| 1 | Neuronal apoptosis in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion area following electrical stimulation of fastigial nucleus显示文摘Previous studies have indicated that electrical stimulation of the cerebellar fastigial nucleus in rats may reduce brain infarct size, increase the expression of Ku70 in cerebral ischemia/ reperfusion area, and decrease the number of apoptotic neurons. However, the anti-apoptotic mechanism of Ku70 remains unclear. In this study, fastigial nucleus stimulation was given to rats 24, 48, and 72 hours before cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Results from the electrical stimulation group revealed that rats exhibited a reduction in brain infarct size, a significant increase in the expression of Ku70 in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion regions, and a decreased number of terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)-positive cells. Double immunofluorescence staining revealed no co-localization of Ku70 with TUNEL-positive cells. However, Ku70 partly co-localized with Bax protein in the cytoplasm of rats with cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. | 2 | Chemical characterization of size-resolved aerosols in four seasons and hazy days in the megacity Beijing of China显示文摘Size-resolved aerosol samples were collected by MOUDI in four seasons in 2007 in Beijing. The PM10 and PM1.8mass concentrations were 166.0 ± 120.5 and 91.6 ± 69.7 μg/m^3, respectively,throughout the measurement, with seasonal variation: nearly two times higher in autumn than in summer and spring. Serious fine particle pollution occurred in winter with the PM1.8/PM10 ratio of 0.63, which was higher than other seasons. The size distribution of PM showed obvious seasonal and diurnal variation, with a smaller fine mode peak in spring and in the daytime. OM(organic matter = 1.6 × OC(organic carbon)) and SIA(secondary inorganic aerosol) were major components of fine particles, while OM, SIA and Ca_2+were major components in coarse particles. Moreover, secondary components, mainly SOA(secondary organic aerosol) and SIA,accounted for 46%–96% of each size bin in fine particles, which meant that secondary pollution existed all year. Sulfates and nitrates, primarily in the form of(NH_4)_2SO_4, NH_4NO_3, Ca SO_4, Na_2SO_4 and K_2SO_4, calculated by the model ISORROPIA II, were major components of the solid phase in fine particles. The PM concentration and size distribution were similar in the four seasons on non-haze days, while large differences occurred on haze days, which indicated seasonal variation of PM concentration and size distribution were dominated by haze days. | 3 | Trends of Extreme Precipitation in Eastern China and Their Possible Causes显示文摘Significant increases of heavy precipitation and decreases of light precipitation have been reported over widespread regions of the globe. Global warming and effects of anthropogenic aerosols have both been proposed as possible causes of these changes. We examine data from urban and rural meteorological stations in eastern China(1955–2011) and compare them with Global Precipitation Climatology Project(GPCP) data(1979–2007) and reanalysis data in various latitude zones to study changes in precipitation extremes. Significant decreases in light precipitation and increases in heavy precipitation are found at both rural and urban stations, as well as low latitudes over the ocean, while total precipitation shows little change.Characteristics of these changes and changes in the equatorial zone and other latitudes suggest that global warming rather than aerosol effects is the primary cause of the changes. In eastern China, increases of annual total dry days(28 days) and 10 consecutive dry days(36%) are due to the decrease in light precipitation days, thereby establishing a causal link among global warming, changes in precipitation extremes, and higher meteorological risk of floods and droughts. | 4 | Biogenic production of DMSP and its degradation to DMS—their roles in the global sulfur cycle显示文摘Dimethyl sulfide(DMS) is the most abundant form of volatile sulfur in Earth’s oceans, and is mainly produced by the enzymatic clevage of dimethylsulfoniopropionate(DMSP). DMS and DMSP play important roles in driving the global sulfur cycle and may affect climate. DMSP is proposed to serve as an osmolyte, a grazing deterrent, a signaling molecule, an antioxidant, a cryoprotectant and/or as a sink for excess sulfur. It was long believed that only marine eukaryotes