| 1 | Plasma free amino acid profiling of esophageal cancer using high-performance liquid chromatography spectroscopy显示文摘AIM:To perform plasma free amino acid(PFAA)profiling of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients at different pathological stages and healthy subjects.METHODS:Plasma samples from ESCC patients(n=51)and healthy control adults(n=60)were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).The ESCC patients included moderate/poorly-differentiation(n=24),lymph node metastasis(n=17)and clinical stage>Ib2(n=36).Partial least squares discriminant analysis was performed to demonstrate that the PFAA metabolic patterns enabled discrimination between ESCC patients and controls,and the Student t test was applied to assess significant differences in PFAA concentrations between the two groups.RESULTS:There were significant differences in the PFAA profiles between controls and ESCC patients.Compared with healthy controls,the levels of Asp,Glu,Gly,His,Thr,Tau,Ala,Met,Ile,Leu,and Phe were decreased in ESCC patients,but Cys was increased.There exists a strong correlation between PFAA profiles and clinicopathological characteristics in ESCC patients.The levels of many PFAAs(i.e.,Glu,Asp,Ser,Gly,Tau,Ala,Tyr,Val,Ile,and Leu)were related to pathological grading,lymph node metastasis,and ESCC clinical stage.Very good discrimination between ESCC patients and control subjects was achieved by multivariate modeling of plasma profiles.CONCLUSION:HPLC-based plasma profiling analysis was shown to be an effective approach to differentiate between ESCC patients and controls.PFAA profiles may have potential value for screening or diagnosing ESCC. | Hong Ma Ayshamgul Hasim Batur Mamtimin Bin Kong Hai-Ping Zhang Ilyar Sheyhidin | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,26: | 11 |
| 2 | Near-surface sand-dust horizontal flux in Tazhong-the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘Tazhong is the hinterland and a sandstorm high-frequency area of the Taklimakan Desert. However, little is known about the detailed time-series of aeolian sand transport in this area. An experiment to study the sand-dust horizontal flux of near-surface was carried out in Tazhong from January to December 2009. By measuring the sand-dust horizontal flux throughout sixteen sand-dust weather processes with a 200-cm tall Big Spring Number Eight (BSNE) sampler tower, we quantitatively analyzed the vertical variation of the sand-dust horizontal flux. And the total sand-dust horizontal flux of different time-series that passed through a section of 100 cm in width and 200 cm in height was estimated combining the data of saltation movement continuously recorded by piezoelectric saltation sensors (Sensit). The results indicated that, in the surface layer ranging from 0-200 cm, the intensity of sand-dust horizontal flux decreased with the increase of the height, and the physical quantities obeyed power function well. The total sand-dust horizontal flux of the sixteen sand-dust weather processes that passed through a section of 100 cm in width and 200 cm in height was about 2,144.9 kg, the maximum of one sand-dust weather event was about 396.3 kg, and the annual total sand-dust horizontal flux was about 3,903.2 kg. The high levels of aeolian sand transport occurred during daytime, especially from 13:00 to 16:00 in the afternoon. | 3 | Impact factors of soil wind erosion in the center of Taklimakan Desert显示文摘The development and progress of soil wind erosion are influenced by the factors of climate,terrain,soil and vegetation,etc. This paper,taking Tazhong region,a town in the centre of the Taklimakan Desert,as an example and using comparative and quantitative methods,discussed the effects of climate,surface roughness(including vegetation cover) and surface soil properties on soil wind erosion. The results showed that the climate factor index C of annual wind erosion is 28.3,while the maximum of C is 13.9 in summer and it is only 0.7 in winter. The value of C has a very good exponential relationship with the wind speed. In Tazhong region,the surface roughness height is relatively small with a mean of 6.32 × 10-5 m,which is in favor of soil wind erosion. The wind erosion is further enhanced by its sandy soil types,soil particle size,lacking of vegetation and low soil moisture content. | 4 | Diurnal dynamics of soil respiration and the influencing factors for three land-cover types in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘Knowledge of soil respiration and the influencing factors in desert ecosystems is essential to understanding carbon dynamics and responses of biotic and abiotic processes in soils to climate change. In this study, soil respiration rate(R_s) for three land-cover types(shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land) in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert was measured in May 2015 using an automated soil CO_2 flux system. The effects of soil temperature(T_s) and soil water content(W_s) on R_s were also analyzed. The results showed that R_s values in shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land were all low and exhibited obvious diurnal fluctuations. The establishment of straw checkerboard barriers in sandy land had no significant effect on R_s, while the establishment of shelterbelts significantly increased R_s. Shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers were carbon sinks at night and early morning and were carbon sources in the daytime, while shelter forest land always acted as a carbon source during the whole day. The synergistic effect of T_s and W_s