| 1 | Distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria isolated from cancer hospital in 2013显示文摘Objective: To understand distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria from a specialized cancer hospital in 2013 in order to provide a basis for rational clinical antimicrobial agents. Methods: Pathogenic bacteria identification and drug sensitivity tests were performed with a VITEK 2 compact automatic identification system and data were analyzed using WHONET5.6 software.Results: Of the 1,378 strains tested, 980 were Gram-negative bacilli, accounting for 71.1%, in which Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were the dominant strains. We found 328 Gram-positive coccus, accounting for 23.8%, in which the amount of Staphylococcus aureus was the highest. We identified 46 fungi, accounting for 4.1%. According to the departmental distribution within the hospital, the surgical departments isolated the major strains, accounting for 49.7%. According to disease types, lung cancer, intestinal cancer and esophagus cancer were the top three, accounting for 20.9%, 17.3% and 14.2%, respectively. | 3 | Piperlongumine Inhibits Zika Virus Replication In vitro and Promotes Up-Regulation of HO-1 Expression, Suggesting An Implication of Oxidative Stress显示文摘Owing to the widespread distribution of mosquitoes capable of transmitting Zika virus, lack of clinical vaccines and treatments, and poor immunity of populations to new infectious diseases, Zika virus has become a global public health concern. Recent studies have found that Zika virus can continuously infect human brain microvascular endothelial cells.These cells are the primary components of the blood–brain barrier of the cerebral cortex, and further infection of brain tissue may cause severe damage such as encephalitis and fetal pituitary disease. The present study found that a biologically active base, piperlongumine(PL), inhibited Zika virus replication in human brain microvascular endothelial cells, Vero cells, and human umbilical vein endothelial cells. PL also significantly increased heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) gene expression, while silencing HO-1 expression and using the reactive oxygen species scavenger, N-acetylcysteine, attenuated the inhibitory effect of PL on Zika virus replication. These results suggest that PL induces oxidative stress in cells by increasing reactive oxygen species. This, in turn, induces an increase in HO-1 expression, thereby inhibiting Zika virus replication. | 5 | Global transcriptomic analysis reveals Lnc-ADAMTS9 exerting an essential role in myogenesis through modulating the ERK signaling pathway显示文摘Background:Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)are emerging key regulators involved in a variety of biological processes such as cell differentiation and development.The balance between myogenesis and adipogenesis is crucial for skeletal muscle homeostasis in humans and meat quality in farm animals.The present study aimed to reveal the global transcriptomic profiles of adipogenic(Adi-)and myogenic(Myo-)precursors derived from porcine skeletal muscle and identify lncRNAs involved in the modulation of myogenesis homeostasis in porcine skeletal muscle.Results:In this study,a total of 655 novel individual lncRNAs including differentially expressed 24 lncRNAs,and 755 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified(fold change≥2 or≤0.5 and adjusted P<0.05).Integrated results of Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)enrichment analysis accompanied by the variation of intracellular Ca2+concentration highlighted Lnc-ADAMTS9 involved in the modulation of myogenesis homeostasis in porcine skeletal muscle.Although Lnc-ADAMTS9 knock-down did not alter the mRNA expression of ADAMTS9,we demonstrated that Lnc-ADAMTS9 can promote myogenic proliferation and myogenic differentiation of myogenic precursors through inhibiting the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway.Conclusion:We deciphered a comprehensive catalog of mRNAs and lncRNAs that might be involved in the regulation of myogenesis and adipogenesis homeostasis in the skeletal muscle of pigs.The Lnc-ADAMTS9 exerts an essential role in myogenesis through the ERK signaling pathway. | Liqi Wang Ting He Xin Zhang Yubo Wang Kai Qiu Ning Jiao Linjuan He Jingdong Yin | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,2: | 3 |

| 14 | Registration of intervention trials of Traditional Chinese Medicine for four neurological diseases on Chinese Clinical Trial Registry and Clinical Trials.gov:a narrative review显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To analyze the current status of clinical trial registration of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)for the treatment of neurological diseases.METHODS:Interventional clinical trials of TCM treatment for ischemic stroke,hemorrhagic stroke,vascular cognitive impairment,tension-type headache before September 22,2020 on the platform of Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(Chi CTR),and Clinical Trials.gov were searched.Two researchers independently selected the literature and extracted data.RESULTS:A total of 180 interventional clinical trials were included for analysis.Out of 180 trials,127 were from Chi CTR and 53 from Clinical Trials.gov.The countries primary sponsoring the included trials were China(176,97.8%),and the common categories of primary sponsors were hospital(131,72.8%).Among the study design,the largest proportion of allocation was randomized(172,95.6%),interventional model assignment was parallel(163,90.6%),masking was double blind 49(27.2%),and the sample size was≤400(144,80.0%).The trials were most carried out at a single center(102,56.7%).Among the included studies,112(62.2%)registered on Chi CTR attached the ethical approval documents.In terms of trial stages,50(27.7%)studies were in phaseⅣ.The mostly used intervention was Chinese herbal medicines(99,55%),acupuncture(68,37.8%)was the second.By searching the registration number on China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and Pub Med,38(21.1%)registered trials were published,including 25 protocol studies and 14 research results with one(NCT02275949)published both the protocol and the results.CONCLUSIONS:Irregular and inadequate reporting,untimely update and publication,insufficient information on traditional medicine unique characteristics,and lack of international collaborations are the problems existing in the interventional clinical registration trials of traditional medicine treatment on neurological diseases.More efforts need to be made from the above aspects to standardize and improve the registration of traditional medicine trials. | WEI Jingjing GUO Rongjuan FU Guojing LIANG Xiao XU Zhenmin JIA Min ZENG Zixiu DU Wanqing JIAO Weiwei SUN Linjuan LIU Hongmei GUO Chunli TONG Chenguang ZHANG Yunling LIAO Xing | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,1: | 1 |

| 19 | SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE FAMILY GENES IN WATERMELON AND THEIR RESPONSES TO DIFFERENT ABIOTIC STRESSES显示文摘Superoxide dismutase(SOD)is an important enzyme in the antioxidant system of plants and plays a vital role in stress responses by maintaining the dynamic balance of reactive oxygen species(ROS)concentrations.Genome-wide analysis of the SOD gene family in various plant species has been conducted but little is known about this gene family in watermelon(Citrullus lanatus).Here,eight SOD genes were identified in the watermelon genome and are designated Cl CSD1-5,Cl FSD1-2 and Cl MSD according to their metal cofactors.Phylogenetic analysis shows that SOD proteins from various plant species can be classified into five groups and members in the same group possess the same metal cofactor and similar subcellular localizations.Expression analysis of the Cl SOD genes indicates that they had tissue-specific expression patterns with high expression in different tissues including the leaves,flowers and fruits.In addition,the expression of Cl SOD genes differed appreciably under salinity,drought and abscisic acid(ABA)treatments,indicating that they may be involved in ROS scavenging under different abiotic stresses via an ABA-dependent signaling pathway.These results lay the foundation for elucidating the function of Cl SOD genes in stress tolerance and fruit development in watermelon. | Yong ZHOU Linjuan OUYANG Dahu ZHOU Yicong CAI Haohua HE | 2021 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2021,8,4: | 1 |
