| 1 | Analysis of the Results of Two Nationwide Surveys on Clonorchis sinensis Infection in China显示文摘Objective To examine Clonorchis sinensis infection in China and evaluate the effectiveness of efforts to prevent and control it,two nationwide surveys were undertaken in 31 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities(PAMs) during 1988-92(the 1990 survey) and during 2001-04(the 2003 survey).Methods During the period 2001-04,two sampling methods were applied.The first method repeated the stratified cluster random sampling used in the 1990 survey;the second method applied two-characteristic stratified cluster random sampling in 27 PAMs-the 2003 endemic area(EA) survey.The Kato-Katz thick smear method was used for the nationwide survey.Results The infection rates of Clonorchis sinensis in the 1990 and 2003 surveys were 0.311% and 0.579%,respectively.The infection rate was 2.40% in the 2003 EA survey,and it was estimated that 12.49 million people in China were infected with Clonorchis sinensis.Conclusion The 2003 survey showed that the standardized infection rate of Clonorchis sinensis increased by 74.85% compared with the 1990 survey.The infection rate in males was higher than in females;the infection rate among people eating raw fish or eating out frequently was higher than among those who did not. | CHEN Ying Dan ZHOU Chang Hai XU Long Qi | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2: | 22 |
| 2 | Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. | 5 | Quantitative calculation for the dissipated energy of fault rock burst based on gradient-dependent plasticity显示文摘The capacity of energy absorption by fault bands after rock burst was calculated quantitatively according to shear stressshear deformation curves considering the interactions and interplaying among microstructures due to the heterogeneity of strain softening rock materials. The post-peak stiffness of rock specimens subjected to direct shear was derived strictly based on gradientdependent plasticity, which can not be obtained from the classical elastoplastic theory. Analytical solutions for the dissipated energy of rock burst were proposed whether the slope of the post-peak shear stress-shear deformation curve is positive or not. The analytical solutions show that shear stress level, confining pressure, shear strength, brittleness, strain rate and heterogeneity of rock materials have important influence on the dissipated energy. The larger value of the dissipated energy means that the capacity of energy dissipation in the form of shear bands is superior and a lower magnitude of rock burst is expected under the condition of the same work done by external shear force. | 6 | Carcinogenic potential of duodenal reflux juice from patients with long-standing postgastrectomy显示文摘AIM To determine, whether study on thecarcinogenic potential of reflux juice frompatients with remote gastrectomy could clarifythe inherent relationship between duodenalreflux and gastric stump cancer.METHODS A total of 37 reflux juice samples(13 Billroth T, 24 Billroth Ⅱ ) were employed inthe present study. A two- stage transformationassay using BALB/c 3T3 cells was carried out totest the initiating or promoting activity of thesesamples.RESULTS Two of 18 (11.1%) reflux samplesexerted initiating activities, whereas 9/19(47.4%) samples enhanced the MNNG-initiafingcell transformation, suggesting the duodenalreflux juice might more frequently possess thetumor-promoter activity (P = 0. 029). In addition,there was no difference in initiating activities ofthe samples irrespective of surgical procedures(P=0.488), while Billroth Ⅱ samples exhibitedstronger tumor-promoter activity than Billroth Ⅰsamples (P = 0.027). Furthermore, the promoteractivities were well correlated with thehistological changes of the stomas (rs = 0.625,P = 0.004), but neither their cytotoxicities norinitiating activities had this correlation( Probabilities were 0.523 and 0.085,respectively).CONCLUSION The duodenal reflux juice frompatients with remote postgastrectomy did havecarcinogenic potential, and suggested thattumor-promoting activity should principallyaccount for the high incidence of gastric cancerin gastrectomy patients. | 9 | Coupling analysis of social-economic water consumption and its effects on the arid environments in Xinjiang of China based on the water and ecological footprints显示文摘In arid areas,ecological degradation aroused by over-exploitation of fresh water,expansion of artificial oasis and shrinkage of natural oasis,has drawn attention of many scholars and officials.The water and ecological footprints can be used to quantitatively evaluate the water consumption of social-economic activities and their influence on the eco-environments.In addition,increase of the water footprint indicates the expansion of artificial oasis,and the influence on the natural oasis could be reflected by the variation of the ecological footprint.This study was conducted to answer a scientific question that what is the quantitative relationship between the expansion of the artificial oasis and the degradation of the natural oasis in the arid environments of Xinjiang,China.Thus,based on the social-economic data,water consumption data and meteorological data during 2001–2015,we calculated the water and ecological footprints to express the human-related pressure exerted on the water resources and arid environments in Xinjiang(including 14 prefectures and cities),and explore the relationship