3Mid-Holocene climate change in North China, and the effect on cultural development显示文摘In this study, to reconstruct the paleoclimatic history, pollen and oxygen isotope were analyzed on the 160 samples of a 2.7 m peat core from Taishizhuang, Huailai County, Hebei Province. Combining our data with other information of climate history and archaeology from this area, we found that there is a close linkage between cultural development and the mid-Holocene (6000-3000 cal. aBP) environment changes. The main results and conclusions are presented as the following: The climate during 5678-5400 cal. aBP was unstable and in general colder and drier than today. From 5400 to 4800 cal. aBP the climate was much warmer and wetter than before. The climate during 4800-4300 cal. aBP was persistently cold, with an exceptional cold event occurring at 4600-4300 cal. aBP. This cold event was recorded at several other localities in Northern China even the Northern Hemisphere and played an important role in the cultural development. 4A Study of Sr, Nd and O Isotopes of the K-rich Melanocratic Dykes in the Late Mesozoic Gold Field in the Jiaodong Peninsula显示文摘Geologic, petrographic and petrochemical studies of the lateMesozoic K-rich melanocratic dykes, including lamprophyres, andesite porphyrites and dacite-porphyry in the gold field system in the Jiaodong Peninsula, China, have shown that these dykes are characterized by rich potassium and alkali but poor titanium. They belong to an ultra-high potassic, shoshonitic and high potassic calc-alkaline rock series. The parental magma has relatively high initial strontium ratios ((87Sr/86Sr)i-0.70895-0.71140) and low (143Nd/144Nd)i ratios (varying from 0.51135 to 0.51231); and its δ18OsMow. whole rock values vary from +5.8‰ to +10.6‰ with a mean of +7.1‰. These features suggest that the source region of the magma is an enriched mantle wedge transformed from a continental lithosphere mantle which has experienced me tasomatism by mantle-derived fluids with H2O-dominated fluids that were provided during the underthrusting of an ocean crust. The initial magma was generated by low-degree partial melting of the enriched mantle in its mature stage in the back-arc spreading environment. The evolution of magmas is associated with two trends, i.e., fractional crystallization and mixing with or intensive contamination by palaeo-crust materials or metamorphic rocks. The former process is evident in the gold field system of quartz-vein type, whereas the latter is dominated in the gold field system of the altered-rock type. 5Cryodamage to plasma membrane integrity in head and tail regions of human sperm显示文摘Aim: To investigate the effect of cryopreservation on the plasma membrane integrity in the head and tail regions of individual sperm, and the relationship between intact cryopreserved sperm and its motility and zona-free hamster oocyte penetration rate. Methods: The eosin Y exclusion and the hypoosmotic swelling tests were combined to form a single test (HOS-EY test) to identify the spermatozoa with four types of membrane integrity. Results: After cryopreservation, there was a marked decline in the percentage of spermatozoa with Type IV membrane integrity (head membrane intact/tail membrane intact), and a significant increase in those with Type Ⅰ (head membrane damaged/tail membrane damaged) and Type Ⅲ (head membrane damaged/tail membrane intact) membrane integrity (n = 50, P<0.01). The value of Type Ⅲ integrity had a wide range of variability, whereas Type II (head membrane intact/tail membrane damaged) was uncommon after thawing. A high correlation was observed between the percentage of Type Ⅳ integrity and sperm motility ( n = 50, r = 0.74, P < 0.01 ). However, the values of Type IV integrity were usually lower than those of post-thaw motility in most cryopreserved samples. The value of Type IV integrity did not correlate with the sperm penetration rate (n =25, r=0.22, P>0.05). Conclusion: (1) The HOS-EY test has the advantage of showing four patterns of membrane integrity in individual spermatozoon; (2) Cryopreservation causes a significant membrane rupture in the head and tail regions of spermatozoa; Type IT[ is the main transitional state of membrane cryodamage; (3) Cryodamage to head and tail membrane may occur independently; the presence of an intact tail membrane does not necessarily indicate the intactness of head membrane. 6Tension and Thickness Control Strategy Analysis of Two Stands Reversible Cold Rolling Mill显示文摘In order to lucubrate the rolling characteristic of the two stands reversible cold rolling mill and establish the tension and thickness control strategy, the steady-state characteristic simulating program was established using the steady-state continuous rolling theory. The influences of each factor on exit thickness under different tension control methods were analyzed. The results show that, the influence of the entry stand gap on exit thickness is significant and it changes little with different tension control methods. As a result, the entry stand gap can be used as the main control method of exit thickness, whereas rolling speed of any stand and roll gap of the exit stand can be used to adjust the inter-stand tension. 