1An ethnobotanical study of forage plants in Zhuxi County in the Qinba mountainous area of central China显示文摘In the Qinba mountainous area of Central China,pig farming has a significant impact on the growth of the rural economy and has substantially increased farmer incomes.Traditional knowledge plays an important role in the selection of forage plant species for pig farming by local people.This study aimed to identify the forage plants used for pig feeding and to catalog indigenous knowledge regarding their use.During 2016 and 2017,ethnobotanical surveys and inventories were conducted in Zhuxi County,Hubei Province,China.Data were collected using semi-structured interviews,key informant reports,free listings,guided field walks,and participatory observations with 77 households in 16 villages in 13 towns/townships.The obtained data were analyzed using a relative frequency citation(RFC)index.Overall,145 wild forage plants from 91 genera and 31 families were recorded.The most cited families were Asteraceae,Polygonaceae,Urticaceae,Amaranthaceae,Fabaceae,Cruciferae,Caryophyllaceae,and Lamiaceae.Whole plants(75.9%)and tender leaves(12.4%)were the most frequently used parts of the plants.Most of the forage plants were herbaceous(88.9%).Almost all forage plants could be collected throughout the year(62.7%).Raw and cooked were the two main preparation methods.The most frequently cited species were Taraxacum mongolicum,Bidens pilosa,Sonchus oleraceus,Pilea verrucosa,and Pilea pumila var.obtusifolia.A total of 14 species were identified as the top forage plants in Zhuxi County based on their RFC values(RFC value greater than 0.5).Local people possess rich traditional knowledge about the utilization and management of forage plants for pig feeding.However,the maintenance of this traditional knowledge may be seriously threatened by changes in pig feeding modes and the lack of successors.Appropriate strategies and action plans have been suggested for the conservation of traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity and the sustainable use of forage species resources.These include 1)taking targeted measures to protect forage resources and associated traditional knowledge;2)strengthening research on the forage plants with the highest RFC values for nutritional value,digestibility,other functions,and ecological status;and 3)enhancing the identification of poisonous forage plants.Jun Yang Jifeng Luo Qiliang Gan Leiyu Ke Fengming Zhang Hairu Guo Fuwei Zhao Yuehu Wang 2021Plant Diversity2021,43,3:3

3Particle Sizes and Antibacterial Activity of Radix Astragalus and Radix Isatidis Ultrafine Powders显示文摘Using 9200 laser particle size analyzer and KYKY-2800 scanning electron microscope,particle sizes and cellular morphology of Radix Astragalus and Radix Isatidis ultrafine powders were observed. According to the results,the particle size of 89.1% of Radix Astragalus ultrafine powders ranged from 1.729 μm to 44. 938 μm,D_(50)=4.368 μm; t he particle size of 93.411% of Radix Isatidis ultrafine powders ranged from 1. 510 μm to 44. 938 μm,D50= 8.726 μm. Radix Astragalus and Radix Isatidis ultrafine powders were pulverized completely without intact cellular morphology. The antibacterial activity of Radix Astragalus and Radix Isatidis ultrafine powders against chicken-derived E. coli(O78) w as investigated. The results indicated that Radix Astragalus and Radix Isatidis ultrafine powders exhibited higher antibacterial activity against chicken-derived E. coli(O78) c ompared with the corresponding coarse powders. 4Linkages of volatile fatty acids and polyhexamethylene guanidine stress during sludge fermentation:Metagenomic insights of microbial metabolic traits and adaptation显示文摘The massive use of polyhexamethylene guanidine(PHMG),as a typical bactericidal agent,raised environmental concerns to the public.This work comprehensively revealed the hormesis effects of PHMG occurred in waste activated sludge(WAS)on the generation of volatile fatty acids(VFAs)during anaerobic fermentation.The low level of PHMG(100 mg/g TSS)significantly promoted the VFAs generation(1283 mg COD/L,compared with 337 mg COD/L in the control)via synchronously facilitating the solubilization,hydrolysis,and acidification steps but inhibiting methanogenesis.Metagenomic analysis showed that the functional anaerobe(i.e.,Bacteroides,Macellibacteroide and Parabacteroide)and corresponding genetic expressions responsible for extracellular hydrolysis(i.e.,clp P),membrane transport(i.e.,ffh and gsp F),intracellular substrates metabolism(i.e.,ald and paa F)and VFAs biosynthesis(i.e.,ACACA and FASN)were enhanced in the optimal presence of PHMG.Moreover,the anaerobic species could respond and adapt to low PHMG stimuli via quorum sensing(i.e.,cqs A,rpf C and rpf G),and thus maintain the high microbial metabolic activities.However,they were unable to tolerate the toxicity of excessive PHMG,resulting in the extremely low VFAs production.This work enlightened the effects of emerging pollutants on WAS fermentation at the genetic levels,and provided guidance on the WAS treatment and resource recovery.Feng Wang Wei Du Wenxuan Huang Shiyu Fang Xiaoshi Cheng Leiyu Feng Jiashun Cao Jingyang Luo Yang Wu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,6:1
5A new drainage tube device显示文摘Objective:Drainage tubes(e.g.,intracranial,abdominal cavity and thoracic)are commonly used to drain blood and fluid collections after surgery.It usually fails due to the lack of fixation perpendicular to the skin and the variety of tube materials.The objective of the article is to describe a new drainage tube device.Methods:This new device consists of a drainage tube fixator and diverter with a rotating handle.The fixator and diverter are fixed to the skin with a pair of wings,and the base comprises acircular arc with chamfering of the edge.The removable stopper and plastic diverter have a memory function.There are 2 holes on either side of the wings,by which they can be sewn to the skin or stapled for strength and stability.Results:The removable limiting stopper and plastic diverter with memory function work together to ensure that the drainage tube is firmly fixed.Therefore,the tube will not move either vertically or horizontally on the skin.Moreover,the device is fit for drainage tubes with different specifications and materials.Conclusions:The limiting stopper can be moved easily,which is conducive to local skin disinfection around the drainage tube.The device deserves clinical promotion.Chao He Ming Zhao Dong Yang Tianya Wu Leiyu Qiu 2016Translational Neuroscience and Clinics2016,2,1:0
