conicity on vehicle dynamic behavior,a series of wheel treads with different conicities are set and the vehicle critical hunting speeds with different wheel treads are calculated.The discipline between the equivalent conicity of wheel tread and critical speed are obtained in vehicle nonlinear system.The research results show that the critical speed of vehicle much depends on wheelset positioning stiffness and anti-hunting motion damper,and the series stiffness produces notable effect on the vehicle dynamic behavior.The critical speed has a peak value with the equivalent conicity increasing,which is different from the traditional opinion in which the critical speed will decrease with the conicity increasing.The relationship between critical speed and conicity of wheel tread is effected by the suspension parameters of the vehicle.The study results obtained offer a method and useful data to designing the parameters of the high speed vehicle and simulation study. | CUI Dabin LI Li JIN Xuesong XIAO Xinbiao DING Junjun | 2012 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,3: | 12 |

| 12 | Removal of airborne microorganisms emitted from a wastewater treatment oxidation ditch by adsorption on activated carbon显示文摘Bioaerosol emissions from wastewater and wastewater treatment processes are a significant subgroup of atmospheric aerosols. Most previous work has focused on the evaluation of their biological risks. In this study, however, the adsorption method was applied to reduce airborne microorganisms generated from a pilot scale wastewater treatment facility with oxidation ditch. Results showed adsorption on granule activated carbon (GAC) was an efficient method for the purification of airborne microorganisms. The GAC itself had a maximum adsorption capacity of 2217 CFU/g for airborne bacteria and 225 CFU/g for fungi with a flow rate of 1.50 m 3 /hr. Over 85% of airborne bacteria and fungi emitted from the oxidation ditch were adsorbed within 80 hr of continuous operation mode. Most of them had a particle size of 0.65-4.7 μm. Those airborne microorganisms with small particle size were apt to be adsorbed. The SEM/EDAX, BET and Boehm's titration methods were applied to analyse the physicochemical characteristics of the GAC. Relationships between GAC surface characteristics and its adsorption performance demonstrated that porous structure, large surface area, and hydrophobicity rendered GAC an effective absorber of airborne microorganisms. Two regenerate methods, ultraviolet irradiation and high pressure vapor, were compared for the regeneration of used activated carbon. High pressure vapor was an effective technique as it totally destroyed the microorganisms adhered to the activated carbon. | 14 | Investigation into the Vibration of Metro Bogies Induced by Rail Corrugation显示文摘The current research of rail corrugation mainly focuses on the mechanisms of its formation and development. Compared with the root causes and development mechanisms, the wheel–rail impacts, the fatigue failure of vehicle-track parts, and the loss of ride comfort due to rail corrugation should also be taken into account. However, the influences of rail corrugation on vehicle and track vibration, and failure of vehicle and track structural parts are barely discussed in the literature. This paper presents an experimental and numerical investigation of the structural vibration of metro bogies caused by rail corrugation. Extensive experiments are conducted to investigate the effects of short-pitch rail corrugation on the vibration accelerations of metro bogies. A dynamic model of a metro vehicle coupled with a concrete track is established to study the influence of rail corrugation on the structural vibration of metro bogies. The field test results indicate that the short-pitch rail corrugation generates strong vibrations on the axle-boxes and the bogie frames, therefore, accelerates the fatigue failure of the bogie components. The numerical results show that short-pitch rail corrugation may largely reduce the fatigue life of the coil spring, and improving the damping value of the primary vertical dampers is likely to reduce the strong vibration induced by short-pitch rail corrugation. One advantage of this method is that the two orthogonal polarized signals do not have to be perpendicular to each other, which is required by traditional methods. The error due to the correlation of the two transmitting signals in the traditional method, can be reduced by this new approach. A concept called ambiguity function matrix (AFM) is introduced based on this method. AFM is a promising tool for the signal selection and design in the polarization scattering matrix measurement. The waveforms of the polarimetric radar are categorized and analyzed based on AFM in this paper. The signal processing flow of this method is explained. And the polarization scattering matrix measurement performance is testified by simulation. | 17 | CRISPR/Cas9-mediated multiple gene editing in Brassica oleracea var.capitata using the endogenous tRNA-processing system显示文摘Cabbage(Brassica oleracea var.capitata)is a biennial plant