5Decoding effects of psychoactive drugs in a high-dimensional space of eye movements in monkeys显示文摘Oculomotor behavior has been shown to be correlated with mental disorders in clinics,making it promising for disease diagnosis.Here we developed a thorough oculomotor test toolkit,involving saccade,smooth pursuit,and fixation,allowing the examination of multiple oculomotor parameters in monkey models induced by psychoactive drugs.Eye movements were recorded after daily injections of phencyclidine(PCP)(3.0 mg/kg),ketamine(0.8 mg/kg)or controlled saline in two macaque monkeys.Both drugs led to robust reduction in accuracy and increment in reaction time during high cognitive-demanding tasks.Saccades,smooth pursuit,and fixation stability were also significantly impaired.During fixation,the involuntary microsaccades exhibited increased amplitudes and were biased toward the lower visual field.Pupillary response was reduced during cognitive tasks.Both drugs also increased sensitivity to auditory cues as reflected in auditory evoked potentials(AEPs).Thus,our animal model induced by psychoactive drugs produced largely similar abnormalities to that in patients with schizophrenia.Importantly,a classifier based on dimension reduction and machine learning could reliably identify altered states induced by different drugs(PCP,ketamine and saline,accuracy=93%).The high performance of the classifier was reserved even when data from one monkey were used for training and testing the other subject(averaged classification accuracy=90%).Thus,despite heterogeneity in baseline oculomotor behavior between the two monkeys,our model allows data transferability across individuals,which could be beneficial for future evaluation of pharmaceutical or physical therapy validity.Xu Liu Zhixian Cheng He Lin Jiangxiu Tan Wenyao Chen Yichuan Bao Ying Liu Lei Zhong Yitian Yao Liping Wang Jijun Wang Yong Gu 2023National Science Review2023,10,11:1

7Mechanistic insights into propylene oxidation to acrolein over gold catalysts显示文摘Direct epoxidation of propylene with H_(2)/O_(2),being the dream reaction for propylene oxide(PO)production,has raised wide scientific and industrial interests.Fundamentally understanding the formation mechanism of acrolein,as the main by-product of this epoxidation process,is very important to achieve the high yield of PO.In this study,we perform the spin-polarized density functional theory(DFT)calculations to investigate the reaction pathway from propylene to acrolein over two representative Au surfaces,that is,Au(111)and Au(100),which incorporates propylene adsorption,methyl hydrogen activation and acrolein formation.The results show that the oxygenated species(mainly O^(*),OH^(*)and OOH^(*))are able to stabilize the adsorption of propylene to decrease the energy barrier for its activation.It is demonstrated that the OOH^(*)on Au(111)surface emerges as the most easily formed oxygenated species via the H-assisted O_(2) dissociation,which is also the most active for the cleavage of methyl CAH bond in propylene.Furthermore,three pathways of acrolein formation activated by O^(*)/OH^(*)/OOH^(*)are analyzed,in which O^(*)is found as the key species to form acrolein.Finally,Bader charge analysis was conducted to explore the reasons behind the promotion effect of the oxygenated species.The insights reported here could be valuable in the design and optimization of gold catalysts for the direct epoxidation of propylene.Bin Lin Wenyao Chen Nan Song Zhihua Zhang Qianhong Wang Wei Du Xinggui Zhou Xuezhi Duan 2023Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,57,5:1
8The As-surface of an iron-based superconductor CaKFe_(4)As_(4)显示文摘As a new type of iron-based superconductor, CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has recently been demonstrated to be a promising platform for observing Majorana zero modes (MZMs). The surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) plays an important role in realizing the MZM since it hosts superconducting topological surface states. However, due to the complicated crystal structure, the terminal surface of CaKFe_(4)As_(4) has not been determined yet. Here, by using scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S), we find that there are two types of surface structure in CaKFe_(4)As_(4). Bias-dependent atomic resolution images show an evolvement from 2–√×2–√ superstructure with respect to the As lattice into 1 × 1 when the tip is brought close to the surface, revealing the sublattice of missing As atoms. Together with the first-principles calculations, we show that the surface As layer has a buckled structure.
