1An inferred functional impact map of genetic variants in rice显示文摘Interpreting the functional impacts of genetic variants(GVs)is an important challenge for functional genomic studies in crops and next-generation breeding.Previous studies in rice(Oryza sativa)have focused mainly on the identification of GVs,whereas systematic functional annotation of GVs has not yet been performed.Here,we present a functional impact map of GVs in rice.We curated haplotype information for 17397026 GVs from sequencing data of 4726 rice accessions.We quantitatively evaluated the effects of missense mutations in coding regions in each haplotype based on the conservation of amino acid residues and obtained the effects of 918848 non-redundant missense GVs.Furthermore,we generated high-quality chromatin accessibility(CA)data from six representative rice tissues and used these data to train deep convolutional neural network models to predict the impacts of 5067405 GVs for CA in regulatory regions.We characterized the functional properties and tissue specificity of the GV effects and found that large-effect GVs in coding and regulatory regions may be subject to selection in different directions.Finally,we demonstrated how the functional impact map could be used to prioritize causal variants in mapping populations.This impact map will be a useful resource for accelerating gene cloning and functional studies in rice,and can be freely queried in RiceVarMap V2.0(http://gffzz90f9113514c343b0hxp6nb5c0ox0v6bux.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn).Hu Zhao Jiacheng Li Ling Yang Gang Qin Chunjiao Xia Xingbing Xu Yangmeng Su Yinmeng Liu Luchang Ming Ling-Ung Chen Lizhong Xiong Weibo Xie 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,9:3
2Bract suppression regulated by the miR156/529-SPLs-NL1-PLA1 module is required for the transition from vegetative to reproductive branching in rice显示文摘Reproductive transition of grasses is characterized by switching the pattern of lateral branches,featuring the suppression of outgrowth of the subtending leaves(bracts)and rapid formation of higher-order branches in the inflorescence(panicle).However,the molecular mechanisms underlying such changes remain largely unknown.Here,we show that bract suppression is required for the reproductive branching in rice.We identified a pathway involving the intrinsic time ruler microRNAI56/529,their targets SQUAMOSA PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN LIKE(SPL)genes,NECK LEAF1(NL1),and PLASTOCHRON1(PLA1),which regulates the bract outgrowth and thus affects the pattern switch between vegetative and reproductive branching.Suppression of the bract results in global reprogramming of transcriptome and chromatin accessibility following the reproductive transition,while these processes are largely dysregu-lated in the mutants of these genes.These discoveries contribute to our understanding of the dynamic plant architecture and provide novel insights for improving crop yields.Lei Wang Luchang Ming Keyan Liao Chunjiao Xia Shengyuan Sun Yu Chang Hongkai Wang Debao Fu Conghao Xu Zhengji Wang Xu Li Weibo Xie Yidan Ouyang Qinglu Zhang Xianghua Li Qinghua Zhang Jinghua Xiao Qifa Zhang 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,7:2
3The Role of Ti in the Preparation of SiC/7075 Aluminum Matrix Composite显示文摘SiC/7075 aluminum matrix composites were prepared by a liquid stirring method.The role of Ti facilitating the preparation of SiC/7075 aluminum matrix were studied by means of direct-reading spectrometer,scanning electron microscope,energy dispersive spectrometer,X-ray diffraction and the sessile drop method.The results show that the SiC content in the SiC/7075 composite increases with an increase of Ti addition.The addition of Ti can significantly improve the wettability of SiC/Al system,there is a critical value of above 0.5%of Ti content in improving the wettability of the Al/SiC system at 1173K.The temperature of the'non wetting-wetting'transition for the(Al-2Ti)/SiC system is about 1123K,the contact angle decreases to 88°at 200 seconds and reaches a stable contact angle of 28°at 2100 seconds.ZHANG Wenda CHEN Chengcheng XU Hong CHE Luchang GUO Cuiping DU Zhenmin 2020Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2020,35,2:2
4A Fragment Substitution in Promoter of MS92/PTC1 Causes Male Sterility in Rice显示文摘Persistent tapetal cell1(PTC1) plays a curial role in pollen development, and is thought to function as a transcriptional activator in rice. However, the molecular mechanism of PTC1 in regulating pollen development and its cis-elements are not well understood. We identified a novel weak male sterility mutant(ms92) which exhibited expanded tapetum and shrink pollen grains. Map-based cloning and allelic analysis suggested that the male sterility of ms92 was caused by a DNA fragment substitution in the promoter of PTC1. The decreased expression of MS92/PTC1 in ms92 and cis-element analysis indicated that the substituted sequence contained several potential binding cis-element of negative feedback. MS92/PTC1 was specifically expressed in tapetum and microspores at the young microspore stage, and its protein was localized in nucleus. We further found that MS92/PTC1 functions as a transcription activator by recognizing H3K4me3. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that a number of genes involved in tapetum degeneration and pollen wall formation were down-regulated in ms92, which are the potential targets of MS92/PTC1. 7Negative effects of artiffcial nest boxes on birds:A review显示文摘Artificial nest boxes are placed to attract birds to nest and breed in a specific location,and they are widely used in avian ecology research and in the attraction of insectivorous birds.There is evidence that artificial nest boxes can adversely affect breeding fitness but no great focus has been placed on this issue by researchers.Therefore,we retrieved 321 research papers regarding artificial nest boxes published from 2003 to 2022 and used the'Biblioshiny'program to extract and integrate keywords;we then summarized the adverse effects of artificial nest boxes on avian breeding success.The studies highlighted many drawbacks and misuses in the designing and placement of nest boxes;furthermore,bird attraction was decreased by their inappropriate selection,thus reducing breeding success.Regarding nest box production,there were shortcomings in the construction material,color,smell,and structural design of the boxes used.Nest boxes were also placed at inappropriate densities,locations,orientations,heights,and managed incorrectly.Finally,we propose suggestions for more efficient and safer artificial nest boxes for future use in avian ecology research and bird conservation.Luchang Zhang Xingjian Ma Zhiyu Chen Chunying Wang Zicheng Liu Xiang Li Xiaoying Xing 2023Avian Research2023,14,2:0

9Symmetry properties of nonlocal quark bilinear operators on a Lattice(LP~3 Collaboration)显示文摘Using symmetry properties, we determine the mixing pattern of a class of nonlocal quark bilinear operators containing a straight Wilson line along a spatial direction.We confirm the previous study that mixing among the lowest dimensional operators, which have a mass dimension equal to three, can occur if chiral symmetry is broken in the lattice action.For higher dimensional operators, we find that the dimension-three operators will always mix with dimension-four operators, even if chiral symmetry is preserved.Also, the number of dimension-four operators involved in the mixing is large, and hence it is impractical to remove the mixing by the improvement procedure.Our result is important for determining the Bjorken-xdependence of the parton distribution functions using the quasi-distribution method on a Euclidean lattice.The requirement of using large hadron momentum in this approach makes the control of errors from dimension-four operators even more important.Jiunn-Wei Chen Tomomi Ishikawa Luchang Jin Huey-Wen Lin Jian-Hui Zhang Yong Zhao 2019Chinese Physics C2019,43,10:0
