4The interplay of host genetic factors and Epstein-Barr virus in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘The interplay between host cell genetics and Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) infection contributes to the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC). Understanding the host genetic and epigenetic alterations and the influence of EBV on cell signaling and host gene regulation will aid in understanding the molecular pathogenesis of NPC and provide useful biomarkers and targets for diagnosis and therapy. In this review, we provide an update of the oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes associated with NPC, as well as genes associated with NPC risk including those involved in carcinogen detoxification and DNA repair. We also describe the importance of host genetics that govern the human leukocyte antigen(HLA) complex and immune responses, and we describe the impact of EBV infection on host cell signaling changes and epigenetic regulation of gene expression. 5First observation of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide from the Environmental Trace Gases Monitoring Instrument onboard the GaoFen-5 satellite显示文摘The Environmental Trace Gases Monitoring Instrument(EMI)is the first Chinese satellite-borne UV–Vis spectrometer aiming to measure the distribution of atmospheric trace gases on a global scale.The EMI instrument onboard the GaoFen-5 satellite was launched on 9 May 2018.In this paper,we present the tropospheric nitrogen dioxide(NO2)vertical column density(VCD)retrieval algorithm dedicated to EMI measurement.We report the first successful retrieval of tropospheric NO_(2) VCD from the EMI instrument.Our retrieval improved the original EMI NO_(2) prototype algorithm by modifying the settings of the spectral fit and air mass factor calculations to account for the on-orbit instrumental performance changes.The retrieved EMI NO_(2) VCDs generally show good spatiotemporal agreement with the satellite-borne Ozone Monitoring Instrument and TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument(correlation coefficient R of ~0.9,bias<50%).A comparison with ground-based MAX-DOAS(Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy)observations also shows good correlation with an R of 0.82.The results indicate that the EMI NO_(2) retrieval algorithm derives reliable and precise results,and this algorithm can feasibly produce stable operational products that can contribute to global air pollution monitoring.Chengxin Zhang Cheng Liu Ka Lok Chan Qihou Hu Haoran Liu Bo Li Chengzhi Xing Wei Tan Haijin Zhou Fuqi Si Jianguo Liu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:11

7A Novel Semiconductor CIGS Photovoltaic Material and Thin-Film ED Technology显示文摘In order to achieve low cost high efficiency thin film solar cells,a novel Semiconductor Photovoltaic (PV) active material CuIn 1-x Ga x Se 2 (CIGS) and thin film Electro Deposition (ED) technology is explored.Firstly,the PV materials and technologies is investigated,then the detailed experimental processes of CIGS/Mo/glass structure by using the novel ED technology and the results are reported.These results shows that high quality CIGS polycrystalline thin films can be obtained by the ED method,in which the polycrystalline CIGS is definitely identified by the (112),(204,220) characteristic peaks of the tetragonal structure,the continuous CIGS thin film layers with particle average size of about 2μm of length and around 1 6μm of thickness.The thickness and solar grade quality of CIGS thin films can be produced with good repeatability.Discussion and analysis on the ED technique,CIGS energy band and sodium (Na) impurity properties,were also performed.The alloy CIGS exhibits not only increasing band gap with increasing x ,but also a change in material properties that is relevant to the device operation.The beneficial impurity Na originating from the low cost soda lime glass substrate becomes one prerequisite for high quality CIGS films.These novel material and technology are very useful for low cost high efficiency thin film solar cells and other devices.ZHENG Guang fu 1,YANG Hong xing 1,MAN Cheuk ho 1,WONG Wing lok 2, AN Da wei 1 and John BURNETT 1(1 Centre for Development of Solar Energy Technology,Department of Building Services Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University,Hong Kong,C 2001Journal of Semiconductors2001,22,11:10