could better explain the diurnal dynamics in R_s than single factor. In shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, W_s was identified as a limiting factor influencing the diurnal dynamics of R_s. Furthermore, a relatively strong hysteresis loop existed between R_s and T_s. | 5 | Decreased blood riboflavin levels are correlated with defective expression of RFT2 gene in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between blood riboflavin levels and riboflavin transporter 2(RFT2) gene expression in gastric carcinoma(GC) development.METHODS:High-performance liquid chromatography was used to detect blood riboflavin levels in patients with GC.Real-time fluorogenic quantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry were used to analyze the expression of RFT2 mRNA and protein in samples from 60 GC patients consisting of both tumor and normal tissue.RESULTS:A significant decrease in the RFT2 mRNA levels was detected in GC samples compared with those in the normal mucous membrane(0.398 ± 0.149 vs 1.479 ± 0.587;P = 0.040).Tumors exhibited low RFT2 protein expression(75%,16.7%,8.3% and 0% for no RFT2 staining,weak staining,medium staining and strong staining,respectively),which was significantly lower than that in the normal mucous membrane(10%,16.7%,26.7% and 46.7% for no RFT2 staining,weak staining,medium staining and strong staining,respectively;P < 0.05).Tumors with low RFT2 expression were significantly associated with tumor stage and histological grade.Moreover,a significantly decrease in Uyghur patients was observed compared with Han patients.However,other parameters-gender,tumor location and lymph node metastasis-showed no significant relationship with RFT2 expression.Blood riboflavin levels were reverse correlated with development of GC(1.2000 ± 0.97 569 ng/mL in high tumor stage patients vs 2.5980 ± 1.31 129 ng/mL in low tumor stage patients;P < 0.05).A positive correlation of plasma riboflavin levels with defective expression of RFT2 protein was found in GC patients(2 = 2.619;P = 0.019).CONCLUSION:Defective expression of RFT2 is associated with the development of GC and this may represent a mechanism underlying the decreased plasma riboflavin levels in GC. | Maynur Eli De-Sheng Li Wei-Wei Zhang Bing Kong Chen-Song Du Maimaitiaili Wumar Batur Mamtimin Ilyar Sheyhidin Ayshamgul Hasim | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,24: | 6 |
| 6 | Sand flux estimation during a sand-dust storm at Tazhong area of Taklimakan Desert, China显示文摘In this paper, the sand transport during a sand-dust storm in the Tazhong area of the central Taklimakan Desert from 11:29 to 23:56 on July 19, 2008 was observed and measured in real time. The sand flux at Tazhong was estimated using sand transport empirical formulas. The critical friction velocity at Tazhong was 0.24 m/s and the functional relation between the wind speed and sediment discharge at the height of 2 m was established. It was also found that the calculated values by Lettau's sediment discharge formula were close to those of the instrument measurements. | 7 | An magnetic resonance-based plasma metabonomic investigation on abnormal Savda in different complicated diseases显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To provide potential evidence for the existence of abnormal Savda, we assessed host metabonomic responses and dynamic changes occurring in various diseases using1H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)-based metabonomics.METHODS: Plasma samples taken from patients with complicated diseases with abnormal Savda(n=140, including 35 cases each of diabetes, asthma,breast cancer, and cervical carcinoma) and from healthy controls(n=35) were analyzed by1H NMR(600 MHz), and the spectral profiles were analyzed by multivariate analysis using orthogonal projection to latent structure with discriminant analysis.RESULTS: Supervised modeling of the data provided very good discrimination between patients and healthy controls. Compared with the healthy controls, the patient groups with different disease conditions displayed similar metabolic changes, characterized by lower creatine, creatinine, lactate, and amino acid levels(including isoleucine, leucine, valine, alanine, and 1-methylhistidine) and higher lipid levels(very low-density lipoproteins and unsaturated lipids). | 8 | Analyses of temperature and humidity profiles and heat balance of the surface boundary-layer in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘The daily variation regularities of micro-meteorological features, such as the surface layer temperature and humidity profiles of the inner desert in summer, the temperature of sand bed, the radiation of the earth's surface and the heat balance, were analyzed by combination method and logarithm regression according to the data obtained from the Atmospheric Environmental Observation Station of Taklimakan Desert in July―August of 2006 and 2007. It has been shown that temperature inversion occurred near the surface layer at night in summer, the temperature increased with the height within a certain altitude range, and the reverse was true during the daytime. The ground surface radiation balance of the Taklimakan Desert was mainly positive; other radiation components (the global radiation, the reflective radiation, the ground upward long wave radiation and the net radiation) exhibited daily variation char- acteristics evidently and showed normal diurnal cycle, except for the downward atmospheric long-wave radiation. The heat exchange of the surface layer of the desert was dominated by turbulence sensible heat, and only