6Characterization and quantification of two acylated flavonol glycosides from Camellia sinensis and their antibacterial effect on oral pathogens显示文摘Acylated flavonol glycosides(AFGs)are a new group of flavonoids with multiple pharmacological functions.In the present work,two AFGs were isolated with a combined chromatography technology from Camellia sinensis and identified as quercetin tetraglycosides with one p-coumaryl moiety(F1)and kaempferol tetraglycosides with one p-coumaryl moiety(F2)by ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).F1 and F2 with high purity and quantity can be obtained through relatively simple steps,which is of great significance in industrial production and application.The quantification of two AFGs in different tea cultivars and different season samples was conducted using the high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method.Among fifty tested tea cultivars,the contents of F1 and F2 were extremely high in'Zhenghe Dabaicha'and'Wannong 95',but these were undetectable in some tea cultivars.Relatively high contents of AFGs were found in autumn harvested tea samples which might be related to sunlight irradiation.Further in vitro experiments showed that F1 and F2 monomers were effective on inhibiting growth and biofilm development of Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum.This antibacterial activity was proven to involve the chelation of iron.These results provide useful information on AFGsrich tea resources and new insights of AFGs into effective agents against oral diseases.Feifei Zhou Leiyu Yang Yingjie Gu Zhiwei Ge Yanmei Huang Hangye Zhao Bo Li Puming He Jiangfan Yang Youying Tu Yuanyuan Wu 2022Beverage Plant Research2022,2,1:0
7Data mining-based model and risk prediction of colorectal cancer by using secondary health data:A systematic review显示文摘Objective:Prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer(CRC)can increase the chances of successful treatment and reduce burden.Various data mining technologies have been utilized to strengthen the early detection of CRC in primary care.Evidence synthesis on the model’s effectiveness is scant.This systematic review synthesizes studies that examine the effect of data mining on improving risk prediction of CRC.Methods:The PRISMA framework guided the conduct of this study.We obtained papers via Pub Med,Cochrane Library,EMBASE and Google Scholar.Quality appraisal was performed using Downs and Black’s quality checklist.To evaluate the performance of included models,the values of specificity and sensitivity were comparted,the values of area under the curve(AUC)were plotted,and the median of overall AUC of included studies was computed.Results:A total of 316 studies were reviewed for full text.Seven articles were included.Included studies implement techniques including artificial neural networks,Bayesian networks and decision trees.Six articles reported the overall model accuracy.Overall,the median AUC is 0.8243[interquartile range(IQR):0.8050-0.8886].In the two articles that reported comparison results with traditional models,the data mining method performed better than the traditional models,with the best AUC improvement of 10.7%.Conclusions:The adoption of data mining technologies for CRC detection is at an early stage.Limited numbers of included articles and heterogeneity of those studies implied that more rigorous research is expected to further investigate the techniques’effects.Hailun Liang Lei Yang Lei Tao Leiyu Shi Wuyang Yang Jiawei Bai Da Zheng Ning Wang Jiafu Ji 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,2:0
8Water Changes and Sources of Siling Co Using Landsat and GRACE Data since 1972显示文摘The inland lakes on the Tibetan Plateau(TP)are undergoing significant changes due to their sensitivity to climate.The largest lake in Tibet,Siling Co,has expanded most dramatically during recent decades.Using Landsat,GRACE and meteorological data,the expansion of Siling Co was detailed in four stages and the process was further explained.The results show that the lake area increased from 1647.30 km^(2)in 1972 to 2438.99 km^(2)in 2020.It experienced a slow growth at a rate 6.03 km^(2)/yr from 1972 to 1988,while fluctuating at 1.44 km^(2)/yr during 1989–1997,then accelerated at 60.28 km^(2)/yr between 1998 and 2005,and expanded slowly again at 11.40 km^(2)/yr since 2006.The continued expansion led to its merger with nearby Yagain Co in 2003.Terrestrial water storage(TWS)increase was also observed from GRACE(0.65 cm/yr),with about 0.75 coefficient of determination between the TWS and lake area during 2002–2020.The long-term expansion of Siling Co is related to the increasing trends of temperature and precipitation,but their contributions vary with time span.Specifically,the accelerated stage between 1998 and 2005 can be explained by the increased temperature and precipitation accompanied by a drop in evaporation,while the slow expansion since 2006 was due to the decrease in precipitation and temperature and the rise in evaporation.There is no obvious mass loss of glaciers revealed by GRACE during 2002–2020,which may be related to the negative trend of the temperature.Furthermore,the precipitation may still make a major contribution in this phase,as its average is about 93.9 mm higher than that in 1988–1997.Chuya Wang Yuande Yang Fei Li Junhao Wang Leiyu Li Huiting Yu 2024Journal of Earth Science2024,35,2:0
