| 1 | Use of Several Plant Materials and Chemicals to inhibit Soil Urease Activity and Increase Nitrogen Recovery Rate of Urea by Plant显示文摘Effects of residues of 9 plants, lemon eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora Hook., P1), robust eucalyptus (E. robusta Smith, P2), Nepal camphortree (Cinnamomum glanduliferum (Wall.) Nees, P3), tea (Camellia sinensis (Linn.) O. Ktze. f., P4), oleander (Nerium indicum Mill, P5), rape (Brassica campestris L., P6),Chinese tallow tree (Sapium sebiferum L., P7), tung (Vernicia fordii (Hemsl.), P8), and croton (Croton tiglium L., P9), 7 chemicals, boric acid (C1), borax (C2), oxalic acid (C3), sodium oxalite (C4), sodium dihydrogen phosphate (C6), sodium silicate (C7) and sodium citrate (C8), and a natural organic substance,humic acid (C5), on urease activity of a neutral purple soil and recovery of urea nitrogen by maize were studied through incubation and pot experiments. Hydroquinone (HQ) was applied as the reference inhibitor. After incubation at 37 ℃ for 24 h, 7 inhibitors with higher ability to inhibit urease activity were selected and then incubated for 14 days at 25 ℃. Results of the incubation experiments showed that soil urease activity was greatly inhibited by them, and the inhibition effect followed an order of P2>P4>C3>C2>P3>C1>HQ>P1.The 7 selected materials reduced the accumulative amounts of N released from urea and the maximum urease activity by 11.7%~28.4% and 26.7%~39.7%, respectively, and postponed the N release peak by 2~4 days in the incubation period of 14 days under constant temperature, as compared to the control (no inhibitor).In the pot experiment with the 7 materials at two levels of addition, low (L) and high (H), the C1 (H), C3(H), C1 (L), P4 (L) and C2 (L) treatments could significantly increase the dry weights of the aboveground parts and the total biomass of the maize plants and the apparent recovery rate of urea-N was increased by 6.3%~32.4% as compared to the control (no hibitor). | XU WEIHONG, WANG ZHENGYIN, JIA ZHONGYUAN, HUANG YUN, YUAN LUJIANG and WANG JUANMEICollege of Resources and Environmental Science, Southwest Agricultural University, Chongqing 400716 (China) | 2002 | Pedosphere2002,12,3: | 6 |
| 2 | Ultrathin salt-free polymer-in-ceramic electrolyte for solid-state sodium batteries显示文摘The practical energy density of solid-state batteries remains limited,partly because of the lack of a general method to fabricate thin membranes for solid-state electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and low area-specific resistance(ASR).Herein,we use an ultrahigh concentration of a ceramic ion conductor(Na_(3)SbS_(4))to build an ionconduction“highway”,and a polymer(polyethylene oxide,2 wt%)as a flexible host to prepare a polymer-inceramic ion-conducting membrane of approximately 40μm.Without the use of any salt(e.g.,NaPF_(6)),the resulting membrane exhibits a threefold increase in electronic ASR and a twofold decrease in ionic ASR compared with a pure ceramic counterpart.The activation energy for sodium-ion transport is only 190 meV in the membrane,similar to that in pure ceramic,suggesting ion transport predominantly occurs through a percolated network of ion-conducting ceramic particles.The salt-free design also provides an opportunity to suppress dendritic metal electrodeposits,according to a recently refined chemomechanical model of metal deposition.Our work suggests that salt is not always necessary in composite solid-state electrolytes,which broadens the choice of polymers to allow the optimization of other desired attributes,such as mechanical strength,chemical/electrochemical stability,and cost. | Bin Tang Yibo Zhao Zhiyi Wang Shiwei Chen Yifan Wu Yuming Tseng Lujiang Li Yunlong Guo Zhen Zhou Shou-Hang Bo | 2021 | eScience2021,1,2: | 2 |
| 3 | Transcriptome responses to heat stress in hypothalamus of a meat-type chicken显示文摘Background:Heat stress has resulted in great losses in poultry production.To address this issue,we systematically analyzed chicken hypothalamus transcriptome responses to thermal stress using a 44 k chicken Agilent microarray,Methods:Hypothalamus samples were collected from a control group reared at 25℃,a heat-stress group treated at 34℃ for 24 h,and a temperature-recovery group reared at 25℃ for 24 h following a heat-stress treatment.We compared the expression profiles between each pair of the three groups using microarray data.Results:A total of 1,967 probe sets were found to be differentially expressed in the three comparisons with P < 0.05 and a fold change(FC) higher than 1.5,and the genes were mainly involved in self-regulation and compensation required to maintain homeostasis.Consistent expression results were found for 11 selected genes by quantitative real-time PCR.Thirty-eight interesting differential expression genes were found from GO term annotation and those genes were related to meat quality,growth,and crucial enzymes.Using these genes for genetic network analysis,we obtained three genetic networks.Moreover,the transcripts of heat-shock protein,including Hsp 40 and Hsp 90,were significantly altered in response to thermal stress.Conclusions:This study provides a broader understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying stress response in chickens and discovery of novel genes that are regulated in a specific thermal-stress manner. | Hongyan Sun Runshen Jiang Shengyou Xu Zebin Zhang Guiyun Xu Jiangxia Zheng Lujiang Qu | 2015 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2015,6,3: | 2 |
| 4 | Origin and domestication history of Peking ducks deltermined through microsatellite and mitochondrial marker analysis显示文摘In order to elucidate the domestication history of Peking ducks, 190 blood samples from six Chinese indigenous duck breeds were collected with186 individualsgenotyped by 15 microsatellite markers. Both the FST and Nei’s standard genetic distances (Ds) from the microsatellite data indicated high genetic differentiation between Peking duck and other Chinese indigenous breeds. The haplotype network with mtDNA data showed that most of the Peking duck haplotypes were distinctly different from those of other domestic breeds. Although the H01 haplotype was shared by all domesticated duck breeds, Peking ducks displayed 12 specific domestic duck haplotypes, including four similar haplotypes H02, H04, H08 and H22, that formed a single haplogroup (A). This study aimed at the application of cement and a kind of industrial wastes, i.e. granulated blast furnace slag, on stabilization of surplus soft clay. The results showed that the cement and slag can successfully stabilize Ariake clays even though this high organic clay fails to be stabilized by lime and cement. Addition of slag in cement for stabilization induces higher strength than cement alone for longer curing time. | 20 | Correlation analysis of the total IgY level in hen serum, egg yolk and offspring serum显示文摘The correlation between IgY levels of the serum and the yolk has been well documented in wild and domestic birds. The levels of total yolk IgY can be an index of the general health status of birds and may contribute to breeding programs when fitness of the offspring is a concern. We measured the levels of total serum IgY and yolk IgY in three different breeds(White Leghorn, Silkie and Dongxiang blue-shell) using indirect ELISA, and found that there was a significantly positive correlation between the levels of total serum IgY and total yolk IgY in all three breeds(White Leghorn: r=0.404, P<0.001, n=100; Silkie: r=0.561, P<0.001, n=70; Dongxiang blue-shell: r=0.619, P<0.001, n=30). We also measured the total serum IgY levels in the 3-day-old offspring hatched from the Silkie hens and results were significantly correlated for serum IgY levels(r=0.535, P<0.001, n=70) and the yolk IgY levels(r=0.481, P<0.001, n=70). The regression analysis showed simple linear regression between IgY levels in hen serum, yolk and offspring serum.