a small portion of heat was transferred to the atmospheric surface layer in the form of latent heat. The surface sensible heat and latent heat changed with the increase and decrease of sun elevation angle, with maximum of the latent heat appearing in wee hours and the peak value of the sensible heat appearing at noon. | 11 | Estimation of the Land Surface Emissivity in the Hinterland of Taklimakan Desert显示文摘An accurate accounting of land surface emissivity(ε) is important both for the retrieval of surface temperatures and the calculation of the longwave surface energy budgets.Since ε is one of the important parameterizations in land surface models(LSMs),accurate accounting also improves the accuracy of surface temperatures and sensible heat fluxes simulated by LSMs.In order to obtain an accurate emissivity,this paper focuses on estimating ε from data collected in the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert by two different methods.In the first method,ε was derived from the surface broadband emissivity in the 8–14 μm thermal infrared atmospheric window,which was determined from spectral radiances observed by field measurements using a portable Fourier transform infrared spectrometer,the mean ε being 0.9051.The second method compared the observed and calculated heat fluxes under nearneutral atmospheric stability and estimated ε indirectly by minimizing the root-mean-square difference between them.The result of the second method found a mean value of 0.9042,which is consistent with the result by the first method.Although the two methods recover ε from different field experiments and data,the difference of meanvalues is 0.0009.The first method is superior to the indirect method,and is also more convenient. | LIU Yong-qiang Ali MAMTIMIN HUO Wen YANG Xing-hua LIU Xin-chun MENG Xian-yong HE Qing | 2014 | Journal of Mountain Science2014,11,6: | 3 |
| 12 | Observation of saltation activity at Tazhong area in Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘A two-year field observation of saltation activity was carried out at Tazhong area,the hinterland area of the Taklimakan Desert with highly frequent dust storms.From 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2010,a piezoelectric saltation sensor(Sensit) was used to continuously collect the data on saltation activity at a level sand surface.Analysis on the data suggests that saltation activity can occur at any time of the year when conditions are favorable;however,the necessary conditions are rarely satisfied in most time.In the daytime of spring or summer,saltation activity can persist even over a continuous one-hour-or-so period.It is found that,from 1 September 2008 to 31 August 2010,saltation activity accounts for more than 3% of the total yearly time,and it tends to peak in spring and summer months with strong winds.During winter months when winds are weak,however,it is often at a minimum.It seems that precipitation does not appear to be significant in reducing saltation activity in arid regions like Tazhong. | Ali MAMTIMIN | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1: | 3 |
| 13 | Analysis on the temporal-spatial distribution character and effect factors of PM10 in the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert and surrounding area显示文摘In recent years, the physical and chemical properties of dust aerosols from the dust source area in northern China have attracted increased attention. In this paper, Thermo RP 1400a was used for online continuous observation and study of the hinterland of Taklimakan, Tazhong, and surrounding areas of Kumul and Hotan from 2004 to 2006. In combination with weather analysis during a sandstorm in the Tazhong area, basic characteristics and influencing factors of dust aerosol PM10 have been summarized as below: (1) The occurrence days of floating dust and blowing dust appeared with an increasing trend in Kumul, Tazhong and Hotan, while the number of dust storm days did not significantly change. The frequency and intensity of dust weather were major factors affecting the concentration of dust aerosol PM10 in the desert. (2) The mass concentration of PM10 had significant regional distribution characteristics, and the mass concentration at the eastern edge of Taklimakan, Kumul, was the lowest; second was the southern edge of the desert, Hotan; and the highest was in the hinterland of the desert, Tazhong. (3) High values of PM10 mass concentration in Kumul was from March to September each year; high values of PM10 mass concentration in Tazhong and Hotan were distributed from March to August and the average concentration changed from 500 to 1,000 μg/m3, respectively. (4) The average seasonal concentration changes of PM10 in Kumul, Tazhong and Hotan were: spring > summer > autumn > winter; the highest average concentration of PM10 in Tazhong, was about 1,000 μg/m3 in spring and between 400 and 900 μg/m3 in summer, and the average concentration was lower in autumn and winter, basically between 200 and 400 μg/m3. (5) PM10 concentration during the sandstorm season was just over two times the concentration of the non-sandstorm season in Kumul, Tazhong and Hotan. The average concentrations of sandstorm season in Tazhong were 6.2 and 3.6 times the average concentrations of non-sandstorm season in 2004 and 2008, respectively. (6) The mass concentration of PM10 had the following sequence during the dust weather: clear day < floating dust < floating and blowing dust < sandstorm. The wind speed directly affects the concentration of PM10 in the atmosphere, the higher the wind speed, the higher the mass concentration.