such as phytoplankton produce DMSP. However, we recently discovered that marine heterotrophic bacteria can also produce DMSP, making them a potentially important source of DMSP. At present, one prokaryotic and two eukaryotic DMSP synthesis enzymes have been identified.Marine heterotrophic bacteria are likely the major degraders of DMSP, using two known pathways: demethylation and cleavage.Many phytoplankton and some fungi can also cleave DMSP. So far seven different prokaryotic and one eukaryotic DMSP lyases have been identified. | 5 | Evidence of Oil Sources and Migration in Triassic-Jurassic Reservoirs in the South Tianhuan Depression of the Ordos Basin, China Based on Analysis of Biomarkers and Nitrogen-Bearing Compounds显示文摘The Ordos Basin is an important intracontinental sedimentary basin in western China for its abundant Mesozoic crude oil resources. The southern part of the Tianhuan Depression is located in the southwestern marginal area of this Basin, in which the Jurassic and Triassic Chang-3 are the main oil-bearing strata. Currently, no consensus has been reached regarding oil source and oil migration in the area, and an assessment of oil accumulation patterns is thus challenging. In this paper, the oil source, migration direction, charging site and migration pathways are investigated through analysis of pyrrolic nitrogen compounds and hydrocarbon biomarkers. Oil source correlations show that the oils trapped in the Jurassic and Chang-3 reservoirs were derived from the Triassic Chang-7 source rocks. The Jurassic and Chang-3 crude oils both underwent distinct vertical migration from deep to shallow strata, indicating that the oils generated by Chang-7 source rocks may have migrated upward to the shallower Chang-3 and Jurassic strata under abnormally high pressures, to accumulate along the sand bodies of the ancient rivers and the unconformity surface. The charging direction of the Jurassic and Chang-3 crude oils is primarily derived from Mubo, Chenhao, and Shangliyuan, which are located northeast of the southern Tianhuan Depression, with oils moving toward the west, southwest, and south. | 10 | Effect of Multi-Pass Equal Channel Angular Pressing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Heterogeneous Mg_(88)Y_8Zn_4 Alloy显示文摘The microstructure evolutions and mechanical properties of a heterogeneous Mg88Y8Zn4(in at.%) alloy during multi-pass equal channel angular pressing(ECAP) were systematically investigated in this work.The results show that four phases,i.e.α-Mg,18 R long period stacking ordered(LPSO) phase,Mg24Y5 and Y-rich phase,are present in cast alloy.During ECAP,dynamic recrystallization(DRX) occurs and the diameter of DRXedα-Mg grains decreases to 0.8 μm.Moreover,precipitation of lamellar 14 H LPSO structure is developed withinα-Mg phase.Both the refinement of α-Mg grains and precipitation of 14 H LPSO contribute to the increase in micro-hardness from 98 HV to 135 HV for α-Mg.In addition,a simplified model describing the evolution of 18 R LPSO phase is established,which illustrates that 18 R undergoes a four-step morphological evolution with increasing strains during ECAP,i.e.original lath → bent lath → cracked lath → smaller particles.Compression test results indicate that the alloy has been markedly strengthened after multi-pass ECAP,and the main reason for the significantly enhanced mechanical properties could be ascribed to the DRXed α-Mg grains,newly precipitated 14 H lamellas,18 R kinking and refined 18 R particles. | Huan Liu Zhaojun Cheng Kai Yan Jingli Yan Jing Bai Jinghua Jiang Aibin Ma | 2016 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2016,32,12: | 4 |

| 12 | Hydrochemistry and H-O-C-S Isotopic Geochemistry Characteristics of Geothermal Water in Nyemo-Nagqu,Tibet显示文摘Nyemo-Nagqu, Tibet, is rich in high-temperature geothermal resources. The geothermal fields in Yangbajain and Yangyi as well as 11 unexplored geothermal fields along the geothermal belt from Nyemo to Nagqu were systematically investigated and the hydrochemistry data were collected from the whole field. Meanwhile, H-O-C-S isotope data were obtained for the new fields, and H-O isotope data for the Yangbajain and Yangyi fields. A comparison of the Nyemo-Nagqu geothermal fields with those in the Yangbajain area shows that the types of high-temperature geothermal water are dominated by Cl-Na and Cl·HCO_3-Na, while the types of medium-high-temperature geothermal water are dominated by HCO_3-Na. The concentrations of Li, F, SiO_2, and HBO_2 in