9Clinically relevant factors associated with quantitative optical coherence tomography angiography metrics in deep capillary plexus in patients with diabetes显示文摘Background:To test clinically relevant factors associated with quantitative artifact-free deep capillary plexus(DCP)metrics in patients with diabetes mellitus(DM).Methods:563 eligible eyes(221 with no diabetic retinopathy[DR],135 with mild DR,130 with moderate DR,and 77 with severe DR)from 334 subjects underwent optical coherence tomography-angiography(OCT-A)with a swept-source OCT(Triton DRI-OCT,Topcon,Inc.,Tokyo,Japan).Strict criteria were applied to exclude from analysis those DCP images with artifacts and of poor quality,including projection artifacts,motion artifacts,blurriness,signal loss,B-scan segmentation error,or low-quality score.A customized MATLAB program was then used to quantify DCP morphology from the artifact-free DCP images by calculating three metrics:foveal avascular zone(FAZ),vessel density(VD),and fractal dimension(FD).Results:166(29.5%)eyes were excluded after quality control,leaving in the analysis 397 eyes(170 with no DR,101 with mild DR,90 with moderate DR,36 with severe DR)from 250 subjects.In the multiple regression models,larger FAZ area was associated with more severe DR(β=0.687;p=0.037),shorter axial length(AL)(β=−0.171;p=0.003),thinner subfoveal choroid thickness(β=−0.122;p=0.031),and lower body mass index(BMI)(β=−0.090;p=0.047).Lower VD was associated with more severe DR(β=−0.842;p=0.001),shorter AL(β=0.107;p=0.039),and poorer visual acuity(VA)(β=−0.133;p=0.021).Lower FD was associated with more severe DR(β=−0.891;p<0.001)and with older age(β=−0.142;p=0.004).Conclusions:Quantitative artifact-free DCP metrics are associated with VA,DR severity,AL,subfoveal choroidal thickness,age,and BMI in diabetic patients.The effects of ocular and systemic factors should be considered for meaningful interpretations of DCP changes in DM patients.Fang Yao Tang Erica O.Chan Zihan Sun Raymond Wong Jerry Lok Simon Szeto Jason C.Chan Alexander Lam Clement C.Tham Danny S.Ng Carol Y.Cheung 2020Eye and Vision2020,7,1:7

14恩替卡韦与拉米夫定治疗HBeAg阴性慢性乙型肝炎的比较显示文摘BACKGROUND:Entecavir is a potent and selective antiviral agent that has demonstrated efficacy in phase 2 studies in patients with hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)-negative chronic hepatitis B.METHODS:In this phase 3,double-blind trial,we randomly assigned 648 patients with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B who had not previously been treated with a nucleoside analogue to receive 0.5 mg of entecavir or 100 mg of lamivudine once daily for a minimum of 52 weeks.The primary efficacy end point was histologic improvement(a decrease by at least two points in the Knodell necroinflammatory score,without worsening of fibrosis).RESULTS:Histologic improvement after 48 weeks of treatment occurred in 208 of 296 patients in the entecavir group who had adequate baseline liver-biopsy specimens that could be evaluated(70 percent),as compared with 174 of 287 such patients in the lamivudine group(61 percent,P=0.01).More patients in the entecavir group than in the lamivudine group had undetectable serum hepatitis B virus(HBV)DNA levels according to a polymerase-chain-reaction assay(90 percent vs.72 percent,P < 0.001)and normalization of alanine aminotransferase levels(78 percent vs.71 percent,P = 0.045).The mean reduction in serum HBV DNA levels from baseline to week 48 was greater with entecavir than with lamivudine(5.0 vs.4.5 log on a base-10 scale copies per milliliter,P < 0.001).There was no evidence of resistance to entecavir.Safety and adverse-event profiles were similar in the two groups.CONCLUSIONS:Among patients with HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B who had not previously been treated with a nucleoside analogue,the rates of histologic improvement,virologic response,and normalization of alanine aminotransferase levels were significantly higher at 48 weeks with entecavir than with lamivudine.The safety profile of the two agents was similar,and there was no evidence of viral resistance to entecavir.Shouval D. 15Risk factor for ischemic-type biliary lesion after ABO-incompatible living donor liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the risk factors for ischemic-type biliary lesion(ITBL) after ABO-incompatible(ABO-I) adult living donor liver transplantation(ALDLT).METHODS: Among 141 ALDLTs performed in our hospital between 2008 and 2014, 27(19%) were ABO-I ALDLT and 114 were ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT. In this study, we extensively analyzed the clinico-pathological data of the 27 ABO-I recipients to determine the risk factors for ITBL after ABO-I ALDLT. All ABO-I ALDLT recipients underwent an identical