| 1 | Subsurface Flow Processes in Sloping Cropland of Purple Soil显示文摘Subsurface flow is a prominent runoff process in sloping lands of purple soil in the upper Yangtze River basin.However,it remains difficult to identify and quantify.In this study,in situ runoff experimental plots were used to measure soil moisture dynamics using an array of time domain reflectometry(TDR) together with overland flow and subsurface flow using isolated collecting troughs.Frequency of preferential flow during rainfall events and the controls of subsurface flow processes were investigated through combined analysis of soil properties,topography,rainfall intensity,initial wetness,and tillage.Results showed that subsurface flow was ubiquitous in purple soil profiles due to welldeveloped macropores,especially in surface soils while frequency of preferential flow occurrence was very low(only 2 cases in plot C) during all 22 rainfall events.Dry antecedent moisture conditions promoted the occurrence of preferential flow.However,consecutive real-time monitoring of soil moisture at different depths and various slope positions implied the possible occurrence of multiple subsurface lateral flows during intensive storms.Rainfall intensity,tillage operation,and soil properties were recognized as main controls of subsurface flow in the study area,which allows the optimization of management practices for alleviating adverse environmental effects of subsurface flow in the region. | TANG Jialilang ZHU Bo WANG Tao CHENG Xunqiang GAO Meirong LIN Henry | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Injectable silk/hydroxyapatite nanocomposite hydrogels with vascularization capacity for bone regeneration显示文摘Localized and sustained osteogenic-angiogenic stimulation to bone defects is critical for effective bone repair.Here,desferrioxamine(DFO)was loaded on silk fibroin nanofibers and blended with hydroxyapatite nanorods(HA),forming injectable DFO-loaded silk fibroin-HA nanocomposite hydrogels.The composite hydrogels remained homogeneous distribution of HA with high ratio(60%)and also higher stiffness than that of pure silk fibroin nanofiber hydrogels,which provided stable osteogenic stimulation niches for tissue regeneration.Without the scarify of injectability,the hydrogels achieved slow delivery of DFO for above 60 days,resulting in suitable angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo and better osteogenesis than DFO-free systems.Compared to previous injectable silk fibroin-HA hydrogels,the introduction of vascularization capacity further stimulated the osteogenic differentiation of stem cells and accelerated new bone formation.Quicker and better bone healing were detected at defect sites after the injection of DFO-loaded nanocomposite hydrogels,indicating the effective synergistic effect of osteogenic and angiogenic cues.This work provides a simple and effective strategy of introducing angiogenic cues to bone matrices.We believe that the injectable nanocomposite hydrogels are suitable for the regeneration of bone tissues. | Keke Wang Weinan Cheng Zhaozhao Ding Gang Xu Xin Zheng Meirong Li Guozhong Lu Qiang Lu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,4: | 2 |

| 5 | Dawn of complex animal food webs:A new predatory anthozoan(Cnidaria)from Cambrian显示文摘Cnidarians diverged very early in animal evolution;therefore,investigations of the morphology and trophic levels of early fossil cnidarians may provide critical insights into the evolution of metazoans and the origin of modern marine food webs.However,there has been a lack of unambiguous anthozoan cnidarians from Ediacaran assemblages,and undoubted anthozoans from the Cambrian radiation of metazoans are very rare and lacking in ecological evidence.Here,we report a new polypoid cnidarian,Nailiana elegans gen.et sp.nov.,represented by multiple solitary specimens from the early Cambrian Chengjiang biota(-520 Ma)of South China.These specimens show eight unbranched tentacles surrounding a single opening into the gastric cavity,which may have born multiple mesenteries.Thus,N.elegans displays a level of organization similar to that of extant cnidarians.Phylogenetic analyses place N.elegans in the stem lineage of Anthozoa and suggest that the ancestral anthozoan was a soft-bodied,solitary polyp showing octoradial symmetry.Moreover,one specimen of the new polyp preserves evidence of predation on an epifaunal lingulid brachiopod.This case provides the oldest direct evidence of macrophagous predation,the advent of which may have triggered the emergence of complex trophic/ecological relationships in Cambrian marine communities and spurred the explosive radiation of animal body plans. | Qiang Ou Degan Shu Zhifei Zhang Jian Han Heyo Van Iten Meirong Cheng Jie Sun Xiaoyong Yao Rong Wang Georg Mayer | 2022 | The Innovation2022,3,1: | 1 |
| 6 | Single-atom alloys prepared by two-step thermal evaporation显示文摘Single-atom alloys(SAAs)have gained significant attention due to their remarkable atomic utilization efficiency,interactions between single atoms(SAs)and metal supports,and free-atom-like electronic structure of dopant elements.In this work,we observed the formation of SAs in pre-deposited metal particles by a two-step thermal evaporation technique,thereby establishing the first instance of discovering SAAs by thermal evaporation.The discovery of SAAs by thermal evaporation extends the range of SAAs preparation methods to include this traditional synthetic technique,which offers convenience,cost-efficiency,and universality.The formation mechanism of SAAs prepared using this technique was elucidated by density functional theory calculations.It was demonstrated that thermal evaporation can be utilized to prepare SAAs with multiple SAs,further highlighting its universal applicability. | Honglin Wang Jing Li Meirong Huang Jizhe Cui Zhiying Cheng Rong Yu Hongwei Zhu | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,4: | 0 |
