1Corrosion behavior of hypoeutectic Al-Cu alloys in H_2SO_4 and NaCl solutions显示文摘The aim of this work was to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour of hypoeutectic Al-Cu alloys immersed in two different solutions containing sulphate and chloride ions,respectively.The influence of Al2Cu associated to the dendritic arm spacing on the general corrosion resistance of such alloys is analysed.The typical microstruc-tural pattern was examined by using scanning electron microscope.The corrosion tests were performed in both 0.5 M sulphuric acid and 0.5 M NaCl solutions at 25°C by using an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)technique and potentio-dynamic polarization curves.Equivalent circuits by using the ZView software,were also used to provide quantitative support for the discussions.It was found that as the Cu content increased(i.e.,increasing the Al2Cu fraction),a higher susceptibility to the corrosion action in the NaCl solution is detected.In contrast,the tests carried out in the H2SO4 solution resulted in similar corrosion rates for the three di?erent hypoeutectic alloys.Wislei R.Osório Leandro C.Peixoto Leonardo R.Garcia Amauri Garcia 2009Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2009,22,4:3
2Imaging response predictors following drug eluting beads chemoembolization in the neoadjuvant liver transplant treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization(DEB-TACE)is an endovascular treatment to release chemotherapeutic agents within a target lesion,minimizing systemic exposure and adverse effects to chemotherapeutics.Therefore,identifying which patient characteristics may predict imaging response to DEB-TACE can improve treatment results while selecting the best candidates.Predictors of the response after DEB-TACE still have not been fully elucidated.This is the first prospective study performed with standardized DEBTACE technique that aim to identify predictors of radiological response,assessing patients clinical and laboratory characteristics,diagnostic imaging and intraprocedure data of the hepatocellular carcinoma treated in the neoadjuvant context for liver transplantation.AIM To identify pre-and intraoperative clinical and imaging predictors of the radiological response of drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization(DEB-TACE)for the neoadjuvant treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS This is prospective,cohort study,performed in a single transplant center,from 2011 to 2014.Consecutive patients with HCC considered for liver transplant who underwent DEB-TACE in the first session for downstaging or bridging purposes were recruited.Pre and post-chemoembolization imaging studies were performed by computed tomography or magnetic resonance.The radiological response of each individual HCC was evaluated by objective response using mRECIST and the percentage of necrosis.RESULTS Two hundred patients with 380 HCCs were examined.Analysis of the objective response(nodule-based analysis)demonstrated that HCC with pseudocapsules had a 2.01 times greater chance of being responders than those without pseudocapsules(P=0.01),and the addition of every 1mg of chemoembolic agent increased the chance of therapeutic response in 4%(P<0.001).Analysis of the percentage of necrosis through multiple linear regression revealed that the addition of each 1mg of the chemoembolic agent caused an average increase of 0.65%(P<0.001)in necrosis in the treated lesion,whereas the hepatocellular carcinoma with pseudocapsules presented 18.27%(P<0.001)increased necrosis compared to those without pseudocapsules.CONCLUSION The presence of a pseudocapsule and the addition of the amount of chemoembolic agent increases the chance of an objective response in hepatocellular carcinoma and increases the percentage of tumor necrosis following drug-eluting bead chemoembolization in the neoadjuvant treatment,prior to liver transplantation.Francisco Leonardo Galastri Felipe Nasser Breno Boueri Affonso Leonardo Guedes Moreira Valle Bruno Calazans Odísio Joaquim Mauricio Motta-Leal Filho Paolo Rogério Salvalaggio Rodrigo Gobbo Garcia Márcio Dias de Almeida Ronaldo Hueb Baroni Nelson Wolosker 2020World Journal of Hepatology2020,12,1:2

8Review on renal recovery after anatrophic nephrolithotomy:Are we really healing our patients?显示文摘The main goals for urinary stone treatment are to preserve renal function, reduce or avoid complications related to calculi, and to render the patient free of calculi as soon as possible. Anatrophic nephrolithotomy(ANL) is a valid and useful alternative for conventional staghorn calculi excision. Although excellent stone free rates can be achieved with ANL there are some drawbacks that may be of concern. Morbidity related to intraoperative and postoperative complications isone of them. Another, great concern is the possibility of reduction on renal function related to the procedure itself. This may be related to nephron injury during nephrotomy and parenchymal closure or to ischemic injury. 