with strong self-incompatibility and an obligate requirement for prolonged vernalization by exposure to low temperatures to induce flowering.These characteristics significantly increase the difficulty of exploiting novel germplasm induced by physical or chemical mutagens.In this study,we report a CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing system based on endogenous tRNA processing to induce high efficiency and inheritable mutagenesis in cabbage.Using the phytoene desaturase gene BoPDS,the S-receptor kinase gene BoSRK,and the male-sterility-associated gene BoMS1 as the target genes,multisite and multiple gene mutations were achieved using a construct with tandemly arrayed tRNA-sgRNA architecture to express multiple sgRNAs.The BoSRK3 gene mutation suppressed self-incompatibility completely,converting the self-incompatible line into a self-compatible line.In addition,the BoMS1 gene mutation produced a completely male-sterile mutant,which was highly cross compatible with its nonmutant isoline at the flowering stage as a result of a simultaneous BoSRK3 gene mutation,enabling the economic propagation of the male-sterile line through bee-mediated cross-pollination.Interestingly,higher site mutation efficiency was detected when a guide sequence was inserted into a location in the tandemly arrayed tRNA-sgRNA architecture that was distal from the upstream Pol III promoter.In addition,mutation sites were also detected in the paralogous genes of the BoPDS and BoSRK genes that had fully consistent sequences or base mismatches but beyond the“seed”region in the spacer sequence compared with the target sgRNAs.Collectively,our results demonstrate that the CRISPR/Cas9 system,coupled with an endogenous tRNA-processing system,is an efficient tool to improve cabbage traits. | Cunfa Ma Chenzeng Zhu Min Zheng Mengci Liu Dejun Zhang Baoli Liu Qinfei Li Jun Si Xuesong Ren Hongyuan Song | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 8 |

| 19 | Synthesis of Isotopically-Labeled Graphite Films by Cold-Wall Chemical Vapor Deposition and Electronic Properties of Graphene Obtained from Such Films显示文摘We report the synthesis of isotopically-labeled graphite films on nickel substrates by using cold-wall chemical vapor deposition(CVD).During the synthesis,carbon from^(12)C-and^(13)C-methane was deposited on,and dissolved in,a nickel foil at high temperature,and a uniform graphite film was segregated from the nickel surface by cooling the sample to room temperature.Scanning and transmission electron microscopy,micro-Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray diffraction prove the presence of a graphite film.Monolayer graphene films obtained from such isotopically-labeled graphite films by mechanical methods have electron mobility values greater than 5000 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1)at low temperatures.Furthermore,such films exhibit the half-integer quantum Hall effect over a wide temperature range from 2 K to 200 K,implying that the graphite grown by this cold-wall CVD approach has a quality as high as highly oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG).The results from transport measurements indicate that^(13)C-labeling does not significantly affect the electrical transport properties of graphene. | Weiwei Cai Richard D.Piner Yanwu Zhu Xuesong Li Zhenbing Tan Herman Carlo Floresca Changli Yang Li Lu M.J.Kim Rodney S.Ruoff | 2009 | Nano Research2009,2,11: | 7 |
| 20 | Mulberry leaf flavonoids protect against glucotoxicity-induced INS-1 cell apoptosis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of mulberry leaf flavonoids (MLF) on apoptosis of pancreatic cells induced by high glucose.METHODS:Long exposure to high glucose induces apoptosis of pancreaticβcells, which can lead to diabetes. In this study, we used the rat insulinoma cell line, INS-1. High glucose (33.3 mM) was used to establish a glucotoxicity model. The MTT assay was used to evaluate the MLF effect on cell viability.INS-1 cells were treated with various concentra-tions of MLF (125, 250 and 500 mg/L) for 24 h, and then stimulated with 5.5 or 33.3 mM glucose for 48 h.Then, the cell supernatants were collected for enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to determine the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase(CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), malondialdehyde (MDA), monocyte chemoattractant protein1 (MCP-1), tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α) and interleukin 6 (IL-6). Western blotting was used to determine the expression of Bcl-2, Bax, caspase-3 and Caspase-9. Cell apoptosis was measured by Annexin V-FITC/propidium iodide double staining and flow cytometry.RESULTS:MLF (125-500 mg/L) improved cell viability. Furthermore, MLF (250 and 500 mg/L) inhibited apoptosis induced by high glucose. The anti-apoptosis effect of MLF was associated with increased SOD, CAT and GSH-Px expression, as well as reduced MDA levels in high-glucose-treated INS-1cells. Moreover, MLF upregulated Bcl-2 expression,downregulated Bax expression, and reduced the expression of caspase-3 and Caspase-9.