B-cell depletion protocol with preoperative rituximab, plasma exchange(PE), and operative splenectomy. The median follow-up period after transplantation was 26 mo. The clinical outcomes of the 27 ABO-I ALDLT recipients were compared with those of 114 ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT recipients.RESULTS: ITBL occurred in four recipients(14.8%) between 45 and 112 d after ABO-I ALDLT. The overall survival rates were not different between ABO-I ALDLT and ABO-identical/compatible ALDLT(P = 0.303). Among the ABO-I ALDLT recipients, there was no difference between patients with ITBL and those without ITBL in terms of B-cell and T-cell count, serum isoagglutinin titers, number of PEs, operative time and transfusion, use of graft infusion therapy, or number of remnant B-cell follicles and plasma cells in the spleen. However, the perioperative NK cell counts in the blood of patients with ITBL were significantly higher than those in the patients without ITBL(P < 0.05). Preoperative NK cell count > 150/μL and postoperative NK cell count > 120/μL were associated with greater relative risks(RR) for development of ITBL(RR = 20 and 14.3, respectively, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: High NK cell counts in a transplant recipient's blood are associated with ITBL after ABO-I ALDLT. 16CMOS-compatible high-index doped silica waveguide with an embedded silicon-nanocrystal strip for all-optical analog-to-digital conversion显示文摘Passive all-optical signal processors that overcome the electronic bottleneck can potentially be the enabling components for the next-generation high-speed and lower power consumption systems. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a CMOS-compatible waveguide and its application to the all-optical analog-to-digital converter(ADC) under the nonlinear spectral splitting and filtering scheme. As the key component of the proposed ADC, a 50 cm long high-index doped silica glass spiral waveguide is composed of a thin silicon-nanocrystal(Si-nc) layer embedded in the core center for enhanced nonlinearity. The device simultaneously possesses low loss(0.16 dB/cm at 1550 nm), large nonlinearity(305 W^-1∕km at 1550 nm), and negligible nonlinear absorption.A 2-bit ADC basic unit is achieved when pumped by the proposed waveguide structure at the telecom band and without any additional amplification. Simulation results that are consistent with the experimental ones are also demonstrated, which further confirm the feasibility of the proposed scheme for larger quantization resolution.This demonstrated approach enables a fully monolithic solution for all-optical ADC in the future, which can digitize broadband optical signals directly at low power consumption. 20Overexpressed Cyclin D1 and CDK4 proteins are responsible for the resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitor in breast cancer that can be reversed by PI3K/mTOR inhibitors显示文摘CDK4/6 inhibitors are the standard treatment in advanced HR+/HER2-breast cancer patients.Nevertheless,the resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors is inevitable and the strategies to overcome resistance are of great interest.Here,we show that the palbociclibresistant breast cancer cells expressed significantly higher levels of Cyclin D1 and CDK4 proteins because of upregulated protein synthesis.Silencing Cyclin D1 or CDK4 led to cell cycle arrest while silencing Cyclin E1 or CDK2 restored the sensitivity to palbociclib.Furthermore,PI3K/mTOR pathway was hyper-activated in palbociclib-resistant cells,leading to more phosphorylated 4E-BP1 and higher levels of Cyclin D1 and CDK4 translation.Targeting PI3K/mTOR pathway with a specific PI3Kαinhibitor(BYL719)or an mTOR inhibitor(everolimus)reduced the protein levels of Cyclin D1 and CDK4,and restored the sensitivity to palbociclib.The tumor samples expressed significantly higher levels of Cyclin D1,CDK4,p-AKT and p-4E-BP1 after progression on palbociclib treatment.In conclusion,our findings suggest that overexpressed Cyclin D1 and CDK4 proteins lead to the resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitor and PI3K/mTOR inhibitors are able to restore the sensitivity to CDK4/6 inhibitors,which provides the biomarker and rationale for the combinational use of CDK4/6 inhibitors and PI3K/mTOR inhibitors after CDK4/6 inhibitor resistance in breast cancer.Zijie Cai Jingru Wang Yudong Li Qianfeng Shi Liang Jin Shunying Li Mengdi Zhu Qi Wang Lok Lam Wong Wang Yang Hongna Lai Chang Gong Yandan Yao Yujie Liu Jun Zhang Herui Yao Qiang Liu 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,1:4