7Detection of soluble TRAIL in HBV infected patients and its clinical implications显示文摘AIM: To detect the expression of soluble TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand, TRAIL) in the peripheral blood of HBV infected patients and try to elucidate whether the expression level of sTRAIL have any correlativity with the clinical staging, the expression level of HBV markers and the degree of liver damage.METHODS: 52 cases of HBV infected patients were investigated, induding 8 HBV carriers, 30 chronic hepatitis B, 11 drrhotics and 3 HBV infection related hepatocellular carcinoma. Expression of soluble TRAIL and markers of the hepatitis B were mearsured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS: The expression level of sTRAIL in the peripheral blood of the HBV infected patients was significantly higher than that of healthy controls (1378.35±540.23 pg/ml vs 613.75±175.80 pg/ml, P<0.001). In the group of chronic hepatitis, the expression level of sTRAIL was coincident with the status of the disease and was significantly correlated with the level of ALT. In the group of cirrhosis and liver cancer, its expression level was significantly higher than that of the healthy persons and HBV carriers, but lower than that of the hepatitis B patients; meanwhile, the expression of siRAIL did not have any correlativity with the functional indexes of the liver. CONCLUSION: The soluble TRAIL in the HBV infected people may participate in the liver damage. 8P wave velocity structure of upper and middle crust beneath the Three Gorges reservoir dam and adjacent regions显示文摘The three-dimensional P wave velocity structures of upper and middle crust beneath the Three Gorges reservoir dam and adjacent regions were reconstructed by means of the seismic tomography, using the absolute P-arrivals from the events observed by the Three Gorges seismic network. Our preliminary study of the deep structure shows: (1) the lithology of the Huangling anticline, integral and highly so-lidified, exhibits a uniformity. Down to a depth of 20 km, the Huangling anticline still shows high- velocity anomalies. Note that the characteristics of the velocity images with the different depths are not the same; (2) the depth of the sedimentary rocks beneath the entire Zigui basin is not constant, which is less than 6 km; (3) the top boundary of the crystalline basement varies from 0 to 7 km, whereas the bottom one between 14 and 16 km; (4) the partially molten substances of the upper mantle are located in the Badong-Zigui and its adjacent regions as well as nearby Peishi area. 9Harmine induces apoptosis in HepG2 cells via mitochondrial signaling pathway显示文摘BACKGROUND:Harmine has antitumor and antinociceptive effects,and inhibits human DNA topoisomerase.However no detailed data are available on the mechanisms of action of harmine in hepatocellular carcinoma.This study aimed to investigate the effects of harmine on proliferation and apoptosis and the underlying mechanisms in the human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HepG2.METHODS:The proliferation of HepG2 cells was determined by the cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and the clone formation test.The morphology of HepG2 cells was examined using fluorescence microscopy after Hoechst 33258 staining Annexin V/propidium iodide (PI) was used to analyze apoptosis and PI to analyze the cell cycle.Western blotting was used to assess expression of the apoptosis-regulated genes Bcl-2,Bax,Bcl-xl,Mcl-1,caspase-3,and caspase-9 Mitochondrial transmembrane potential (Ψ m) was determined using JC-1.RESULTS:Harmine inhibited the proliferation of HepG2 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Hoechst 33258 staining revealed nuclear fragmentation and chromosomal condensation,cell shrinkage,and attachment loss in HepG2 cells treated with harmine.The percentage of the sub/G1 fraction was increased in a concentration-dependent manner,indicating apoptotic cell death.PI staining showed that harmine changed the cell cycle distribution,by decreasing the proportion of cells inG0/G1 and increasing the proportion in S and G2/M.Harmine induced apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner,with rates of 20.0%,32.7% and 64.9%,respectively.JC-1 revealed a decrease in Ψ m.Apoptosis of HepG2 cells was associated with caspase-3 and caspase-9 activation,down-regulation of Bcl-2,Mcl-1,and Bcl-xl,and no change in Bax.CONCLUSIONS:Harmine had an anti-proliferative effect in HepG2 cells by inducing apoptosis.Mitochondrial signal pathways were involved in the apoptosis.The cancer-specific selectivity shown in this study suggested that harmine is a promising novel drug for human hepatocellular carcinoma.Ming-Rong Cao,Qiang Li,Zhi-Long Liu,Hui-Hui Liu,Wei Wang,Xiao-Li Liao,Yun-Long Pan and Jian-Wei Jiang Department of General Surgery,First Affiliated Hospital,Jinan University,Guangzhou 510632,China Department of Anesthesiology,First Affiliated Hospital,Guangzhou University of TCM,Guangzhou 510632,China Department of Biochemistry,Medical College of Jinan University,Guangzhou 510632,China 2011Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,6:11

