| 1 | A Real-Time Photo-Realistic Rendering Algorithm of Ocean Color Based on Bio-Optical Model显示文摘A real-time photo-realistic rendering algorithm of ocean color is introduced in the paper, which considers the impact of ocean bio-optical model. The ocean bio-optical model mainly involves the phytoplankton, colored dissolved organic material(CDOM), inorganic suspended particle, etc., which have different contributions to absorption and scattering of light. We decompose the emergent light of the ocean surface into the reflected light from the sun and the sky, and the subsurface scattering light. We establish an ocean surface transmission model based on ocean bidirectional reflectance distribution function(BRDF) and the Fresnel law, and this model's outputs would be the incident light parameters of subsurface scattering. Using ocean subsurface scattering algorithm combined with bio-optical model, we compute the scattering light emergent radiation in different directions. Then, we blend the reflection of sunlight and sky light to implement the real-time ocean color rendering in graphics processing unit(GPU). | 2 | The geometry of mesoscale eddies in the South China Sea: characteristics and implications显示文摘The symmetrical circular shape of mesoscale eddies has been widely used in their scientific researches.Recently,an elliptical average eddy shape has been confirmed for eddies in the global ocean using multi-satellite altimeter data.As a regional extension of a previous study on the geometry of global eddies,a mean eddy shape in the South China Sea(SCS)has been derived by averaging a large number of orientational eddy boundaries.The mean shape is approximately a mathematic ellipse with a semimajor axis of 101.3 km and a semiminor axis of 61.3 km.Its size is larger than the global one.The principal eddy orientation in the SCS is 74°/254°(nearly northeast-southwest),different from that of eddies in the global ocean(171°/351°,nearly east–west).Composite analyses of chlorophyll(CHL)concentrations and sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTA)indicate a dipole structure for circular eddies in the non-rotated coordinate system.While a monopole structure for elliptical eddies in the eddy-centric coordinate system is obtained.The results demonstrate that the elliptical shape of eddies affects oceanographical variables.The findings provide a new approach for exploring the role of air–sea interactions on oceanic eddies. | Guiyan Han Fenglin Tian Chunyong Ma Ge Chen | 2021 | International Journal of Digital Earth2021,14,4: | 1 |

| 4 | Complete photonic bandgap in silicon nitride slab assisted by effective index difference between polarizations显示文摘The slab effective index difference between the transverse-electric(TE)and transverse-magnetic(TM)polarizations was utilized to obtain complete photonic bandgap(CPBG)in a silicon nitride(Si_(x)N_(y))photonic crystal slab.For this,coincident frequency range in the TE photonic bandgap(PBG)and TM PBG,which denotes the CPBGs of the slab,must be found with the same structure.Through adjusting the effective index pair of TE and TM polarizations by changing the thickness of the Si_(x)N_(y)core layer,and also optimizing the structure parameters within the photonic crystal plane,a large normalized CPBG of 5.62%was theoretically obtained in a slab of Si_(x)N_(y)with a refractive index of 2.5.Moreover,based on the obtained CPBG,a microcavity which could support both TE and TM polarization was theoretically demonstrated.The cavity modes for different polarizations were both well confined,which proved the reliability of the CPBG.In addition,using the same method,the lowest refractive index of Si_(x)N_(y)on silica slab for a CPBG could be extended to as low as 2.The results indicate that there is potential for development of various high-performance CPBG devices based on Si_(x)N_(y)slab technology. | Can Ma Jin Hou Chunyong Yang Ming Shi Shaoping Chen | 2022 | Frontiers of Optoelectronics2022,15,2: | 0 |
| 5 | Satellite observed shape-based overall rotation—A new aspect in eddy kinematics显示文摘With the development of satellite altimetry technology,the resolution of sea-level anomaly(SLA)datasets is constantly improving.Current spatial resolution levels can reach a grid size of(1/4)°×(1/4)°,with daily measurements that span from 1993 to 2018,allowing for the precise identification and tracking of individual eddies.In the current study,in addition to the internal circulation and migration of eddies,a new aspect in eddy kinematics is revealed and investigated for the first time:shape-based overall eddy rotation(SOER),based on the intrinsic elliptical shape of eddies identified from a high-resolution SLA dataset.We found that eddies can maintain an elliptical shape and a slow and stable SOER during their migration process.The SOER speed was observed to be negatively correlated to eddy lifetime,and exhibited a dependence on latitude,decreasing from low-and high-to mid-latitudes.The SOER direction tended to be consistent with the direction of internal circulation,particularly for long-lived eddies.In addition,we identified a negative relationship between internal circulation speed and SOER speed while the migration speed was positively related to SOER speed.These findings further expand and improve eddy kinematics,which is of great significance for the future study of eddy dynamics. | Xueqing Yang Guiyan Han Chunyong Ma Chuanchuan Cao Jie Yang Ge Chen | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,5: | 0 |
| 6 | Parallel-Dynamic Interpolation Algorithm of Sea Surface Height for Future 2D Altimetry Mapping of Sea Surface Height显示文摘The sea surface height data volume of the future wide-swath two-dimensional(2D)altimetric satellite is thousands of times greater than that of nadir altimetric satellites.The time complexity of the 2D altimetry mapping reaches O(n^(3)).It is challenging to map the global grid products of future 2D altimetric satellites.In this study,to improve the efficiency of global data mapping,a new algorithm called parallel-dynamic interpolation(PA-DI)was designed.Through the use of 2D data segmentation and fine-grained data mosaic methods,the parallel along-track DI processes were accelerated,and a fast and efficient spatial-temporal high-resolution and low-error enhanced mapping method was obtained.As determined from a comparison of the single-threaded DI with the PA-DI,the new algorithm optimized the time complexity from O(n^(3))to O(n^(3)/KL),which improved the mapping efficiency and achieved the expected results.According to the test results of the observing system simulation experiments,the PA-DI algorithm may provide an efficient and reliable method for future wide-swath 2D altimetric satellite mapping. | DI Jiankai MA Chunyong CHEN Ge | 2021 | Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,5: | 0 |
