1The characteristics of CO_2 assimilation of photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence in transgenic PEPC rice显示文摘With PEPC, PPDK, NADP-ME and PEPC+ PPDK transgenic and untransformed rice (Orysa sativa L.), the activities of related C4 photosynthesis enzymes, the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, CO2 exchange and other physiological indexes were compared, in which the physiological characteristics of PEPC transgenic rice were mainly studied. The results were as follows: (i) The activities of PEPC in PEPC transgenic rice were 20-fold higher than those in untransformed rice; the light-saturation photosynthetic rates and the carboxylation efficiency of PEPC transgenic rice were increased by 55% and 50% more than those of untransformed rice, respectively, while the CO2 compensation point decreased by 27%. 23′-Daidzein sulfonate sodium improves mitochondrial functions after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury显示文摘3′-Daidzein sulfonate sodium is a new synthetic water-soluble compound derived from daidzein(an active ingredient of the kudzu vine root). It has been shown to have a protective effect on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats. We plan to study the mechanism of its protective effect. 3′-Daidzein sulfonate sodium was injected in rats after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Results showed that 3′-daidzein sulfonate sodium significantly reduced mitochondrial swelling, significantly elevated the mitochondrial membrane potential, increased mitochondrial superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities, and decreased mitochondrial malondialdehyde levels. 3′-Daidzein sulfonate sodium improved the structural integrity of the blood-brain barrier and reduced blood-brain barrier permeability. 4Would integrated Western and traditional Chinese medicine have more benefits for stroke rehabilitation? A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background Stroke is a major cause of death or long-term disability worldwide.Many patients with stroke receive integrative therapy consisting of Western medicine(WM)and routine rehabilitation in conjunction with Chinese medicine(CM),such as acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.However,there is no available evidence on the effectiveness of the combined use of WM and CM interventions in stroke rehabilitation.Aims The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the results of all individual studies to assess the combined use of CM and WM in stroke rehabilitation compared with WM only.Methods The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines were followed.MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)were searched.The included outcomes were dependency,motor function,depression and swallowing function.Subgroup analysis was performed,and publication bias was assessed using funnel plots.Summary of review 58 studies and 6339 patients were included in the meta-analysis.Subgroup analysis revealed that combined therapy comprising both acupuncture and WM had a superior effect on improving dependency and swallowing function compared with standard WM therapy alone.Potential superiority of combined therapy comprising CM and WM in improving depression compared with standard WM therapy was also found.Conclusions Our results indicate that the combined use of CM and WM could be more efficacious in stroke rehabilitation compared with the use of WM therapy alone.However,most studies were short in duration(2 to 4 weeks)and prone to different types of biases,which prevents making any conclusion regarding the long-term effects and raises concerns regarding true efficacy in context of high likelihood of Hawthorn bias.So,more randomised controlled trials with more rigorous design and longer duration of treatment and follow-up need to be conducted to compare WM alone versus WM and CM combined.Linda LD Zhong Ya Zheng Alexander Y Lau Norman Wong Liang Yao Xingyao Wu Tengteng Shao Zhenxing Lu Huijuan Li Chun Sum Yuen Jianwen Guo Suzanne Lo Janita Chau Kam Wa Chan Bacon Fung Leung Ng Zhaoxiang Bian Edwin Chau-leung Yu 2022Stroke & Vascular Neurology2022,7,1:7

6Challenges and strategies in high-accuracy manufacturing of the world’s largest SiC aspheric mirror显示文摘In the process of manufacturing the world’s largest silicon carbide(SiC)aspheric mirror,the primary difficulties are mirror blank preparation,asphere fabrication,and testing,as well as cladding and coating.Specifically,the challenges include the homogeneity of the complicated structure casting,accuracy and efficiency of the fabrication process,print-through effect,fidelity and precision of test procedure,stress and denseness of cladding process,the dynamic range of interferometric measurement,and air turbulence error due to the long optical path.To break through such a barrier of difficulties,we proposed the water-soluble room temperature vanishing mold and gel casting technology,homogeneous microstructure reaction-formed joint technology,nano-accuracy efficient compound fabrication,gravity unloading technology,high-denseness low-defect physical vapor deposition(PVD)Si-cladding technology,test data fusion method,and time-domain averaging method,etc.Based on the proposed technologies and methods,we have accomplished the world’s largest SiC aspheric mirror with a size of φ4.03 m.The impressive performance of the SiC aspheric mirror is validated by the characteristics of the fabricated SiC aspheric mirror.The aerial density of the SiC blank is less than 120 kg/m^(2),surface shape test accuracy is better than 6 nm RMS,thickness inhomogeneity of the cladding layer is less than 5%,and the final surface figure error and roughness are 15.2 nm RMS and 0.8 nm RMS,respectively.Xuejun Zhang Haixiang Hu Xiaokun Wang Xiao Luo Ge Zhang Wenxing Zhao Xiaoyi Wang Zhenyu Liu Ling Xiong Erhui Qi Congcong Cui Yanchao Wang Yingjie Li Xu Wang Longxiang Li Yang Bai Qiang Cheng Zhiyu Zhang Ruigang Li Wa Tang Xuefeng Zeng Weijie Deng Feng Zhang 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,12:3
7Formation mechanisms of heavy oils in the Liaohe Western Depression,Bohai Gulf Basin显示文摘The Liaohe Oilfield in the Liaohe Western Depression of the Bohai Gulf Basin is the third-largest oil producing province and the largest heavy oil producing oilfield in China. A total of 65 oil samples,35 rock samples and 36 reservoir sandstone samples were collected and analyzed utilizing conventional geochemical and biogeochemical approaches to unravel the mechanisms of the formation of the heavy oils. Investigation of the oils with the lowest maturity compared with the oils in the Gaosheng and Niuxintuo oilfields indicates no apparent relation between the maturity and physical properties of the heavy oils. It is suggested that the heavy oil with primary origin is not likely the main mechanism re-sponsible for the majority of the heavy oils in the Liaohe Western Slope. The absence and/or depletion of n-alkanes etc.,with relatively low molecular weight and the occurrence of 25-norhopane series in the heavy oils as well as the relatively high acidity of the oils all suggest that the majority of the heavy oils once experienced secondary alteration. The fingerprints of the total scanning fluorescence (TSF) of the inner adsorbed hydrocarbons on the reservoir grains and the included hydrocarbons in fluid inclusions are similar to that of the normal oils in the area but are different from the outer adsorbed and reser-voired free oils at present,further indicating that most of the heavy oils are secondary in origin. Analyses of bacteria (microbes) in 7 oil samples indicate that anaerobic and hyperthermophilic Ar-chaeoglobus sp. are the dominant microbes relevant to oil biodegradation,which coincides with the shallow commercial gas reservoirs containing anaerobic bacteria derived gas in the Gaosheng and Leijia teotonic belts. The biodegradation most likely occurs at the water/oil interface,where the forma-tion water is essential for microbe removal and nutrient transportation. We think that biodegradation,water washing and oxidization are interrelated and are the main mechanisms for the formation of the heavy oils. Biodegradation was the predominant process with water washing being a prerequisite,and oxidization acting as a metabolic manifestation.
