| 1 | Catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into chemicals and fuels显示文摘In the search of alternative resources to make commodity chemicals and transportation fuels for a low carbon future,lignocellulosic biomass with over 180-billion-ton annual production rate has been identified as a promising feedstock.This review focuses on the state-of-the-art catalytic transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals and fuels.Following a brief introduction on the structure,major resources and pretreatment methods of lignocellulosic biomass,the catalytic conversion of three main components,i.e.,cellulose,hemicellulose and lignin,into various compounds are comprehensively discussed.Either in separate steps or in one-pot,cellulose and hemicellulose are hydrolyzed into sugars and upgraded into oxygen-containing chemicals such as 5-HMF,furfural,polyols,and organic acids,or even nitrogen-containing chemicals such as amino acids.On the other hand,lignin is first depolymerized into phenols,catechols,guaiacols,aldehydes and ketones,and then further transformed into hydrocarbon fuels,bioplastic precursors and bioactive compounds.The review then introduces the transformations of whole biomass via catalytic gasification,catalytic pyrolysis,as well as emerging strategies.Finally,opportunities,challenges and prospective of woody biomass valorization are highlighted. | Weiping Deng Yunchao Feng Jie Fu Haiwei Guo Yong Guo Buxing Han Zhicheng Jiang Lingzhao Kong Changzhi Li Haichao Liu Phuc T.T.Nguyen Puning Ren Feng Wang Shuai Wang Yanqin Wang Ye Wang Sie Shing Wong Kai Yan Ning Yan Xiaofei Yang Yuanbao Zhang Zhanrong Zhang Xianhai Zeng Hui Zhou | 2023 | Green Energy & Environment2023,8,1: | 6 |
| 2 | SFRP5 inhibits melanin synthesis of melanocytes in vitiligo by suppressing the Wnt/b-catenin signaling显示文摘Secreted frizzled-related protein 5(SFRP5)plays a pivotal role in regulating the development of many tissues and organs,however,as an inhibitor of Wnt signaling,the role of SFRP5 in vitiligo remains unknown.Hence,we speculated that SFRP5 might be associated with melanogenesis in melanocytes by regulating Wnt signaling in vitiligo.In this study,we found that SFRP5 was overexpressed in the skin lesions of patients with vitiligo.Compared with that in normal epidermal melanocytes(PIG1),the expression of SFRP5 was increased in vitiligo melanocytes(PIG3V).To investigate the effect of SFRP5 on melanin synthesis,PIG1 cells were infected with recombinant SFRP5 adenovirus(AdSFRP5),and PIG3V cells were infected with recombinant siSFRP5 adenovirus(AdsiSFRP5).The results showed that SFRP5 overexpression inhibited melanin synthesis in PIG1 cells through downregulation of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)and its target proteins via suppression of the Wnt/b-catenin signaling pathway.Accordingly,SFRP5 silencing increased melanin synthesis and activated the Wnt signaling pathway in PIG3V cells.Moreover,SFRP5 overexpression also downregulated the transcriptional activity of T cell factor/lymphoid enhancer factor(TCF/LEF)in PIG1 cells.Furthermore,this inhibitory effect of SFRP5 on melanin synthesis was reversed by treatment with the b-catenin agonist,SKL2001.The inhibitory action of SFRP5 in pigmentation was further confirmed in vivo using a nude mouse model.Hence,our results indicate that SFRP5 can inhibit melanogenesis in melanocytes.Additionally,our findings showed that SFRP5 plays a vital role in the development of vitiligo,and thus may serve as a potential therapeutic target for vitiligo. | Daopei Zou Yangmei Chen Lingzhao Zhang Xiaohui Yuan Yujie Zhang Adelina Inggawati Pham Thi Kieu Nguyet Tianwen Gao Jin Chen | 2021 | Genes & Diseases2021,8,5: | 2 |

| 8 | Formation of THMs and HANs during bromination of Microcystis aeruginosa显示文摘Bromine-contained disinfectants and biocides are widely used in swimming pools, recreational waters and cooling towers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the formation of thrihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetonitriles (HANs) and their cytotoxicity in algae solutions during free bromine disinfection. Disinfection by-products formation potential experiments were conducted using model solutions containing 7 mg/L (as total organic carbon) Microcystis aeruginosa cells. Effects of free bromine dosage, pH and ammonia were investigated. The results showed that brominated disinfection by-products were the major products when free bromine was applied. The total THMs formed during bromination was much as that formed during chlorination, whereas HANs were elevated by using bromination instead of chlorination. Dibromoacetonitrice (C2H2NBr2 ) and bromoform (CHBr3 ) were the only detected species during free bromine disinfection. The production of C2H2NBr2 and CHBr 3 increased with disinfectant dosage but decreased with dosing ammonia. CHBr3 increased with the pH changing from 5 to 9. However, C2H2NBr2 achieved the highest production at neutral pH, which was due to a joint effect of variation in hydrolysis rate and free bromine reactivity. The hydrolysis of C2H2NBr2 was base-catalytic and nearly unaffected by disinfectant. Finally, estimation of cytotoxicity of the disinfected algae solutions showed that HANs formation was responsible for the majority of toxicity. | 10 | Study on Separating Naphthenic Acids from Diesel Fuel by Microwave Irradiation显示文摘The microwave technology was introduced to separate naphthenic acids from diesel fuel. Thedecrease of zeta-potential of electric double layer on the W/O interface and the reduction of diesel fuelviscosity were responsible for the accelerated separation of naphthenic acids under microwave irradiation.The influences of dosage of alkali compound solvent (Mp/MT), irradiation pressure, irradiation time,irradiation power, the settling time and oil phase-to-solvent phase volume ratio (O/S) had been investigated.The optimum process conditions for the refining process were determined. The removal of naphthenicacids reached 98.4% when the optimum conditions were proposed as follows: Mp/MT=1.5, 0.05MPa, 6 min,375W, 25min and O/S=10, respectively.