between the water and ecological footprints and its mechanism by using the coupling analysis and Granger causality test.The results show that both the water and ecological footprints of Xinjiang increased significantly during 2001–2015,and the increasing rate of the ecological footprint was much faster than that of the water footprint.The coupling degree between the water and ecological footprints was relatively high at the temporal scale and varied at the spatial scale.Among the 14 prefectures and cities examined in Xinjiang,the greater social-economic development(such as in Karamay and Urumqi)was associated with the lower coupling degree between the two footprints.Increases in the water footprint will cause the ecological footprint to increase,such that a 1-unit increase in the consumption of water resources would lead to 2–3 units of ecological degradation.The quantitative relationship between the increases of the water and ecological footprints,together with the intensities of water consumption both in the natural and artificial oases of Tarim River Basin,have approved the fact that the formation and expansion of 1 unit of the artificial oasis would bring about the degradation of 2 units of the natural oasis.These conclusions not only provide a technical basis for sustainable development in Xinjiang,but also offer a theoretical guide and scientific information that could be used in similar arid areas around the world. | ZHANG Pei DENG Mingjiang LONG Aihua DENG Xiaoya WANG Hao HAI Yang WANG Jie LIU Yundong | 2020 | Journal of Arid Land2020,12,1: | 8 |

| 13 | Seasonal changes of organic matter origins and anammox activity in the Changjiang Estuary deduced from multi-biomarkers in suspended particulates显示文摘Human activity-induced eutrophication and harmful algal blooms are main causes of the expansion of the hypoxic zone in the Changjiang Estuary. Among the many changes in biogeochemical processes, anaerobic ammonium oxidation(anammox) is proposed to play an important role in the nitrogen cycle in hypoxic areas. Ladderane lipids have been used as biomarkers to indicate anammox activity in ecosystems, but the origins of anammox bacteria and ladderanes in suspended particulates are still unclear. In this study, we report the results of a suite of biomarker analyses of suspended particulates across a salinity gradient of the Changjiang Estuary in both the spring and summer to evaluate the origins of the ladderanes and their potential as proxies for anammox activity and hypoxia. The spatio-temporal variations in terrestrial biomarkers(n-alkanes and n-alkanols), marine biomarkers(brassicasterol and dinosterol), and the Terrestrial and Marine Biomarker Ratio and Branched and Isoprenoid Tetraether indices reveal that marine organic matter was dominant in the particulates in both the spring(55%) and summer(86%) seasons. Correlations with both marine and terrestrial biomarkers suggest that ladderanes were mainly produced in the water column, and therefore that ladderane concentrations in suspended particulates in the Changjiang Estuary mainly reflect anammox activity in the water column, although changes in anammox bacterial assemblages may also have played a role in ladderane concentrations. LiFeO_4/C materials were prepared by coating different carbon contents. High-performance composite materials were prepared by combining carbon with element doped by two modified methods. The elements of Fe and C came from Fe3+and sucrose, glucose, citric acid. Thermogravimetrydifferential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM),cycle voltammetry (CV), and charge-discharge test were used to characterize and test the surface morphology,structure, and electrochemical performance. The results show that LiFePO_4/C synthesized with sucrose has higher specific discharge capacity than the other materials. The specific discharge capacity of this material is 84.27 mAh·g^(-1). | 20 | BMI and BMI Changes to All-cause Mortality among the Elderly in Beijing: a 20-year Cohort Study显示文摘Objective To explore the association between body mass index(BMI)and all-cause mortality among the elderly in Beijing.Methods This analysis was based on the Beijing multidimensional longitudinal study of aging(BLSA),which included 2,090 subjects over 55 years old and was followed-up from 1992 to 2012.BMI-mortality curves were drawn to find the optimal BMI range with the lowest mortality.Cox proportional hazard models were used to obtain the hazard ratios(HRs)for BMI and BMI changes in the overall population and in specific stratified populations.Results During follow-up,1,164 deaths were recorded;BMI-mortality curve was U-shaped,with the lowest mortality at a BMI of approximately 25 kg/m^2.After adjusting for gender,age,smoking,drinking and some pre-existing diseases,HRs for underweight,overweight and obesity compared with normal weight were 1.372(95%CI:1.154-1.631),0.767(95%CI:0.666-0.884)and 0.871(95%CI:0.830-1.246),respectively.HR for BMI drop was 3.245(95%CI:0.824-12.772)in the underweight group and 1.892(95%CI:0.830-1.246)in the normal weight group,HR for BMI rise was 1.795(95%CI:1.243-2.591)in normal weight group and 1.962(95%CI:1.202-3.203)in the overweight group.Conclusion Keeping BMI in an overweight status and stable is related to a reduced mortality. | WANG Yun Feng TANG Zhe GUO Jin TAO Li Xin LIU Long LI Hai Bin LI Di Tian GUO Xiu Hua YANG Xing Hua | 2017 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017,30,2: | 3 |
