1AUDITORY BRAINSTEM RESPONSES IN SENILE PRESBYCUSIS PATIENTS OVER 90 YEARS显示文摘Objective To analyze the characteristics of auditory brainstem response(ABR) in presbycusis patients elder than 90 years. Methods Fourteen presbycusis patients elder than 90 years(presbycusis group, 91.1.4±1.3 years, 26 ears) and 9 normal-hearing young adults(control group, 22.7±1.2 years, 18 ears) participated in the study. Alternative click-evoked ABRs were recorded in both groups. The peak latency(PL) of peak I,Ⅲ, and V, and the inter-peak latency(IPI) of I-Ⅲ, Ⅲ-V, and I-V were compared between groups. Results In elder presbycusis patients, the occurrence rate of peak I and Ⅲ were both 76.9%, and that of peak V was84.6%. In presbycusis group, the peak latencies of I, Ⅲ, V were significantly longer than that of control group(P<0.001). There was no significant difference between groups in the IPI of peak I-I Ⅲ(P=0.298,peak Ⅲ-V(P=0.254) and peak I-V(P=0.364). 2High-precision Calibration of Camera and IMU on Manipulator for Bio-inspired Robotic System显示文摘Inspired by box jellyfish that has distributed and complementary perceptive system,we seek to equip manipulator with a camera and an Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU)to perceive ego motion and surrounding unstructured environment.Before robot perception,a reliable and high-precision calibration between camera,IMU and manipulator is a critical prerequisite.This paper introduces a novel calibration system.First,we seek to correlate the spatial relationship between the sensing units and manipulator in a joint framework.Second,the manipulator moving trajectory is elaborately designed in a spiral pattern that enables full excitations on yaw-pitch-roll rotations and x-y-z translations in a repeatable and consistent manner.The calibration has been evaluated on our collected visual inertial-manipulator dataset.The systematic comparisons and analysis indicate the consistency,precision and effectiveness of our proposed calibration method.Yinlong Zhang Wei Liang Sichao Zhang Xudong Yuan Xiaofang Xia Jindong Tan Zhibo Pang 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,2:0
3Modified intratympanic steroid therapy for sudden sensorineural hearing loss via tympanic tube and gelfoam as a salvage treatment显示文摘Background: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL) is a prevalent emergency in ear, nose, and throat practice. Previous studies have demonstrated that intratympanic steroid therapy(IST) can serve as a salvage treatment for SSNHL after the failure of systemic steroid therapy(SST).Objective: This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of modified IST involving the insertion of a tympanic tube and gelfoam as a salvage treatment for patients with SSNHL, and to explore its associated factors.Methods: Totally, 74 patients who were aged 22–81 years with SSNHL were enrolled and allocated to either the control group(n = 25) or the treatment group(n = 49) based on their treatment modalities. All patients received SST lasting for at least 7 days. Subsequently, patients in the treatment group, after SST failure, underwent IST twice a week for 2–6 weeks, while the control group did not. Efficacy was assessed by the improvement in pure tone average at the affected frequency at the beginning and end of IST.Results: Hearing improvement in all patients after IST in the treatment group was 9.71 ± 14.84 dB, with significant improvement at affected frequencies(250-8000 Hz) compared with the control group(P < 0.05). The findings indicated the duration from the onset of SSNHL to the beginning of IST as an independent factor for pure tone average improvement after treatment(P = 0.002), whereas age, duration of SST, and time of IST were not(P > 0.05).Conclusion: The modified IST was demonstrated to be a safe and effective method as a salvage treatment for SSNHL. This study explored the efficacy of a modified IST approach, incorporating the utilization of tympanic tubes and gelfoam as key components. The findings underscore the advantages of gelfoam as a strategic drug carrier placed in the round window niche.