the geothermal water are positively correlated with Cl content, indicating possible mixing with magma water. The reservoir temperatures range from 90 to 270°C by geothermometers. Slight drifting of ^(18)O was recorded at the Dongweng and Nyingzhong high-temperature geothermal fields, while more significant drifting was recorded at Gulu. The geothermal water is mainly replenished by atmospheric precipitation. The low tritium contents(<1 TU) of the geothermal water from Nyingzhong, Gulu, and Luoma indicate that it is mainly replenished by sub-modern(prior to 1952) water, while the high tritium content(8.4 TU) in Yuela implies modern water replenishment. Other geothermal fields are replenished by a mix of sub-modern fresher water. | 13 | Transcriptome analysis of purple pigment formation in Colocasia esculenta显示文摘Taro(Colocasia esculenta(L.)Schott)is an important crop in Africa,Southeast Asia,and subtropics and is used as a food and medicine.The purple color pigmentation is an appealing character in taro.We sampled taro corms of the cultivar‘Lipu Taro’at four developmental stages,including LPYS1(without purple pigment,50 days of development(DOD)),LPYS2(very few purple pigments,75 DOD),LPYS3(moderate purple pigments,115 DOD)and LPYS4(high purple pigments,205 DOD).The purpose of our study was to identify the key genes underpinning the purple pigmentation in taro based on RNA-sequencing.Through RNA-Seq,6453 differentially expressed transcripts(DETs)were identified between purple and non-purple pigmented samples.We identified 41 and 12 flavonoid and anthocyanin related DETs transcripts,respectively.These DETs were upregulated at LPYS2,LPYS3,and LPYS4 as compared to LPYS1,indicating their positive contribution to the color formation in taro.Moreover,we identified several DETs encoding for transcription factors,including MYB and bHLH,known to be major regulators of structural genes involved in the flavonoid-anthocyanin pathway.Finally,we reported several plant hormones(ethylene,auxin,gibberellin,jasmonic acid,and cytokinin)related DETs,which are predicted to play important roles in the corm coloration.Different regulation of transcripts representing the flavonoid-anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway,plant hormone transduction pathway,and transcription factors may have key roles in purple pigmentation in taro.Our findings will facilitate future research on improving the quality and appeal of taro. | FANGLIAN HE WEIQING DONG SHAOLONG WEI ZUYANG QIU JINGLI HUANG HUIPING JIANG SHIYU HUANG LILI LIU | 2021 | BIOCELL2021,45,3: | 2 |
| 14 | Ericoid mycorrhizal fungus enhances microcutting rooting of Rhododendron fortunei and subsequent growth显示文摘Adventitious root(AR)formation is a unique feature of plant reproduction and plays a vital role in crop production as many horticultural and forestry plants are propagated through cuttings.A growing number of reports have shown that microbes,particularly mycorrhizal fungi are able to promote AR formation,but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unclear.This study established an in vitro culture system and investigated AR formation in microcuttings of Rhododendron fortunei Lindl.inoculated with Oidiodendron maius Barron Om19,an ericoid mycorrhizal fungus strain.Hormones and precursors involved in the biosynthesis of indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)in Om19 mycelium were analyzed.Om19 was able to produce a large quantity of tryptophan(Trp)and also indole-3-pyruvate(IPA)and IAA,indicating that IAA biosynthesis in Om19 could be through a Trp-dependent pathway.After inoculation of Om19,ARs were quickly formed in microcuttings.Symbiosis related genes were activated in ARs,and Om19 effectively colonized the roots.YUC3,a key gene in plant biosynthesis of IAA and genes involved in nitrogen(N)uptake and metabolism,phosphorus(P)uptake were highly upregulated.Plants absorbed significantly greater quantity of mineral nutrients,and their growth was substantially enhanced compared to the control plants without Om19 inoculation.A working model for Om19 enhanced AR formation was proposed.The rapid formation of ARs in cuttings could be due in part to the induction of IAA biosynthesized by Om19 and also attributed to Trp catalyzed biosynthesis of IAA in plants.AR formation,in turn,provided Om19 preferred sites for colonization.Our study suggested that in addition to promoting AR formation,Om19 could potentially be used as a new biofertilizer for enhancing production of ericaceous plants,such as blueberry,cranberry,and rhododendron. | Xiangying Wei Jianjun Chen Chunying Zhang Hong Liu Xiuxia Zheng Jingli Mu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 17 | Clinical significance of TOAST typing of ischemic stroke in young adults显示文摘BACKGROUND: Ischemic stroke in young adults brings extremely hurts for their families and society, and the etiological factors and risk factors are different in the world. OBJECTIVE: To analyze and evaluate clinical significance of ischemic stroke in young adults by using TOAST typing. DESIGN: Case analysis. SETTING: Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Guangxi Medical University. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 64 young adults with acute ischemic stroke were selected from the Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Guangxi Medical University from September 2005 to June 2006. There were 44 males and 20 females and their age ranged from 15 to 45 years. All patients met with the diagnostic criteria of the Fourth National Cerebrovarscular Academic Meeting and certainly diagnosed with CT or MRI examination. In addition, all patients provided the confirmed consent. METHODS: ① TOAST typing: Based on X-ray of thoracic part, electrocardiography, blood routine, blood glucose, electrolure, lipid, blood coagulation test, anticardiolipin antibody, antinuclear antibody, anti-double chain DNA, antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody, crook agglutination test, syphilis antibody and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibody test, patients received TOAST typing, including large-artery atherosclerotic stroke (LA), small-artery occlusion lacunar (SA), cardioembolism (CE), stroke of other demonstrated etiology (SOE), and stroke of other undemonstrated etiology (SUE). ② Risk factors: Stages of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipemia, smoking and drinking of patients were observed. Blood pressure was measured twice after onset of acute stroke, and values of total cholesterol (TC) and/or triacylglycerol (TG) were measured more than twice to finally diagnose hyperlipemia. Diagnostic criteria of diabetes mellitus: fasting ≥ 7.0 mmol/L; 2 hours after administrating glucose ≥ 11.1 mmol/L. Risk factor of smoking defined as more than 10 smokes every day in the last year or last several years. Wile, drinking defined as more than twice every weak. Hyperlipemia was measured for twice at least. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: TOAST typing and risk factors. RESULTS: All 64 accepted patients were involved in the final analysis. ① TOAST typing: CA counted for 22%, SA for 33%, CE for 19%, SOE for 16%, and SUE for 11%. Among them, percentage of SA was the highest, and there was statistically significance (P < 0.01). ② Analysis of risk factors: Numbers of smoking and drinking were 19 (43%) and 15 (34%) respectively in the males, which was more than those in the females (0, 0, P < 0.01). In addition, numbers of hypertension was more in the females than those in the males 15 (75%), 20 (45%), P < 0.05. | 20 | Interstitial copper-doped edge contact for n-type carrier transport in black phosphorus显示文摘Black phosphorus(BP)has been shown as a promising two-dimensional(2D)material for electronic devices owing to its high carrier mobility.To realize complementary electronic circuits with 2D materials,it is important to fabricate both n-type and p-type transistors with the same channel material.By engineering the contact region with copper(Cu)-doped BP,here we demonstrate an n-type carrier transport in BP field-effect transistors(FETs),which usually exhibit strongly p-type characteristics.Cu metal atoms are found to severely penetrate into the BP flakes,which forms interstitial Cu(Cuint)-doped edge contact and facilitates the electron transport in BP.Our BP FETs in backgated configuration exhibit n-type dominant characteristics with a high electron mobility of^138 cm^2 V^−1 s^−1 at room temperature.The Schottky barrier height for electrons is relatively low because of the edge contact between Cuint-doped BP and pristine BP channel.The contact doping of BP by highly mobile Cu atoms gives rise to n-type transport property of BP FETs.Furthermore,we demonstrate a p-n junction on the same BP flake with asymmetric contact.This strategy on contact engineering can be further extended to other 2D materials. | Ziyuan Lin Jingli Wang Xuyun Guo Jiewei Chen Chao Xu Mingqiang Liu Bilu Liu Ye Zhu Yang Chai | 2019 | InfoMat2019,1,2: | 2 |