11Error analysis of the semi-discrete local discontinuous Galerkin method for semiconductor device simulation models显示文摘In this paper we continue our effort in Liu-Shu (2004) and Liu-Shu (2007) for developing local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) finite element methods to discretize moment models in semiconductor device simulations. We consider drift-diffusion (DD) and high-field (HF) models of one-dimensional devices, which involve not only first derivative convection terms but also second derivative diffusion terms, as well as a coupled Poisson potential equation. Error estimates are obtained for both models with smooth solutions. The main technical difficulties in the analysis include the treatment of the inter-element jump terms which arise from the discontinuous nature of the numerical method, the nonlinearity, and the coupling of the models. 13False belief reasoning in the brain: An ERP study显示文摘Understanding others mind and interpersonal interaction are the cognitive basis of successful social interactions. People's mental states and behaviors rely on their holding beliefs for self and others. To investigate the neural substrates of false belief reasoning, the 32 channels event-related potentials (ERP) of 14 normal adults were measured while they understood false-belief and true belief used de-ceptive appearance task. After onset of the false-belief or true-belief questions, N100, P200 and late negative component (LNC) were elicited at centro-frontal sites. Compared with true belief, false belief reasoning elicited significant declined LNC in the time window from 400 to 800 ms. The source analysis of difference wave (False minus True) showed a dipole located in the middle cingulated cortex. 14Effect of oxytocin on contraction of rabbit proximal colon in vitro显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of oxytocin (OT) on isolatedrabbit proximal colon and its mechanism.METHODS: Both longitudinal muscle (LM) and circularmuscle (CM) were suspended in a tissue chamber containing5 mL Krebs solution (37 ℃), bubbled continuously with950 mL@L-1 O2 and 50 mL@L-1 CO2. Isometric spontaneouscontractile responses to oxytocin or other drugs wererecorded in circular and longitudinal muscle strips.RESULTS: OT (0.1 U@L-1) f ailed to elicit significant effectson the contractile activity of proximal colonic smooth musclestrips (P>0.05). OT (1 to 10 U@L-1) decreased the meancontractile amplitude and the contractile frequency of CMand LM. Hexamethonium (10 μmol@L-1) partly blocked theinhibition of oxytocin (1 U@L-1) on the contractile frenquencyof CM. Nω-nitro-L-arginine-methylester (L-NAME, 1 μmol@L-1),progesterone (32 μmol@L-1) and estrogen (2.6 μmol@L-1) hadno effects on OT-induced responses.CONCLUSION: OT inhibits the motility of proximal colon inrabbits. 17Role of C and Fe in Grain Magnesium Alloy by Al-C Refinement of an AZ63B Master Alloy显示文摘In this study, grain refining effect of AI-1.5C master alloy was examined on an AZ63B magnesium alloy, and therefining mechanism was studied through investigating the role of C and Fe in this process. The results show thataddition of AI-1.5C master alloy leads to significant decrease of the mean grain size from about 270 μm to 50 μmat the center of the AZ63 alloy ingot. Grain refinement by carbon addition is mainly due to the heterogeneitynucleation on the AI-, C-, O-, Fe- and Mn-rich particles, but not constitutional undercooling caused by the carbonsolute element. 18Evaluation of the Characteristics of Virus-free Sweetpotato and Its Use in Hybridization显示文摘Application of virus-free sweetpotato is a breakthrough of sweetpotato production. Several popular varieties were adopted to study their yield increase potential and their use in breeding in this research.The results showed that after virus-elimination, all varieties had a yield increase ranging from 14.95% -91.61% and marketable quality improvement, despite the changes in location and season. The changes of dry matter content and disease resistance were not significant. Virus-free sweetpotato performed vigorous vine growth and strong dry matter assimilation ability.