9Effects of environmental conditions and space on species turnover for three plant functional groups in Brazilian savannas显示文摘Aims Different plant functional groups display diverging responses to the same environmental gradients.Here,we assess the effects of environmental and spatial predictors on species turnover of three functional groups of Brazilian savannas(Cerrado)plants—trees,palms and lianas—across the transition zone between the Cerrado and Amazon biomes in central Brazil.Methods We used edaphic,climatic and plant composition data from nine one-hectare plots to assess the effects of the environment and space on species turnover using a Redundancy Analysis and Generalized Dissimilarity Modeling(GDM),associated with variance partitioning.Important Findings We recorded 167 tree species,5 palms and 4 liana species.Environmental variation was most important in explaining species turnover,relative to geographic distance,but the best predictors differed between functional groups:geographic distance and silt for lianas;silt for palms;geographic distance,temperature and elevation for trees.Geographic distances alone exerted little influence over species turnover for the three functional groups.The pure environmental variation explained most of the liana and palm turnover,while tree turnover was largely explained by the shared spatial and environmental contribution.The effects of geographic distance upon species turnover leveled off at about 300 km for trees,and 200 km for lianas,whereas they were unimportant for palm species turnover.Our results indicate that environmental factors that determine floristic composition and species turnover differ substantially between plant functional groups in savannas.Therefore,we recommend that studies that aim to investigate the role of environmental conditions in determining plant species turnover should examine plant functional groups separately.Hélio Menegat Divino Vicente Silvério Henrique A.Mews Guarino R.Colli Ana Clara Abadia Leonardo Maracahipes-Santos Lorrayne A.Gonçalves Jhany Martins Eddie Lenza 2019Journal of Plant Ecology2019,12,6:1
10How does Cariniana estrellensis respond to different irradiance levels?显示文摘Based on reports that variables related to photosynthesis(net assimilatory ratio and chloroplast pigments)are more plastic than the morphological and biochemical variables in a climax tropical species,Cariniana estrellensis,under contrasting irradiance,we hypothesised that plasticity of gas exchange variables is higher in relation to growth,biochemical and anatomical variables.Plants that were 14 months old were subjected to200 up to 2000 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) of photo synthetically active radiation(PAR)for 140 days.Growth increased up to1400 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1)PAR and then decreased at 2000 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) PAR(full sunlight).This was related to the rate of photosynthesis(A)which showed the same tendency as photosystem Ⅱ performance index(PI_(ABS)).The greater thickness of the secondary xylem at 1400 lmol m^(-2)s^(-1) PAR indicated a higher water conductance capacity.The decrease in specific leaf area,elongation of mesophyll cells,and increase in stomatal density observed at higher irradiances were associated with higher leaf fructose and sucrose concentrations.We concluded that the better growth in partial shade was due to higher photosynthetic capacity.On the other hand,photosynthesis was inhibited equally in full sun and deep shade.The high adjustment capacity of C.estrellensis to wide amplitudes of irradiance was provided by greater plasticity of gas exchange variables in relation to growth,anatomical,and biochemical variables.Flávia Carolina Santos Portela Bernardo Pretti Becacici Macieira Leonardo Valandro Zanetti Vinícius Novo Gama Diolina Moura Silva Camilla Rozindo Dias Milanez Geraldo Rogério Faustini Cuzzuol 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,1:0
11The Impact of Credit Ratings on Financial Performance (ROA) and Value Creation (Tobin’s Q)显示文摘This study employs a bibliometric and systematic approach to examine the impact of credit ratings as a measure of financial performance for companies listed in the S&P 500 index.The study identified a knowledge gap as only two researches were found,one suggesting and another using credit ratings to measure financial performance.Most researches use leverage,profitability,liquidity,and Share Return measures to explain financial performance.The empirical analysis uses the data of 2,398 observations of 240 companies rated by S&P Global Ratings for the period 2009-2013,applying a Generalized Method of Moments(GMM)methodology to estimate the models due to its ability to address potential endogeneity issues.The study considers Return on Assets(ROA)and Tobin’s Q as dependent variables.It incorporates credit ratings(CRWLTA)along with variables such as Total Debt to Total Assets(TDTA),Total Shareholder Return(TSR),EBITDA Interest coverage(EBITDAICOV),Quick Ratio(QR),Altman’s Z-Score(AZS),as well as macroeconomic factors like Gross Domestic Product(GDP)growth,inflation(Consumer Price Index-CPI),and the Federal Reserve Interest Rate(FDRI)as independent variables.The study argues that credit ratings,which incorporate historical data and confidential information about companies’strategies,provide reliable forward-looking creditworthiness assessments to the market.It is supported by specialized rating agencies that employ their methodologies.However,the findings suggested that CRWLTA,had a negative relationship with Q Tobin,although it was not statistically significant,and a negative relationship with ROA that was on the verge of significance.Nazário Augusto de Oliveira Leonardo Fernando Cruz Basso 2023Chinese Business Review2023,22,2:0
